1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SLG] Sterlingcoin v1.7 | United Kingdom | on: May 31, 2024, 08:57:27 PM
I added the conf file and that didn't work either.

I seems the best solution would be to re-sync completely. My blk0001.dat file size is around 1,154 Mb, so much less than yours, and though I still use version 1.5.1.1, it syncs well (though took a while to re-sync for the last few months), and stakes perfectly. I could provide a blockchain snapshot if you would like one.
I'll try resync see if that works. thx  Smiley

That could take awhile, on my experience. The wallet used to sync about 500 blocks, then wait for quite some time, then sync further. Overall syncing for 4-5 months took more than 24 hours due to that. At least the CPU usage was reasonable, so I believe its not the reason of this behavior.
I have two blk files ... is this normal ? It's as if my wallet is on two chains.  Smiley

Well, having 2 blk files in that directory could be completely normal - as soon as the size of the "blk0001.dat" reaches 2Gb, the "blk0002.dat" is created, and as soon its size reaches 2Gb, the wallet creates "blk0003.dat", and so on.

But in this specific case I believe the size of "blk0001.dat" should be less than 2Gb. Here is a snap from my directory with recently synced wallet:

I'm on windows 11
My wallet syncing does show one block chain flash show maybe 2,000 blocks left then it shows another blockchain showing 114,000 blocks to go and syncs on the first one but not the other.  Angry
Yours is showing one blk dat. Mine 2 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe I should delete both?

EDIT: I got it synced and working. I reinstalled it. It must have been a bad install.  Smiley
Thanks for all the help.

Thank you...I will check to see what nodes are default by the wallet because there is no conf. file. . And that is wallet 1.7.1.2  Smiley

You can add a sterlingcoin.conf file to the data directory. You can add connects and addnodes to that file.

These nodes are permanent infrastructure nodes:

45.32.178.232 (London)
108.61.191.233 (New York)
108.61.216.195 (Los Angeles)

These core infrastructure nodes are in global high availability data centers.

A sterlingcoin.conf file could look as such:

Code:
rpcuser=hiddenuser
rpcpassword=hardpassword
server=1
daemon=1
listen=1
addnode=45.32.178.232
addnode=108.61.191.233
addnode=108.61.216.195

I hope this information is found helpful!
Thank you I'll try it. Smiley

Wallet won't sync need more nodes plz.  Smiley

You should have no issue with the DNS seednodes that are hardcoded, but here you go:

        "addr" : "45.32.178.232",
        "addr" : "108.61.216.195",
        "addr" : "54.37.46.84",
        "addr" : "71.213.38.4",
        "addr" : "82.70.129.110",
        "addr" : "208.38.200.241",
        "addr" : "90.196.80.78",
        "addr" : "185.220.100.247",
        "addr" : "191.177.203.233",

If peers are dropping you, you may want to verify your copy of the blockchain against an explorer. If you find you've forked, a recent snapshot is available via the sterlingcoin.org website (Download > Recent Snapshot).

Sorry it is giving you difficulties.

Happy Mother's Day any moms out there!
How do I know if I forked without an explorer now? My wallet syncs to 49,466 blocks to go and seems to be stuck there.
And a lot of mined coins the wallet says generated but not accepted.  Smiley thx

Sorry for the current absence of an explorer. One is planned to re-launch in the near future. Funding constraints.

An easy way to know if you are on the supported blockchain is to enter the faucet. If you receive the faucet payout (sent every 24 hrs), you'll know you are "on-chain." Peer count is another indicator, but not necessarily indicative alone. As the current network stands, if you have a small handful of peers or more (>= 3, I'd say), you most likely are on the supported chain.

If the wallet appears stuck for long, give it a restart or two.

Blocks will say, "generated but not accepted," until your copy of the blockchain reaches that point in the history of the public ledger when it occurred. A recent snapshot was posted to the website for download, if that is helpful to anyone.

Again, sorry for the 'explorer absence.' It will not remain that way for long.

Happy Spring 2023, Sterlingcoiners!
Thx  Smiley
Sorry for the very late response but this is my wallet synced by date but not blocks. Note the date.
I tried the faucet too.  Smiley
Its like there are 2 chains its trying to sync. It flipped back and forth displaying 6,000 and then 104,989 blocks to go.

Hi mate, sorry for the slow reply, also. Wink

Thanks for reporting this. But I've not seen any of the infrastructure nodes on another chain, and certainly not one 100k blocks ahead. I suppose there could be an unmaintained node out there somewhere that has spun up that many blocks in its own fork over a long time. That node would be banned of course, but bans expire. It would try, and fail, to peer again with other nodes. This may have been what you observed.

The network has had issues of slow blocks as of late. A few large bag holders have been moving and reorganizing coins out of wallets that are many years old. This has led to inconsistent nethash, resulting in inconsistent block times. This could have contributed to the glitch you observed also. At any rate, you do want to be sure your node conforms with https://chainz.cryptoid.info/slg/. Thank you for taking the time to maintain your node!

On a different note, and happy to announce, SLG has a new exchange: https://mubadil.com/en/?market=slg_usdt
Thank you...I will check to see what nodes are default by the wallet because there is no conf. file. . And that is wallet 1.7.1.2  Smiley

All three of of the links on on Original Post work.
win 32, win 64, linux source.
2.1 - is the latest....
I considered a 3.0 just for kicks, but will have to hard fork to do it...
Thx but the 64 bit Installer sent me here.

so I downloaded 32 bit Installer. Be better if I had the 64 bit. I'm unable to build from source code.  Smiley
Lets see how long it takes to sync.   Cheesy

Welcome back.  Smiley

Do you have a link to the wallets latest build. I'm using an older version and it won't sync all the way. Lost mine...long story too.
PS I noticed someone had a node running.  Smiley
