There is no roadmap per se, since people seem to use positive news as their cue to dump. Instead we focus on steady progress and refinement of our developments so we can have a solid product without worrying about market price all the time.

Thanks for the remarkably thorough feedback! Myself and the KeyTrader dev are definitely reading over all these points for refinement. Please continue to submit any issues found - it will ultimately lead to a far better product for you all to use!

October 24, 2014

Hello KeyCoin Community,

At last, a new release of KeyTrader is available for testing! The team wanted to roll out a few other updates along with the program, but rather than delaying any longer we have decided to make KeyTrader available for download while the work continues.

KeyTrader v2 Downloads
Windows Version
Mac Version

0.2 BTC worth of KEY is required to operate the program, meaning fluctuations in value encourage KeyCoin trade and volume, rather than pulling a specified number of coins off the market permanently.

If at any point you encounter a NilObjectException error on startup, delete or rename the files "priv.txt" and "pub.txt" located in your Documents folder, then open KeyTrader again and re-enter your API keys. Please feel free to report any other bugs you encounter, as this is an ongoing process.

Development of automated trading functions is well under way and we look forward to delivering those features to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your support and patience!

My apologies then! A message went out to multiple members answering your questions but either I missed a reply or there was an error in delivery.

The last post contains the most up-to-date information, I promise I will let you guys know as soon as there's something else to report. Otherwise it just looks like I'm delaying by repeating the same things over and over.

Lol, no. The amount of untrue FUD in that post is staggering, especially considering how few posts there are.

VPS was rented from a 3rd party, perhaps it was used for another coin before.

loljosh has nothing to do with KeyCoin.

Waiting on KeyTrader dev to finish debugging, hopefully I can have it ready in the next few days. Any other questions? Roll Eyes

How's KeyOS? Is Dan still working on the team?

I understand that you want the whole community to stay updated, but I reply to certain things in PM and I don't post them on the thread because the information is incomplete or not relevant at the current time. You will see that I responded to this in your PM days ago, please don't bait me with questions I've already answered.

For the sake of this conversation, here is the response I sent you before:

Quote
Dan Metcalf is not currently working on KeyOS, he came on board to beef up the security of the OS. The team is definitely still in touch with him though, and we look to him for his expertise in such matters. I will be consulting him before pushing RC2 to the public.

pretty quiet here, updates?

Really? You've gotten more PM responses in the last few days than anyone else...please be patient.

brother whats your story major bag holder? how old are you kid?
are the pump team still around/supporting or did you get shafted like the rest of the fools and are to embarrased to quit??
I think the third question. and before you get all shitty with me. I aint no kid so watch yourself how you talk to me. I just cant stand false hope bullshit getting fed to kids/people with genuine hope in cryptos. this bullshit scam shit needs to stop or there will be no future in something that could  be good.
little nerdy fuks with no nuts need to step up and put your real name on this coin if your for real.
who the fuk is this DAN the hero were is he? exactly same place a Mindfux the greasy greek playing with Pr0ms arse

You need anger management. You immediately come out with name calling and accusations, then tell me to watch how I talk to you?

People like the coin, why should I be embarrassed? Feel free to make a coin and put your real name on it so some angry internet trolls can mouth off at you.

Bro im happy with my anger so need for management. which people like your coin the ones that have dumped it to less than 10000 sats? read my posts Brother I havent been afraid to be me but you are a scaredy little bitch playing on people Ive been straight up since i got into cryptos can you say the same?

what was your association with the Pr0m pump team?  im sure people would like to know? how much did they pay you to create this crap coin? you did get paid right? so after frauding everyone with pr0m your trying to be a good guy/kid bro your association with them will fuk you for life in crypto. noone will ever trust/beleive you which is why you hang on here go tell people of your involvement in this coin and noone will want anything to do with you.
No Asian brothers will invest in your coin only small time wannabe conartists like Pr0m. taking advantage of inexperienced traders will you have no shame? Mr wannabe Satoshi. I welcome the trolls

People like to rely on pump teams to drive prices up, but get upset if they're not involved because the price has gone down. We release features and news, and people dump their coins. I didn't get paid anything for this coin, but I have paid other people for their help out of my own pocket because I want to keep things moving and I can't do it by myself.

Don't assume you know a single thing about me. I am doing what I can, and your negativity doesn't help at all. If you don't want anything to do with this, feel free to leave. I don't like when the price is low any more than the next person, but I have no control over such things. Please keep the discussion civil from here on out.

Actually I just got caught up on a backlog of messages, sorry for the long silence.

We are still working on the same products as last time we updated you here. We are doing a full revamp of KeyTrader at the moment, but I am talking with the dev to maybe release an intermediate update for everyone to try in the meantime. I wish I could give a timeline on this, but each time the release seems to be complete and working for everyone else, I manage to break it somehow (that's my job).

The updated version of KeyTrader will be cross-platform, and will then be included as a tool inside KeyOS. We also hope to have a staking Android wallet available in the near future, coded by a community member from this thread.

It was also suggested by a few people that we join the SuperNet, so I am looking into how we can become a part of this. If any of you have additional information on that, it would be very helpful.

We are always open to suggestions for features and improvements, so feel free to send a message and I'll try to get back to you as quickly as I can. Thanks for your patience everyone, we are doing our best!

EDIT: I guess I was beaten to this post! Leaving it here anyway for additional information.

All of us involved in KEY are growing weary of you, friendfromnobody.

To those of you who sent PMs in the last few days, I saw them a little earlier today. I'll look into it and get back to you, thanks for the heads up.

Awesomeness!! Thanks so much. For my UEFI BIOS I have to press F2 then I press F8 to open boot menu. Then I click on the USB and it loads up. Got to say that the graphics are amazing! Yet I'm getting an error no matter if I load up KeyOS (Live) or KeyOS (with persistance).
The same error pops up:
"A fatal error occurred. KeyCoin can no longer continue safely and will quit.
Exception: St13runtime_error
CDB():can't open databasefile.error21
Keycoin is Runaway exception"

What am I doing wrong? Sorry for my noobness to such a system. I have very little computer science savvy-ness.
Any help appreciated.

And again. WOW!!! What an amazing system!! Thanks so much Dev's. Can't wait to learn more about it!

Assuming that you haven't transferred any coins to the KeyOS wallet yet...

-Open up terminal
-Type this command then hit enter:   rm -r ~/.KeyCoin
-Then type "KeyCoin" (without the quotes) and hit enter.  That will run the wallet for as long as the terminal is open.  I assume the wallet has some sort of auto-start thing set up, so if you don't get the same error as before I would just reboot back into KeyOS again and it should execute normally.

Then for the staking thing, I have no idea.  I'm yet to wrap my mind around PoS.

Terminal??  Where is that? I tried the "Run" option in the bottom left start menu. Typed the code in and nothing happened. Rebooted and same error.
 Sad

I just tried out KeyOS myself and got the same error.
So yeah to open terminal you click on the KeyCoin logo in the bottom left corner, then go to Accessories and click on LXTerminal
Then do:  mv .KeyCoin/KeyCoin.conf Desktop    (don't forget that dot in front of KeyCoin)
Then:    rm -r .KeyCoin
Then:   mkdir .KeyCoin && mv Desktop/KeyCoin.conf .KeyCoin
then close terminal, and double-click KeyCoin-qt on the desktop

That's a lot of code. I hope the Dev's get that fixed in RC2. This needs to be a plug-n-play feature system!

Thanks so much for all the help, yetiripper.
Got the wallet loaded, yet...

My next issue is that my internet won't seem to sync with the OS system? So my wallet-qt won't sync with blockchain. I've tried opening Firefox and Tor browser. No connection.
My internet connection on KEYOS bottom right screen indicator says that everything is good. What am I doing wrong? I've even tried switching from hardwired ethernet to wireless. No luck.

Back at it this morning. I guess I was wrong. All the coding you gave me only created the image for the qt wallet to click on. Yet I still get the same error above when I load up KeyOS. Some how this error is causing the OS system from allowing me to get internet connection. The OS says I'm connected but I can get the Wallet QT, Firefox, or Tor browser to connect to internet.

I did a search on "St13runtime" in the Ann Xcurrency thread. Looks like someone was having a similar issue but it didn't seem to get resolved.  Sad

Hi, just got home and took a shot at reproducing your issues. I don't think St13runtime_error is related to your network connection issues at all. For a temporary workaround, just click OK and allow the wallet to shut down, then open it from the Desktop shortcut again. The wallet should be able to open normally.

In VirtualBox on a Windows 7 64 Bit machine with a wired connection, I was able to connect using browsers and sync the KeyCoin wallet. Try to click on the network connection icon (2 vertical arrows) in the lower right corner of KeyOS, click Disconnect and wait for the notification to pop up. Then click the network connection icon again (should now appear as 2 computers) and select Wired connection 1, or whatever yours happens to display as.

The wallet may take some time to find active connections regardless, but hopefully this allows you to sync and access web content. Please let me know if any of these suggestions help!

KeyTrader provides an interface in different languages?

At the moment I believe the interface only has an English display, but I just sent this question to the head KeyTrader developer. I will let you know if that is possible for the current version in testing, or if it will have to be done in a later release.

What are the reasons such jumps in the price?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=741728.msg8784778#msg8784778

Take from this what you want, but I am no longer supporting Keycoin.

Im glad team supporters are finally starting to see the truth. nice one.

Well, all I can say is I was fortunate enough to come out with a bit of profit from all this without realizing what was going on the entire time (noob mistake).  I do have a conscience and wanted to warn others.  Hoping everyone still around is able to be more realistic and eventually find a good exit point with minimal loss.

I'm not sure why you're going on about this, the project is alive and well. I also have a conscience, which is why I haven't stopped working on this project at any point for more than a day. I'm glad you took profits, but a harbinger of doom is certainly not going to help other community members find a better exit price. This is what I don't understand about everyone who jumps on a thread with a vendetta against an individual or group. It seems they don't realize (or don't care) that your average investors are the ones who lose when FUD is spread, not the big fish who have probably planned far in advance.

Let me clarify, I am not saying your points are invalid or extreme. I understand your concern about market movers going from coin to coin, but at least acknowledge that this team has delivered products and technology - there is no vaporware here! Other than continuing to work and deliver, I'm not sure what else we can do to restore your confidence, but I'm willing to listen to your suggestions.

I knew there was some foul play involved here and the absence of any sort of activity from the 'devs' confirms it. These motherfuckers are all in it together. They create new coins, take tech used for coins that have already been pumped up and then miraculously deliver it in full working order for a brand new coin to pump n dump - leaving innocent folks who don't have inside knowledge out of pocket.

It's gonna take some serious convincing from the so called devs to prove otherwise.

We "so called devs" do have lives that require us to step away from computers sometimes. What foul play do you see here? The fact is that I have personally been working through bugs in KeyTrader with the dev who heads that portion of the project for at least a week. Before that, I personally worked on KeyOS for over a week, after the project had already been worked on by other team members for close to a month. I began working on OSX wallet issues in this thread with a community member, then followed up with him in PM to get additional relevant information. I took that information to other people to try to reproduce that issue, and came back to the community member with proposed solutions.

I'm sorry that you're not happy with the project, but please bring more evidence to the table if you wish to claim that there's a scam going on.

EDIT: Perhaps it would interest community members to know that I have paid two separate people for their assistance this week, both in KEY! Regardless of market price, it has enough value that people will accept it for their work, and that means a lot to me.

First of all, KeyCoin's anonymous solution was not taken from Cryptcoin. I don't have any contact with the developer of that anonymous technology (I don't think anybody does). I am not associated with Halcyon either, and have neither seen their code nor spoken with the developer.

Like I have mentioned before, the next upgrade to our technology that the community will see will probably be KeyTrader. We have been debugging for cross-platform use and are very happy with the progress of our internal tests. We are not in a race to release technology, we would rather have useful and reliable products. Nevertheless, we are still working, regardless of price or rumors.

Thank you for your past support, and good luck with your future investments.

Ok stakers, is it best to combine all your coins at once to a wallet and let them mature to stake, or does it really matter.  Is it best to leave the wallet open 24/7 for staking, or should you only try to stake when the weight is low.  I saw someone earlier say the difficulty for staking is based on the coin age, so you can't get away with that shit, but these are questions I often ponder.

For network security, 24x7 staking is best.

The amount of attention you'd need to pay to "game" the staking system probably outweighs any benefits you'd get by doing so. For the health of the network and speedy transactions, leaving your wallet open is best. If you are not able to do so, your staked rewards will start appearing when you open your wallet again, as long as your stake weight is sufficient.

Is keytrader out yet? I have the vm running but don see keytrader in the image.

Cheers,
Pit

We're currently doing lots of internal testing and debugging for the next build of KeyTrader (which will be cross-platform). We're trying our hardest to break it so the release is stable, then we'll go ahead and get it packaged into the KeyOS ISO.

I've also been working with a few community members to tackle an issue with OSX wallet downloads, and we have narrowed things down quite a bit. If anyone else has an issue with their OSX QT wallet, please post here! It would be great to try out a solution with another user.

I've been going around downloading a bunch of different coins' wallets for testing's sake and I'm finding that for me it's only the ones that are hosted on MEGA that have launch problems when downloaded through Safari.
That's what I've found mostly, but you did have to take some additional steps to get it working after downloading through Chrome as well, correct?

I'm running Mac 10.9.4.

It is quite common for Qt wallets to crash on 1st launch as they seek files not yet written but they usually work fine with subsequent starts. Same happened when I first started the wallet extracted from KeyCoin-Qt.zip but all seems to be in order now.

What troubles are being reported?

The issue that these users had is not the same one that you've mentioned. The trouble is that some OSX users cannot open their QT wallet at all if they have downloaded from MEGA via the Safari browser. I would say that this is the primary issue, but in one case an additional step was required even when using Chrome.

May I ask what browser you used to download the OSX wallet? It seems like an odd question, but I may have narrowed down part of the issue. There seems to be an problem with the way Safari handles the download and some permissions. If you used Safari, please backup your wallet.dat and download the file again using the Chrome browser.

Here are the steps I just ran through with another community member to solve the -10810 error on his system.

1) Download using Chrome
2) Unzip file
3) Instead of double-clicking to open, right click and select "open package contents"
4) Navigate to contents/macos - You will then see the terminal file for KeyCoin-QT
5) Click KeyCoin-QT and it should load via terminal

User infinitechaos found one more issue when following these directions, and added one additional step to solve it.

After that I relaunched it while holding down the Command button, which I've heard bypasses some permissions settings in OSX, and it launched up for me at last!

I am now able to just double-click the .app to open the wallet as well.

Thanks to everyone for helping with troubleshooting, it's always great to have real-world situations to work with. I will rehost the wallet on a different server soon, but would still like to do some additional testing to confirm that we have identified the primary issue.
