Although I highly doubt that their are groups out there today calling themselves Illuminati, it's fairly obvious that the ideals written in their own writings, especially from 1773, exist today through many elitists. I also doubt that Bitcoin was created as part of an elitist agenda. What I WOULD be concerned about is an infiltration which is step number 1 for the powers at be to take in order to take control or shut something down. If not in the form of legislation or statutes from the bureaucracy, it would come from much more creative means that would seem very "Bitcoin friendly" at first.
I am weary of it and I do keep my eyes peeled. Bottom line is, alternative currencies are an attack on something they control and have manipulated people to and believe in it's legitimacy.
Thomas Jefferson says it best:
-Thomas Jefferson "If the American People ever allow the banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers occupied. The issuing power of money should be taken from the bankers and restored to Congress and the people to whom it belongs. I sincerely believe the banking institutions having the issuing power of money are more dangerous to liberty than standing armies.
We are completely saddled and bridled, and the bank is so firmly mounted on us that we must go where they ill guide.
The dominion which the banking institutions have obtained over the minds of our citizens...must be broken, or it will break us."
(Letter to James Monroe, January 1, 1815).
-Thomas Jefferson to Edward Carrington "Paper is poverty,... it is only the ghost of money, and not money itself."
-Thomas Jefferson to Albert Gallatin, 1803 "[The] Bank of the United States... is one of the most deadly hostility existing, against the principles and form of our Constitution... An institution like this, penetrating by its branches every part of the Union, acting by command and in phalanx, may, in a critical moment, upset the government. I deem no government safe which is under the vassalage of any self-constituted authorities, or any other authority than that of the nation, or its regular functionaries. What an obstruction could not this bank of the United States, with all its branch banks, be in time of war! It might dictate to us the peace we should accept, or withdraw its aids. Ought we then to give further growth to an institution so powerful, so hostile?"
-Thomas Jefferson to William C. Rives, 1819 "Certainly no nation ever before abandoned to the avarice and jugglings of private individuals to regulate according to their own interests, the quantum of circulating medium for the nation -- to inflate, by deluges of paper, the nominal prices of property, and then to buy up that property at 1s. in the pound, having first withdrawn the floating medium which might endanger a competition in purchase. Yet this is what has been done, and will be done, unless stayed by the protecting hand of the legislature. The evil has been produced by the error of their sanction of this ruinous machinery of banks; and justice, wisdom, duty, all require that they should interpose and arrest it before the schemes of plunder and spoilation desolate the country."

Talk to a lawyer, preferably one specialising in securities. Who knows you might get a settlement from mtgox and rest of the community terms and conditions.
You will not find any justice even if you deserve it on the forum.
I'm not sure how that would help. I don't see how you can launch a "securities" investigation into a trade platform that trades something technically, no different then baseball cards as far as giving monetary value. Their are places you can buy/bid on baseball cards (like MtGox) and companies that give up to date monetary values on baseball cards but if a theft of baseball cards happened, how would you investigate by means of securities law?

What's your best guess for the next 1-6 months?
Is their still room for new miners to start now and still be profitable? (individual miners and people who have money to spent on a couple dozen rigs).
Now that we've seen this "bubble" stable out, do you still think value will graduate to $50USD or better and still be a player Vs the difficulty?

Seems too many of you playing this out emotionally. You have to put your emotions aside to be successfully making money especially a youngster like bitcoin. Successful traders on ForEx know they can't trade based on emotion.
All of this "omg i lost money! i baught at 8usd, went up to 30usd and now it's 10usd!" is nonsense. It's very natural and i'm glad to see bitcoin following the organic laws.
The 2, or 5 day average values are higher then ever. Keep mining and keep searching for ways to make your bitcoins useful in every day trading of goods and services.

How can we trust online wallets that's my question. I mean, how do I know who runs those sites and what they're doing with my coins? I dunno - seems risky to me!
I think it's the same reason people started using bitcoin in the first place. Good reputation with solid principles. Only time will weed out the mongers.
