Hey Mike I wasn't aware of the upgrade very cool.  I've been doing really Well with my hashlets.  Have 10 Mhz of my own so far, and 283 Zen Solo's that I co funded with my extended family as a Family Farm.  Reinvesting all into new equipment.  Very exciting. Hope your move goes well Mike.

You weren't kidding when you said you were creating a mini farm.

Good luck with your move Micrux, moving locally?

Woah.. That's a nice little Farm you got going there... and here I thought I was doing good with 167 Primes, 8 Solos, and a 90 GH in Genesis...

And semi locally,  about 1.5 hours away... Still working in the corporate cesspool..   At least for a while until things hit the moon Wink

Hypothetically, any idea what would happen if the maintenance cost was higher than the return?
[/quote]

Well they take it out of the mining profits so I would assume they would just keep the mining proceeds till it started getting to be more than the maintenance fees.  However their stated mission it to keep mining profitable for everyone so I have a feeling they would drop maintenance fees if it were to get to that point.  GawMiners and Zenminer seem to be a honest company, everything I've heard about them is they do right by their customers.
[/quote]

Sorry been away a while as I got packed... I'm moving!

Actually if the price of maintenance overcame returns, they upgrade the unit to next highest payout setup....
Thats for the Solo mining Hashlets...

For the Prime Hashlets, they are launching some new features tonight apparently, and revealing the bulk of their long term project on Oct. 24th I believe...

And yes, Josh & Company (Gaw/Zen) have repeatedly done right by their customers, even when it wasn't in their own best interests.

Medium of exchange is usage as a payment option.  Without disclosing specific details and time schedule, I can tell you that payment processing for merchant accounts has been keeping our development team very busy.

Knowing the background of one of your development team... (( As in I think I still have a copy of his resume on my hard drive, and I've worked shoulder to shoulder with him several years back ))  This statement has me dancing in my chair..   I have an idea of what it could be... Needless to say, I am excited.

So I ordered my GAW miner on Monday.  I decided on the Fury scrypt miner.  Advertised +1.3 Mh/s on 35 ways of power.  I requested 2 day shipping, and I received the unit today.  It took me 30 minutes to set up, most of which was just finding a driver for it.  Loaded cgminer and aimed it a Charity pool.  After about 10 minutes it was mining at the advertised rate.  I am actually getting 1.7 Mh/s as of now.  I am super happy with my purchase and would highly recommend to anyone looking to start mining save the wear and tear on your computer and get this miner for less than $50.

Great to hear it. I hop on there every once and a while now that I got the new War Machine running.

Continuation of the story from previous posts.
They honored the RMA, and sent me out the replacement overnight when I called looking for an update. On top of that, they have set me up with a hosted unit free of charge for the amount of time I lost mining from when the unit failed up until delivery of replacement.

Honestly, GAW is one of the few companies in the business that look to do the right thing for the customers...  It's a rare quality in this business.

Thank you for your post.  The fact that you've had problems but will continue to do business with them is waht finally sold me on it, I am going to pick up a couple Gridseed 5 chippers later this week and I will use your link when I do.  Thanks again.

Thank you.. and a word of caution..  If you have the option on your purchase, choose for delivery..  NOT hosted...  Their hosted miners are limited to mining certain pools and do not give you the coins directly, they covert them to BTC....  You can have hosted miners shipped to you after 30 days.. But that just delays delivery of product..

Has anyone had any experience with gawminer?  Would you recommend them?  Or does anyone have a asic vender they have dealt with and would recommend?

I use Gaw Miners... While my post count here is low, I have a feeling User: DNotes on here can vouch for me in regards to me only speaking the truth in  regards to my experiences...  Not that they know what I've gone through with them, but we've had business dealings in the past, and they've come to know to expect that from me.  At least I hope that's what they've come to expect from me...

Anyway..  (Skip to the bottom for the TLDR version... I tend to ramble, hence why I have a low post count)

My initial dealings with GAW was great..  It was right when the Gridseeds 5 chips came out and they were a vendor on Amazon. I purchased a few and had no problems whatsoever.  Easy ordering, fast shipping, and all was well with the world.

Then I bought a Week 4 pre-order War Machine...  That's when things went downhill. Initially their payment processing system wouldn't recognize my address or bank or something for the last bits of my payment... So while I had already paid 94% of the total cost of the device, the last 6% I opted to put on a credit card which "Wouldn't be a problem" per their support staff...  nothing could be further from the truth on that end...

Long story short on that matter (too late)

Finally a money wire was sent that took 4 days to show up in their account... Not really their fault on that end, but it did in turn delay shipping by a week...  Meanwhile the price of the unit I purchased dropped during that weeks time.

Fast forward about a month later,  Gaw stepped up and reimbursed me for lost mining time.  (Delay in shipping etc)  Perfect... I'm happy again...  I've got my rig... I'm hashing away.

Then I watch the price drop like a brick on the unit I purchased....  As of the time of this writing, it is 20% of the total I paid for it...  I'm still paying it off.... In fact I could buy 3 of them at current price, for what I still owe on my one.

But that's not the worst part...  They opt to change their website..  They do the unveiling, and ta-dah...   New look, back end, all is well..  Except my War Machine..   Wiring for one of the power connector inside the unit shorted and burnt, causing the front fans to not work, and I'm getting nothing but hardware errors.  Not good.

Go to process RMA..   RMA system is not live yet on the new website. Should be up in 48 hours per support.
Wait a day or two.  Still nothing..
Reach out to support again.  "It's going up later today."
It doesn't.
Call support following day. Get their best support agent.. (Amanda)
She gets me an RMA number and prepaid shipping label in 15 minutes, by avoiding the RMA section of the site and actually talking to the RMA folks.

RMA approved.. Still waiting on return of equipment... Results of this remain to be seen.  I'll wait until Monday or Tuesday to contact support again to find out whats going on.  (They've only had it in hand 3 days at this point.. so it's not like they are taking an inappropriate amount of time for turn around)

So now were at the:
TLDR version

Gaw Miners is a company that grew up fast. Really fast. As such, they are experiencing growing pains faster than they were able to react to them.  Honestly I don't think Josh (The CEO) had realized how fast things were going to take off. C'mon  $10 million in sales within the first 30 days of business...  That's one for the record books.

While the company itself is not 100% to blame for the rapidly dropping price in hardware, some delays in shipping, and such, they do their best to make things right for the customers..  That is the true strength of the company.   They have some innovations, especially with today's launch of "Project Prime", but where GAW Miners shines is not with the hardware they bring to the table, or competitive pricing, it's the willingness, and dedication to a positive customer experience that makes GAW miners stand out.

I will continue to do business with GAW in the future.. I just need to pay off my current rig before I add anything more to the mix.

So if you are planning on making a purchase over there... Here's a link  (Full disclosure) I get referral perks if you click through and order here...

Okay..  I didn't go to bed....

I tracked down the post again because I wanted to see if there was any new information.
Apparently the person who emailed Mintpal, has spread the word to at least one other coin within the top 10 on their btc forum ANN post requesting others to report  Conspiracy Coin as cheating, as well as Dnotes, and BitcoinTalk Coin.

Nothing like competition to bring out the worst in some people.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOTE]DNotes - Updated! - Mandatory Update by 6/1/2014 on: August 05, 2014, 08:32:10 AM
I just checked Mintpal, and we are in 2nd place.  Conspiracy is in 1st, and good for them....  They got a strong loyal community just like us, with some real interesting things showing in the Analysis paper they have on their BTC Talk Forum ANN post. Can't say that I follow the coin, but to each their own, I am certain they will do well.

The consideration to cancel voting is stemming from some of the other coins (at least one, whom will remain nameless)  who are claiming that we (Dnotes, and Conspiracy Coin were named specifically) are using bots in order to inflate our voting numbers. I ran across this while looking at some of the other coins in the lead to see what they were all about.

Now I am not certain how that would be possible, as in order to even cast a vote you need to be a registered user with an active trading history...  But the accusation was made, and it was noted on the open forum that at least one supporter of a competing for a top spot currency had emailed Mintpal repeatedly with the accusations.

If I was in Mintpal's shoes, I would of course look into allegations of foul play, because if someone is gaming the system, then what else could be impacted...  If they take action beyond that, that's for them to decide.

With this short timeline for getting added to the exchange, the competition is heating up, and people will do whatever they can in order to get their favored coin into a better position.  I am just glad that this community is standing with the integrity of the coin, rather than running wild with allegations, crying wolf, and resorting to what I personally would deem underhanded practices.

Sorry... I just read this and realized I was ranting...  I'm going to bed now.

As of 3 hours ago, Mintpal has suspended voting for one week...

Just a notice, we are suspending the voting for one week and will take our next winner next Monday. No voting winner tomorrow.

Hey just popping in to say hello..
We're # 23 on the Mintpal page.

and I also found out we are ranked # 53 on Coin Market Cap.
That looks promising.

Thanks! How's the new mining rig working out for ya?

New rig is nice, but I can't seem to find a DNotes pool I can use it on..   It takes a minute to ramp up to speed and during that period there are a good amount of stale / invalid shares. After that its smooth sailing.   Anyway, I've tried on Charity prior to the server move, I got booted off...   and had similar results over at dnotespool...

Basically, using that to mine other things to convert to BTC, still got my few 5 Chip GridSeeds pumping out Dnotes, while the big one is hitting everything else up on multipools.

Bwahahahahaha!!!!

What kind of miner did you purchase? I`m hesitant to invest in another ASIC after a sour experience with Butterfly Labs.

I picked up a War Machine from GAW Miners
Referral link for loyalty points: http://r.sloyalty.com/r/tDmNlcXScWhG  ** AKA Shameless plug **

Had a bit of a delay on shipping, but they stand behind their service and making up for the lost mining time by reimbursement.

Once I had it in hand and the power supplies, it was just a matter of which pool to point it towards...

If you do plan on picking up a new "bigger" ASIC, hold off and get a Vaultbreaker or Vaultbreaker Mini...  they are due for delivery in Q4, and run at 250 or 500 MHS respectively.

15  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BTCJam - Peer to Peer Bitcoin Lending on: June 06, 2014, 01:35:30 AM
Hey all...  Kind of curious.. What would be the point in investing / buying notes from defaulted loans.
I see them available on the site.  I just don't see a point in attempting to recover or invest in them really...

Is BTCJam taking the lead on recovering defaulted loans, and if so what sort of compensation is granted to those who held the note funding that loan initially, or through purchase?

Someone going to create a BTC collection agency ?

I'd have no problem investing in some of these if there was some means of attempted recovery, especially since some lenders are scrambling to recover any of their lost funds and selling them on the cheap.

Hmm.. I can't seem to get my wallet to Synch...    it's claiming "0 active connections to the network"

I've already tried adding a couple nodes... The ones listed on the ANN post..

Anyone have any bright ideas?
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOTE]DNotes - LAUNCHED!!! - Cryptocurrency of the Future on: April 28, 2014, 08:30:57 PM
I have been wanting to do this for a while.  Set up a web shop that sells anything that people have to offer.  Things like seeds, clothes, mining equipment, bunny poop, new and used, lol you know, the amazon of crypto.  When my wife and I get some time we were gonna get that started but who knows when that'll be, definitely not in the next month.  By the way we figured out the route we're taking and we'll be going though many states across the US and if the printer works we'll have many paper DNotes in tow for a cross country DNotes giveaway!  Some cities we'll be going through are: San Fran, Austin, New Orleans, New York, Chicago.

I think the first thing we need is a payment gateway.... Anyone good with coding ?  Or should that collective pool that was mentioned be used to hire a coder ?   We get a payment gateway, I'm certain that any number of us would be able to setup a marketplace in a few days if not sooner.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOTE]DNotes - LAUNCHED!!! - Cryptocurrency of the Future on: April 28, 2014, 01:14:26 AM
I've also added a re-tweet bounty for a limited time, 500 DNotes.
NOTE: This does not exclude you from the contest.

I have an idea why not we make a fiver dot com type site but for dnotes..many many mothers and women like me at home need that extra work..so this is good for DNOTES and for lady workers and men of course. Smiley.

I also think we should make a notefunding site like crowdfunding for women,s projects around the world, empowering women, like microfinance etc. Smiley I really like the Twitter poster.. I will do mini blog post tomorrow highlighting DNOTES FOR WOMEN. Smiley

Also I want to ad that it is such a lovely community here at DNOTES. I feel so at home.... away from all the pumping and dumping.. Grin

Did that Fivver idea ever come to fruition, or get shot down, or put to back burner ?

Oh BTW..   Hi everyone...  Long time stalker, first time poster...   Doesn't mean I haven't been active though...

I work with Peaceofwar.. Kind of my fault he is here...  hehe..

Some quick questions to mull over.

1)  Do we have a paper wallet setup?  (Good way to draw new folks into Crypto..  Think a block worth of NOTEs on a paper wallet tip for a waitress?  Hand them out at conventions? C2E2 just came to a close here in Chicago... would have been great to hit a "geek" crowd. )

2)  Any gaming setups for "gambling" with NOTES?  (Would be a good way to allow folks to do something other than sit on or dump their notes at exchanges, and maybe make the person running the site a nice stockpile)

3)  Any ideas for a marketplace or what not?   (tie in with Cryptomoms...  maybe have a Etsy like site where items can be sold for NOTEs or other Cryptocurrencies ?   I know Fedoracoin (TIPS) just launched something like a "Hey buy stuff with TIPS site"  almost like a multiseller garage sale using TIPS as a means of currency.

I saw another post on this forum for a collective pot for collective projects..  Did that go anywhere?
If it did, and there's a collective project... what can I do to help?
