I was wondering about the economics of Litecoin...
When Bitcoin's value dropped because of the People's Bank of China's attempt to make buying difficult, the value of Litecoin also dropped. How closely are the prices of Bitcoin and Litecoin connected? And if they are seperate currencies, why should their values be connected?

10 Litecoin are expensive for a lottery where only 3 people win...

Faucet is funny, there are 244 people in this round (1442) and there are only supposed to be 80.
Also, there are occasional problems with the captcha since it changed.
Lastly, I still haven't received the 100 devcoins even though it has been more than a month since I put the link in my signature

For those newbies trying to get into Litecoin, the faucet at http://ltc4you.com/?r=4915 has recently made changes that could potentially earn you a reasonable amount (for a faucet) fast. They now have a daily draw where 10 random players earn 1000uLTC, 10 earn 3000uLTC and 10 earn 6000uLTC! The faucet dispenses hourly

Lol, I submitted my details earlier, but only see now that I was also supposed to put my devcoin address by the link in my signature...
And I gave the wrong profile every time I used the faucet.
My address is: 18ez6cZSwaHQMN32yBF3rNYVE7CyVbd9pW (just in case you need it)
Profile: 176984

Does anyone know how many Bitcoins are mined per day? Or per year, or both?
I'm trying to calculate the ratio of the fluidity of the currency versus the generation of the currency.
Fluidity I can calculate by averaging the transactions on the blockchain. But I don't know how many Bitcoins are being produced per day.

Awesome! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Thank you so much Everything seems to work perfectly, except when I choose the "add panel" option. It opens a grey space, but there is no black box to choose a currency. Otherwise this is a very useful app.

I tested it and couldn't figure out how to see anything from cryptsy... Dunno if it's me or the program, but it looks the same as the old version

if you have more than just 1000 bucks you should buy a laptop (linux) with which you only do BTC / LTC trading,
1000 USD = 10 500 ZAR... As America keeps printing more money, our currency suffers because we get the deflation ![Cry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cry.gif) That is why I'm getting into crypto-currencies. But having a dedicated computer is a good idea. Just not sure how it's gonna improve security

Many of the pre-compiled Qt wallets available for download also have a PGP signature, or some kind of hash file with which you can compare to your download (before running the .exe). Definitely check the signature vs the downloaded file.
Thanks for the advise, but how do I check the PGP signature or hash file?

I also collect from faucets on the wallets on my PC and send the coins to the wallets on my tablet. This provides extra protection since I don't think it is likely that both will be hacked

I read this yesterday: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=349072.0 which is why I started this topic. Since I do not know how to compile wallets, I am forced to use the qt forms. Cryptocurrencies are (somewhat) difficult to get in South Africa because most of the sites where you can buy do not accept ZAR as payment, and I don't have or want a credit card. So that leaves me collecting altcoins from faucets. Because I do not know which wallets (or even which altcoins) I can trust, I need to find a way of being secure in the event that I do download a bad wallet or visit the wrong site. I like the idea of anti-keyloggers and keystroke encryption because they offer a type of protection which is useful beyond the world of cryptocurrencies. My problem is I don't know if this is enough to be safe because I do not know which methods they use to attack and/or steal info. PS. I am using McAfee because they explicitly state that they have protection against hacking (and my university recommends it)
