1  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / ShareBits.io on: November 16, 2015, 08:45:18 AM

4  Bitcoin / Project Development / 628Btc ePlug (Meshnet + Crypto + IoT) crowdfunding on Lighthouse LAUNCH Feb 17th on: February 11, 2015, 01:47:12 PM
We were going to use Kickstarter and IndieGogo for the crowdfunding, but they are not DE-centralized crowdfunding like Lighthouse, the whole theme of what we're trying to accomplish and promote.

The Blockchain Operating System (BOS) and crypto-income has been expanded a bit this week too. Details will be listed on the crowdfunding page on the 17th.

For now, I am posting updates to twitter, here:
http://twitter.com/kenCode_de

The ePlug is a tiny circuit board that resides inside of “ePlug Certified” electrical outlets and light switches. The four different models are open source hardware and software and offer options for Meshnet (no more ISP!), distributed computing (no more servers!), crypto-income, end-to-end data encryption, deadzone-free WiFi, Timer, USB ports, temperature, touch, light and motion sensors for safety and security and LED’s for notifications and night-lighting.

The ePlug Whitepaper details its technical specs: http://kenCode.de/projects

Lighthouse is brand spankin new so will need as much help as possible in this endeavor. Most people have never tried a DEcentralized platform, so this is gonna be tough. It's worth it tho because it will shake up the big boys in the space.

Please tweet or email me if you have any questions at all, thank you for your time Smiley

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Here's how you help your friend learn Bitcoin in about 15 minutes: on: February 05, 2015, 07:54:35 PM
This assumes of course that your friend has a smartphone and is curious about Bitcoin. Just say you wanna buy their lunch..... and show them how to pay the bill with Bitcoin.

  • Go to lunch; They drive, YOU buy
  • Go to the app store to download and install the Mycelium wallet (or your fave)
  • Send your friend enough bitcoin to pay for lunch
  • Show them how to pay the bill with their phone
  • Thank them for buying your lunch Wink

==============

  • When you get back home, show them how to do a backup, buy online, get more Bitcoin, work for Bitcoin, get a coinwidget or changetip address for their social pages (ie: kenCode.tip.me), etc.
  • Send your friend another couple bucks for the gas money
  • Next time, THEY buy for someone, and so on

==============

If we all start buying each other lunch, just think how many more businesses will come on board with Bitcoin! Smiley

6  Bitcoin / Project Development / Factom Linux - The World's first Blockchain Operating System (BOS) on: February 03, 2015, 12:47:44 PM
t's official, the ePlug (Meshnet + Crypto + Distributed Computing) will be using a Blockchain Operating System.

We love Debian, but the ePlug only needs a super-tiny, crypto-secured OS, one that is constantly penetration-testing itself and is self-healing. The IoT is very insecure right now and I want the ePlug to help fix that, one that cannot be controlled by any corporation or other malicious central entity...

I would like to gather your thoughts on this BOS project. I have written up a preliminary Whitepaper, along with some assistance on it from the Team at Factom. Please join us in the discussion on Reddit. Thank You! Smiley -ken

9  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I invented an ePlug that provides Meshnet with crypto income+ on: December 12, 2014, 04:43:02 PM
Even if every single person on the planet has an ePlug mining at (generously) 1000 hashes per second, you'd only get 7bil*1000=7Thash/sec. Juxtaposing this to the current 300000Thash/sec the whole planet cumulatively would earn a few dozen usd per day.
Now ya see why I say farming will become preferable to mining. I love bitcoin, but mining it is getting tougher and tougher. I'll just hold it as a store of value. Over 21,000 companies accept bitcoin now too so its propagation is coming along nicely. Distributed computing is the future, imo so the ePlug mining abilities is just a cross sell, probably at that point more important for businesses anyway. Home users could probably care less about mining. Farming income will surpass that of btc mining income so in turn, that will encourage more people to get an ePlug just for it's distributed computing abilities. Sneakily, this is expanding the meshnet at the same time.. I'd love it if nobody every had to pay an ISP for their restricted access ever again.
10  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I invented an ePlug that provides Meshnet with crypto income+ on: December 12, 2014, 09:28:10 AM
Do you plan to add a bitcoin hashing chip to ePlug?
Or if it will be programmable, will you also supply the code to flash the chip for bitcoin mining?
Good questions, thank you. I'm not totally sure yet on that first question because it will depend on the space we still have left after the mass production run is going and that can't even happen till the series a financing is secured, mid next year. Right now we can do it with off the shelf parts but until the series a, who knows. I think the farming of sys resources is more important that any mining abilities right now, so my plan is if we did have to dump something from the board to get it all to fit, or because of heat issues, then the mining would have to go. In the FAQ on startjoin I also mentioned that I will definitely be uploading every bit of code to gitchain, I want these to remain fully hackable, open source hw and sw. I'm pretty sure one of the big boys is going to get ahold of this too and try to close the source, not if I can help it tho, I want the ePlugs to be totally open. I want encrypted distributed systems, meshnet and decentralization propagated worldwide.
11  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I invented an ePlug that provides Meshnet with crypto income+ on: December 11, 2014, 05:59:24 PM
If mining is so miniscule, why mention it then in your project? Nobody's gonna do it.
Maybe I misunderstand something but what else does ePlug have to do with cryptocurrencies/blockchain?
the mining is a cross sell to everything else it can do. if the ePlug is sitting there doing nothing at all, sucking up the 1 watt of power then it may as well contribute to mining, that was my thoughts anyway. farming allows you to make cryypto as well, but by sharing the unused drive and system resources that you choose. i for example only use about 40% of my hard drive, so the other 60% could be shared with the network and the network pays you for contributing.

13  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I invented an ePlug that provides Meshnet with crypto income+ on: December 11, 2014, 04:55:00 PM
Does this plug connects to a btc mining pool?
yes, but the little bit of mining that it can do is nothing compared to the farming out of sys resources, that is where i really think the ePlugs can shine. distributed computing is everything, i think big data companies really don't have much of a choice anymore.
I've been posting almost daily updates on the startjoin faq page too. thank you for the comment @dansmith! Smiley

Updates: http://kenCode.de/projects and http://twitter.com/kenCode_de

From the Nov 28 Press Release:

MUNICH, GERMANY - NOVEMBER 28, 2014 -- ken Code announced today a prototype called "ePlug", a tiny internal circuit board for electrical outlets and light switches.

An ePlug at its core is a tiny printed circuit board (PCB) that connects its chips internally to any "ePlug Certified" light switch or electrical outlet and amongst other things provides the owner with free, decentralized internet access, a technology referred to as Meshnet.

Recent cryptographic and decentralization technologies have emerged such as Bitcoin and other Blockchain (Internet) based technologies. They proclaim to bring a "Web of Trust", reducing the need to rely on central authorities, Internet Service Providers and Content Delivery Networks.

Four different versions of the ePlug line are currently being refined. Models include @switch, @outlet, @bed and @outdoor all of which add or remove specific features based upon usage. All models are based on Open Source Software and Hardware and are fully customizable and programmable by the owner.

ken states that his vision for the ePlug line is "intended to proliferate free, decentralized internet and computing resources to every home and business on Earth", "cryptography can solve these issues of security and trust and Blockchain technologies are accomplishing that".

Temperature, motion and light sensors are embedded, providing fire, security, timer and LED lighting abilities as well. The ePlugs can also work with Nest and other leading "Internet of Things" platforms if the owner activates them. Other items that ken has addressed include the elimination of WiFi "deadzones" and a mass reduction of servers, big data centers and other centralized points of failure or snooping. Using less than 1 Watt, ePlugs can reduce global "phantom loads" (electrical devices that are left on, useless LED's, etc) too, helping to green the planet.

ken further states that "ePlugs can generate crypto-income for the owner, a process known as Farming" and: "the owner gains access to private, nearly unlimited global computing resources"

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / A Wallet that I can pair with the json file on OUR webserver on: November 03, 2014, 09:04:13 AM
Are there any Wallets that give you the option to pair that wallet with your own webserver instead of a third-party online wallet provider like blockchain.info?

For example, I just put up an ID json file (http://kencode.de/id/kenCode.json) and I'd like to be able to update the bitcoin.address attribute in real-time (nodejs/socket.io) and inform the Wallet too if someone on my website reserves that address to pay me. This way, and address can never get used more than once.

Are there any android wallets that can communicate with a json file yet?

Please and thanx for any assistance with this part Smiley

17  Bitcoin / Wallet software / HDM wallet that can push/pull the latest public cryptocoin address via socket.io on: November 02, 2014, 09:42:03 AM
Blockchain wallet, Mycelium, etc, I cannot find an HD Multisig wallet that:

  • Supports more than one cryptocurrency, and
  • Is secured on the phone with a pin (so opening the app requires auth), and
  • Is at least 4096R encrypted front and back (even in the local fs), and
  • Never uses the same public address more than once, and
  • Supports Multisignature addresses, and
  • Can transceive the latest public coin address to (and update) a json file on our nodejs server (or a blockchain/sidechain) via socket.io
  • -ie, see the "bitcoin.address" attrib in: http://kencode.de/id/kenCode.json

As we all know, our ID on the internet will be blockchain based, decentralized and distributed. This is good, it removes that control from google accounts, yahoo, m$, etc.

Everybody has a "wallet", even my grandpa. That wallet should host your id, or, be told where your ID json file resides, like in the link I posted above. If the ID file is hosted outside of the wallet itself, then socket.io will need to communicate with the users' wallet and get the latest coin address when the last address just got reserved for usage (a 10min window on each).

I am NOT a fan of exchanges or web-based wallets. I want full control over my ID, wallet and security, hence such stringent requirements in the list above. I can't even edit the json file that's out there right now (http://dns.dnschain.net/u/kencode), that's not good, ya know?

Can anybody please point me to a wallet that accomplishes this, or is at least working on it? I want to work very very closely with them and help out if possible.
Please and thank you for any direction on this one Smiley

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Syscoin a game changer? on: October 26, 2014, 03:14:09 PM
I'm in no way affiliated with these guys but [devil's advocate here] isn't OpenBazaar(.org) already doing this using the existing Blockchain and BTC? You maintain your own inventory thru JSON etc and the website just puts a pretty gui on it. Kinda like nameid does it with their json implementation.

#1 What does Syscoin offer that btc and blockchain 1.0 doesn't (or WON'T)?

So many Devs out there want to say they were the pioneer of something and that's awesome, but dude if we work together we can get decentralization and distributed systems into the mainstream a hell of a lot faster. Other than total anonymity, I think btc and the current blockchain have solved a hell of a lot and here's another 84 reasons why blockchain 1.0 works great:

I'm just sayin. Not lookin for a war with a Syscoin cheerleader. Sho-me-da-money as they say.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Preventing the exposure of public addresses on a website on: October 23, 2014, 03:06:32 PM
with point 2&5 many people use their own home computers or another remote server, that does the checking and then sends a 'payment sent' to the database on customer facing website server. plus updating the customer facing website database with fresh public keys, making the home/remote server the brains of the operation and the customer facing webserver. just a GUI input viewer
hmm, ok, so i setup a rasberry pi with bitcoind and it just sits there and polls my public webserver from a private ip. er? ok guys,  i'm brain farting on this whitelisting/polling/bitcoind part, which i have never used before.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Preventing the exposure of public addresses on a website on: October 23, 2014, 02:58:35 PM
1. ....do it (offline!) using bitaddress.org (see the "bulk" option).
+++++ will do.

2. Put the addresses (not the private keys) into a database on your web server. There should also be a column indicating whether or not the address has already been used. You probably also want a column indicating whether the payment has been received. I had a mysql table for all of this.
+++++ ok, i'll put the public addresses into a mongodb and add a couple fields for used and paid etc, maybe even a notes field, timestamp, etc.

3. Each time someone orders something, randomly choose an unused address. This can be done with some basic php/mysql interaction.
+++++ i'll do it in nodejs. i love your random idea here too!

4. Mark the address as used and display it to the buyer. This should be done over https so that it is not visible to third parties. This is the only time the address will be sent from you to the buyer.
+++++ yep, @franky1 is on to something there with the "<img src=randomname.jpg>" idea. how do we quickly show the qr and hopefully the "textual" address to the customer in a way that can't get snagged by google? there must be a form post first, which sends request to node or meteor or something, then that server side code generates the image server side with a random filename which then shows that image to the customer in a compiled file format such as jpeg or gif. a simple math problem instead of captchas would keep the bots out i think. hmmmf

5. Here's the final and most problematic step. You should check for when the payment is made (with n>=0 confirmations) and mark it as paid in the database at that point. Here's how *not* to do it: Call a third party site like blockchain.info. If you call a third party, then you've leaked the address. You chould have bitcoind running on your server, but to watch an address you have to have the private key in the wallet. It's a terrible idea to have wallets with private keys on a web server (which is a real shame). You can encrypt the wallet with an extremely high entropy password and it's probably safe, but I wouldn't recommend it. I'll tell you what I did: I rented a separate server that only ran bitcoind (no apache), put the wallet in question with a very high entropy password on that server. I whitelisted that my webserver could ask about payments to certain addresses. (Well, what I did was a little more complicated, but I'm trying to give the idea.) You could also secretly just wait half an hour and then assume the payment was made. The buyer will probably assume you are waiting for confirmations. That's the technically easiest solution. Smiley
+++++ as bitaddress states on their bulk wallet page, the "bitcoin payment notification service" will be tough too since you are querying over the wire a specific address, essentially broadcasting that it's yours. i'd like to avoid bitcoind. a web service or blockchain style decentralized email address might just be the way to get automated notifications. this has got to be DUMB. a lot of my customers are mom and pop shop folks who know nothing about tech. but, if they know that they have to wait until they get the "notification" in some way, then they won't ship anything out till they know for sure it was paid for. this is a tough one indeed... hmmmf

PS: I just saw your latest reply. I like money.
