Alot of the talk is more answering why Satoshi is still keeping his identity secret. I think that he kept his identity a secret because he could.

For most inventions it is hard to keep your identity a secret. Certainly if you own a public company you can't keep your identity a secret.

Bitcoin is perhaps the most innovative and most impactiful invention where the inventor could be kept a secret. At no other time in history and with no prior business structure could the inventor and originator keep his identity a secret. He was smart enough to know that in this case he could keep his identity a secret. He was smart enough to see so far ahead to know that keeping his identity a secret was a possibility.

So he COULD do it and is likely very SHY so he wanted to do it and certainly also very PRIVATE.

My thought is that Satoshi probably has several identities - I myself use multiple identities and have done so for over 20 years. So he can still show off using one of his other identities any time he wants. Sure we think his main identity has 500,000 bitcoin. But, perhaps he has a dozen more identities. Maybe he poses as someone who has 100 bitcoin or 10 bitcoin. He could live off of bitcoin and no touch his main stash for 30 or 40 years. Would he ever reveal himself? Probably under the right circumstances. But, I have no idea what that would be. He is also probably 10 times smarter than me so who knows what can motivate him. I am just glad that he does exist.

I am ready for a buying opportunity. I am delaying paying my taxes so I can buy more bitcoin if the price falls... if it does not fall then I will just go ahead and pay taxes

It is obvious that there can be many successful currencies. Hell there are many successful legacy curriencies and those have the disadvantage of the possibility of infinite inflation. At least with crypto there can be controls. Many crypto's focus on competing by offerring an innovation. Many are crap. But, those that really innovate can be successful and there is no arbitrary limit to how many can be successful.

I have set up companies in several different countries. However, a bank account in say Belize is not very useful. I had one there that was shut down - at least they wired me the money I had there before shutting down. A bank account in cyprus is not useful - mine there is frozen along with 2000 others who had accounts at FBME and I can't touch one cent of the $ there. A bank account in the Cayman islands is not very useful - not if you want to have a merchant account. A Hong Kong bank account is great - if you are not a US citizen. So for me the only accounts that I can do business with are ones based in the United States.

Even I as a long time lover of Bitcoin constantly underestimate bitcoin. So I think most of us are unaware of it's potential. It is alot to wrap your head around. So yes, we are unaware.

A bitcoin bank is great until it is not. Then once it is no longer great you are shit out of luck. It is like having a business partner who you let control all your cash. It is great as long as they pay you. But, then when they run off with the money there is not much you can do. Possession is 9/10ths of the law.

In my bitcoin quest I have done alot. Bought mining gear with 2 different partners. Kept the gear at office of one partner. Also had gear at place owned by friend of other business partner. We lost money on both mining operations. Luckily we did not sell the bitcoin from one operation, so now those coins have good value. Also lost a bank account probably due to bitcoin transactions. So only have 1 bank account left in the US. I also have attended bitcoin conferences. I rarely do anything bitcoin related from my phone. Mostly use laptops whihc are getting pretty old. While I have tried other businesses in bitcoin right now I am focusing on just buying bitcoin when I have available cash. And spending time reading on bitcoin to figue out what I should try next...

The only problems I have had with coinbase is their requiring me to complete the AML/KYC vetting multiple times. Also they lowered my limits for no reason. I applied to get my prior limits reinstated so that I could buy more or sell more bitcoin at one time and they denied me. So they can be annoying, but, I have more faith in them than in most of the risky options (any exchange is risky).

I think that Bitcoin will fall below $3500 again before it blows past $5000, which should be pretty soon from now. I think the news from China will get blown out of proportion again and that will cause Bitcoin to fall. Then within a month or two after it will be over $5000.

Yahoo was destroyed by Google. Myspace was destroyed by Facebook. While I don't know what a currency that could destroy Bitcoin would look like, there is a possibility that something new could be so innovative that it all but destroys Bitcoin. Even then while Bitcoin could be dethroned, I don't think Bitcoin would be destroyed. Bitcoin has inertia. It is going to keep going. Even if something else gets ten times bigger than Bitcoin, I think Bitcoin will continue to grow.

I don't know if it will go up or down. But, it won't stay where it is for long.

In the future billionaires will invest in bitcoin even if only through funds that hold bitcoin. Even if bitcoin does not reach a mass audience

It is good to see that Bitcoin is not the only game in town that has problems with hackers, etc. So the more legacy companies with the problem makes the issues with Bitcoin (scammers who use bitcoin) not appear as big.

We are no where near mass adoption and Bitcoin is thriving. Think of all the different world currencies. The pound thrives even though it is only used by a small island country. Bitcoin has the advantage of world wide acceptance.

Convincing people to invest in bitcoin will be much better than convincing them to use it. When they see it increase in price they will have enough temptation to use Bitcoin. That is the easy part. The hard part is getting them to invest initially.

Show how a bitcoin transaction is performed.

I would stick to the gifts on the wedding registry. Alot of people don't appreciate gifts that don't conform to the specific tradition of the country.

Having started many businesses and having tried to start an exchange, I can tell you that it is incredibly difficult. There are too many other ways to make money in crypto. Don't try to start an exchange.

Will it appreciate in value is all I care.
