1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How cold can you run an Antminer (STRESSTEST) on: February 04, 2015, 04:25:15 PM
So i guess this is my last post. Been a month with 0 issues...

I think I could run the S5 out there now if I want.

My next test will be heat tests in the summer. What's the max heat/humidity these things can handle

Thanks for watching and I hope my production gets  better, and I can provide some cool, new, interesting reviews for you guys

You look like you have similar weather over there.

I actually have DDWRT on a router running as a client bridge. It saved running a cable and works great for the Antminers. I can put 4 on it and connect to my router in my house .

I had to move the power cable two weeks ago as it was in the way and thus the reboot.

Other than that 14 days stable outsdie still

Nice. I find the cold helps.. -40 is a whole different world than -12 though Wink

when your car won't start after 6 hours if its not plugged in its not very fun sometimes. -12 isn't exactly summer either!

I'd love to see a picture of your "winter rig"

5  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How cold can you run an Antminer (STRESSTEST) on: January 13, 2015, 11:35:43 PM
HAHAHA.
I'm keeping my S5 inside. Plus I don't want to give you any extra paperwork Wink

It would be fun to put a few out there though. I could use the heat. lol

6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How cold can you run an Antminer (STRESSTEST) on: January 13, 2015, 11:13:12 PM
Guess no one wants to send me any miners to test out in the cold. haha

The worst part is our winter hasn't started yet. The snow on my yard will be higher than my vehicle by the end of winter.

It went up. I bought when it was cheaper.. the duty/brokerage was rough though. 130 CAD for 2 units

Very cool dart. Must have taken some work to set that up.

Next you could measure Wattage, and BTC value and graph profitability over time Smiley

Hahaha thank you very much!!!

If they send me a message I am more than willing to help. I'll make many videos, reviews, tutorials etc. (with much better quality)

At the same time I know companies don't succeed by giving products away, but I do have over 92k views on my channel so I can hope right?

Here is today's temp in Celsius. The "feels like" is with the wind chill.  S1 is still hashing away!

At least its going to be half decent for a few days before it gets much colder here

10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How cold can you run an Antminer (STRESSTEST) on: January 12, 2015, 01:47:31 PM
I hope they see this and agree. Ill run a few more breakers out there.  lol  I'll even clean it up and use the good cameras/mics for my videos. haha

or set up a 24 hour camera feed inside/outside so you can see how crappy it is out, temperature,  and miner status.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

If anyone wants to send me a miner I'll test it in the cold and let you know haha.   I can't afford to buy any more right now.

If you have a miner that doesn't like the cold take a rubber made container or something and put it over top to trap the heat..  Cut a hole for some ventilation.

Our summers get hot too. I'll maybe do another review when were +36c in the garage. Smiley

hit -38F last night.   still hashing away. I guess now it will be time... how long can it handle the extremes. Maybe i'll give an update in a month, or if it dies... These things are tanks though. I think it will be fine
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S3 mining trouble in -20C - any possible fixes (apart from heat) on: January 11, 2015, 12:30:35 AM
I JUST posted this. its about 3 threads down talking about how GOOD they work in cold weather

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN7HtmNOA5Y

I live in Canada.. and it gets cold. -20 -30C is fine.   we get to -40c/-40f here

THis is an S1 mind you.

Only thing is.. i powered it on quickly and had it mining right away....... maybe take them in. warm them up and try them? if they work fine take em one at a time and put them in their cold spot but power them on very fast.     once they are warm they will stay warm.

mine has been in a garage for almost 2 weeks now... its drafty and not sealed  -42c with the windchill here tonight. or -44f

14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How cold can you run an Antminer (STRESSTEST) on: January 10, 2015, 11:52:43 PM
I'll push it. haha. my s5 is my baby. this is just a toy

What do you mean by push it? try and over clock like a madman?

My friend an I bought the s1's at the same time (used) his was a start. this one got a TON of HW errors.. still within spec but was never an "overclocker"

Moving it out to the cold DRASTICALLY lowered the HW errors but it still throws quite a few... I suppose i can push it a bit harder to see what happens though. not like temps are going to give me any trouble Smiley

15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How cold can you run an Antminer (STRESSTEST) on: January 10, 2015, 07:14:28 PM
I don't want to freeze it haha

I would LOVE to have more in the garage. I cant afford it unfortunately.

I purchased an S5 but even though the S1 is running great I'll need to test it for a long time before I risk putting another out there.  If something were to happen I'd be pretty much out of mining at that point.

I do have a linksys router that's been out there Running DDWRT with the antenna CRANKED and its survived several summers and winters here as well.

Here's a video I have made of my Antminer out in the Canadian winter.

It will hit -40 for a few weeks usually. That is where Celsius and Fahrenheit sync up.

Last few weeks have been -25ish in the evenings and add wind  so converted that is -13 to -20F

If you have an older router load it with DDWRT      you can plug as many antminers into that router as there is ports.

Set up DDRWRT as a client bridge.... It will connect to your router. basically you could have a small farm run as far as the signal goes and not have to run a cable.

If the signal is good this works. if not you can increase the transmit signal on the router..

If I am too far I get drop outs but this is how I connect my S1 in the garage right now
18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My first review/post of an s5 on: January 10, 2015, 05:34:00 PM
I monitor my temps constantly. but thank you for the warning.

I have it running downstairs now so no need to change out the fan actually. temps are very low
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My first review/post of an s5 on: January 10, 2015, 03:08:59 PM
AMAZING! thanks for sharing my video

I'll make another one with better quality of the S5.. The more i use it the more I love it

I moved my S1 out into the garage..  It can handle a Canadian winter of -35C or -31F,  last night it actually hit -40f/-40c.

I'll take a video of that soon too.   fans are running as low as they can at 205 GH/s

Need any Canadian testers to see if an S5 will handle our cold winter in a garage? haha jk. Keeping this thing in the house for now though Smiley
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Bitmain Antminer S5 on: January 10, 2015, 02:58:55 PM
I think I'll maybe wait a few days if theres no change and i have no issues.

Its nice to see at least a change log to know what they did.

or if any new features are added

Someone could request an option to set fan speed or slow it down a slight bit.. My miner runs cool but that fan is so loud

Thanks for the reply though. following thread so i appreciate the updates
