1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 20, 2014, 12:49:41 PM
I am new to this world of virtual coins, but I am a Software Engineer.

I am having trouble launching the program, the x64 binary provided. I use the following command line:
cudaminer -d gt555m -C 2 -i 0 -o stratum+tcp://coinotron.com:3334 -O user.worker:password

and I get this:
*** CudaMiner for nVidia GPUs by Christian Buchner ***
                     This is version 2014-02-18 (beta)

[2014-02-19 17:01:32] Unable to query CUDA driver version! Is an nVidia driver installed?

I believe this is due to the Laptop specs, it has both a NVidia GT55M 2GB and a Intel card. I have set the NVidia card to be the default card but it does not seem to be enough. I can't disable the Intel Card. I have a Lenovo ideapad Y570, is a fairly good and powerful laptop, I would like to get some juice out of it.

Any ideas?  I am ready to donate my first Litecoin to the right answer
thanks!
Can you run any of the examples which come with the cuda toolkit?

How do you calculate maxcoin per day?

Profit calculator and convertor for Maxcoin

http://dwarfpool.com/max/calc
This does not work. I mined with constant speed for 24 hours and the returns were only a quarter of what they claimed. Expect a 4th of what it says.

because you do not know how to read. the difficulty has been going up massively over the past few days. the calculator only tells you what you would get if the difficulty rate remained constant and your pool and miners had 100% uptime
Thanks for the reply. I did not put any diff in it I just used the default one. I checked the page with the default difff. and after 12 hours I compared with my gains. If the diff jumped ok, but It seems a big difference for 12 hours. One way or another is brings me less "money" than the Litecoin, overall still on the minus when I put the elctricity

I have a hexacore with 32 GB RAM, 1 R9 290x and 1 Titan.

Hello,

How is this mixed proof of work / proof of stake working? Could someone give some pointers?

2.2) Buy top-of the line AMD GPU - would probably double my hashrate, but would leave my current NVidia useless - and somehow I've grown fond of the Nvdia and cudaminer :p

Why would it leave the NVidia useless?
There´s no problem combining amd and nvidia cards in one rig.
you just need to install both graphics drivers and run two different miners.
Or am i misinterpreting something here?
I've read mixed result on running both AMD and nvidia at the same time, and I'd like as little messing around and trouble as possible.

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 and using 1 AMD card and 1 Nvidia. It is tedious to install, but after a few trials it worked. First I had the nvidia cards on the secondary slot. I  installed everything for CUDA , test that it works. NExt I put in the AMD card and installed the drivers and the the other needed packages. The xserver must brun on the AMD card. I run cgminer and cudaminer in the same time.

Hello,

I wanted to mine some Yacoin but all the pools reject connection for both cudaminer and cgminer. Is there any pools which work?

If I can finally set my rig for Yacoin mining I am curious if titan is faster than my 290x.

Hello,

It might sound weird, but I have 3 660 ti cards, which I bought for other CUDA related stuff, and I am not sure what to do with them.

660Ti are excellent miners, also for Yacoin. The three cards together do 10kHash or slightly more.
by all means put them to good use. Pick a 3 slot gaming mainboard, e.g. GA-990FXA-UD3
a cheap Sempron CPU and a 750W PSU and mine away.

you could earn about 10 Euros a day with power costs in the order of 2-3 Euros/day,
getting return of investment on the mainboard and additional components in about a month.

Thank for the reply. I made fast calculation and I got 500-600 euros from alternate. I will have to think if it is worth it.

Would it ne worth it to invest money in a case and+MB+CPU+RAM <8200 to 2500 euros+electricity)  to do mining or just sell them for 300 euros in Germany.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 11, 2014, 03:02:33 PM
What kind of hashrates are Radeon cards getting? Maybe it's worth buying an ATI card so I have both nVidia and ATI accessible. Could be useful for Stacycoin and more!
People reported up to 400 MH/s for the fastest card and when I restart I can check this. I have linux with 290x and Titan and it was a pain to isntall them. In the end I had to remove the AMD, install everything related to CUDA and nvidia and then put back the amd and install the rest. Fro the amd you need to install the opencl and I had to use several versions before I got one which worked with cgminer 3.7.2 (3 for keccak).
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 11, 2014, 01:21:29 PM
I've found that I can go from 65 MH to 102 MH mining Maxcoins if I just open an avi in VLC player and put it on repeat.  It doesn't need to be fullscreen or anything, I usually just minimize it.

The X server on linux allows to set max performance on the card which run the server. Is this what happens when you start chrome or vlc?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 11, 2014, 12:22:57 PM

cudaminer.exe -q --algo=scrypt:2048 -d GTX780 -C 0 -b 512 -i 1 -m 1 -H 2 -l Z12x20 (vtc) -> 335kh/s (and as low as 252kh/s...pretty wild swings but mostly 300+)

I got the strange effect that while Google Chrome is started and visible the hash rates are higher. Does not even have to show a specific web page.

But for now I've stopped mining VTC via p2pool because there is currently a problem with low hash rate workers not getting paid what they should. A fix will be rolled out by VTC p2pool operators soon hopefully.

Christian

Can someone confirm this happens also if the interface is running on different card?  Is it possible that running flash forces some kind of performance mode?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 10, 2014, 02:20:21 PM
I'm telling you open Chrome or something that makes the GPU stepping increase?  Also run maxcoind with two less cores in affinity.  Yields extra hash for unknown reason?
Just put in maxcoin.conf option:
gen=0

This will disable CPU mining, and keep low CPU usage on it.

Christian, is it possible to subscribe to your git account, so that I get an update for the new versions?

Is this good or bad? I tis slow, because I am running another cuda program in the same time.

I got an error in last build attempt.
Code:
maxcoin.cpp: In function ‘int scanhash_keccak(int, uint32_t*, const uint32_t*, uint32_t, timeval*, timeval*, long unsigned int*)’:
maxcoin.cpp:90:42: error: ‘min’ was not declared in this scope
   pdata[19] = min(max_nonce, n-throughput); // CB: don't report values bigger max_nonce

Hmm. I edited the lines and replace min (x,y) with if and it appears to compile without problems, and running so far.

I am running with -D flag, though I stil do not know the percentage of accepted shares.

Pff.2 very crazy days and nights. I came here after christians post on the nvidia cuda forum. I went through 100 pages until finally managed to compile cudaminer and the wallet, just to find that it is too late. Anyway I tried the latest version and I get the same error as in the quote. The previous version I have is from 7th  I think.

This maxcoin is madness, I am doing some solo mining and some in the pools. In both cases I have no ideea if the work is accepted all, or just 10 %. The solo miner reports no errors, just new work. The pool minin at https://max.mining4all.eu gives lot so Yys and ver few Boos, ut I have no ideea if it works or not. So far very small returns 0.3 maxcoinf for 6 hours. The VTC seems more profitable as I seen so far.
