I have a 3 year old account with over 100k link and 100k comment karma.

What's that worth to you?

My ZenMiner came without the OS loaded on it.  Does anyone have the image for it so that I can get this thing up and running?
3  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ZenMiner (unmoderated) service discussion thread on: May 30, 2014, 03:06:25 AM
And the info post!

The site is here:

http://zenminer.com/

Keep in mind, and this isn't being snarky, the homepage contents are changing daily as they update things, but we'll update here as things are updated online.  It is a new service so they're likely kicking the tires a bit on everything

Terms and conditions: n/a

Support contact: support@zenminer.com, or you can follow the link at the top of the site

Standalone software: https://gawminers.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202184744-cgminer-source-and-config

And... this is all I've got right now.  Please update this thread with your experiences using ZenMiner.com as well as your thoughts on the service.  Also, in the name of transparency this is an unmoderated thread (community forum and all), but please do stay objective.  Try to only comment on tangible things (like statistics, concrete service enhancements or problems, being told one thing then another happens), etc., since the goal is to openly and actively discuss the service so users can get the most out of it.

Thanks community!

Edit (5/28): Updated support email, looks like this one is accurate per the website.

Edit (5/28): Added placeholder for software download link when available.  Software link available, testing build shortly.  Builds!  Just need device to test.

You got that Pi software? Mine came without the ZenMiner image on it

Looks like the UI has been upgraded a bit! It now contains pool results (Accepted Shares/Rejected Shares/Discarded/Stale/Diff1 Work/Get Failures/Remote Failures) on the Miner screen.

It's a start in the right direction.

Must be nice....my sd card in my zenminer came with the NOOBS image. I have spent the last 6 hours trying to get this "plug and play" system set up. After a couple of hours I was able to get the image from GAW, so far I am not impressed as no one even knows the user name and password for the image. I was able to figure it out but still cannot get my miner to register with the code. Is anyone else having any issues like this?

....and now after dealing with zensupport all day they simply handed the issue off to GAW saying its the responsibility of GAW not theirs. Makes sense since this is a Zenminer Controller  Roll Eyes

As previously mentioned in our emails exchanged, we support the hardware and the service. But the configuration is specific to each retailer. In this case, GAW provided the wrong image by mistake. I apoligize for the inconvenience, but I am sure that GAW Miners will do whatever it takes to make it right. Once you receive your new properly configured unit, I assure you I will support its connectivity to our service til the day its last hash is calculated.

I understand GAW may have made the mistake, but I have now lost 7 hours of mining time with this "plug and play" system so you can understand my frustration.

I certainly do understand... As a miner myself, I prevent downtime at all costs... But sometimes that means a creative solution while I work out my preferred method Smiley I know that doesn't make things right at this very moment, but I will forward this information to GAW as well to further assist you in getting a replacement unit.

I am trying to be creative, unfortunately I dont have an additional pc to run my new miner on, and I am not proficient enough to setup linux on my pi.

Just use it on your normal PC until the image problem gets fixed.  That's what I'm doing with mine. I had the same issue of not having the image on my Pi.

Is your flash card inserted solidly?   You can download the flash image (OS and mining binary) from GAW, then put it onto your card.

If you are having issues with the ZenController (raspberry Pi) here's what I suggest you can do to possibly find the problem:

Connect the HDMI cable from the ZenController to a display and plug a USB keyboard into the ZenMiner.  Login using

Username: root
Password: gawminers

Once logged in, you can enter the cgminer screen process by typing: screen -r

You will see the current output from cgminer and if you're like me, instantly realize you did not enter your pool credentials correctly. Smiley

To exit the screen and leave cgminer running, press Control-a-d.  (i.e. hold 'Control' then press 'a' then press 'd').

If you dont have an HDMI compatible display, the ZenController is preconfigured to grab an IP address from the network via DHCP.  So you can login to your internet router and the ZenController will probably listed in your list of connected devices / DHCP leases.  You can then SSH into the ZenController using the same login info as above.  You could also scan your network for the IP address, or randomly try IP addresses on your network until you get an SSH connection.

Mine won't even get an IP address. Not from my router, or my extender. Tested on known working ports with known working cables.

Connected a monitor to it and it asked me to install an OS to it.  I'm wondering if I didn't get the ZenMiner OS installed on mine.

I can't find the zenMINER os anywhere on GAW's site. You have a link for me?

FWIW, my Black Widow that arrived an hour ago is hashing away at 14MH/s.

How much power is it drawing? I have mine plugged into a 650w EVGA 80Gold PSU that's drawing 89w at idle (300w with the BW plugged in). AS SOON as I start mining, it shuts down and I have to CMOS reset my PC to even get it to boot back up.

PEOPLE, if you call in or talk to tech support, can you please be nice to them?  I just chatted with Jonathan about my zenminer problem. We didn't come to a resolution, but he opened a ticket for me.  At the end, he thanked me for being nice about it and not yelling at him.

THE PEOPLE TRYING TO HELP YOU ARE NOT THE CAUSE OF YOUR PROBLEMS.  Give them a break. They are there to HELP you. The nicer you are, the easier you'll be to help.

Plugged in my ZenMiner today, but it would never register on my network.  Finally hooked it up to my PC with the HDMI cable to check it out.  It's asking me to install an OS, and anything I click on says "This will overwrite the current OS".  I do not have an option to exit or boot to an OS.

Did I get an SD card without the ZenMiner OS on it?  Also, the miner never registers on the zenminer site.

While wireless devices are not supported in the launch release, we may be including support in a future release. In the meantime, for those of you who require wireless, you can always use an inexpensive wireless bridge device like the one found here -> http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-WET11-Wireless-Ethernet-Bridge/dp/B000066JQU

Forgive me if I'm sounding ticked off, but learning the above plus seeing my shipment bounce all over the western US instead of coming fairly direct to me have combined to put me in a pretty foul mood atm.  So....

Uhhh...  that site says "2 new from $100" and, frankly, $100 isn't "inexpensive" in my books.  As well, if I want to go that route I now have to order another part and wait for it to come!  I sure wish I'd known about this before!

So, correct me if I'm wrong...  since it appears I can't use zenminer unless I either string network cable or buy an (cough!) "inexpensive" bridge can I buy a cheap memory card, install the raspberry pi o/s and the GAW cgminer software and run the furys via wifi that way???

Thanks for your help...

Regards,

Chris

Drive out to Best Buy (or Walmart) and get a Netgear one.  Best Buy price matches Amazon, so you can get the amazon price and not have to wait for shipping.  I use one for my mining rigs, and I'll probably be putting this one down there with them as well.

My Fury is hashing away @1.3MHs happily so I turned off my 7990 rig which @.19KWH wasn't really doing anything for me. So happy that I ordered another Fury! Sucks I have to wait a couple of weeks for it but that's OK.

You should go mine x11 or x13 coins with those rigs.

Couple of announcements today Smiley

The day has finally come! The majority of Generation A miners will be delivered today! We are excited for you to get them and start mining your favorite coins.

ZenMiner is up and ready for your registrations, just follow the instructions inside the box. Keep in mind, there will be some bumps in the road. Please let us know about any challenges your having by sending us an email to support@gawminers.com. We will address them as quickly as possible, things will get more ironed out as the week goes on. Please do not post support questions here as they will be deleted and put in to a ticket.

Thank you for your support! And happy mining today!

Excited for everyone else, but sad for me. My Fury/BW combo just left Hong Kong today, and I've only gotten one of the Zenminers so far, so I'm hoping that gets her soon as well.

However, I know that my experience is not the norm (at least from what I can tell), and customer support has been spot on any time I had an issue.  I'm sad that I'll be missing a few days of mining profits, but I understand that there's no such thing as a 100% smooth rollout of a product (I work as a SysAdmin, so I deal with stuff like this on a daily basis).

I'm also having a bit of buyer's remorse......that I didn't get a War Machine.

Order #63XX (mine) how has tracking uploaded and is marked as "complete"
14  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 27, 2014, 12:46:13 PM
Any chance of getting some inside photos of the hosting facility?

Would you let a customer visit the facility?

Curious about the hosting facility as well.  Any chance it is being undertaken with Verne?  I'm wondering how many smaller companies (sorry) like GAW and CloudHashing are going to be able to cram into these facilities with the likes of BMW and other big-name industrial giants starting to warm up to Iceland for the cheap power.  Probably lucky if you have a contract in place right now.

Also, 8am EST on Tuesday the 27th.  No tracking for a week one Fury or the accompanying zenBox.  It's no longer the 26th in any part of the world, it's actually Wednesday some places, so your statement that tracking was going out yesterday turned out to be a lie.  Please update tracking instead of running lip service on the forum or making up contests.  Request from a paying customer.

If you are online and can delete posts, you can answer why tracking is still not updated.  I'm only posting this because you lied and tracking has not been updated and I would like an update since in theory my miner shipped now three full days ago.

They didn't say "tracking will go out on tuesday of wherever you are". Tracking is going to go out tuesday of where THEY are. They work on EST time, so they have another 16hrs to get all tracking updated.

Also, do you have an idea how long it takes to update over 5000 tracking numbers?  Hint: a long time.

People like you are why I stopped selling on ebay, despite my power seller status. Nothing is ever good enough.

Let's narrow it down.

So it includes

Luke
Jeff
Amanda
Joe
And I
You are Fury (since he's the leader)
Amand has to be Black Widow
Joe would be Falcon
Luke would be War Machine
And Jeff is Big Gun

I have ten furys on order but these aren't pocket sized I don't think I have the room to run all of these

10? Why didn't you just get a Black Widow at that price?  Less wires and less components.

>> GAW_CEO:

Look, I am tired of explaining this.

We DO NOT INCLUDE ANY OTHER SOFTWARE THEN OUR OWN.

If you want to run something different, that's on you. This is how the entire mining world works

For example, Knc has their own software they ship. And of you don't want to use it, they do not stop you. But it's then up to you to install what you want.

I don't think we are the right company to support your needs. I think issuing you a refund so you can find a company that can accommodate your specific needs is the best option.

We, literally, have thousands of customers. And your the only one I am having this conversation with.

>> ME:

You said if we asked for the software we can get it.

I am asking for the software so I can run it.

What is so challenging here?  What isn't sinking in?  And that either means your customer pool is a flock of jackasses or people are otherwise ignorant of these developments because you haven't actually sent out official communication in regards to the requirement of using zenMiner along with the rpi included.  You sent out a message to advertise the Big Gun, you send multiple shipping confirmations, yet informing people of the whole zen thing just doesn't matter?  Informing them of the power changes doesn't matter?  So all your customers should be following bitcointalk and/or repeatedly checking the website in case what they ordered suddenly requires additional hardware.

Fuck, man, I really can't believe you ran successful businesses when you aren't even informing your customer base of these changes.  This is basic shit and you guys are getting it wrong.

So, again, per your own words all we had to do was ask for the software.  Please link me to the software and I'll be gone.  That's all it would have taken since this zen shit-show started.

What we have here is you just typing in some words. I could type out anything and put your name on it.

Even if it's a true conversation, GAW isn't obligated to provide software for you. They're hardware vendors.

Regarding canceling My previous preorder and reordering the fury on the new Privé structure. I just want to give props to Amanda at Gaw. she was awsome through and through.

Can you explain about the Privé structure? Should I cancel and re-order as well?

Looks like Zeusminer added chips to their ASICs http://zeusminer.com/2014/05/21/20140521/

Any chance this also affects the ASICs from GAW, since they partnered with Zeus?
20  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - THE BIG GUN - 100 MH Scrypt Miner! $11,999.95 on: May 21, 2014, 03:26:13 AM
I've lurked in these forums for about 6 months, but today I decided to make an account, just to tell my GAWMiners story. I have no affiliation with GAW whatsoever. I started mining DOGE and moved on to other coins and have made a decent amount by speculating new coins and mining different algos, but wanted to get more scrypt hashing power.

So, about 2 weeks ago a brother of mine and I decided that we were going to pool our money and get a 27MHs machine from Zoomhash because I'd gotten a targeted 15% off coupon in my email. However, I decided to see if GAW would match that, so I shot them off an email and decided to wait for a bit.  Good thing I did,  because my brother ended up with some unexpected bills and had to drop out, but I decided that I still wanted to buy some miners.

I purchased 1 individual miner with the GAW25 code, and 6 others.  The NEXT DAY I got a response from GAW saying, "We can't do 15% off, but we could do 10% off".  Great, awesome, I'm going to do that, and I'll get a Black Widow since that means less wires and stuff to manage.  But I didn't want to get stuck with the Furys as well, so I wanted to cancel the order.

The ticket I submitted didn't get answered yesterday (wasn't too surprised with that), so I called in and talked to Amanda. She got everything cancelled...but then I realized that I forgot to tell her to leave that miner I purchased with the GAW25 code (figured at that price it was worth it).  Sadly, that code could only be used once per account, and she couldn't put it back on.  So, instead of saying "tough titties, you shouldn't have told me to cancel everything if you didn't want me to cancel everything", she says "How about if I give you $25 store credit?".  Ok, that works for me.

I hang up and go to buy 1 black widow and 1 fury.  Wait...now the 10% off code they gave me won't work.  So, I call back and talk to someone else.  He tells me "Ya, that code is good on your account for 24 hours, and we can't put it back on once it's expired. It's a one time thing".  Now I'm thinking "Shit...I just screwed myself"  But then he says "What were you going to purchase?".  I tell him 1 BW and 1 Fury. He says, "Ok, then I'll give you store credit for $216.99, which is 10% of that price".

Wow. Thanks GAW. You guys didn't have to do any of those things since none of them were your fault, but you did.

Do you want me to only buy ASICs from you? Because that's how you get me to only buy ASICs from you.
