Im gonna delete this post if i can.. just to see if the author can disappear a thread he created.
Nope.. evidentally not.
It said that i can not delete my own topic in this board..
Does that mean in just this n00b thread, i wonder..

Like what if I posted a post i wanted to re post.. fresh - by deleting the original post..
but it had silly replys to it, and was in another board/thread here on bitcointalk?

Could I erase it then - thus disappearing my original mess?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BOB DOBBS "dobbscoin" GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!! 5,000 BOB on: January 10, 2014, 08:07:10 PM
How about them "BOB"(s)?

Download worked for me. The githib address seems to have changed from the com-http.us site I first heard about it, but the binaries and source are there. I downloaded a large ball of zip and took what I needed. There's a basic conf in there and a .bat file, which seems to do .. something. Got me.  Wallet synched with seven pers tho.. So, If you have any Slack for me, I'm try'n ta git sum.

1Jf8sgxa5DwE9hq6AziCwHntfyfkDoFpCS - Thanks in advance.

Seems the developer has a .bit (NameCoin DNS) website at http://www.SubGenius.bit
(how to browse the namecoin/p2p domain name system). Are there any pools or a blockchain explorer yet?

MAKE SOME NOISE!!
4  Bitcoin / Mining support / PLZ HELP: where are mined coins going? on: January 08, 2014, 06:11:09 AM
I know it's mining..
but I cant figure out where the coin from the blocks generated are going..

I am currently working with a cloned BitCoin v0.8.6, working with bitcoind and bitcoin-qt on a private two node test chain.  My server is on a remote linux machine and my qt client is on a local windows machine. They are each other's only active connection. It's a new blockchain with low difficulty..

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Generator Discussion on: January 07, 2014, 09:26:23 PM
The No.1 suggestion i'm hearing is:
Tell people what to do with their new alt. once it's downloaded.

They run it, it sits there.. then they cry.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / NameCoin .bit Hosting (3 NMC /.yr) on: January 05, 2014, 08:28:04 PM
I support NameCoin and host websites..
So I figured, I should also host .bit domains.

If you already have a .bit domain name (or want to get one), I am offering to host a simple 5 MB site/page with FTP upload login & a POP email account or simple email forwarder; to users who contact me here on bitcointalk. It's not much - I know, but it's cheap & professional hosting that will get you started. It's hosted on a Hostgator backbone in Houston, not on my personal cable modem - so it'll be up 24/7.

More can be arranged at a later time, providing your site isn't a liability issue.

http://www.wholesalehosting.bit is my .bit hosting project site.
Do not send any namecoins to me for your site until after you've contacted me first.

If you didn't know: Namecoin is an open source decentralized (p2p) top level domain name registration service, as well as a peer to peer 'crypto-currency'. In addition to being a private 'currency like' settlement instrument (cryptocurrency) - NameCoin allows for the use of .bit top level (like .com/.net) domain names, a DNS (domain name system) outside the control of the central authorities of the IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority); meaning that your domain name is not subject to seizure in the same way that .net and other top level names controlled by the central authority, because its resolution is ultimatelly assigned by its owner, through the wallet which registered it in the first place.

      Using NameCoin allows you to:
      • Securely register and transfer arbitrary names (keys), no possible censorship!
      • Attach values (data) to the names (currently up to 520 bytes)
      • Trade and transact namecoins, the digital currency NMC

To register a name, you must own some namecoins (NMC, the internal 'cryptocurrency' used by the software).

Since the NameCoin (NMC) blockchain is the authoritative source for .bit domain information, normal DNS servers cannot resolve .bit domain names without additional configuration. Because many DNS servers have not added support for .bit domains yet, to access .bit websites, you will need to do one of the following:

      • Change your computer's DNS
You can change the DNS server setting on your computer to point to a valid NameCoin DNS server.
This will enable your computer to resolve .bit domain names.
See here for a list of valid NameCoin DNS servers.[/list]

      • Change the DNS on your home router
You can also change the DNS server setting on your internet router to enable the ability to resolve .bit address on your entire home network. This process will vary depending on what router you have, so you will need to refer to the setup instructions provided with your router. You need to change the DNS server address that is handed out to DHCP clients on your network to a valid NameCoin DNS. Once this setting is changed, any device that connects to your home network will get the DNS server setting automatically.

      More info on DNS:
The domain name system or domain name server (DNS) is a system that stores information associated with domain names in a distributed database on networks, such as the Internet. The domain name system (domain name server) associates many types of information with domain names, but most importantly, it translates the domain name (computer hostnames) to IP addresses. It also lists mail exchange servers accepting e-mail for each domain. In providing a worldwide keyword-based redirection service, DNS is an essential component of contemporary Internet use.

DNS is useful for several reasons. Most well known, the DNS makes it possible to attach easy-to-remember domain names (such as "yahoo.com") to hard-to-remember IP addresses (such as 207.142.131.206). Humans take advantage of this when they recite URLs and e-mail addresses. Less recognized, the domain name system makes it possible for people to assign authoritative names, without needing to communicate with a central registrar each time.

nobody can help me..   but muself..  with the help of the interwebs..
it got to the point of me just reading and typing random shit tho, so who's to say exactly which of the last eight things i installed 'fixxed' it.. but i think it was that i needed to download and install 'jansson'.

In case anyone in the future has a similar issue, I tried alot of the suggestions from here:
      https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=253519.0

      and finally..

      checking for curl-config... /opt/bin/curl-config
checking for the version of libcurl... 7.24.0
checking for libcurl >= version 7.15.2... yes
checking whether libcurl is usable... yes

well atleast it configured.. lets see if it will 'go anywhere..
yeap, seems i have a functional miner.

      Following:
      https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=55038.0

      when I get to..
      $ ./configure CFLAGS="-O3"      I get this...
      Quote
checking for the version of libcurl... 7.24.0
checking for libcurl >= version 7.15.2... yes
checking whether libcurl is usable... no
configure: error: Missing required libcurl >= 7.15.2
My libcurl is 7.24.0  ..It's too current to work?
What can i do..  I don't want to use an old version of stuff..

I am using an ARM embeded linux on a Synology diskstation and mining an obscure coin with a low difficulty.. in my first attempt to mine anything. If I understand correctly.. required libcurl >= 7.15.2 means greater than or equal to.. and I'm using the latest libcurl 7.24.0, as installed by my ipkg installer.

I have considered just installing 7.15.2 like it wants from http://curl.haxx.se/download.html but I dont see it offered for my architecture.

libcurl - 7.24.0-1 - Curl is a command line tool for transferring files with URL syntax, supporting FTP, FTPS, HTTP, HTTPS, GOPHER, TELNET, DICT, FI
      libcurl-dev - 7.24.0-1 - Development files for libcurl

      were both installed with ipkg
      1. Why wont it work with 7.24.0 it is greater or equal to the required libcur.. as it is requesting..  grr
      2. can i force it to try .. or tell it its ok.. by editing cpuminer files somewhere?

      thanks in advance

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin Bounty on: December 30, 2013, 05:19:28 PM
Is it acceptable to request a bounty for a project that advanced DevCoin ideology?
I have a project theory that I'm working on that will seek open source developers and pay them in DevCoin earned through a bond release at CryptoStocks. The project will reward developers by paying out bounties in DVC for developing, advancing and hosting another open-source product.

The cryptostock offering will raise DVC by offering shares and thereby give people other places to invest/spend DVC - promoting its use, as well as raise DVC to return to open-source developers.. all while creating another open-source project of its own.

The obvious question begs: What's the project offering I wish to request a bounty for?
Certainly I'm not just requesting a bounty for a cryptostock project opening fee..

Although I will be using the bounty to offset the initial bond projects opening fee, the project I am working to develop is not quite ready to be publicly announced.. though I would be very interested to discuss it privately before it's official release statement - provided it weren't let into the wild before its time. I am really just asking if supporting the concept of - while fostering DVC's intended use .. is a valid reason to request a bounty.  do you know what i mean?

I <3 Alt.Coins..  BTC is really just an alt.coin to me.
If it weren't for alt.coins, I'd have only the BTC I was able to afford.

The alt.coin community is kinda like the revolutionary war days of private currency, and I hope that people eventually are able to accept different alt.coins for specific needs in personal exchange. I mean, wouldn't it be just too cool to deal outside of legislative 'commerce' when buying a bag of schwag..?  Does TheConspiray's jurisdiction even apply to me If I refuse to use their debt to secure the things I have every right to own.  God bless alt.coins.. just don't get caught holding the bag - if ya know what i mean..

When i go offline for too long I get out of any alt.coins that i'm just playing with and stick to the basics..
BTC, WDC & DVC  - w00t.  But that's just me.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DOGE on: December 29, 2013, 01:36:35 AM
From: Know your MEME - DOGE

      Origin
The use of the misspelled word “doge” to refer to a dog dates back to June 24th, 2005, when it was mentioned in an episode of Homestar Runner’s puppet show. In the episode titled “Biz Cas Fri 1”, Homestar calls Strong Bad his “d-o-g-e” while trying to distract him from his work...  Look a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tLSgRzCAtXA

On October 28th, 2010, a photo of a dog was submitted to the /r/Ads subreddit with the title “LMBO LOOK @ THIS FUKKIN DOGE,” where it received 266 upvotes, 218 points overall and 48 comments prior to being archived. Sometime in April 2012, Tumblr user leonsumbitches[15] uploaded an audio file of a computer reading a passage written like the commands of a turn-based adventure game about encountering a “doge.” The passage was paired with a photo of a woman patting a dog on the head[16] and has gained more than 33,000 notes as of July 2013.

But my FAVORITE.. is the Google Image search for DOGE  =) Enjoy.

How Pronounce!!?!  - Nobody seems to know..
      13  Other / Beginners & Help / WTT: I need a Million DVC to start a project on: December 29, 2013, 01:30:22 AM
I have a spotless reputation on CryptoThrift.com selling silver and assorted items.. I have some super items there and am developing a project offering that begins with a cryptostock bond offering that will raise DVC to pay bounties for development of the future application.  If you check my WELCOME Post, you can see a little about me and my recent entrance to crypto-currencies..

I am not willing to do all the jazz the FRN/USD to BTC sites require, and I am funding my ideas by trading.
If you like any of the things I have, I would be happy to talk to you about a trade - and if you have a million DVC to offer, I would certainly be interested in discussing my project with you in greater detail..  Of course, I'll eventually put together a full thread concentrating on the idea, but I'd like to have my initial stages secured before spending too much time defending myself in the great trool/flame war that always follows new ideas.

I hope this post does not qualify as: USELESS SPAM AND BEGGING
I am actually interested in a trade. I got some nice stuff.
      Thanks for looking.

there is a denomination emblazoned on the pieces as a historical marker reflective of an approximate amount for the year.

Right, I get that. historical marker and all. Certainly better than putting $10 on a 2006 NORFED round.. because the USD is trash and .25BTC 2013 represents what it represents. I like it even better than seeing 'FIFTY' on 1oz silver rounds..  And the QR link to the exchange rate is like a built in 1oz silver round calculator. + it's super beautiful.. but ya know people will forever be goin' .. ''but.. .25BTC equals.. such and such''  ..which i suppose will keep people talking about it.. So, um 'never mind.  Cheesy

Thanks to all who replied to my post. It was nice to come back after a day afloat in the forums to see that someone noticed and replied to my post. I haven't been out to amagimetals.com yet, but It's my next stop on the Internets.  I know eBay has a wonderful markup from my own experience there. This week I actually sold an ounce of silver for $275 =) Merry Christmas!! (=

x2 on the eBay 'But holeeee shit...lol' comment
No doubt folks see the QR code and the .25BTC and do some math..
Not taking into account that it's still just an ounce of silver.

I do love that round.. and the QR link to calculate itself when used in trade is cool...
but other than being worth .25 at the time it was minted, I cant really get behind that .25 bit.

Kinda like NORFED or AOCS putting USD numbers on sh*t.

If you care to enlighten me?
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Welcome to Me, the NewGuy story. on: December 23, 2013, 02:33:19 AM
I am a Cable Guy.., sometimes an Alarm Installer.. I live in Louisiana, and Texas.. and Arkansas, and Maryland... although I'm not a resident of anywhere. For many years, I went where the work was during the busy seasons, then wandered off to visit friends or family in the off-seasons. All the while I have been a 'Silver bug'.  As of Dec. 21 2013, I have been involved in crypto-currency for just over six weeks.

Like so many other people, I became interested in BTC when the price was too high to ignore my ignorance any longer. My first notice of it was at $3, then $10, then $49, then $120.  Luckily for me, and unlike so many others I've spoken with, I followed the cardinal-rule: 'dont invest what you cant afford to loose'. Six weeks ago I began looking for an auction site for some of my silver, to trade for some BitCoin.

I found BitMit.. but before I could trade anything, it closed down.. Then I found the nice folks at CryptoThrift.com and jumped in headlong -- trading some of my nicer rounds collected, and drop shipping other 'unique hand made items' some of my friends and acquaintances were into. In no time I had earned 20 LTC, which I traded for BTC just before the *CRASH OF 2013* - Some of it I invested in Scharmbeck shares at 0.005 and the rest I put into WDC, except for 10 LTC which I sold on eBay, and nearly $400 I had left in USD when my financial adviser 'FONTASE' (tongue in cheek) advised us all about the coming China Bitcoin Debacle..

      -
My first crypto-catastrophe was in the eBay case mentioned above - a paypal/eBay charge back case ..where my buyer claimed 'unauthorized access' to his account, but that ended in my favor (thank the gods), when I requested they review logs to find evidence of an unauthorized users actions.. They could find no evidence that anyone other than the registered user had used this persons account and i was given the rather ridiculous amount I had the individual LTC listed for..

But like I said.. I was a silver bug.. I collect new-issue rounds in small numbers and sit on them; keeping a handful of each after their value has exploded and I've traded them away for the next batch.  There's something about NOT using Federal Debt Receipts for an exchange that I really like. I'm certain that's what has ultimately got me so hooked on BitCoin & Alt.Coin.

Lots to learn - So late to the game. I'm excited - Project ideas to come.
Soon I will be able to upload an avatar!! -w00t.
Can't wait to mee you all.
