1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BEWARE OF CRYPTSY MANIPULATING NEW COINS- VERTCOIN SCREWJOB!! on: February 06, 2014, 06:43:38 AM
OMG.

As soon as my VTC are there I'll withdraw them to another exchange. IDIOTS!

BEWARE!

EDIT: As "soon"...  Roll Eyes

EDIT2: Or I'll just keep em...
First compiling the wallet did take 2 days (My first "save" laptop didn't have enough RAM, second first needed a clean install).
Now this cryptsy thing guess I should keep em  Cheesy.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 05, 2014, 06:04:27 PM
What is so hard to understand?

I said it doesn't work because the mining process becomes more difficult for everybody. As some guy here said, GPUs wont be able to cope and eventually the only miners will be ASIC with larger memory

Just adding standard DDR3 RAM is too slow.

DDR3-2133 Peak Transfer Rate: 17066⅔ MB/s

GPU-Z says my 7950 has 240GB/s. And scrypt relies on memory speed.

The new FirePro cards will get 12GB of RAM for example.

Dunno how cheap an ASIC is with massive GPU memory and GPU bandwith + the risk that N would be changed.

And miners would still be able to compete with CPU mining with large amounts of RAM at high N against high memory ASICs.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 05, 2014, 05:41:39 PM
Wouldn't a 1 MHz scrypt ASIC able to mine this at 500 KH is everyone is hashing at half their max? What is stopping from small gridseeds to scale?

haha, fortunatelly not Cheesy ASICs are out of this..
they are built directly to be used on scrypt nothing else.. they are dumb devices doing just one task..
GPU can adapt to different n factor in this algo which will increase through time.. so even if they started to design new asics to VTC right now (and it is not really simple process), by the time its out, VTC may have higher n factor putting them again out of game Cheesy
This is why VTC is and WILL be ASIC resistant...

ASIC prevention will kick in in two years. Adaptive N-Factor is BS branding. VertCoin is just another shitcoin
ASIC prevention is NOW, dude. Have you even tried to mine this coin? It's hard as hell. The developers here are aggressive and will listen to the community. ASIC prevention is key feature of this coin. They will change N-factor scheduling if needed.

It doesn't work. The mining process simply becomes more difficult for everybody mining the coin when the 'Asic prevention' kicks in.

This.  Looking at the code, that's part of the reason hash rates are half of what normal scrypt coins get.  When the next Nfactor tick kicks in, hash rates will cut in half again.

Worse yet, when that next Nfactor tick hits, all of those currently working settings that everybody has optimized for all their cards will start killing cards like the normal scrypt settings are for the current Nfactor.

Sure, it's ASIC-proof, but it'll end up being GPU-proof in just a tick or two as well.

Yeah it's soooo hard to change a config every few years.
It's pathetic how they want to see Vertcoin dying. Cheesy

Did you even read what I wrote?

Obv. troll is obv.

dude VTC is far from innovative. Asic prevention will only kick in in about two years, according to the chart on the OP (lol.) By then we will have moved on seomthing much better
I fail to see why ppl arent dumping it.

"Adaptive N-Factor" such BS branding. oh lawd

Wrooong. It's already ASIC proof against any scrypt asic that's why verts hashrate right now is just 50% of litecoins.
Also the schedule isn't fixxed, the devs can always fork if asics WOULD come for a specific N before N changes which would render them useless and would be a huge money waste because they couldn't mine a day.
It is and will be asic proof.

We'll have moved to something much better?
What do you think should be done better?
If you have constructive cirtics to improve this coin just tell us your ideas. VTC is open to changes.

Right now I see no problems with Vertcoin technically.

CoinedUp was always this "low". (0.009)
The adjustment of the two markets was required, it just went up on cryptsy that high because of the blocked incoming vtcs.

OH MY GOD.

Went to sleep really happy last night about the price etc only to wake up to see someone hacked my Cryptsy and stole all my 350 vtc i've been working really hard on for the past 2 weeks.. My e-mail has also been hacked apparently..

First be sure your PC is clean and your wallet is secured.

Maybe 350 guys could just sent you a coin?
Will hurt nobody and you're happy again. Grin

I would send the first...

Vertcoin (VTC) has now rank #7 of volume:

Anyone got good settings for a 270X?
Using  -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8192 -I 12 at the moment. Getting 150KH/s.

270X should be able to get a bit higher KH/s, right? Like 180 or something?

My R9 270 (gigabyte so slight oc) @ PCIe x4 does 167kH/s with:
--shaders 1280 -I 12 --worksize 256 --gpu-threads 2 --thread-concurrency 6400

Haven't received one for 3 hours and 30 min now..

Look at my payouts: http://explorer.vertcoin.org/address/VcsTzvXAMv6DBj8HkDvAF2zzLWXvSwZCBi
With ~420kH/s I also got pauses of 3 hours sometimes but at the end of the day I get as much coins as expected.

What's your hashrate?

We just mined block 28273.

http://explorer.vertcoin.org/block/32d1cc11ab49c1c0dea38fe0cc5e4e203d6df925b0e421b608a07dfd6ba7c292

I'm quite certain that I submitted shares, yet no payout?  I really don't want to go to a regular pool, but I can't keep burning electricity for nothing...

VsHajHprZ5vWP96Nr8xTkwJHywgVKPz28Q

This is me if anyone would like to take a look...

I'm sorry - it seems my pool just beat you to it! http://explorer.vertcoin.org/block/4a31473891064f615e190d2368fef2fe11f6690420f85b08fc7e0e54c43f91af

I suspect your block is about to go orphan, but who knows - mine might! Good luck.

EDIT: PS. maybe you got unlucky on 28278, but p2pool just mined 28279 and 28280 back-to-back, so your luck seems to have turned!

And still no payout.  What gives?

Seems like i'm not getting paid using P2p?

http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/12797/why-is-my-p2pool-share-not-payed-out

Note that the hashrate he mentions refers to litecoin

Never thought this late in the game I'd be buying GPUs, but, well, here I am.

Haha could come from me Grin.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: January 25, 2014, 08:54:18 PM

Yes I do appreciate the open for discussion approach taken in altcoin world. I get it,
But you would do well to keep it one sided in public. Take the views in, and discuss in private rather than debate with public.

Price is fifty percent off the highs since your very important announcement and you have an open debate on whether the miners will just fork off with a new coin and then wtf am I holding?

Shut up and implement the changes and stop talking about implementing changes.

No disrespect intended. Markets do not like uncertainty and every buyer is relying on you to know what you are doing. Exude total confidence in your product. Don't talk, act, improve and disregard the noise.

Vertcoin is a winner. Don't fuck it up. Thanks...

Well I actually prefer that they ask the community which are the ones using the currency.
