Why would you want to stop mining?!?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Consolidated LTC mining using free instance of Amazon Web Services on: April 07, 2013, 02:52:11 AM
It's free Wink

...for a year.

"When does the AWS free usage tier expire?
The AWS free usage tier will expire 12 months from the date you sign up. When your free usage expires or if your application use exceeds the free usage tiers, you simply pay standard, pay-as-you-go service rates (see each service page for full pricing details). Restrictions apply; see offer terms for more details." - http://aws.amazon.com/free/faqs/

Interesting idea, but flawed.

This topic is still about cats.

Grumpy Cat is not amused with this thread!

I would recommend VirCurEx at https://vircurex.com/register?referral_id=520-842 . You can use it as a wallet or trade between different currencies. I find it a lot easier than maintaining six wallets for the cryptocurencies that I trade.

Also, anytime I try to manual payout, it says invalid signature when I copy the signature from above it.

You need to sign the message with your bitcoin client to verify that you are the owner of the address, not copy the message and paste into the box below.
8  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [30 GH/s Prop] Alex's Pool (pool.schaetter.us) on: March 12, 2012, 02:44:01 AM
Long story short, it looks like just about everyone has given up mining here, myself included.

I pointed miners here 24/7 and purchased shares from GPUMax. Between the loss of normal mining proceeds and the cost of shares at GPUMax, it doesn't make tons of sense paying for a VPS that has been inactive for over a month.

I'm open to discussion about different ways to encourage a sustainable hashrate and start finding blocks, but I honestly feel that it's time to cut my losses and wash my hands of this project. The community seems to be moving towards p2pool, DGM, and other hop-proof methods to prevent situations just like this one. We should leave proportional to the pros like Tycho. I mean, do we really need another dead prop pool like Bloody's?

I'd like to attempt to shake off any stench of A1 sauce by offering to pay PPS from my personal wallet for the shares that anyone wasted with me in this experiment. It could be a few days before I can get to the database and make manual payouts, but feel free to post your payout address if you wish to be paid publicly.

It was a fun experiment, albeit an expensive one, but it's about time to move on before the situation gets any more sour. Embarrassed

12  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: How does one set up a private pool? 3 BTC bounty for a TuT on: February 26, 2012, 12:36:36 AM
It's a huge pain in the ass to setup and maintain. I'd sell my pool for the 50 BTC that we have been working to find for 1825+ hours.
Sorry, there's no walkthrough, but setting up a public pool is a very involved process.

If you have some SQL and PHP background, you could use pushpool or poolserverj to setup mining. PM me if you are 100% serious, and I might be able to point you in the right direction.

I am more for a community repository type deal here. Put the data out there for the people and such. What pool would you be talking about, btw?

pool.schaetter.us

With myself and two friends, we found a block in 11 days. After that block, I opened up the beta to the public and we cannot find another now.

#1 Piece of advice - Don't open up a prop pool unless your miners are going to be online all the time.

That being said, I wouldn't open a PPS pool without a lot of capital to get it off the ground.

Any explanation for the downtime?
15  Other / Off-topic / Re: I little website help. on: January 30, 2012, 04:03:43 AM
Domain names are pretty much price fixed... If you really don't want to use Godaddy, I'd try NoIP, DynDns, Network Solutions, or any other registrar. Prices should be almost identical.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: backing up your image.. on: January 30, 2012, 03:56:08 AM
It's Win32 Img Writer (https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer) just in case you didn't follow Aaron Wolf's tut.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: backing up your image.. on: January 30, 2012, 03:54:22 AM
The tool that you used to image BAMT onto your flash drive also has a "read" function that will make an image for you.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Choose the Bit-Pay spokesmodel for Los Angeles on: January 27, 2012, 09:08:38 AM
But isn't she going to speak English in the video?

I can just imagine that sexy accent Tongue

However, I have an even better idea! Use both xD

@bit-pay: then it is an easy choice for me Smiley

Agreed!

If I had to pick just one though, I'd say Magda. I just wish her English was a little stronger.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: compile for my android on: January 19, 2012, 10:23:40 AM
Yeah... Sorry to crush your hopes, but even if you somehow managed to get this working, it would be a snail and you'd probably run a high risk of damaging your Xoom.
20  Bitcoin / Pools / [DEAD] Alex's Pool (pool.schaetter.us) on: January 19, 2012, 06:12:31 AM
Alex's Pool

I've been running a private pool for my friends and myself for the past two months. We have found our first block and are now accepting public beta registrations. The development of this pool will be very user driven, so feel free to join and send me your opinions, so we can build a great pool!

  • Proportional
  • 1% fee during beta
  • <1% stale
  • JSON pool stats
  • User stats on the way...
  • Anti-DOS
  • SSL encrypted

We're currently offering a 3 BTC bonus for the next block finder! Grin
