1  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: mining with a generator on: April 07, 2022, 01:51:10 PM
I've exhausted all the electricity i can use in my house that i'm renting. The landlord won't let me upgrade the panel so i'm seeking for an alternate way to mine.

i need to find a way to mine with about 3800W power. (Moving is not an option for a year or 2).

Would i be able to mine with a gas or gasoline generator in my basement with  no vent?
Do people rent a storage to mine? i'm located in michigan.

all you need is extra 3800w? Thats not even alot... you could probably get away with changing the fuse in the panel and not telling the landlord and just running it... I know its shady method but you are not hurting anybody... 3800w is probably negligible, and if its not, thats what the fuse is for, it will blow and stop everything.

main amp breaker is 50A and i'm like 3000W or some lower since the breaker has been keep tripping. this is ridiculous. it's not like i have a lot of appliances.
No idea what's spiking that electricity to trip the breaker

hmm i see

https://www.solockpool.us/
Anyone bought from these websites before?
They sell some new ones.

oh my mistake.
Bitmain L3+ around 500 MH/S. This is what i'm looking at on ebay
The going rate seems to be $1200. Is that a good price in the current LTC market?
Also what should i be looking for when i buy used ones ?

Are you looking for a used/2nd hand Antminer that could mine ETH? Bitmain doesn't release yet any miner that could mine ETH so you can't buy any 2nd hand ETH miner.

They have planning to release a new one this year but I don't think that you can buy it for $4000 I believe the price will be higher than that.

I don't mind mining BTC. Is it safe to buy used ones?
i saw a few used Bitmain for like $2000. I'm seeing these Bitmain hashing 1500 Gh/s. Is it really 1500 Gh/s for $2000?

I spent a lot of money on GPU rig and it’s hashing 1 GH/s. Sound too good to be true

I've been running GPUs for ETH mining for awhile now.
I want to try something like Bitman type of miner for mining ETH this time in 240V.
Which miners can you recommend that i get from Ebay shipped in USA for under 4000$?

Intel Xeon L5630 2.13GHz SLBVD 12MB LGA1366 Quad Core Processor MATCHING PAIR
Supermicro X8DTE Dual Socket 1366 E-ATX Motherboard DDR3 SATA2 w/ I/O Shield
which server psu would be recommended?
all of those items with 6 3070 RTX.
Another question in, can i run Hive os on Supermicro X8DTE?

i'm just gonna go with GPU set up actually.
i went ahead and bought a few 3070 GPUs. I'll buy more to have 6 of them.

Along with those,
Intel Xeon L5630 2.13GHz SLBVD 12MB LGA1366 Quad Core Processor MATCHING PAIR
Supermicro X8DTE Dual Socket 1366 E-ATX Motherboard DDR3 SATA2 w/ I/O Shield
Both are refurbished/used. like $60 for both.
Do you guys think this is the best combo?
https://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/QPI/5500/X8DT6-F.cfm?IPMI=Y&SAS=N
4 (x8) PCI-E 2.0,
4 (x4) PCI-E 2.0 and 1 (x4) PCI-E slot
Be sure to write how your motherboard will work and how many video cards will be mined at the same time.
In theory, (x1) PCI-E is enough for mining, but how your motherboard will work, I don't know

This is for X8DTE. i'm planning to get this
4 (x8) PCI-E 2.0 slots
1 (x4) PCI-E 2.0 slot
1 (x4) PCI-E slot

Yours is X8DTE-F
i am planning to run 6 3070RTX and use Hive OS . can i use PCIe 2.0 slots and PCIe 2.0 slot(4)? i'm guessing 4 means 4 pins

Why Intel Xeon L version? Are you planning to use the motherboard for something else? If no then go for Intel Pentium CPU, they are the cheapest since you won't be needing the CPU horsepower

you can't beat $5 for a matching pair Intel Xeon haha
MB is $50 too

Did you check how many cards your motherboard can handle? That's the first question you should ask when choosing rig hardware.

6 i think. i dont know why i can't attach a pic here.
can any cheap MB handle 6-10 GPUs?

Well it looks like buying any GPU that has over 35 mh/s is almost impossible at retail.
Are the ASICS that available now to purchase worth buying?
i'm guessing all the good ones are already sold out

Hi people
i've just started mining on my PC for a few days and i think i would like to up my game. This is what i want to do.
Here are some things that i want to achieve:
at least 20K$ a year profit
Not too loud. maybe under 60db. Under 50 would be so nice.

I'll be running it in my living room.
I currently have RTX 2080 TI on my PC and hashrate shows around 50MH/s. At this rate, Minerstat shows $114.45/month profit. with Ethermine pool.
So in order to make 20k$ a year, id need 18 of RTX 2080 TI or less with graphic cards with higher hashrate?
i don't know if the calculation is as simple as this.

I'm not so sure how loud it'll get with 12 graphic cards but overall size wise, it's doable for me.
I don't have a set budget but i'm thinking i can pull out about 6k$ now.

Thanks Smiley
