1  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Are hardware wallets really 100% safe? on: September 20, 2025, 10:19:49 AM
Sorry to say but wetin be the emphasis of this thread? Na about the importance of seed phrase or the dangers of hardware wallet? If na about safety and security, nothing is %100 safe and secure.

However, the hardware wallet is more secured than other types of wallets based on say e no dey vulnerable to online attacks since it's mainly offline. Regardless of the wallet you're using either online or offline, if you don't keep your private keys or passphrase in safe place, you're likely to lose your coins. In as much as where you keep your coins matters, it mostly depends on how you handle the safety of your seed phrase.

Only few of us here can boast of using money to acquire a hardware wallet for storage of our coins, majority rely on online wallets. Hence, it's paramount to keep security at the forefront to maintain our assets.

Galatasaray did not play well against Frankfurt yesterday, and even if Galatasaray has more possession, it does not mean that they played well because they did not win the match and conceded five goals, Galatasaray score an opening goal in the match and they end up losing the game, a poor performance from Galatasaray, and they should consider themselves lucky that this is not the knockout stage of the competition; otherwise, there is nothing they can do to qualify for the next round.

A total disappointment from Galatasary yesterday against Frankfurt. No game plan, no working tactics and no interference in the game at all. The defense is a total disgrace, the midfield was completely ruled out and the attack was nothing but trash. The coach was watching desperately and helpless on the sideline despite his team was losing 5-1. Such indecisive coaching style will hardly succeed in Europe competition because to succeed in Europe competition, a coach must definitely knows how to read games and offers appropriate tactics.

The majority of people believe that Chelsea is much better than Bayern Munich because they've won the Club World Cup against PSG.  Remember that PSG defeated Bayern Munich along with two red cards, which is reason they believe Chelsea is better than Bayern. Bayern Munich have also been in good shape recently, signing more players to improve their team, they outperformed Chelsea in every position of the game. We made a mistake when we assumed Chelsea could beat any team in the Champions League.

Majority of people you say? Or you mean to say majority of Chelsea fans? If anyone actually thinks Chelsea was the favourite to win against Bayern Munich yesterday then I must say they're not ready to accept reality but derive their assumptions from the past. I don't expect anything less from what I watched yesterday, personally.

If you have watched Chelsea game recently and also watch bayern Munich recent games, unless you want to bias in your own judgement, you'll agree with me that Chelsea stand no chance against bayern Munich. To cut it short, I don't think Chelsea will go far in this year champions league unless so many things are put in place.

Yep.  The forum was different 13 years ago, even if it's only in subtle ways like this.

But man, can you imagine if you were allowed to make anonymous posts these days?  This forum would be an absolute flood basin of spam and shitposts--and I'm talking more so than it was prior to the merit system.

Props to OP for reading through old threads; that's something I think people should do more of, because it's almost as good as reading a book on the history of bitcoin.  I've done a lot of reading of threads from the early days, and I accidentally stumbled across the first thread where the concept of a signature campaign was introduced.  Wish I saved the link to it!

Damn! I have to overlook the warning this thread hasn't been posted in for years.

I was reading through one thread this morning and recommendations made me to click as many links as possible until I found myself in 2013 thread. I discovered something strange (guest post) and my curiosity led me to this old thread here.

This is the user I came across with guest under the unclickable profile

I wanted to create a thread for clarification and then I quickly realised the use of search button. It helped by the way.

Should forum allow anonymous post until now, spam and shit post will be a minor issue. We'll definitely read more on trolls, vilify and allegations thread instead of real discussions since they can hide under anonymous user and make such posts.

Sorry, I think you got mixed up.

To be clear, I'm not asking for help or a solution. It's just a discussion.

Really? Are you really serious here? So you mean even if this thread leads to a solution to your problem you won't be glad to use it? Sorry to say but you must be joking. Unless you're confident the balance in your wallet worth insignificant amount. Lol Grin

sunsilk provided a link that leads to some useful threads with helpful information. You should check them out because there is no point discussing what will not lead to solution. The forum is not for chit chat but for sharing valuable information.
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ? Lega Serie A ?? (Italian League) Prediction Thread 2025/2026 ? on: September 18, 2025, 08:13:35 AM
GF and GS in Italian mean goals scored and goals conceded.
Bastisisca did not use the English terms for these data.
However, he did not include the goal difference, otherwise the table would become really huge. And anyway, it is data for its own sake; in my opinion, it would make more sense to keep only the goal difference as data.

Thank you for this clarification. I'm not too familiar with these Italian terms since we are used to English table presentation here. I haven't watched Napoli match this season but I will try to watch their next game to see how their defense looks like because it's incredible to score six goals in three matches and concede just one goal. The defenders are doing a hell of job at that back indeed. It's funny how Lecce is the direct opposite of Napoli with one goal score and concede six goals on the contrary and also the last on the table. It's not surprising, the table justified it.

What does GF and GS mean here? I assume the first one means goal difference but I don't think that's correct having considered the figures under it. Juventus is the team I'm keenly watching here and I must confess that I'm really impressed with how they get started this season. They presently occupy the second position on the table and had incredible match yesterday against Dortmund in the champions league opening. Although, their defense is very poor having concede seven whole goals in their last two matches within a week. It will be difficult to progress and win anything if the defence and goalkeeper are not in proper shape.

These are clear signs that Amorim isn't the right man to manage Man Utd. After all, Man Utd has given him plenty of time, and things still look the same (no improvement since the start of this new season). Honestly, my gut tells me that if management doesn't act soon, a similar ending to last season could happen to Man Utd.

Manchester united has given him plenty time? Like seriously? Did he not take over when the season was almost over last season? We are just into a new season with only four matches played for goodness sake.

Although, I'm not a Manchester united fan and I don't care whether they sack their coach or not but it's unfair to say they have given him plenty of time when he hasn't spent a complete season with them. When you talk of Arsenal and Arterta now, I will definitely agree with you that they have given him enough time to prove himself.

Manchester united problem is beyond changing of coach as we assumed. This guy (Amorin) was doing well in his former club before coming here and things started going south for him. Ten Hang was here and couldn't fixed the problem, Amorin is here and the problem persists. How sure are we that bringing in a new coach would fix it?

Shame to see Aston Villa lost against Brentford.

Aston Villa played with many important players, while Brentford mix the players with the B class players and younger generation. Sancho not even give any contribution in Aston Villa, his quality is no longer as good as before when he was in Dortmund.

We see Aston Villa bad in Premier League and also in EFL, Aston Villa should sack Unai Emery before it's too late.

I know things are quite tough now for Aston villa but I must commend them because they played better definitely. Unai Emery mistake was not making the necessary substitute at the right time but I won't still blame him much because they have loan and sold some of their good players.

The overall performance was a bit fine because they had a good possession during the game but they lacked the instinct to kill the game early and fell down easily at the opponent box which yields no result. But does all this matter when they are being eliminated from the competition? It actually doesn't matter so yes, it was a disappointment in the end.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Season on: September 17, 2025, 11:36:43 AM
Will Tottenham not go to Villarreal stadium to play? If the club can not win more than 1 goal at their home, it is possible that they may not be lucky in Villarreal's home when next they are playing. The club that I prefer most that did very well that comes from EPL is Arsenal as it won Athletic Bilbao 2 goals to nothing which is not a home match for Arsenal.

No, Tottenham will not visit Villareal stadium to play away match. The new champions league format that was introduced and effective since last season does not operate in the same format as the previous format that allows home and away matches against same team in the group stage. This new format allows you to play a team once at this stage which can either be home or away match. Home and away match will continue during the knockout stages just the way it use to be before.

As for Arsenal match, Athletic Bilbao were just unfortunate for not winning that match. The outcome favoured Arsenal but their performance was not something to be proud of. A draw could be a more fair result judging from both teams performance.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Season on: September 16, 2025, 12:39:48 PM
What we fail to understand sometimes is that the do called favourites most of the time doesn't even make it to the champions league finals let alone winning it. You see this Liverpool and Barcelona that you think are the favourites, just mark it somewhere, non of them will play the champions league finals this season. It's not as it seems that's why the competition is different from every other club competitions.

Just the same way it happened last season. From the beginning of the champions league last season, many of us predicted Liverpool as the favourite team to win based on their first impressions but unfortunately they were eliminated quickly than we expect without reaching the final. The new champions league format make things a little complicated but I believe every participating club this year is fully prepared. After the first round games, we may be able to measure each team ability based on how they perform in the first round. A team performance in their domestic league doesn't determine their performance in the champions league so I won't picked my favourite team based on their league performance.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: African Football Discussion Thread Current Topic: 👉 World Cup Qualifiers. on: September 16, 2025, 12:21:38 PM
I never expected the super eagles to even find any country difficult to win in the group stage, but it’s now surprising how the super eagles are struggling to win even weak country, with the squad which the super eagles are having, they are the ones that are suppose to be at the top of the table.

Lack of seriousness from the beginning was the reason why the Super eagle failed to top the group. South Africa on the other hand took the opportunity very personal and sit comfortably on the top. South Africa was the only team I expected to give Nigeria a tough game not knowing that our squad will struggle even against average teams. Although, I'm not happy that we won't be playing in the coming world cup but I think it's better to save ourselves from the international embarrassment since we are finding it difficult to win against local teams in the same continent. Imagine what will happen if we fall in the same group with the likes of Argentina, Spain, Brazil, France or England, it's going to be brutal.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: What pushes the wealthy? on: September 16, 2025, 12:00:32 PM
Is it fear of getting poor again? That could be a really good reason to want to keep working to get more money.

Is there any other reason that can beat this one? I don't think so. If you have experience actual poverty before where you find it hard to feed yourself, dress and smelling nice is never in your thoughts because all that matter to you is food to survive and all of a sudden you manage to escape that situation, I bet you won't be happy to see yourself in such despicable situation again and you would do everything possible to maintain your new situation. Although, that's not always the case since some wealthy people enjoy the benefits of generational wealth but the example given is the most popular scenario. Money is never enough for consumption, the more you have it the more you crave for more of it. Hence, the need to keep up with what will multiply it.
14  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: My advice for newbies in CEX p2p transactions. on: September 16, 2025, 10:48:35 AM
Always check marchants transaction history: The more orders that a marchant has successfully completed the better to do p2p transactions with them. If many people have traded with them it shows that they have built reputation in the exchange.

I don't know how true it is but I once read somewhere that merchants can inflate their numbers of trade thereby creating a fake impression on the platform. Instead of emphasising on the number of trades completed, I would rather consider a verified merchant. Sticking to this high number of trades will definitely kick out the new traders coming into the market which is not good for fair and competitive market.

Quote
No third party payments: It is more reliable to trade your crypto to fiat (naira) with a marchant that states "no Third party party payments". It shows that they only want to pay naira from their bank account and you will receive only with your bank account. This is important to avoid scams and also to avoid suspicious transactions.

Almost all the traders usually have this on their bio but unfortunately they only consider this when you're buying from them. If you want to sell to them, they some time pay from a third party account claiming it's their company account or whatever.

Quote
Don't drop your phone number: Some of the marchants will tell you to drop your number so that they can chat with you Incase of issues. Do not drop your number, let every chat to be in the exchange. If you do they might contact you outside the exchange to scam you.

In some cases, it's not bad giving out your number because circumstances may occur and you may be carried away or forgotten to release a coin on time. However, in as much as I won't condemn giving out your number entirely, I will strongly advise newbies never to entertain any form of conversation aside a reminder to release a coin.

Quote
Don't release your coins until you receive payment: Until you confirm payment into your bank account don't release your coins, no matter the pressure from the marchant.

Not only when you receive payment but when you verify and the payment is in full. Some merchant now pay a partial payment with similar figures hoping you won't notice they omit some part of your payment. Please verify every figure bit by bit before you release your coin to them.

These are indeed a nice tips for newly and of course to experience users as well.
15  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: 🎉🎉🎉🟩⬜🟩NAIJA INDEPENDENCE CREATIVE ART CONTEST!!!🎨 on: September 15, 2025, 10:22:38 PM
Due to limited resources at my disposal this moment, I have no option but to go by simple design using my cell phone. However, I present two (dark and colored) map of Nigeria to i.) represent the present reality and ii.) the actual Nigeria we're clamouring for. The Bitcoin logo with a royal crown is outside of the Map since the Nigeria government is yet to recognise and establish cordial relationship with Bitcoin.

The citizens are not happy with the current situation surrounding the country. Hence, I use dark color here to express our displeasure with current reality.

This second image represents the Nigeria we all want. A bright and fruitful nation that gives all equal rights and sense of belonging.

Happy Independence in advance to all!
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2025/26 on: September 15, 2025, 05:18:05 PM
Barcelona played an incredible match, honestly I didn't expect such a high-performance team to score so many goals, Real Madrid definitely needs to be very careful, because if they really want to compete with them this year they need to understand that they need to work harder and that teamwork is fundamental.

Incredible performance indeed from Barcelona yesterday. Although, I believe majority of us bet on Barcelona to win but we never saw that scoreline coming. Scoring whole six goals against Valencia was never expected considering that Yamal who happened to be the wonder kid wasn't playing. Raphinha, Lopez and Lewandowski all registered their names in the score sheet with a brace. It was an entertaining game from every aspect. I just hope they'll continue to maintain the energy throughout the rest of the season to grab the Laliga title again.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2025/2026 on: September 15, 2025, 11:47:06 AM
From the player rating it indicates he performed very well, I would say one thing, if every goal keeper have a very good defense they would perform very well, I think that was what Onana was lacking at Manchester United. At his former team Manchester United Onana is bound to face at least over 5 shot per match which is very bad. If we could all recall, at inter Milan he had very little to do, the inter defense where doing a very good job at the back.

Are you guys still surprised to see Onana doing great in his new team? I'm not surprised to see his rating and in fact, I would be surprised if he failed to perform very well. From the recent records, we've seen many of Manchester United that left and turn things around in their new clubs.

We saw the same thing with Anthony, Sancho and Rashford as well. Before their departure to a new club, Manchester United and fans believed they were the problem but realised they were not after their departure but the problem persists. To put it straight, Onana is not the first in this regard and I'm happy for him because he was innocently blamed for Manchester united predicament during his stays at the club.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Phishing link of Uniswap on Google site. on: September 15, 2025, 11:22:31 AM
If I see anything like sponsor (which I know are as links), I skip it and scroll down to the official site that I want to visit.

This is because you're already experienced and likely to identify scam links. Let focus on newbies that knows nothing about fake or real websites but rely on everything that Google offers them. Majority of people that use Google for search emphasised on the first suggestion and unfortunately Google put the fake site at forefront just to make money overlooking users security.

Good recommendation, I also used Brave browser, the best solo browser I have used. I do stream football matches and I don't have any problems with the browser.

Brave browser? I use it to stream Manchester city and Manchester united match yesterday but it was completely off for me. I have used it before and it was interesting blocking unnecessary ads but to my surprise yesterday, it was filled with unnecessary ads just like other browsers. I don't know whether it requires subscription to blocked ads.
19  Economy / Economics / Re: Waste of values when you still holds your funds in fiat for long term. on: September 15, 2025, 10:53:02 AM
I hold my entire finances in Bitcoin, and when I really need emergency funds, I immediately convert them into fiat. Therefore I prefer to withdraw as needed, fiat can't be trusted if held for too long. The value of goods and services is constantly increasing, but when you store value in a specific asset, you can ensure a more secure return on your payments without worrying about its value.

And do you think this is the best solution? I don't think this make sense because you'll lose more coins when converting to fiat if the price is down at the time of conversion. I would rather store them in stable coins due to their low volatility and convert to fiat when necessary. Money itself are not meant to be saved, they're meant to be spend. If you intend to store fiat for a long time, be prepared for its devaluation.
