Difficulty will go down. A lot of people who I know personally that mined are giving it up to not wear out their prized new cards, or any number of reasons like profitability and heat and power usage. It's the equivalent of a gold miner in the gold rush packing up and going home because it's not profitable. It happens. Profitability drops, difficulty decreases until reward once again reaches a point where more miners are attracted.
The price seems level. It may be some time before it rises again. I think this effect is obvious and we can expect some decrease.

and when it hits $17 even more BTC will be for sale...... Not necessarily. Some will but most won't. Most people with coin wait and don't sell easy, and they are the ones with real numbers of coin and are the major players. They will wait for a high. This is a powerful control for demand/supply and once a peak is reached selling begins. As some see falling values, it will be fresh in everyone's minds and especially those holding coin that bitcoin recently kicked ass and made a lot of people a lot of money. This creates another buy rush as they seek to capitalize again and demand will rise again, causing another lower peak. Then it will sell off and reach a trough. This will then repeat again, as bitcoin has shown a few times now. Bitcoin is sweet.

I emailed them with this a few weeks ago: I'm running two radeon 5830's however I have found no way to successfully modify voltage, clock or memory on both cards, just the first one...this is an extreme disadvantage since in MSI afterburner at least I can do both cards, but if I want to slightly modify voltage on both I have no way of doing so. Is there anything I can do to change both cards voltage and clocks using Trixx? This would help me a lot as I am able to overclock this card highly, I just need to be able to do it on both of them instead of just the first.
I went out and bought a crossfire connector but it still doesn't work on both cards even with crossfire enabled.
Today, I got a response that some of you might find exciting: Enjoy!

A lot of people who come back "Denied" don't know beforehand that it's going to happen (the system has lots of bad records in it, very few people actually know their full legal status), and they certainly don't charge people with felonies when it happens. I'd imagine people would be quite well aware whether they've ever been convicted of something or aren't eligible to buy a gun.

If you really want to look at the long term, think of it this way. Eventually, an equilibrium will be reached between the people who can't maintain profitability and back out, or people discouraged with the btc values and back out, and those who stay in. Difficulty will level off, and eventually profitability will return with you at an advantage. This is in the long hall. Bitcoin has had one boom so far and I don't believe this is the end for it. I'm at about 1ghash/s and I'm satisfied to hold it out.

Yes, but they are more difficult to mine and unfortunately I missed this easy mining bandwagon...I have 15 btc to my name

When I got started with mining, it seemed like it was going nowhere but up. Now it seems headed in the opposite direction. I thought this currency was supposed to gain value, not lose it? Is it not becoming rarer, and thus more valuable?

Hello all,
I've been mining for about a month now at about ~1ghash/s. Unfortunately with difficulty increases and price staying around ~$20 and a $300 power bill, it's getting less profitable for me. If you like some of my musical works, feel free to spread the love. Bitcoin address and link in my signature.
Thanks!

I've heard it's possible to fill this slot. Wouldn't the 2x channels be filled and reduce mining performance?
Say I bought a pci-e extender and cut it to fit in a pci-e 2x slot. Would I really have no problem running 3 cards? What if there was a 6990 in the pci-e 2x slot? Is anyone else using this method?
Thanks!

I've had this in my signature for a good bit now. I've gotten tipped once to the tune of .01BTC, or about 30 cents. To the good fellow that tipped me, thanks For your friend, hope is not lost, there's just no culture of tipping musicians on the internet I suppose

I cleaned a lot of dust out of the CPU fan just now. It's currently hanging out around 65C. I think I've got it

What is causing my CPU to get so hot? What can I do about it? Using DiabloMiner with the following parameters (anybody know what -g does?):
DiabloMiner-Windows.exe -u xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -p x -o mining.eligius.st -r 8337 -g 5 -v 2 -w 128 -D1
If anyone is wondering I have a core i7 920 with stock cooling. Before anyone gives me a lecture on stock cooling, I'm not going through the trouble of switching out my CPU cooler unless I absolutely have to. That said, I'm looking for "intensity" parameters I can possibly change to reduce CPU load.

Where did you get the 5850? Maybe you are eligible for a manufacturer or vendor warranty. You can try RMA with XFX.
It sounds like the card most likely had some existing hardware defect, but what voltage did you use with it? Voltage is definitely the most volatile setting for a card.
