1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: June 26, 2014, 02:05:03 PM
Hey im buyed new ant miner s1 but i cant connectin ant miner page. (192.168.1.99)

What is problem on there ?

my ant miner status is

fan is working

lights are

im calculate psu voltages are all ok (12v ok on pci-e cables)

im need help there...

Is the IP address on the sticker by the fan 192.168.1.99? If yes what is the IP address of the computer that you are using to attempt the connection?

still waiting some miracles....  Embarrassed  Embarrassed  Embarrassed

What is your problem exactly?
I have managed to fix my Ant's problem.
Maybe I can help.
my ANtminer S1 controller board wont start hashing

if i switch the bad controller board from the other good S1, it'll start hashing

tried to change the cables... flash firmware...etc
no hope

now am still waiting for bitmain to reply me about sending a good one (controllerboard)
but no hope,,, they're ignoring me now  Angry

anyway, is there a way to change the controller board of S1 with something buyable from the local market?
i mean, like RPI, or MR3020?
i just dont know how to modify the cables

I have read several of your posts on this problem and something just came to me. The configuration for the controller board is stored on the board. So when you switch a known good working board you are also transferring a known good working configuration.

Hate to be a pain, but have you verified that your configuration on the "bad" board is exactly the same as on the good board? (I would personally keep the "good" board off the network and even use the same IP address as the good configuration just to be sure that the control board is bad.)

Hope this bit of advice helps and that you find some small configuration difference that gets it working for you! (Hate to deal with RMA stuff!)
3  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Overclocking - Hardware error rate vs. Hash rate tradeoff on: June 12, 2014, 02:15:58 PM
I had the same doubt, so I wrote a small Java program that calculates the "effective" GH/s for the S1 based on this formula based on the values reported by the S1:
Code:
EffGHs = (DiffA + DiffR) / (DiffA + DiffR + HWE) * GHs
Where:
  • EffGHs = Effective GH/s
  • DiffA = DiffA reported by the S1
  • DiffR = DiffR reported by the S1
  • HWE = HW reported by the S1
  • GHs = GH/S(avg)reported by the S1

I let the miner run for about a week with each setting and then calculate this value. So far by best value is 193.8396 GH/s for a frequency of 381.25 (5e05 freq value) and a timeout of 37.

BTC TO

Thanks for the formula! I've got a spreadsheet going to calculate this. Next step will be writing a program to automatically pull this from the cgminer API on the miner.
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: June 12, 2014, 02:14:27 PM
i tried to flash the firmware... no good...
tried to switch the cables... no good...
tried to switch PSU... no good... (while my PSU is working perfect with the other S1)

btw, this one is quite different
the LED light is yellow
unlike the common S1, which is the LED light is green

and, when i started this S1 (yellow LED), the LED on the blade is not blinking
maybe the blade is dead? oh god...

I had similar problems with my S1 (I can't remember the LED color) The two things that I had to "get right" were the DNS server and my username on the pool. I know that if it can't reach the pool it will not start hashing.

First off I would use the web interface to the S1 and see if you can ping your pool. That will ensure that your IP configuration is correct. If you can't ping your pool then check the DNS configuration.

If you can ping the pool, check that your worker name and password for the pool are correct. (I forgot to prefix my worker name with my pool user name.)

One other thing that popped into my mind is the LAN settings vs WAN settings. WAN is where you make the changes so that the miner will work on your network. LAN should be set for DHCP. (I believe that LAN is used internally by the miner to communicate with the boards.)
5  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Overclocking - Hardware error rate vs. Hash rate tradeoff on: June 11, 2014, 05:27:48 PM
Check your return from the pool, not what the miner says.

All that matters is the return from the pool vs the cost of the extra energy used.

If you make more than its costs then its worth while overclocking.

The problem is that I have no baseline to check against.

Also, since I'm on Bitminter (PPLNS) it is hard to run for a while at one setting and then change to another to compare because of the varying CDF.
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Overclocking - Hardware error rate vs. Hash rate tradeoff on: June 11, 2014, 03:25:24 PM
Hi all!

I have an AntMiner S1 that I have overclocked to 375MHz and I am getting some hardware errors (plus one ASIC is showing an error) but my hash rate is running about 10GH/s higher than when it was not overclocked. My hardware error rate is running around 0.25%. I had it overclocked to 400MHz and my error rate was running around 5.5%.

I'm just wondering if given my current error rate that I would be better off sacrificing the 10GH/s for a nearly zero error rate.

TIA!

I would like to install electrum on my Galaxy S5. When I open SL4A I am supposed to press the menu button.
Where is the menu button ? I only see a list of .py scripts. The hardware buttons on my phone also don't seem to have an effect.
Can anybody help me please ?

I have an S5 as well. You need to long press on the app list button (left of the home button)
8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: June 07, 2014, 02:49:20 AM

I did some more poking around and rebooted. I then saw that cgminer is running happily in the processes list, but after some time it disappears from the list Huh

is it maybe not able to talk to the ASICs? All of the cables appear to be attached properly and I'm using a Corsair CX600 PSU so it should have enough heft to run it.

I'm REALLY confused! Huh

Do you have configured more than one pool ? Maybe it is unable to talk with pool and then process stops. But it will restart every 3 minutes.
Try to setup failover pools and then you will see if cgminer walk to another pool and hashes there. You can see this in Miner status under LSTime.

The 600W should be fine even for "normal" OC-ing. Cheesy

It works fine on another pool. I'd love to stay where I am but maybe it's time to switch.

What pool would people suggest?

Stupid me! I did not prefix my worker name with my user name!

I had:

WorkerName

But I needed

UserName_WorkerName

I have a new (to me) AntMiner S1 and I can't get it to talk to BitMinter at stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333

I was able to get it to talk to (and start mining) at stratum+tcp://us1.ghash.io:3333

So what is the "special sauce" I need for BitMinter?

Sailing_Nut, try to start process manualy:
Code:
/etc/init.d/cgminer start

Thanks for that!

12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: June 06, 2014, 08:30:58 PM

That means that you missed a few commands.  I made a sure-fire way to get it done every time.  Try this:
Code:
cd /usr/bin/
wget http://kano-kun.net/AntS1/cgminer-ants1-4.3.2a-85fcf0c
chmod +x cgminer-ants1-4.3.2a-85fcf0c
mv cgminer cgminer.original
rm cgminer
ln -s cgminer-ants1-4.3.2a-85fcf0c cgminer
reboot

My newly arrived S1 refused to mine. I checked from the web setup that I can ping my pool from the miner, so my IP connectivity is good.

I then did some research and came across this thread. I used the procedure to update cgminer and now I get this when checking the version:

Code:
root@antMiner:~# cgminer -V
-ash: cgminer: not found

This has me very worried! I'm not very good with Linux and I need to get this fixed so that I can get to mining.

Any and all help is appreciated!

OK I got brave and fixed it myself!

When I did an ls I saw that cgminer was there but it was not marked as executable. it seems that the "ln -s" command did not copy over the executable attribute. I removed the cgminer that was there and then used "cp" and I can now see that the version has changed to 4.3.2a

However, my miner is still not mining. :-(

When I check the list of processes I don't see cgminer in there anywhere, that seems to be a reasonable answer to the problem, but not sure how to fix that!

14  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Four unverified payments on: February 25, 2014, 10:20:30 PM
I'm having the same problem but with the portable version.

I can't seem to locate the block_headers file to delete it. I found one but it appears to be from the installed version because deleting it had no affect on the behavior of the portable version.

FYI I use the portable version because the installed version just won't connect to a server no matter what I do.

It should be in the USB stick or in the same directory as the executable as it is portable

I have it running in a tmp directory and I can't find the file. Strange!

Any other thoughts?

16  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum for Android install problem on: June 06, 2013, 01:13:25 PM
http://electrum.org/android.html

1.7.3 is the latest version in that script

The 1.7.4 package need to be manually created (unless you want to wait for the official package to be release). I use an Android app to manually copy the files directly to the SD card on the phone from the PC.

Been out of touch for a while and just got back to this. I'm trying to install the version that is referenced from the page you posted the link to. I assumed that it was 1.7.4 since I found the link on a 1.7.4 download page.  Embarrassed

So, my problem is with trying to install 1.7.3.

Sorry for the confusion!
17  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum for Android install problem on: May 31, 2013, 05:40:11 PM
Yes, I'm trying to install the 1.7.4 client.

Can the client be manually installed without root access? (Never got around to rooting my current phone. Embarrassed) If yes, can you point me to instructions? I looked around the electrum.org site a bit and was unable to find any manual install process.

Thanks!
18  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum for Android install problem on: May 30, 2013, 02:53:16 PM
Hi,

I'm using Electrum on my desktop and really like it. I wanted to install the Android version but when I attempt to run the install python script I get an error.

SL4A reports that it cannot run the script and then reports "null" I'm assuming that an error should be reported when it shows null but that is all that I get.

TIA for all help!
