All,

I'm going to be taking down the web server for a bit to perform some maintenance.  The stratum and database servers are still up and running, so your mining will not be impacted - you just won't be able to see anything on the website until it's back up.  I'll reply back here once the maintenance has been completed.

EDIT: Maintenance took a bit longer than I thought it would, but everything's back up and running Smiley

Wrong forum.  You aren't a bitcoin mining pool, so this needs to be in the alt coin section.  Good luck with your new pool.

So, while I got the drive installed, getting everything copied and configured has proven to take a bit more time than I thought.  I brought the server back up last night, so it was only down about 30 minutes.  Today, it'll be up and down a few times - hopefully I'll get things sorted here shortly.

Thanks for your understanding and patience while I get the new drive up and running Smiley

EDIT: And we're back.  Again, sorry for the inconvenience while I upgraded the server.

All,

I have taken down the stratum servers to upgrade the drives.  I only had 200G drives in them, and just put in 1TB drives.  Only had about 3% available space left.

The server will be down for a bit while I get things moved around.  I will update here when we are back up and running.

In case anyone noticed, the pool was down for a bit this morning.  I was going to update to 0.16 core, but realized that in order to do so, I need to do a bunch of work on the pool software (0.16.0 got rid of the "getinfo" API call).  Until I rewrite the code to use different API calls, I reverted back to 0.15.1.

I'll keep everyone updated on the progress.  In the meantime, the pool is back up and running Smiley.

Besides the rise in price is also the corresponding rise in difficulty.  When I started this pool in 2015 you had a pretty decent shot of hitting a block or even two by renting 1PH.  The very first block I found was with a rental like that.  Now, a 1PH rental has a very slim chance of finding a block.  Of course, the difficulty when I started was 65,848,255,179.  A bit different than what it is now Smiley

Can you check the 3334 proxy?  NiceHash reporting failure to connect with pool test.
I couldn't find any issues, and I saw you had quite a bit of hash pointed to the pool yesterday.

LOL... now THAT would have been a good way to wake up this morning Smiley

Pool is reporting dead ?!?
HI jonnybravo0311

What happens to the pool?  are you doing an update?  I do not see workers inside (
Sorry about that folks.  Pool didn't restart automatically and I slept through the alarms.  It's all back up and running properly again.  Total downtime was just under 3 hours.

hint: go to page 1 of this topic

Hi, was this directed to my post, or another one?  It's difficult to tell.  However, the info on page one of this post is over 2 years old and very out of date.  Some of it conflicts with what is currently on the website.
I try to keep the first page and the site up to date.  If there are discrepancies, please let me know so I can address them.

Have not read through all 92 pages, but I did do a search and couldn't find anything on the payout fee in this thread or on Google.  One page on the website, about on-demand payout, says there's an 0.001 BTC fee for the payout.  But then the auto-payout field also seems to say there's an 0.001 BTC payout fee for each one.  The little ? icon doesn't do anything, so there doesn't seem to be any more clarification on this.  Slushpool doesn't have any payout fee, though of course they have a 2% take on the mining.  But 0.5% mining fee plus 0.001 equates to more than 2% if the autopayout is set to 0.05 (~$500).  I don't mind waiting for payouts to reduce the total fees to the pool, but at the same time, I don't want to have to wait a month.  I've currently pointed an S9 at your pool, just to try it out and compare to Slushpool.  Can you provide any more info on the payout fee scheme?

Thanks

This is a good question  we have not hit a block in a long time  I am not sure how jonny will handle payout fees. When we finally hit a block

It is a good question, and one that I missed.  The reason I had to change the amount charged per withdrawal was due to the network.  Initially I was charging 0.0001BTC per withdrawal; however, after a couple withdrawal transactions happened, I realized that the fee wasn't even coming close to covering the actual transaction cost.  Therefore, I changed it to 0.001BTC.  Even there it is barely covering costs (most recent withdrawal had a 0.00098BTC transaction fee).  I will adjust the fee based on what the network demands.

Since I send to multiple addresses in a single transaction for auto-payouts, I can turn that value down so that each miner isn't paying the 0.001BTC.  The way it is now punishes miners who are part of a multi-payout transaction.  I appreciate you pointing out the discrepancy and will adjust the auto-payout fees.

Edit: I changed the auto-payout fees to 0.0002BTC.  I will keep my eye on the network and fees in general and will update the pool accordingly.

Now we need to find a block Smiley

Cool.  Let me know if you run into any issues.  The diff on 3334 now starts at 2097151 and varies from 1048575 to 16777215.  I'm updating the first post in the thread to reflect those changes as well.

Smiley over 25TH w/nicehash working fine now

LOL... you have like 40x 25TH working right now Smiley

Thanks for the update, Phil.  I didn't know NH changed their min diff requirements again.  I have made the necessary changes as you can see in the screenshot:

Hey everyone...

In case you happened to check recently, you'll notice the website is not responding.  This is an issue with the front end server only - the stratum servers are still working and your shares are still being recorded in the database just fine.

I'm investigating the issue with the web server and will provide an update here when I know more.

Edit: and we're back.  Issue at the datacenter that has since been resolved.

You read correctly - it's a 5N window.  That means that you get paid for all shares that are within a window of 5 times the network difficulty.

My own Avalons have found a couple blocks - so maybe yours will be lucky as well Smiley
17  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150TH] [PPLNS 0.5%] Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) on: January 12, 2018, 06:03:41 PM
Good luck root$!  Find that block and the 1BTC bonus is yours Smiley

Starscat, the statistics you want are available on the pool's statistics page.  There you can clearly see how long the round is, when the last block found was, how far into the current round we are, and the expected length of the round.

I have a doubt regarding this pool (I'm pretty new at this). Only payments are received when the block is completely mined? I mean, in Slushpool whenever I get to 0.01btc they send me the payment automatically, here it works the same or how? And sorry for the novice that I am haha.
Hi starscat,

Don't be afraid to ask questions.  Without asking, one can never learn Smiley

All pools (excluding true PPS) require miners to find blocks before payments can be made.  Even slush's pool.  The reason you get paid on slush when you reach 0.01BTC is because the pool has found blocks to provide the funds with which you are paid.

Let's give an example that might help clear things up.  In our example, the pool finds a block a day, and your mining gear gets you about 0.001 coins per day.  Let's also assume that the pool's minimum payout is 0.01BTC.  Every day the pool finds a block, and 0.001BTC is marked for you.  10 days later, you've now got 0.01BTC set aside for you.  Since that matches the minimum payout value, the pool creates a transaction and sends that coin to you.

Now, let's take a look at that same example, except this time, the pool only finds a block every 10 days.  On day one, no block found, so there is no coin to mark as yours.  Day 2, same thing.  Repeat until day 10 when the pool finds a block.  In those 10 days, you've been constantly mining.  When that block is found, the pool sees that you've contributed shares equal to 0.001BTC a day, so 0.01BTC is set aside for you.  Oh look, that matches the 0.01BTC payout threshold, so the transaction is created and you receive your coin.

At the end of the 10 days, the exact same amount of coin has been sent to you.

Let's change it once again such that your mining gear would expect to earn you 0.01BTC a day.  In the first scenario, you would receive a payout of 0.01BTC every day for 10 days, resulting in a total of 0.1BTC.  In the second scenario, you would receive a single payout on day 10 of 0.1BTC.  Yup, exactly the same.

Please note, I simplified this and didn't include any network difficulty fluctuations in my examples.

Hope this helps!

Jonny

Looking for that perfect last minute gift?  I've got just the thing!  Point your miners to bravo-mining.com and if you find a block before the end of the day tomorrow, you'll get 1.225BTC.  Now that's a nice stocking stuffer!

Hi Jonny,

What's the current (post new year) bonus?

Thanks and happy new year!

Right now, it's back to the 1BTC finder's bonus.  If that changes, I'll post here Smiley

I use btc merged mining with namecoin on antpool. Havent received any namecoin payment until now. Am it the only one with this problem?
You realise you are giving away your share of tx fees by mining at Antpool?

Stupid idea.

I have only one s9 right now and im waiting for another batch of 3 in january. After reading all the stories here i will probably switch to kano. Thanks for the heads up
Why wait?  Stop giving away 30% or more of your mining income.  Doesn't matter if you've got 1 S9 or 100 of them.  Point them to a pool that actually pays you what you deserve.  Support the small pools and help them grow.  Help spread the hash. Smiley
