2  Bitcoin / Electrum / Problems using Electrum with a VPN on: March 05, 2015, 07:45:31 PM
Hi guys , I am having some problems using Electrum with a VPN service. Whenever I run Electrum directly it connects and the indicator turns green, however when I start up my vpn (cyberghost) and then run Electrum, the indicator remains red and the status is displayed as "not connected". Please I would really appreciate if someone could tell me what I am doing wrong here. I want to create a new anonymous wallet on Electrum and I would like to use a VPN to do this . Thanks in advance.

Do I uninstall the old version before installing the new one ? if I install the old version then what happens to my wallet and the funds in it? how do I restore the wallet?

If you have the 12-word seed with you, there shouldn't be any problem. Just uninstall the program like what you would normally do with other programs and then reinstall it back. Look under File menu and click New/Restore. Choose a file name and then save it. The program will prompt you whether you want to start with a new wallet or restore one from a seed.
As in your case, you should select restore from seed

Thanks for replying. I can't seem to find electrum in my control panel / list of programs. Please how do I uninstall electrum?

go FILE/new/restore

P.S you can have multiple wallets (no need to delete old one, they can be all at same place) but only one of them can be open at the time.

I clicked on file on my electrum but I can't find the "new" option. how do I go about this?

if ti work like core, you just need to remove your wallet from the roaming folder, and restart the client

I don't really understand but I don't want to get rid of my current wallet, I just want to create another one so that I can have multiple wallets.

So after almost 6 months I am returning to this topic, I abandoned the idea of mixing coins but now I am back to it all over again so it wouldn't really make sense to create a new topic entirely. Anyway would like to ask this:
when mixing coins for the sake of anonymity, would I have to create a totally new address on my electrum wallet to receive the mixed coins? Also I have cyberghost VPN on my pc, would this be enough to ensure that my payments are anonymous?

Hi guys. I would like to use a crypto to crypto exchange service to make anonymous BTC payments, I have heard that this is safer and more anonymous that coin mixing services like bitmixer.io, however I haven't used a crypto to crypto exchange service before, so I would like to know which service is the best for crypto exchange (based on your experience). I look forward to your recommendations. Thanks in advance.

14  Economy / Service Discussion / anyonymous credit / prepaid card on: January 13, 2015, 07:49:22 AM
Hello everyone
Please I would appreciate if someone could recommend a trustworthy and reliable anonymous card that could be used online for payments and for paypal also. I read somewhere that Podex could be used for this; however I have been coming across some mixed reviews so I want to tread with caution on this issue. I would really appreciate your response regarding this issue. Thanks in advance.

16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie question : Cloud mining on: October 05, 2014, 08:39:36 PM
Best way to make money from bitcoins is to buy them and then forget about them for sometime. Good luck!

How do I know when to sell and where exactly do I sell ?
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie question : Cloud mining on: October 05, 2014, 08:05:37 PM
NO! Just NO! Mining days are over and so called "cloud mining" is just a scam to hook N00bs.
with the current prices, you will be WAY more profitable if you just buy BTC.

Simple, don't do it.
Explanation: Do you think cloud companies would sell you their services for lets say 50$ a month if they can earn 60$ a month mining with those same equipment? Of course they would not.

Cloud mining is generally overpriced and will not be profitable for customers. In order for you to profit from cloud mining the rate that difficulty increases will need to slow dramatically.

Thanks for all the replies. Going by what most of you have said here cloud mining isn't the way to go . So I would like to know what methods you would suggest for making profit through bitcoin. Would bitcoin trading (bitstamp) work ? I need some advise on what would be profitable.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Newbie question : Cloud mining on: October 05, 2014, 07:22:05 PM
Hi Guys
Sorry if this seems like a silly thread , I am new to bitcoining and I would like to know a little bit more about mining / trading bitcoins. I have been reading some posts from fellow users here concerning cloud mining services. My question is this , How profitable is cloud mining and what is the minimum amount I could use to start mining / trading bitcoins , If possible I would also appreciate if you guys could suggest reliable cloud mining / trading services that I could use . I would really appreciate some response.
Thanks in advance

Anyone ? Huh
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie question on bitcoin transactions on: July 22, 2014, 07:10:47 PM
It would be advisable to use some kind of mixing service (bitcoin fog - only accessible via tor, or bitmixer.io - accessible via the clearnet) after you purchase your coins on an exchange.

When you go go spend your coins you should use a VPN or TOR to mask your IP address as the person who sent the TX.

Or, you can simply use Tor browser to access http://blockchain.info/pushtx or https://btc.blockr.io/tx/push to push your tx to the network. Smiley

Can you guys please explain how this works ? Would like to use either one of the methods suggested but i don't have a clue. I'm new to using btc
