I hear you on the potential added technical complexity but what I have in mind is a 3 of 5 (or 3 of 6) where I would not need to keep the seeds. So if technically it can work, I think it would remove a layer of management complexity. Thoughts ? such complicated setups are way overkill. while you won't get hacked you may face issues because of bugs in the software. but hey if you are willing to put up with such things then go for it. be sure to report the bugs and hopefully that will make electrum more robust!

Thanks, I was hoping I could manage most of the signature process from Electrum on my laptop (for the HWW signatures) and one of the signature (not HWW) would have been done with a key managed by my iPhone (stored on the phone, on the cloud or even better on my Node), kind of similar to how the Casa multisig process works. Probably not possible I guess. I think FullyNoded will be close to that but I assume all signatures (HWW and mobile) will have to be done via FullyNoded which wasn't my preferred option. I don't think you can use electrum on an iPhone and you can't plug a hardware wallet into it and have electrum recognise it (at least you can't with the android version)..
You can sign whatever you want with the phone though, I had a multisig between my laptop and phone going for a while (just scanning the code on my laptop and clicking to sign it on the phone - is that what you're attempting to do)?

Hi,
Now that Electrum 4 allows multisig between a combination of hardware wallets (e.g.: ColdCard, Trezor, Ledger), I was wondering if, let's say in a 3 of 5 setup, it is also possible to have 4 signatures with hardware wallets and one of the 5 signatures done via mobile phone (e.g.: with FullyNoded on iPhone?), thoughts ? Thanks

Thanks all, found the issue and posting it here in case someone else have the same problem. I just needed to remove that portion "-p socks5:localhost:9050" So the correct command line is simply: "./electrum-4.0.0b1-x86_64.AppImage -1 -s mynodeaddress.onion:50001:t"

Hi,
What is the command to launch an Linux Appimage of Electrum 4 to connect directly to my our node (on Tor) ? Here's what I've tried which used to work but not anymore (i.e.: the network connection remains "red" and doesnt turn "blue): "./electrum-4.0.0b0-x86_64.AppImage -1 -s mynodeaddress.onion:50001:t -p socks5:localhost:9050"
Thanks

Thanks. Sorry, I don't mean the blue circle network status, I really meant something that looks like a small blue computer icon on the left of the UTXO, instead of the 3 gray gears. I wish I'd be able to paste the picture here but sounds like I can't since I'm still at the "newbie" level...

Thanks all. It is the same transaction but showing differently depending on which node I use. For a few hours both had the 3 gears icon and then when connecting with one node was showing 3 gears and when connecting with my other node was showing a blue computer icon.
Not sure why but it did indeed seems to be a "broadcasting" difference as I double click on the transaction and the broadcast button was available when connected on the node showing the blue computer icon and wasn't available when connected on the node showing 3 gears. I pressed broadcast and the icon changed to the 3 gears. How can a receiving transaction show as not broadcasted ?

Hi,
When in Electrum, depending on which one of my nodes I use (both with Electrum Personal Servers) to access my Hardware Wallet, I see different icons in the history tab for the same unconfirmed UTXO: either 3 grey gears or a something that looks like a small blue computer. Any thoughts on what the difference of meaning is ? Could it be that one of them (blue computer) is confirmed in the mempool next to be processed or something like that ?
Thanks

Thanks, I use Electrum Rust Server on Nodl so it is probably a private server and these settings aren't probably available.

Out of curiosity, how can someone add a donation address for their Electrum Server ?

Thanks HCP. Yes you are right, it was the libsecp256k1-0.dll that was creating some issues for me. I appreciate your offer and please no offence but with the past scam around Electrum, I was hoping a version (with all the components incl. DLL) could be downloaded from the official source. I guess I'll have to wait for the official release 4 which hopefully will be available in the coming months.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I was not referring to some minor bugs but rather important features around multi-signature that are missing in 3.8 that Thomas Voegtlin has confirmed will be incorporated in the next release. It is actually already available in the source code on GitHub but the Windows build can't be created from source at this point because of other missing dependencies.

I understand that the Electrum team is working hard on release 4 that will include lightning functionality. Totally get that this is a complex and take time but would be great if in the meantime an interim version (3.9) would be officially released without Lightning but with the other functionalities (e.g.: improved multisig) and fixes. I've tried to build from source on Windows but it doesn't really work.
So my question to the Electrum team, is this something you could consider doing, particularly if v4 is still months away ? Thanks

Electrum on Telegram is a scam. The admin ask you for your seed. I posted a message to warn the members and got blocked Signal is great. At the beginning friends/colleagues didn't understand why not WhatsApp, now many have made the shift and get it. #deleteWhatsApp #deleteFacebook #deleteGoogle

I see you got a response and closed the issue... but I can't see to make it work with the instructions given. I've posted on the github issue, but not sure if "closed" issues get notifications or not: I added in the .dll as specified and it still doesn't work, so I hacked some debug into the ecc_fast.py file (where it attempts to load the .dll) and I get this: E:\electrum-master>C:\Users\HCP\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python38\python.exe run_electrum C:\Users\HCP\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python38\lib\site-packages\aiohttp\helpers.py:107: DeprecationWarning: "@coroutine" decorator is deprecated since Python 3.8, use "async def" instead def noop(*args, **kwargs): # type: ignore E | ecc_fast | LibPath: E:\electrum-master\electrum\libsecp256k1-0.dll WARNING: [WinError 193] %1 is not a valid Win32 application E | ecc_fast | LibPath: libsecp256k1-0.dll WARNING: [WinError 193] %1 is not a valid Win32 application E | ecc_fast | libsecp256k1 library failed to load Error: Failed to load libsecp256k1.
E:\electrum-master>
So, I'm not sure the .dll is being created properly... EDIT: Turns out I didn't have the correct compiler installed on the Ubuntu VM (that build-wine docker container that you use for generating the Windows installers has a lot of extra stuff I guess!) sudo apt-get install gcc-mingw-w64
Is required for the "GNU C compiler for MinGW-w64"... which is what is required to generate the 64bit Windows DLL. Once I had that installed, I used the: GCC_TRIPLET_HOST="x86_64-w64-mingw32" ./contrib/make_libsecp256k1.sh
and it generated the correct .dll I copied that over to the Windows box, putting it in my "inner electrum" directory... and then Electrum starts up from the Python sources just fine! Thanks. Could you share the .dll or I guess this is probably not recommended as required trust that it is not malicious?

I'm currently checking for a few possible solutions before deciding to post it as an issue like trying it to other python versions, etc. since there're a few major changes in python 3.8.
Also for more initial info.
Ok thanks. If you could please keep us updated here if/when you find a solution, that'd be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for these steps, they are VERY helpful !
I get an error message "Error: Failed to load libsecp256k1" when I "python electrum-master/run_electrum". I searched for a solution but the ones on GitHub are all Linux specific and I can't find a (reliable) one for Windows. Thoughts ?
I also got that from installing the current build, there must be something added to the code that caused that issue. The last dev version that worked for me was the one I've downloaded last February 10. The error still persists even after successfully installing libsecp256k1 through: python -m pip install libsecp256k1 Should an issue be created on GitHub then ?

Weird It should be work on Windows 10 both HCP and nc50lc also use Windows 10 but they never got this error.
I didn't compiled the binaries, I directly installed and ran " run_electrum" through Python v3.8 with the pre-requisites.
You can follow the guide in Github with some modifications. 1. Download Python 3.8 installer for Windows: https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-380/. 2. Download Electrum from Github as ZIP, extract it ( electrum-master) and paste inside python38 folder ( for easy access). 3. Open a command prompt inside python38 folder ( where python.exe was installed) using " Shift->Right Click->Open command window here". 4. In the console, enter these ( requires internet): python -m pip install --upgrade pip To upgrade pip module to the latest version. python -m pip install pyqt5 python -m pip install setuptools Probably pre-installed python -m pip install electrum-master/ Needs to be the same folder name as your extracted electrum-master.zip and including the slash "/" at the end. 5. To launch electrum, enter: python electrum-master/run_electrum And wait for a few minutes for the first launch, a few seconds if it was launched before.
You can create a .bat file with #5 to easily launch Electrum using double-click. Create a new text file in python folder, paste the code from step 5, save; then rename the extension ".txt" into ".bat". Create a shortcut of the bat file and name it " Electrum 4.0.0a0". Many thanks for these steps, they are VERY helpful ! I get an error message " Error: Failed to load libsecp256k1" when I "python electrum-master/run_electrum". I searched for a solution but the ones on GitHub are all Linux specific and I can't find a (reliable) one for Windows. Thoughts ?
