1  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Farm Cooling on: September 04, 2011, 06:02:12 PM
I am starting to reach the limit of what I can cool with my mining farm and am wondering the best approach to take to sustain further expansion. I am currently 14 "rigs" most with 5 GPUs per box. I will be expanding further next week and was hoping to put off this until after the winter, but that is looking less and less likely.

I am in a 800sqft space with 20ft ceilings and a 3 ton HVAC unit that now seems to run 24/7.

So the big question is: What do you do to cool your 10Gh+ mining farm? Do you have pictures and or best practices?

Run an intake and exhaust inline fan, this would involve cutting a 2X6inch holes in the walls leading outside. This will significantly lower your electricity bill and decrease the amount of a/c you would be required to use. PM for more details

Check the windows error log

control panel > admin tools > event viewer > windows log

check the system and application log around the time it shut off. You will see red X for any problems.

I had a similar issue, turn out to be my external wireless adapter was crashing. update driver and it had been running for 3 weeks now.

Hi guys, i am really stuck. My mining rig keeps freezing every 2-3 days and require a hard reboot.  I tried all the versions of the driver etc.. to no luck. Temperature is consistent at <80.  How do i go about find out exactly what is the cause? Is there a log or something I can check after rebooting?  Below are the spec thanks!!

-Cooler Master Silent Pro 1000W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified PS
-2x Radeon 5970
-Win 7 ultimate 64bit
-GUIMiner

EDIT: Both cards are running at stock speed, NOT overclocked at all.

Yes there is a windows error log in the administrator tools. That may give u some hints to whats going on. Also try using msconfig to turn off all unrelated programs, maybe something is doing an auto update or virus scan is doing a scan ect, this may cause your system to hang. Also could try another miner program
4  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 2x6990 Possible with 1000w PSU? on: August 12, 2011, 02:04:20 AM
So im running 2X6990 on a 1200w psu

I saw a bitcoin miner review on the web that claims the 6990 can draw up to 600w's on full load?

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/07/13/bitcoin_mining_gpu_performance_comparison/4

Anyone have any comment on that?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - We now support deposits and withdrawals of funds via Paxum. on: July 28, 2011, 08:48:30 PM
Paxum is a great service, I use them for about 9 month on some occasions (when it's easier for a client to pay through them for example)
They are very responsive and have representatives on other boards, so if it gets traction here i'm sure they will be happy to handle questions on this board as well.

Only downside for me personally, is that they are based in Canada and EFTs/ACHs travel realistically speaking 5-7 business days from US, wires a bit less.  Loading and unloading funds have their own fees depending on a method used.

Payments inside the system are instant and relatively cheap. Different withdraw methods and they have their own debit atm card for those wanting it, merchant API available.

Thumbs up TH!
Good news for Canadians! I look forward to using Tradehill as an alternative to Cavirtex! Smiley

6  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I'm earning about half the BTC I should get at BTCGuild. What's going wrong? on: July 25, 2011, 09:56:04 PM
I'm unly running a very small rig (6950 = 250 Mhashes/s).

On BTCGuild I got around 0.088 BTC per day.
According to mining-calculators I should get at least 0.14 BTC at the current difficulty. Any ideas what's going wrong?

That step is pretty important because at a price of 22 euro-cent per kw/h mining is already not profitable anymore at 0.088 BTC / day.

Could be Variability. Some days you make less some more then calculator. Also Monitor your miner, make sure he is running 100% all day long. Deepbit and miningmonitor both have stats for this
7  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How can I get my mining rig to boot with underclocked memory? on: July 23, 2011, 02:05:14 AM
MSI afterburner likes to default to a 1200mhz memory clock after a reboot leaving me with blazing hot cards after a power failure. What can I do to fix this?

At the bottom, has a check mark to save settings and apply them on restart. Cant mis it right at the bottom of afterburn

9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any Interest in a 1.1 GHash Miner for $1100? on: July 22, 2011, 05:12:56 PM

I have earned quite a few BTC using this rig but its not as profitable as I'd hoped for, and yes I was a noob thinking old money factors would last longer than 10 days.  Looking for $1100 via paypal.

hmmm Not really considering what your cost of electricity is but "Not as profitable as u'd hope"? Have you ever invested $1100 in a bank? Bitcoin mining is great return on investment. Even on a high interest savings account at 2.1% would take you 4-5 years to reach the same amount you make in a month of mining minus electricity.

12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can't run guiminer and GPU-z or CCC at the same time on: July 05, 2011, 11:54:49 PM
Yes im running into same problem and have yet to solve it completely.

The only way i can get it to work is to uninstall any CCC apps.

Delete and reinstall video card drivers.

Install OpenCL driver only from amd site.

optional install of gpu-z

Basically when these items are running side by side the system freezes up. I belive CCC is in startup/running in background and always freezes when miner starts.

Im going to keep testing and post when i figure it out
