You could get a ton of Amateur Radio operators around the world interested in Bitcoin if you were to put an APRS beacon on the balloon. You will need to get an amateur radio license to legally transmit the beacon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_Packet_Reporting_Systemhttp://www.aprs.fiI'm curious what you will be using to transmit the live video data from the balloon? A cellular data connection will not work after ~5000 feet for a variety of reasons. I'm pretty sure your only two options would be to use a satellite data connection (which would be very expensive for live video), or broadcasting the video with an Amateur Radio ATV transmitting setup (again, which you would need a ham radio license for). If you have any questions, shoot me a PM. source - I'm an amateur radio operator 73!

Rather than begin a new topic, I'll bump this one.
I've been wondering this question very much lately.
I'm aware of Particle, Metiscoin, Memorycoin, other Quark variants.
Anyone have an opinion on the current most profitable CPU based coin (to subsidize GPU mining)?
Thanks!

multipool does not have an option to auto-convert to BTC. To set up automatic payouts to your wallet addresses, go here: https://www.multipool.us/accountdetails.phpI know I've seen some people mention that they set up multipool to auto send the coins they mine to a cryptsy auto-exchange address. However, this might not be advisable because coins could get lost. I prefer to send the coins to the wallet on my desktop, then send them to an exchange. EDIT - You can see your unconfirmed/confirmed coin balances in the top left corner of the page. Also, I believe the profitability is measured against BTC (since they provide */BTC calculations on your balance page).

I think I may have found the source of the problem that's causing a lot of people to have connection issues. I was unable to get my wallet to connect and sync with the network. I opened up TCPview and noticed that the wallet client was trying to open new connections by sending SYNs to nodes, but it wasn't hearing anything back.
The wallet client is set to listen on port 41338. I added a port forward rule in my router to forward port 41338 to my computer and wallah, immediately got 55 connections to the network and synced up. I'm not quite sure why outgoing connections aren't working when behind a router NAT/firewall.
So, for those of you having connection issues, try port forwarding 41338 to the host running the wallet client.

or just delete your peers file and your good to go Believe me, I tried that many times.

Wow. I can't believe I haven't tried to make a post here on bitcointalk yet. I guess it shows just how much I have been lurking in the background since I created my account in June of 2011. Like everyone else, I wish I had invested in Bitcoin when I started reading about it here in the summer of 2011. At one point I had mined over 3BTC but donated it away when it was worth around $1/BTC to help support a torrent site. Silly me. Oh well. It wasn't until early fall of 2013 when a friend of mine told me Bitcoin was up to $100 did I start looking at it seriously. However, I felt it was too risky and still didn't buy in. Here we are now in 2014 and I still have yet to "buy" any Bitcoin. My current BTC holdings are somewhere between 0.5 and 1 BTC (been mining altcoins for about a month now with 2 R9 290s). I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Bitcoin. I'm definitely on this train for the long haul ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) ouch you had a chance at $1/btc found out it increased to$100/btc and still dint get any... what made you originally join? That's right. I didn't read enough about bitcoin investment when it was around $100. I thought it was too risky (i.e. I thought the growth was too quick). Had I read around I probably would have found that all the signs were pointing to an explosion. I honestly don't remember why I joined the site. Probably because I have a habit of creating accounts on sites that I stumble across. At this point, I'm probably just going to play the market a little bit and see what happens. I think there are going to be plenty of opportunities this month to sell high and buy low. We shall see.

We need more people with your experience here, good to see you posting.
haha. I don't know if you're referring to my 'experience' as to my knowledge of cryptocurrencies or just the amount of time I've known about it, but, thank you! I'm definitely not an expert, that's for sure.
