1  Economy / Economics / Re: US regulations could lead every crypto towards SEC listing - crackdown year! on: May 17, 2023, 02:00:20 PM
The whole world respects US on many fronts and will want to follow what they do, the crypto will not join this. Their regulation is moving in on it every day, it is a call for increased adoption of bitcoin, it will absolve many privacy issues and keep regulation blind. We should not forget that the US is not the owner of crypto, they can do what they like, crypto will increase in popularity and people will use it in many other countries.

Don't let this affect you, the CTFC, SEC and US legislature must do something that will be opposing the freeness we enjoy with crypto, it is good to go for the one that is decentralized and let your P2P be strict.
2  Economy / Economics / Re: Deposits-in the bank or in gold? on: May 15, 2023, 01:07:13 PM
How to save savings in inflation, there are many deposits provided by the bank, but banks often go bankrupt, does it make sense to buy gold? How is gold bought in a bank and interest is issued on it?
Putting money everywhere is risky, putting it in a bank or even buying gold as investment or crypto is risky but it is normal because you put your money in others hand to earn interest and earn, for me investing gold or crypto is the best option it is also risky but if you are lucky you can get a big return from the money you capital in buying it than putting it in a bank.
Yes the risk is everywhere, we should not be thinking of it as such to avoid stopping us from pursuing our goal. Money is made every day and the high mind of risk for investment will put investors into many gains. Those who will have their long term investment plan on gold and bitcoin can not lose in the end, the best of the two has not been seen, people will continue to pump their money. The two are therefore good for the reason that there will be time when money will be taken from gold to bitcoin and from bitcoin to gold. Some kind of adjustment in price favors may happen and will be shifting the price of the two. By possessing the two together, the risk will be less and profit will be made in the future for sure.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Effects of war on bitcoin on: May 15, 2023, 12:44:26 PM
Most of us believe that if there is a conflict, the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will plummet. But that is not true, because in 2020, there is a global pandemic that severely damages our economy, but what happened in Bitcoin that time? Price hikes have caused an abrupt surge in the market, indicating that there is a lot of demand. As you can see from the chart, it reaches an all-time high. As a result, I believe that if there is a war, it may be beneficial or detrimental to crypto.

War is different from the pandemic.  War can destroy infrastructure, pandemics do not.  So in case war erupts globally,  it is obvious that destruction will hinder communication.  when communication is down, it will be hard to do trades so possibly the Bitcoin market may come to a halt. With many lives lost and poverty due to war, it is obvious that Bitcoin will lose its demand since people will be prioritizing their basic needs for survival.  More or less Bitcoin market will be in a decline.
I agree that war is different from pandemic but both can cause economic crisis. If there's a war just like what happened in Ukraine, the internet connection is disrupted and it difficult for them to communicate. So institutions and banks will be having difficulty to trade if there's no internet connection and would affect the market price really hard that could lead to a massive down fall. But the thing is, there is no chance of having a war just like what happened before, in our history. That's why for me, anything that can cause economic crisis can be taken as an advantage for whales and institutions by buying an asset in a very discounted price before it goes up.

Internet connection is very important on cryptocurrency since we cannot do any transaction if connection is off. Knowing how big the effect of the war and for sure internet signals will take long to get fixed if your country will be totally destroyed by the war. For sure bitcoin's economy will face a hard condition since maybe this can create chain effect to other countries and they dump  to. But as said thus is temporary only and maybe other investors on different country will start to accumulate and even if there's no participation on a country affected by war bitcoin will still rise.
Internet as of this time is very important in cryptocurrencies because you can't do any actions with your funds if there's no internet access. However, there are practices already that you can do a transaction without internet connection, and that was tried on Bitcoin. One them are through SMS[1] and Radio Waves[2]. It may be tricky for now but I think we will become familiar with it in the future.

So without any of that all transaction will be on hold and no growth for cryptocurrency will happen at that time. But we are now living on modern ages and once the war is over for sure the infrastructure and other related to communication will be fix first. Government will make it as priority since internet and other signal towers for communication is important for their rehabilitation. Hard to execute that transaction without internet and provably bitcoin users will just wait for internet to comeback before doing any transactions.
The modern age will not stop war, it can delay it and war is happening daily, you can see it in Europe, Asia and Africa, it will not stop forever. The war that will affect bitcoin is what we have not seen, the war that can be so affecting will be the war that may involve America or NATO. Cryptocurrency will be affected and may go dark in that kind of war.

But it will not stand still as you think, the war will drive the price unless there is no power or internet to access it.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixing is NOT money laundering, per se on: May 15, 2023, 12:25:55 PM
Simply not true. I can agree to an extent that governments don't want you to use such tools, but it's plain dumb to believe you're being more spied when using them than otherwise. I agree you're a probable suspect for some, but you're a suspect for a reason; you do gain privacy. If I was being monitored more effectively, I wouldn't be a suspect. I am, because they very much work.
I took my time to think deeply about the mixing, money laundry, and the crime that could be committed via it but I realize that there is nothing different from what has been committed with fiat. The government knows too much about us, companies know too much about and these people are using their positions to sell our data and track us, this is from the fact that anyone could send assassins and thieves to you when they know what you are worth, getting your privacy through mixer is not a crime.

Let the crime be left for our individual action, no government, organization, or persons can claim that they are 100% clean even when they pretend to be. That is how I see mixers too, it's what we use them for that can judge us, and nothing has that power and integrity to completely condemn it.

By law, it is never illegal, what is the headache?
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Finding it hard to keep up with Crypto Economy? Read this . . . on: April 25, 2023, 05:48:05 PM
.
The article does suggest the use of bots for trading. Now I am not sure if the writer is a keen investor and trader or not, but bot is something I dislike all the time. Considering the fact that trading itself is majorly risky due to its volatility, it's always better to make with our own research, technical and fundamental aspects shall always be studied before investing.

But using bot does not in any way stop a trader from making personal research about the current market, as using a bot will only be an added advantage to assist such trader execute trades in his absence when requirements are met.
However, it seems you miss one of the most important key points for staying safe in crypto investment, which involves "Buying an amount of Bitcoin you can always afford to get at that moment & Never you take a loan just to invest in Bitcoin", hoping its price will skyrocket in either a day, week or months and then sell to repay loan & have some profit, which never works that way due to its volatile nature of cryptocurrencies.
Yes, what the quote means is suggestive not mandatory to be a must, it's a choice. Opportunities are many are with crypto, trading it is one of them and the most wonderful aspect that can make traders to get rich easily and much. The problem with it is that trading is hard and it can be deceiving one until all the money is lost. Finding the best knowledge and trading experience can lessen this risk. The risk is the reason for most to prefer the owning and holding, but it must rise to make any gain and can be tempting.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do with bitcoin? on: April 25, 2023, 05:39:03 PM
Hello guys!
Today I was thinking about Bitcoin and where it will finally go up. And I came to the conclusion that I don't really understand what is the right thing to do with Bitcoin after it will "go to the moon".

So I wanted to ask you all, what are you planing to do with bitcoin when it will go to 70k, 80k etc. Are you planing to sell it or you will keep holding it?
If you will sell it, at what price are you planning to do it?
Hard to tell what will I do if Bitcoin reaches its price of $70k or $80k because there might be times, I will let my holdings in my wallet just for a few moments even if it reaches its peak because I might not need it or I don't feel yet converting it. So I might just hold my Bitcoin for a moment, or I will make a target price of it on what price should I sell it depending on its movement or its charts.
What to use more money for should not be hard to tell, bitcoin will get to above $80k next year, you have to be planning for investment and what you will do with the money you make from it. My investment between now and next year on it will be around $30k, it is not small and when the money can be multiplied in 5 times, it will be good. I will buy land and fix a automobile factory that my dream has been calling for years.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Inflation may have driven me to this, bitcoin has the power to reverse it on: April 24, 2023, 11:15:54 AM
Considering my age, it gets me unhappy with the level of achievement I have so far. I am not the poorest person on earth, just the same way I am not the richest, I categorize myself as an averagely comfortable person. The financial empowerment is affecting me mentally, it is not enough. I checked the lives of old people in my line of work and also in other line of works and see how challenging it could be at the old ages. It can be more if the children of these people are not doing fine financially.

Thinking of the future ahead, I started making aggressive savings apart from my pension as far back as 15 years ago keeping my money in the bank and depriving myself of so much benefits. Regrettably inflation has ruined this money for me. When I think of the 15 years I saved the money, it makes me unhappy. Learning that bitcoin started in 2009 and could not make a cent from it is another recent source of sorrowful thought these days when I read online about success stories of bitcoin investors.

The recent reality makes me see it that investment is better than keeping money somewhere for a little interest. The story will not be like this having bitcoin bought over 10 years ago.

This is not going down with me, it is me that will not let it break me. Delay is not denial,  i must make money in bitcoin henceforth. It is making me aggressively learning how to make money through investments and bitcoin is my top choice for trading and holding.

Not so late for any newbie like me also, face inflation with bitcoin but be smart with it.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you want bitcoin to stay? on: April 24, 2023, 10:39:29 AM
Bitcoin should stay and will stay more than 100 years, there is nothing the government will do about it. The worse they will try to fight it but it will keep the privacy purpose it was been established to do. Government can not fight the bitcoin network, they do not have access to it, they can only let some people be afraid that they will sanction them at worse. This is where people will turn to the p2p and will continue in the decentralized mechanism.

The government will not try something so stupid about bitcoin, the reason is that many alternatives will be present in the future. The government's CBDC will be will be part of it.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Benefits of Bitcoins recent price drop on: April 24, 2023, 10:22:03 AM
The recent dropping in price of bitcoin is a blessing to those that missed it from the time it should have been bought. I made my analysis on maybe to buy my crypto this week, the analysis was made yesterday but the result states that waiting is better because of the neutral tone of the tradingview signal. The lower price of the crypto will make it be bought cheaper and is an opportunity for safe investors. But it can't go as low as $15k, when it is around $22k, I can buy it.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Maybe I should wait before owning my bitcoin on: April 23, 2023, 09:35:00 PM
My desperation after becoming plus one here to own my bitcoin has grew in a week. The first journey was to look for the best wallet to use and Electrum becomes my choice. The account has been opened and I wait impatiently for my salary to enter this week to buy the first set and keep it.

On the second thought, I checked the chart of bitcoin to know if it's safe to buy immediately. My trading experience is weak but not so bad that I can't read the chart. The chart shows bitcoin is still going down, that made me rush to tradingview advice to be sure. The monthly advice shows that I should wait.

The reading of Neutral has more vote of 10 than the Sell that has 6 and Buy that has 8.

I will let this be my guide, will wait till the Buy has the highest vote. Money investment need to be carefully planned. This is just my plan, you can advice or give it kudos.

11  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we now on Crypto bull run? on: April 23, 2023, 09:11:36 PM
I see that currently bitcoin is not showing signs of being bullish because the movement of bitcoin prices in the market is relatively unstable or running in place. Even bitcoin prices still have the potential to experience a decline from the current price.
You said this three days ago at which time the price of Bitcoin was on the rise, but you wouldn't know if you didn't look at the Bitcoin market at that time and now you can see for yourself how the price of Bitcoin is moving up and down in a matter of minutes. which is very good for Bitcoin and also the holders because it could be in the near future Bitcoin is around $30K.
Indeed it is possible if the bitcoin price has the potential to reach $30k. However, it seems that the price of $ 30k is difficult to reach at the end of April, especially now that the bitcoin price has fallen back to the $27k area after rising to the $ 28.7k area. Therefore, let's see in the future how bitcoin price movements will continue to rise or fall back from the current price.
I know the situation on checking the chart of bitcoin, no crypto will move so high as it did since January without finding a support at lower levels. The support may not be deeper but it will give the relieve for it to have stronger power to pump in case it still have the trend. The pump of bitcoin is getting better visibility, it may not test below $20k this year again. The time of the over-bearish condition was last year and it's gone.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help me in choosing wallet before I make mistake on: April 22, 2023, 08:51:26 PM
Thank you everyone for contributing and guiding me on this choice, it was a tough choice since yesterday through to today. I stressed my brain before I finally made my choice. I read through your advice and preferences and go through links provided by many and  I did my research online to get more clarity.

In the end, the winner is Electrum wallet. I trust not to regret this but will not buy in large scale at first.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is money ruling the world? on: April 22, 2023, 05:43:23 PM
Money is very powerful but it does not rule the world, it is the people that has the money in abundant that rules the world. Having money makes you powerful and your worries is 99% solved. It is the reason why people will do bad and good things due to the influence of it in environmental. You can't own anything without money and can't be served without it. This gives those that has it the power but the money itself doesn't have that power without being in the hands of others.
14  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoin can end poverty? In a nation today on: April 21, 2023, 02:01:38 PM
Money generally makes you live at best where you find yourself, you should picture bitcoin as money. The way it goes round can have a good implication in an economy but the economy must do what should to attract more of it. Be it bitcoin or real money, they could have impact in an economy since they worth a value. Except for the bitcoin decentralization that will not make it addable sometimes.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Help me in choosing wallet before I make mistake on: April 21, 2023, 01:38:34 PM
Scam is everywhere, I fear for my money. They say the person who ask for help does not make a mistake. I want to own my first Bitcoin next week when my monthly salary is paid but afraid of jumping on any wallet to avoid losing my money.

The popular choices I know and hear from people are Binance, Blockchain and Freewallet. Which one should I choose? I am just starting my bitcoin owning journey and it will be kind of the senior guys to show the way.

You can suggest better ones if there are any.
16  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: April 20, 2023, 05:10:04 PM
Interesting voting in the Duma. The RF seems to be doing so well and having so much success that from now on the citizens can be notified of them being mobilised by an "email" (short of) and, just in case, they are no longer allowed to remove or delete their account from the electronic system of the government (most have an account).

So... yes, they have played the "patriotic card", then the "good pay" card, then the "slave army" card, then the "pardon for criminals" card... and there it goes a new one "you cannot scape" card. Who knows, maybe even some of the people from Moscow and St Petersburg might be mobilised.

Needless to say that this is about the Kremlin psychos noticing that the Ukrainian offensive to recover their land may go as far as breaking the bridge to Crimea. Bad news is that modern warfare is not about throwing meat into the grinder. BTW, this is a recognition of "being at war" since, none of this can be legally done unless at war.

Yep, the deputies of the State Duma adopted in the third reading a law that they didn’t even read (they had less than an hour to get acquainted with the voluminous package of amendments). Grin

I think that in Russia in the foreseeable future there will be a second wave of partial mobilization, and for Ukraine this is bad news. There will be no peace talks, there is no one to negotiate with. Ukraine will suffer a military defeat.

So, somehow the fact that Putin had to mobilise more soldiers to launch into the meat grinder is "good news" for the RF? Oh well, you must be very sure that you will not be one of the lucky winners of the one-way ticket to the front.

The rest is just blah, blah... all wars end with peace talks and the RF is facing so many challenges that it may just have to stop whether Putin is happy with it or not. It is of no use to have another wave of soldiers if they do not have the means to fight in a modern war and have to keep on using WW II tactics and trench war for each meter of land.

I guess you missed leaked USA documents proving all you just said is false?

Leaked Documents Reveal Depth of U.S. Spy Efforts and Russia’s Military Struggles

Quote
The documents portray a battered Russian military that is struggling in its war in Ukraine and a military apparatus that is deeply compromised. They contain daily real-time warnings to American intelligence agencies on the timing of Moscow’s strikes and even its specific targets. Such intelligence has allowed the United States to pass on to Ukraine crucial information on how to defend itself.

Quote
One document reports the Russians have suffered 189,500 to 223,000 casualties, including up to 43,000 killed in action.

Quote
The leaked document says that as of February, Ukraine had suffered 124,500 to 131,000 casualties, with up to 17,500 killed in action.

Quote
Another entry discusses a report in February disseminated by Russia’s National Defense Command Center about the “decreased combat capability” of Russia’s forces in Eastern Ukraine.

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/08/us/politics/leaked-documents-russia-ukraine-war.html
This leak is serious, it may be true or not but definitely shows Russia is losing this war unless for the destruction that has been done inside Ukraine. Russia just killed those boys, girls, women and men like that in this heartless war that should have been avoided by a good hearted leader. Ukrainians did heroically and are better than Russians that are at the advantage to use drones and shelling techniques. The US and western allies will continue to support Ukraine and will not let the useless Putin win.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin as indestructible asset on: April 20, 2023, 04:40:00 PM
I did not expect what is seen lately with bitcoin, there is no choice anymore, I adopted it and should be adopted by those who believe in gradual aging and new world. Bitcoin created the road where other cryptocurrencies are passing and building all sorts of programs upon.

Can't it be destroyed?

I will not believe this, it can't be destroyed. I have some considerations.

1) Government: No power of supremacy can be abused here. The government doesn't have power over it because it is not controlled by any central authority. The selflessness of Satoshi Nakamoto made sure of this by not giving room for manipulations.

2) Hacking: Getting to know of many hacking stories of the past about bitcoin was confusing, but none is about the direct bitcoin network but websites and wallets housing it. Most of the websites hacked are custodial, I don't like them.

Not that it is completely impossible to hack the bitcoin network but the needed condition to do so seems impossible to meet. For the proof of work blockchain (PoW) like it, it will take the hacker a very high computing power to take half of the blockchains network before manipulation will be possible. No person or group of person and government can get to the arrangement because this computing power is widely spread.

3) Future: Bitcoin future keeps shining brighter, it came into the lead like a play, it will continue to grow in adoption. Considering the regulation, government will try more and will want to use alts against it but the truth and uncompromising decentralization of the cryptocurrency will speak for it and make it win.

It will get to a time in the future when bitcoin will be the only cryptocurrency the world can trust.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons why Bitcoin does not support NFTs as much as Ethereum. on: April 20, 2023, 03:23:37 PM
The extraction from what you write alone is enough to conclude that bitcoin is not like alts that can be manipulated into something else.

The complete decentralization of bitcoin is the short answer.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it advisable to invest on Solana? on: April 19, 2023, 01:42:36 PM
It's a big Yes. Solana is a decentralized crypto that has been functioning for 6 years and has a bright future with the blockchain used to operating it. I hear many people daily placing it as one of their top 4 crypto to buy for long term holding. I have some SOL myself. The market cap of roughly $9 billion dollars as of today is little compared to many cryptos. This strike my instinct that it has so many vacuum still left to be filled up. Reaching $250 in the near future can not be a too difficult achievement.
