Monday Bump

Centralized Currency like the British Pound, really don't Store Value well at all...
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's to stop a 'Bitcoin 2' taking over... on: March 18, 2019, 01:29:00 AM
I don't know much about the blockchain technology behind bitcoin to be honest.
However I have heard it is not without it's flaws - I've heard scaling and transaction speed to be two things. (The lightning network is going to speed things up i gather?)

Lightning is one of many 2nd layer solutions being used for payments with bitcoin. There will be other options and even 3rd layer solutions for payments over the next few years.

Seeing as Bitcoin was the first it'll always have that, and it is being updated with things like the lightning network and will likely receive many more updates over time, keeping it's edge.
But what is to stop another 'gold/value storage' coin with better technology than bitcoin taking over.?
Most answers I assume will entail: 1) it was the first 2) lots of people believe in it 3) limited supply cap.

Satoshi isnt involved in Bitcoin anymore now is he?

We know a Government wont create "better" bitcoin... why would a development team or a company create a "digital money" and somehow also make it fair for everyone ? That team of developers first need to convince all bitcoin holders it is better and more secure THEN convince people they dont have a motive to create a digital money for their own gains.

The size of a development team and amount of scaling solutions to compete with what bitcoin already has would be too difficult to "compete" with. Just join the "Sound Money" team that is on bitcoin and help that network grow...why would a competitor in money be a valuable spend of time, unless you are trying to create money you can rig....which wont work.

To top that It could have modern improvements that some of the other altcoins have these days - instant transactions and better scaling (no idea what that is btw) e.t.c.

Altcoins exist for OTHER reasons than to be money.

Altcoins that "run projects" like BAT token, could have used Bitcoin as money but they wanted to create a token, control the distribution and sale of that token. That lowers its value to a lot of people who are only interested in "sound money" like bitcoin offers. Nobody is claiming BAT token is like bitcoin but SOME people in altcoin trading threads seem to really believe BAT is like money....its nothing like money though.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Bitcoin Movie “Crypto” Shows Hollywood’s Total Misguidedness on: March 13, 2019, 10:18:04 PM
It's not even really in theaters because whoever made it must know the movie sucks.

They probably hoped to sell it to a streaming service but got no interest lol
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The used of Bitcoin in Africa on: March 12, 2019, 03:24:44 AM
Africa still not have good place for bitcoin because many country still not understand about how to use bitcoin, maybe need promotion on africa how to make bitcoin become more popular transaction there.

People in Africa want currencies that aren't printed by the central banks there though. You can sell USD easily...They were also first to adopt mobile payments with MPesa but the fees using M-pesa are up to 20%, people will definitely adopt bitcoin more over time.

It's the on-ramps and off-ramps to buy bitcoin in Africa that need to increase and have easy ways to move Rand or USD there into crypto. These countries have the most to gain from acquiring sound money.

They have to come up with a solution soon..

Global Debt is $250 Trillion

Quote
According to The Institute of International Finance (IIF), the total world debt is roughly estimated to be $247 trillion. By the 2018 year end, the total world wealth was estimated to be $317 trillion. But most significantly, total world debt increased 394% over the past 20 years, from $50 trillion to $247 trillion, while total world wealth increased 133% over the same period.

The money supply is already in the Quadrillions... think about that... only in fiat money does Quadrillion become possible. Where do we go when half a Quadrillion is the world debt?

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs. Gold, Fiat and Altcoins (Updated: Traits of Money) on: March 06, 2019, 06:58:30 AM

Mimblewimble doesn't require a fork and is one of multiple solutions that are expected over the next decade.

Since we are only 10 years old in bitcoin, the need for privacy on bitcoin hasn't been a huge concern yet. If it were, the privacy coins would show more users and adoption, while bitcoin can still add sidechain and 2nd layer solutions at any point

I technically agree with this part

But we should take a deeper look and try to understand why privacy is not a big concern (or a concern at all). I have two perspectives on this. First of all, people are using cryptocurrencies for speculation mostly (that's kinda common knowledge but still worth mentioning in this context), and when you are using an exchange for trading, privacy is not what you typically look for or care about (apart from all coins necessarily being in the same league there by definition)

Further, there is a deeper paint to this as the majority of people (and that would be like 99% as I'm inclined to think) don't need the level of privacy that coins like Monero, ZCash, etc offer. These people are quite satisfied with what Bitcoin already has in this department (without any mimblewimble). I could even go so far as to say that a lot people would exchange a little less privacy for a little more profit and without thinking twice at that

It's not a concern because it hasn't affected the price or the status that bitcoin is the digital gold that funds every altcoin project and ICO.

Sell it and move on if you want. The second privacy becomes an issue, the largest amount of developers in the space will have a timeline for solutions.

It has the largest amount of development and infrastructure throughout this space. Other things die if somehow bitcoin can't be used to fund all of these projects.

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways to relieve stress from "crypto" scammers when all you value is bitcoin? on: March 06, 2019, 06:50:14 AM
whats your problem with altcoins, after all bitcoin was also an altcoin created into a world environment that already had currencies.

Bitcoin Funded EVERY Altcoin that exists today. How about 95% if the Alt-coins start showing some value?

Bitcoin started the whole "cryptocurrency hype" that alts leach off of to take peoples bitcoin. It was never an altcoin though.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways to relieve stress from "crypto" scammers when all you value is bitcoin? on: March 06, 2019, 03:13:22 AM

they realise their action is going to weaken the bitcoin, and the developers also don't want to miss the train to make profit, now we are flooded with tons of no value alt coins and tainted reputation, if we can focus and have the same mindset for bitcoin, then btc could progress better and the adoption could become faster

so what if they will invest on those sh*t coins  ? yes they can earn a profit but the risk is also big and not all times they can earn  .  they did also loose  . while you that invest on bitcoin and other legit coins are still contiuing to earn a good profit with lesser risks  .  and besides not all are going for sh*t coins because majority of crypto enthusiasts are also wise and knowledgeable person  .  so dont worry meyt bitcoin value wont be affected that much .

There is a new industry now surrounding ICO, Alt-coin, Airdrops, Bounties etc etc just like Mining, Wallets, Exchanges have entire industries around them in different countries.

The difference is there are actual scammers creating business only around "New Coins" that are just going to rob new people to the space. We see it time and time again, so from our point - let's just wait 10 years and see which coins last...

There will probably be 5 of the top 10 altcoins still in the top of market cap. There is no way to tell which 5 will live and which will die though...
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs. Gold, Fiat and Altcoins (Updated: Traits of Money) on: March 06, 2019, 12:26:21 AM
Bitcoin can't and won't integrate most features (including private/confidential transactions) for political reasons.

Do research before ignoring wasabi wallet and mixers that have existed for years. The privacy of bitcoin isn't part of the protocol (yet) but that doesn't mean privacy options aren't available and increasing.

These don't compare to mandatory private transactions at the protocol level like Monero. Enforcing privacy at the protocol level would require a hard fork and would deteriorate Bitcoin's public and transparent ledger. That's extremely controversial and will therefore never happen without a network split

Somehow missed this interesting part

It is not only the requirement to hard fork that will hurt Bitcoin in case someone decides to add more privacy to it. We all know what happened to ZCash. I'm not very technically familiar with it, but as far as I know, it is basically a Bitcoin fork with more privacy in mind. And this privacy backfired heavily as a few regulated exchanges were forced to remove it because its transactions were hard to trace. Now imagine the same thing happening to Bitcoin once we have a similar feature introduced to it. So it is a double-edged sword of sorts

Mimblewimble doesn't require a fork and is one of multiple solutions that are expected over the next decade.

Since we are only 10 years old in bitcoin, the need for privacy on bitcoin hasn't been a huge concern yet. If it were, the privacy coins would show more users and adoption, while bitcoin can still add sidechain and 2nd layer solutions at any point.
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: Deutsche Bank (Hitler and Trumps Bankers) Raid a Case for Bitcoin? on: March 06, 2019, 12:18:32 AM
Yes, the scandals will buried soon because we both know that there are many powerful involved in this

you were correct there!
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: How to BUY BITCOIN at the "right" price on: March 06, 2019, 12:14:16 AM
It's feels good buying bitcoin the last few weeks at this $3400-$3800 range.

Still holding only a bit of fiat for that drop everyone is predicting or catch it at the $5k level heading back up if need be.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways to relieve stress from "crypto" scammers when all you value is bitcoin? on: March 05, 2019, 11:29:35 PM

Is that MONEY? Do you have any reason to believe that is anything close to global decentralized internet money?

I didn't say anything about that. I only said that if you invested in this particular 'shitcoin' early you would not have wasted your time.

You just say that and provide no arguments.

You seemed to want the arguments repeated regarding Economic, Cryptographic, Game Theory, Governance, Psychological and Network Effect properties that other "coins" dont have. Now is not the time to be speculating on new coins. That's the only point... its not hard.

We still have billions of people that dont plan to try understanding this stuff because it's wrapped in a get rich quick scheme.

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways to relieve stress from "crypto" scammers when all you value is bitcoin? on: March 05, 2019, 10:32:31 PM
This post could be relevant somewhere back in 2017-2018 when cryptocurrencies had a huge amount of new users attracted by insane and fast income. Now most of these people either lost their money and disappointed in cryptocurrencies or finally realized how all those things work.
Anyway, there is no such big amount of new coins.

99% of the world population does not own or believe in bitcoin or crypto currencies.

That is at least partially due to the confusion created in the ICO and New Coin space that currently exists. People who wrote off "crypto" as being anything legitimate won't come back or will NEED people to remember that this stuff isn't known or easily understood by people.

There needs to be reasons for people to come in and value bitcoin beyond speculation... until many more alt-coins close up and go away nobody should assume that mass adoption of bitcoin will be soon.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways to relieve stress from "crypto" scammers when all you value is bitcoin? on: March 05, 2019, 10:18:40 PM

Whenever people realize bitcoin is here to stay it seems many start searching for some mythical next bitcoin.

For anybody in search of the next Bitcoin is a total waste of time.

You just say that and provide no arguments. How do you know? Someone who bought Eth very early could be rich now and would have not 'totally wasted their time'.

Do you know what Ether DOES?

https://www.ethereum.org/ether

Quote
The crypto-fuel for the Ethereum network

Quote
Who needs ether?

Developers who intend to build apps that will use the ethereum blockchain. Users who want to access and interact with smart contracts on the ethereum blockchain.

Is that MONEY? Do you have any reason to believe that is anything close to global decentralized internet money?

That fact this needs to even be stated, shows the level of intelligence among posters in this space.

It is very clear if you learn to read and digest information before posting that you could understand the difference but make no effort at all.

It needs to have the Economic, Cryptographic, Game Theory, Governance, Psychological and Network Effect properties that WILL NEVER be replicated or modified to create decentralized digital money the world adopts like bitcoin.

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So I interviewed with Bitmain in Rockdale TX back in November. Ranting on: March 05, 2019, 05:39:50 AM
Bitmain laid off %80 of its employees, tried to ipo on lies,wu stepping down just seems like a big train wreck cluster fuck coming soon.

This will happen in every bear market for the next decade with companies for various reasons.

Companies that overvalue "new-coins" or try to make a business out of some shiny shitcoin will go down most often.

Really good, innovative, sound strategy, large teams building things people will value 10 - 50 years from now will last. There are very few alt-coins that fit that bill. Amount of time, projects, teams and funding surrounding an alt, suggest higher value.

Anything that was a recent ICO or New Coin that didn't need to be an alt-coin is going to get rekt.

People working for those teams will also have to play the career change game, of finding similar projects like these shitcoins to earn money later OR move to high value projects with actual reason to exist. It likely gets harder to be hired by these projects the more involvement people have with shitcoins or failing projects in this space over time.

Then there are the companies that just can't manage money at all. Even with all of the right parts for a long term projects that everyone wants, theft and mismanagement of funds by so many people in the crypto space is still everywhere.

We're building money for the internet, on the internet with teams created through it as well....it's going to take some time for the dust to settle on how all of this is supposed to work well for everyone involved.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Ways to relieve stress from "crypto" scammers when all you value is bitcoin? on: March 05, 2019, 05:01:52 AM
The "next" Bitcoin Myth

Whenever people realize bitcoin is here to stay it seems many start searching for some mythical next bitcoin.

Sometimes resorting to shilling shitcoins that should be illegal in some cases, to pretend have any value.

Trading Shit-Coins to Waste Time (and Money)

This creates a bit of a problem in crypto currency. Many of us understand bitcoin and that it isn't like a startup tech company that can somehow be disrupted.

There are Economic, Cryptographic, Game Theory, Governance, Psychological and Network Effect properties that WILL NEVER be replicated or modified to create decentralized digital money the world adopts like bitcoin.

To kill time between the $10 million bitcoin and where we are now, trading shit-coins has become a common gambling game.

Many people waste precious bitcoin trying to earn even more bitcoin on low-value crypto that nobody values.

Warning to BTC Newbies

This is a fools errand that plays out the same continually throughout history.

New assets and markets open up, everyone jumps in to make "major gains" and lose their money time and time again.

All while precious assets like gold, or digital gold that bitcoin has become, just sit there storing value and securely transferring it without the need for 3rd parties.

Anyone new to bitcoin, please think twice before placing value on "new coins" that are merely pumped and dumped by the bitcoin traders looking to make even more bitcoin off the newbies. It's a tough new internet trading market out there. It could take another 20 years for proper valuations of crypto and Bitcoin's continued dominance in it to be known to the entire world.

No reason to waste your time and precious bitcoin on Alt-coins when you can troll shitcoiners with memes to remind them how dumb they are daily.

We have to stay busy and productive somehow before Fiats are pegged to Bitcoin!

18  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Alternatives to Coinbase? on: March 04, 2019, 11:01:16 PM
~snipped~

From what country you from?

The features you want are always present (as it should be) on a crypto local exchanges.

Try to search for it's available on your country. Or else I will say you must stick with Coinbase and deal with the fees especially your concern about no.1. The instant transfer from bank is one of a good advantages.

And by the way, how much fees we are talking here?

We're building this out by country where to buy (and sell) bitcoin anywhere.

https://www.bestbitcoinbuyers.com/

It's split between the "bank connected" exchanges, Anonymous Options available per country and any other sources like ATM's or meetups even. Low fee bitcoin ATM's are rather rare, some places seem quite keen on them though...

Every country is going to have different "types" of buying and selling over the next 10 years scaling up or down based on their national currency/politicians actions towards bitcoin and "crypto"

We just want to see which countries go "underground" and which ones allow it with their national banks easily...it's going to be interesting!
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A simple search could save lot of money from ICO scammers on: March 04, 2019, 10:48:47 PM
Or just don't invest in ICO's for a decade or two  Roll Eyes

They aren't investment opportunities as much as scammers want people to believe they are. Until there is some regulation on the ownership of companies like and shareholders rights through ICO's (their aren't any currently), these it is best to stay away from.

Some pretend it's an unregulated stock market, which allows for partial ownership of a company. Initial Coin Offers are just non-refundable, zero ownership rights tokens to represent something a "team" plans to build. Whether they build anything or even have a good idea are vague at best with most of these.

It's a great way for people who can't raise money through IPO's, banks or venture capital to pretend they will start something and basically steal people's bitcoin.
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: wallet securing !! on: March 04, 2019, 10:39:56 PM
We cover the easy/free/secure wallets for newbies

https://www.bestbitcoinbuyers.com/wallets/

These would all be approved by the bitcoin core team obviously and have been used by thousands of bitcoiners for years.

Then there are the more costly hardware wallets for those with more than a few dollars to secure on a device that costs $$$

Either is fine to use but for first timers it's super annoying trying to figure out how to just get bitcoin into a wallet and how it works to not lose it.
