I replaced the stock fans on them with ones from cooler-master that have twice the airflow rating ( https://amzn.to/2xvCzZh) [and 50mm M3 screws] and that's got them in line. The 550 PSU is now powering all 6 at 200mhz and putting out a combined 536 GH/s which is right in line (slightly better) than the predicted output. http://biggerdiapers.com/gek.jpgSo, you replaced the fans that come with R808 then added additional fans? Which direction do the fans blow? I guess I lucked out because the power brick and delivered fans are able to get me to 200Mhz just fine... getting around 80Gh-85Gh. I replaced the stock fans, yes. The air flows down through the fins of the heatsink. As does the larger fans I have on top super-charging the air-flow.

v2 sounds awesome, can't wait.

My thoughts after some time with these: Don' use power bricks. They can't properly power them. I bought the highest rated 12v 6a bricks and they weren't up to the task. Two burned out completely, and another kept putting the pod in zombie status. The ones connected to a PSU (EVGA Supernova 550) ran 20 days before needing a reboot. Of my six units, two were giving me issues with shutting off or inability to reach higher frequencies. I replaced the stock fans on them with ones from cooler-master that have twice the airflow rating ( https://amzn.to/2xvCzZh) [and 50mm M3 screws] and that's got them in line. One still doesn't want to go above 200mhz, but that one was giving me trouble from day one and Sidehack had agreed to take a look at it, but now that I've got it stable at 200, I'm fine with it. The 550 PSU is now powering all 6 at 200mhz and putting out a combined 536 GH/s which is right in line (slightly better) than the predicted output. As I live in the south and it is 109 here with the heat index, I have 2 140mm fans adding to the fan power and neither the noise nor heat are bothersome. Excuse the lack o cable management, was still fiddling with them this morning. They are mounted in a line to maximize airflow through the heatsink channels, and when it's really warm in my office I add a third 140 to the end to help push the warm air away from the pods. Bottom line: I love these pods, and they are perfect for summer mining in a small home farm. http://biggerdiapers.com/gek.jpg

What size are the screws holding the fans on? I need some longer ones for upgraded fans. Know the length I need, but not the M size

Well there it is. I'd bet your total hashrate stays about the same. That problem was looked at in the first few pages of this thread, I believe.
Wonder if it is only a Win10 driver issue. Moved three of them to an old Win7 laptop and they are averaging 105GH/s at 250mhz, while the one on the win10 is up to 88gh at 200.- - Update, after a reboot of the win10, all the devices are now at 100gh/s or better. Edit 2: All 5 now running on the Win7 Laptop and doing 100+ so issue is either win10 or the usb controllers on my desktop's motherboard. Perhaps it is due to modem boards only have one USB2 controller, as mine has mostly 3 and 3.1 controllers, and the laptop has two usb2 controllers on opposite ends of the mobo. Overall impression: These are incredible little miners! Got 5 hashing away hassle free no overnight zombie like the old antminer u series. Have bought 6 so far, one has an issue sidehack is going to fix for me when I send it back to him, but the other 5 are mint. Buying direct the price is great, and the service is unmatched. Next DIY project for me, I'm going to build a mount for 6 of the Miners, and take advantage of the heat sink design to create a air tunnel fan intake/exhaust setup to add extra cooling for the summer.

Well that makes even less sense.
Seems to be a weird diminishing returns issue somewhere in my set-up. Switched two of the pods to barrel plugs to take some heat of the PSU and saw no improvement. But if I run just TWO miners it jumps to 97gh average, but if I add more in (no matter how they are powered) they all drop hashrate by an average of 10gh per add-on
|
|
|
Why would that be good enough? 70GH is the expected hashrate for 160MHz.
Perhaps I need more power then? Using a 550w PSU for the set. at 160Mhz I am averaging about 58gh
|
|
|
I've got 4 of them running smooth at 225, anything higher and they reset, but averaging 70gh each at 225 is good enough for me.

Just ordered a 5-pack of these for some mini-mining fun. Don't want to spend the electricity money or deal with the heat of a big miner, so these are perfect to just has away for a few cents a day.
And they arrived already! 3 of them hashing away at 200mhz - truly was plug and play with the recommended build of cgminer. Last 2 are waiting on more usb cables. Using a 550w PSU I bought for a PC build that didn't happen; and a powered USB hub just to avoid any bottlenecks (Probably not a thing, but whatevs) The pods are smaller than I expected (about a 4 inch by 4 inch cube) which is nice. You could fit quite a few of these on a shelf/rack. Mine are on a bakers rack so there is airflow below the boards as well.

The only reason my feedback.
I understand completely! Sent Blazed the info, and asked HolyScott to chime in, but no responses yet.

Sent Blazed what I remember of the trade and the original transaction link, hope it helps.
Holyscott could also help verify the real me if he happens to see this as I bought several items from him so he knows my email, paypal account and bitcoin address.
In truth I am less concerned with my trust score than in making sure no one gets scammed in my name which is why I jumped in here the moment I knew what was going on.

The wallet I used here is not a desktop wallet, but a generated address from one of my mining accounts. It doesn't offer signing.
Sending a very small amount of coin back to it. If it helps I can send that to you to verify I control that address?
to me enough, if you prove that still control one of these address, even with sending some satoshi, but I do not think that will be enough to Theymos ,you not able recover account if hack occur again. 14DhXFztdmfYk2usnDd3G7wmGhRg5CHXkx 1EuyfphhfPhvWgofCr5P79mBx6JQaXvreT 1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX 1st Address is my miningrigrentals account. Can only withdraw to my wallet, not send out to other addresses. Second one I do not recognize as one of mine Old alt-coin address. 3rd Address belongs to a sidehack stick mining pool I participated in, but is not my address.

So seems My suspicions were confirmed. But still incomprehensible part with refund, as can be seen, scammer took btc and than gave back. Where is the business?
And @Ecnad if you already claimed that you real owner, can you sign with old staked address?
Not sure what you are asking me to do? My old bitcoin address is 1J1DbSdHpYWHz7Xb4PVQq3bRuNnosVoKQ8 but that has almost nothing in it as I have largely left the mining game and spent my coins on PC parts. This should be address Blazed paid for my iPad with as well.

My account was compromised over the last few days. I just got back online after a family visit and found a ton of notifications in my email. I have changed my account password, and am trying to stop people from completing trades with the scammer who was using my account until about an hour ago.
So you refunded him out of your own pocket? No the scammer issued the refund, likely to entice others he was sending messages to through PM. Bet he wishes he hadn't as I locked him out right after he sent it, lol. I would still be concerned about the source of his coins and paypal funds as there's obviously a reason why he is hijacking accounts rather than dealing fairly with folks

I Did not post this topic, my account was compromised. Password has been changed, do not send money/bitcoins to any addresses that were sent by "me" this week.
