1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [Hypothetical] Hi Fellow Newbies, Let's start trading with a 1000USD!! on: June 11, 2021, 04:48:47 PM
Hi Guys,

I know most of the super newbies are here to participate in Altcoin Bounties and earn some money, but some bounties need you to have at least one merit. How to get merit, learn something and engage in conversations and give valid opinions. It may be boring to go through crypto terminologies and learn new stuff.

Therefore I thought to initiate something engaging, something fun (at lease in my mind!), this may flop, but I am trying anyway.

These are the rules.

  • Let's assume you are given 1000USD and you must invest them in Crypto tokens/Coins whatever the way you need. You can not do day trading. You have to decide what are the coins/ tokens (Not necessarily only one type ) that you are going to buy and then hold them for one month.
  • Neglect the Exchange fees, Gas Fees.
  • You must provide a valid reason to buy those specific coins/tokens you selected. (Gut feeling is a valid reason, but if you can give proper reasoning I can send a merit on your way! )
  • After one week You have to return that 1000USD back, if you made profit you can keep it ( Still hypothetically! )

My Train of thought behind this:

I myself wandered in the Altcoin section and blown away by the number of bounty reports. I thought whether these people really back these projects, do they know anything about it? Do they conduct even a quick research on these tokens before investing our time/ money on these projects? Let's do a quick little investigation, let's see how others chooses projects, how their thought process works. That is all!!

2  Other / Meta / Re: What Would Be Your Reason to Leave Bitcointalk? on: May 30, 2021, 05:00:26 PM
Let me present you the most ridiculous reason ever!!

I left the forum 2 years ago, the reason was I became a perfectionist!

I created this account when I was in the university and I was obsessed with merit system at that time. Luckily for me I got merits for few posts and I needed to achieve merits for each and every post and It grew in to a headache, I put a lot of effort and thought most of the posts. I wanted to have a post count which does not have a mile difference with the merit count. Later this became stressful and I learnt that I do not know enough knowledge about Crypto in order have such high expectations.

Then I left the forum, stopped logging in, stopped worrying about merits nor posts.
Finished the degree, started a good job and just today I logged in and posting this!

Now the obsession is over, I am here to freaking stay!!
3  Other / Beginners & Help / If you want to make money, social media Bounty is not the way! (I guess) on: November 03, 2019, 02:06:46 PM
Hi, all the beginners,

Do not need to try to trick anyone, most of the new joiners are here in order to participate in the social media bounties to have a piece of the so-called crypto treasure to themselves. Most of the beginners get blinded with stories about people who won their lives by doing nothing but bounties.

Yes! It can happen, although I personally do not know anyone who has become a millionaire from doing social media bounties, I do not deny the possibility of a new altcoin which has the potential to bash every other Altcoin and make their early coin holders millionaires over one month.
Here you can find the famous Etherium post made by none other than Vitalik Buterin on the release of Etherium which possibly made their initial followers' invest a very success.

Needless to say, It is a long shot and we live in a world which is filled with scams and it is not rare to see people waste their time on scams for the return of nothing but regret.

Then what we can do? Bitcointalk forum is for bounties, right?

No, Hell no. This forum is not a bounty hosting platform. Bounties are a really small portion of this huge universe. There are a number of things are going on the forum which will amaze you, which will make you think twice what a small portion of this platform you have witnessed. Instead of following a repetitive task such as copying and pasting Social media posts without even knowing the returns would be a gamble, don't you think?
The first thing is you need to understand (Actually it should be not you, but we as I am also pretty inexperienced) what Bitcoin is and how it works, a simple idea will guide you more than you think. Instead of posting things like
Quote
Good Project!
Quote
Interesting Project, will invest for sure!
Quote
Sounds good, waiting for the ICO!
without even having the slightest idea on what is an Altcoin is, what is an ICO, what the hell is blockchain you would be able to make constructive posts and also that knowledge would help you to identify the scam projects just by a glance.

Then how do we learn this stuff, we came here to earn money, not to spend the little money we have?

(Disclaimer : I might get bashed for this part as senior members would say if your sole intention is making money you better stay out of the forum, this is not for money-hungry shitposters, But I know how most of the people think, they seek a way to come out of the hell they are living.)

You do not need to spend money on information anymore, this is not the 1800s! The whole world is on your fingertips, There are number of totally free courses you can follow, instead of blindly following a scammer why do not we seek and find?

Here are a few of the free online courses I have found (I have followed a few of them myself) and if you have time, ability to surf the internet please consider following one of them. And You can learn anything and everything by these sites. (I do not have any intention to promote any of the sites, but I thought there are people out there who do not know that free information is a goldmine and they are sitting on that without even considering to dig! )

Note: This may look like bullshit to you, you might find it more easy to do the repetitive task of sharing the same ol FB posts than sitting for hours trying to comprehend some new alien information. Please go ahead and follow the same routine, no worries pal. Lifeworks in a mysterious way!

4  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which categories do you follow most? on: November 02, 2019, 04:51:27 PM
Altcoins
I hardly go to the Altcoin section as it is full of really long spammy threads without any constructive posts.

Meta

I go to Meta very frequently, mostly to see the analysis, collected data presentations done by LoyceV, DdmrDdmr. And also I enjoy most of the discussions happening in the Meta thread as spammers tend to stay away from the Meta section out of the fear of getting nuked.

Bitcoin
From the Bitcoins section, I only read Bitcoin discussion and TBH I skip most of the threads.

Beginners & Help
I go here to check whether if there are valuable threads with good questions which might give a new insight to me as well. I enjoy the constructive answers for quality posts and also the hard bashings for spammy threads given by the senior members.

Serious Discussion
I enjoy Ivory Tower discussion to some extend.

Market Place
I frequently go to the Market Place section, not to buy or sell anything but to be amazed by the services out there. I always wonder how these members are in possession of this much amount of Bitcoins,  Altcoins.

Yep, That is all, I guess!

5  Other / Meta / Re: [INFOGRAPHIC] Experiences of a Bitcointalk Member on: November 02, 2019, 10:19:56 AM
.
.

Since you're a Member now, you're able to post images using the [img]http://tags.

Strangely its not working for some unknown reason, but you can check for the Forum bbcode by hovering over the image to make it work.

Though I have enough Merits  (bearly) to be promoted to the next level I did not have enough number of posts. That is the issue it seems.  Now I am surfing the forum to find a good article in order to give a my insights. Then I will be able to post photos.
Fingers crossed Tongue
6  Other / Meta / Re: [INFOGRAPHIC] Experiences of a Bitcointalk Member on: November 02, 2019, 04:17:42 AM

It seems since I am still a newbie I can not post Images, Bad luck for me!
(I know that post count is the one that is limiting me, will wait for some organic post, do not want to post spams and increase the post count)

EDIT:

Now I can post Images, as I have been promoted to Jr. Member!
7  Other / Meta / Re: please help on: October 06, 2018, 02:05:05 PM
I bought it on the telegram, I did not know the person. But he offered several accounts with various ranks.
I bought the account for $ 400.
I joined this forum about 2 months ago,

Why don't you tell us the names of other accounts he offered, my dear friend? Then we can find the seller and fix this I guess.
8  Other / Meta / Re: My Bitcointalk account get banned without any reason. Please help !! on: August 11, 2018, 03:29:35 AM
You need the reason behind the banning?

Here is a one even before the ban! (We have the Quickest service unlike other big boys Tongue )

Your this account also will be banned in few minutes.

Quote
Sorry JQCrypto, you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.
You have been banned by a forum moderator upon the request of number of forum members. You may not appeal anywhere as the reason is clearly proved: banappeals-w6pquw43@theymos.e4ward.com
you have  evade the ban by creating another account and posting in sections other than Meta! Do not try to create another account as YOU are banned, not the account!!

PS
Your this account will be banned again as soon as possible and for the reason do not create another thread in meta by a new account, just read the first part of the post and move on with you fantasy world where everything you do is correct and others are to be blamed!
9  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos: Are you working on the live server? Please let us (me) know on: July 30, 2018, 02:44:01 PM
I also set the option to Always logged in and never have been logged out of the forum without my consent.
Here are my thoughts,
  • It may be a security feature in the forum when a potential account hacking is detected
  • Your browser's cache memory may have deleted as it contains passwords and login information
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Now I'm awarding aMerits for old posts on: July 29, 2018, 02:30:08 PM
I don't think the concept of demerits has been approved yet.

Yeah I also think so as I went through all the replies of the Jetcash's original post regarding the idea of dMerits and found nothing about approval of that. Maybe it will be implemented in new forum software.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Posting another members content on: July 28, 2018, 02:56:59 PM
What about these ideas,

Eagle merits : For Scam busters, Merit abuse finders who has eyes of an eagle
Edu Merits : For posts which has an educational value
Effort Merits : For posts where the poster has done a lot of research, background check and digginng
Einstein Merits : For new ideas, innovative brain storms, great suggestions
Enjoyable Merits : For quick witty responses

IMHO none of these are "Elegant" Enough to be considered as an "Einstein" idea!  Angry

12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Now I'm awarding aMerits for old posts on: July 28, 2018, 02:27:56 PM
Can you explain me, what is  CMerits, dMerits, and aMerits Huh I have heard the only smerit.
dMerits : User A sends sMerits to user B  (Not merits) to distribute those merits to other users and number of merit of the user B does not increase.

CMerits: CMerits will be awarded to members who contribute to the forum. as C stands for contributing. Usually merits are sent to a post which is stand out between other posts, but in here the merit sender does not look for an outstanding post but a valuable member who really tries to help others and as previously said contributing to the forum.

aMerits: Archived merits are sent to the posts which are valuable and constructive but have gone unnoticed under the pile of shitty spam posts.

Note: Both CMerits and aMerits are sMerits, only difference is the criteria considered by the merit sender.

PS:
Hey Jetcash, I wanna know whether the idea of dMerits has been approved by Theymos or not? What is the progress of that idea as I believe it is a good move towards a better merit distribution! (Specially for small local boards where there are no merit sources!)
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Can I Earn Bitcoins? on: July 24, 2018, 05:41:56 PM
You wanna earn Bitcoins?
You can Start by reading those damn Pinned messages at the top of the each respective boards!!!!

If you look closer you will find a pinned thread says "Read before posting" and another which says "How to earn Bitcoins"

FYI:
Those threads a pinned for a reason!!
14  Other / Meta / Re: Please can we remove bounty and ICO threads from the beginners board on: July 24, 2018, 05:27:07 PM
What exactly do you mean by bounty and ICO threads?

Do we have to have older twitter and facebook accounts ( at least older than 6 months) in order to apply for Twitter, facebook bounty programmes ?

Are you talking about threads like this? Where newbies constantly ask same questions about social media bounties over and over agian. (I guess most of them do not even have a clue about other type of bounties other than facebook and Twitter)

EDIT
After posting this I went to beginners board and saw the potential root cause for the OP! (that long bulky article about Earning methods and the bugger who quoted that whole post and put "Nice article!")
15  Economy / Services / Re: A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin. on: July 21, 2018, 07:45:11 AM
Newb question: What is a hash? How is it generated?

I have already posted an article regarding the hash functions and the differences between two of most famous hashing algorithms, SHA256 (Used in almighty Bitcoin!) and Scrypt (Used in Eth blockchain).

As it is a rather long post I am not gonna quote or paste in here for the sake of tidiness of this thread, If you wanna take a look at that you are more than welcome!

Cheers!

PS:
Kudos for the great work done by the OP and hope you will become a merit source in near future as the community (Not talking about shitposters but about the members who cares about the forum! ) desperately needs more and more active merit sources!
16  Other / Meta / Re: Is this necessary? on: July 21, 2018, 06:47:02 AM
Is this thread necessary?
17  Other / Meta / Re: Improve the quality of new topics on: July 19, 2018, 05:38:29 AM
1. If your new message has written 20 pages of reviews and answers - 5 merits.

According to your fabulous idea this great well written post full of enlightenment should receive 5 merits as it has more than 30 pages of replies!

Everyone's standard of living is different。Are you satisfied with your current living standard?

With more than 670 replies, this post worth 5 merits for sure!

This past few months i dont know why but its hard for me to get sleep Sad any suggestion or opinion that would help me to got better sleep at night . Huh my regular sleep 4-5am Sad

With more than 100 pages of replies this poster should receive 20 merits which was names as Do you smoke weed!!

At least it's no longer seen as a criminal hard drug in many western countries and it go forward every day with legalizing and new informations.
So do you smoke weed? How long and how much?
How do you think your consume is taking a part in your daily life?

BTW As the last quoted post suggests Do you smoke weed and then post these?
18  Other / Meta / Re: Why does this users spams undisturbed? on: July 16, 2018, 10:10:25 AM
I reported him, and you should too!

He has been pasting same message all over the forum from last month and statistically speaking he has posted that exact message more than 90 times!! He will be banned as soon as a moderator sees this.

Note
Moderators are humans, It is unfair to think that they can monitor each and every message posted in the forum as more than 8000 posts are posted in an average day! Therefore as members of the forum whose intentions are on the well being of the forum we must do our part by reporting them!

PS:

For other users (me included) has been reserved the Ban IP, because this user spends months undisturbed keeping all posts?

Can you please elaborate the highlighted part a bit? Was your previous account banned?
19  Other / Meta / Re: Limit to new accounts every month on: July 13, 2018, 07:13:32 PM
The Idea is absurd!! Because of some spammers other enthusiasts should pay the price?

“It is more important that innocence be protected than it is that guilt be punished, for guilt and crimes are so frequent in this world that they cannot all be punished.
-John Adams

PS: I think that You are not a new member, Your previous account must have been banned and here you resurrect again with a cute little trick!
According to the quoted message you must have doing bounty hunting for a while! Please correct me if I am wrong!

Admin please when will the old spreadsheet going to be updated? Its been a month now but I have not seen anything. Thanks and hope to hear from you.
20  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lesson Learned !!! on: July 13, 2018, 06:56:20 PM
I may be not the one to talk about this since I have so little experience in the forum. But here  I go!

1. Do not ever ask for merits!! Do not try to creep from technical loop holes like "Oh man, Only begging for merits is banned, I did not begged, I just asked!" No It is not okay, Yes I know, sometimes We are pretty desperate when some "valuable posts" (The value of a post totally depends on the individual perspective!! Noobs like us tend to think after posting something that it worths some merit, but actually It is utter bullshit in the eyes of a more experienced user!) do not get rewarded and go deep under in the spamming mega threads where no one notices ever! BUT ASKING FOR MERIT IS STILL NOT OKAY!!!

2. About the negative trust, It can only be removed by the member who assigned it, Therefore contact him. Do not spam him, I thing he would remove the negative trust if he thinks that you have learnt the lesson. I have heard so much about the member ognasty and his attitude towards the forum, He must have done this out of the pure intention of making a spam free forum.

3. I have 3 sMerits left, but since this thread has been created solely in the idea of seeking attention from senior members with sMerits i am not gonna bother to look at your posts history.

Note:
Do not ask for merit, The surprise, Joy you get after seeing some of your posts have been merited is priceless.!!
