You could get a ton of Amateur Radio operators around the world interested in Bitcoin if you were to put an APRS beacon on the balloon. You will need to get an amateur radio license to legally transmit the beacon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_Packet_Reporting_System
http://www.aprs.fi

I'm curious what you will be using to transmit the live video data from the balloon? A cellular data connection will not work after ~5000 feet for a variety of reasons. I'm pretty sure your only two options would be to use a satellite data connection (which would be very expensive for live video), or broadcasting the video with an Amateur Radio ATV transmitting setup (again, which you would need a ham radio license for).

If you have any questions, shoot me a PM.

So the rocket in the main post is actually a weather balloon?
You should post a more detailed explanation , with some technical details in one posts , so people know what to expect.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but, weather balloons can only go to the 'edge of space' as its sometimes called. As far as I know, they are not capable of putting anything in orbit, so any flag attached to a weather balloon would reach the edge of space and then just fall back down to earth again. To put a bitcoin flag into orbit would require an actual rocket of sorts.

Satellite video data connection is the only one that seems the most viable but we are still testing some cellular data connections. Don’t be surprised to see several live video channels live one launch day. We are leaning on having several live video sources and if one fails at certain altitude then we can switch to alternative channels

Yes , It is technically space were we are headed on this mission. We plan on buying our own satellites for the next mission and piggy backing off another company that is launching their satilght. It is cheaper to launch several satellites at once. Our Next mission will be titled “Bitcoin first independent satellite in space”. Its function will be to broadcast the block chain without any internet connection 100% self-reliant bitcoin network
