1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5. Come on in the water's fine! on: July 14, 2017, 07:57:41 PM
I'm having wallet issues as well. I get the following error

Critical error loading wallet "reset" from wallet-reset.dat: CDB() : cant open
database file wallet-reset.dat, error 22

I had renamed this wallet file a long time ago when doing some coin cleanup to rest all my stakes into one large chunk. I can't seem to get this to work, and google isnt helping. Any tips how to remedy an error 22? thanks

There is no easy way currently to run salvagewallet  on a secondary wallet .If you have a wallet-reset.dat backup, try using that one instead. If not try these steps below.

1) Shutdown client
2) rename wallet.dat to noloadwallet.dat
3) rename wallet-reset.dat to wallet.dat
4) Startclient with -salvagewallet
5) Be patient, after fixing keys, it will rescan 5million blocks, this can take a fair amount of time. Possibly hours depending on your computer.
6) After complete, shutdown client
7) rename your wallet.dat (previously wallet-reset.dat) back to wallet-reset.dat
Cool rename your noloadwallet.dat to wallet.dat
9) start client up
10) do more frequent wallet backups!

You can alway monitor that progress by looking at the debug.log file.

I will work on adding an extra switch to salvagewallet to work on a secondary wallet For version 1.6.

Edit: If you are good with startups switches you can also also do this to save time.
1) Shutdown client
2) Create new dir called C:\hbn_fix
3) copy wallet-reset.dat to c:\hbn_fix\wallet.dat
4) startup client with -salavgewallet -datadir=c:\hbn_fix
5) After client is done and wallet is working, shut it down.
6) rename your wallet-reset.dat in your normal datadir %appdata% to brokewallet-reset.dat
7) Copy your wallet.dat form c:\hbn_fix to your normal datadir as wallet-reset.dat

This method may save a bit of time.

This is what happens whenever I have tried to -salvagewallet this one

2017-07-14 19:52:55 Renamed wallet.dat to wallet.1500061975.bak
2017-07-14 19:52:55 Error: Salvage found errors, all data may not be recoverable.
2017-07-14 19:52:55 Salvage(aggressive) found no records in wallet.1500061975.bak.

2017-07-14 19:54:03 Failed to rename wallet.dat to wallet.1500062043.bak

and the client exits. I gave up before when this happened because I couldnt figure it out. Is it doing this because the wallet was encrypted?

also, db.log gives me a bunch of errors. heres the last one

wallet.1488662875.bak: DB_VERIFY_BAD: Database verification failed
file unknown has LSN 359/6987529, past end of log at 71/4537095

Less than 100$ total in sells will remove all buy support for TEKcoin on Cryptopia.

cryptsy going down really did a number on this coin...yobit wallet issues havent helped either

I submitted a support ticket about the tek wallet on cryptsy. They said they are having "network issues" and are waiting on a response from the developer...whatever that means

I submitted a support ticket about ten days ago, and it took them 3 days to get back to me.  They told me that they were diligently working on fixing the wallet sync issues, and it should be fixed soon.  Obviously soon means something different to them then it does to me.  I opened another ticket about 3 days ago with an actual transaction ID this time and still haven't heard back....

Even if they fixed it and trading resumed, we probably couldnt get any BTC out. I've had a small amount pending from an HBN sale for two days.

Prices have dropped fast on these...down to $100 a unit. Not nearly the $14.40 price they should be sold at to compete with the Titan but getting there.

Very true, which is why I'm not buying any more mining equipment. When the big script asics come online, even gridseed blades won't be doing you much good. With the difficulty increases you'll be lucky to make decent profit after ROI, if you even get there.

Yea, I kinda regret ordering when they were ~$260/each but all in all it's been fun and has kept me busy. ROI will be very tight if ever on them. I know I didn't make up the difference in the extra month or so I had them before they came down to the $95 range.

I wont be getting the G-Blade units....might get some more Infinity USB's (what gridseed calls their 5 chip miners now) if the price gets to about $60/each just to fill out my custom case Smiley    ....and maybe cost average down the ROI a bit....but I'm guessing that unless we get really lucky or do some creative altcoin mining it will be tough.

If you don't convert to USD and the price jumps you can make ROI and them some. But if you're into mining to make dollars you're doing it wrong anyway. Why would you want to trade a deflationary asset for an inflationary one...

Must resist ordering...next week they may be at $80  Wink

For kicks I ran it through the profitability calculator. Not looking good:

I've seen the blade gridseeds popping up. Are you going to be offering these as well? I thought I saw them on your website but can't find them now.

So if I'm right, 10$ a day, you will break even in around 3/4 months depending the price you paid them ?

correct me if I'm wrong

You're close Wink

4.74 months to be more exacter  Roll Eyes

Wolfey2014

you have to factor difficulty increases into your calculation too. you wont be making the same amount in 2 months as you are today

$1.00 per Kilo Hash to get 800KH/s performance

 Grin

Again with your random shit masked as facts.

By your logic people should have been buying R9 280X for $750 and R9 290 for $900, it was nowhere near that price point even at the height of the boom.

More realistically you would have paid $0.5 or less per KH/s, including all supporting infrastructure - motherboards, risers etc.

If someone was stupid enough to pay $1.0 per KH/s of GPUs then the same kind of people would be buying Gridseeds on eBay for $350.

I love Gridseeds for their relative simplicity, price however is not their strength. Especially with the recent drop in GPU prices.

Just to throw it out there... that $1 per KH/s must also include your supporting infrastructure as you mentioned... mobo, RAM, CPU/HSF, HDD/SSD/USB depending on how you are running them, PCIe extensions, the 1200-1600W PSU you need to run 4+ cards if you are doing so and all the extra connectors you need to run cards that require more than a single 6 pin PCIe power connection.

A single 800+ KH/s GPU running $500 - $750 still needs $100+ just for a basic mobo/CPU/RAM/BOOTDISK/PSU and that's cheaping out... you can easily reach +$200 for a base PC to run the GPU... and more if you want to run a multi GPU rig.

Tell me where I can get an 800 KH/s rig for $400 ($.5 per KH/s) and I will delete this post.

Hell the highest noted GPU on the scrypt litecoin comparison wiki is the Sapphire Tri-X 290X at 1002 KH/s and that's on Newegg for $750 right now and is noted running at 385W. A new setup could easily run $1000 to get that 1 MH/s running stable, whereas $1000 will buy you 3 gridseeds, a Pi, PSU, barrel jack connectors, a powered USB hub and some sort of case to put it all in, gives you a MINIMUM 1150 KH/s AND only runs a total of ~30-35W max in scrypt mode including hub and Pi. Compare the GPU rig running ~500W total to a 35W 3X gridseed/Pi and still get 15% more hashrate for 1/14th of the power cost... and probably still have funds left over. For $.10 per kWh that is ~$400 a year less in cost of power. So while you may be able to resell that GPU for $400+ next year... that only brings you to break even with the gridseed setup... before the extra 15% hashrate is included.

Don't get me wrong, I love the gridseeds, but gpu's have quite a bit more versatility than asic for scrypt. When scrypt asics become more popular, asic resistant coins will start popping up (execoin, vertcoin) so people with gpu's can still play. And if crypto coins go away at least you can resell gpu's.

That being said I'm getting rid of my gpu's because I don't want to spend thousands upgrading my electrical service and installing improved cooling just to have a decent sized farm.

Hey zoom, I got a shipping confirmation for order 1750 but there was no tracking number. Will I get one?

Since it comes from China for some reason I didn't get a tracking number in my email either. Zoom sent me one via PM but their system will also give you one once it arrives in the US.

And for the record, my second order showed up a couple days ago with the proper USB cables. After soldering up some power connectors and splicing it all into a terminal strip they're running smoothly on my raspberry Pi using scripta. I am definitely going to be picking more of these up in the near future and they will all be from Zoomhash, great experience so far.

Does anyone know if a single unit from Zoomhash includes the barrel power connector???  I want 20, but plan on using a RPI, so I dont see the point in spending the extra $$ on the controllers.

My single from zoomhash only had the mini usb, no barrel connector

Everything has been going great. Clocked the units to 900 and now my pool is showing a lot different speed than cgminer.

Pool is only showing 5.2 MH/s. I guess just put them back to 850?

man you got a crap ton of hardware errors.... I have like 2 or 3 errors in the past 3 days on my RPi running 20 units

Danny

what usb hubs are you using?

I am using those 60 dollar anker hubs... Might be the reason

Could you link or PM me the exact model number?

I had to start over from scracth after a week of successful hashing, and I ran into a problem I don't remember encountering.

When I get to miaviator's instruction to run the command ./autogen.sh in the cgminer directory, I get this error:

Code:
bash: ./autogen.sh: No such file or directory

As I said, I don't remember encountering that before. I'm a Mac guy installing Linux (Ubuntu 13.0.4) in Parallels, so speak slowly. Smiley

"chmod +x autogen.sh" should fix it I think

whats the deal with the low WU? I've just noticed that on mine and it seems that everywhere I look people's WU is nowhere close to their hash rate. All of my gpu miners have been around 95% WU to khash.

Is this an asic thing?

Here's my cgminer running 10 Gridseeds:  http://imgur.com/Lw7jEIK

Truth be told I never learned exactly what WU meant...so if you're inclined to explain I'd appreciate it. Smiley

from my google searches before I posted this:

"cgminer WU is the Work Utility defined as the number of diff1 shares work / minute"

so pretty much what that means to me is it's the work submitted to the pool, the higher the better. The low WU numbers would seem like it's not submitting much completed work back to the pool unless I'm missing something...
