Impressive! Google Play store is a completely different story for me, it's way down the list when searching for "Telegram".
|
|
|
After watching a bunch of interviews with Jaron Lanier on Youtube, I'm even more hyped about the attention economy than before.
|
|
|
I mean how did Telegram start or any other popular messaging app, not many knew about it and certainly didn't search for it in the store.
It's quite possible that they did, because Durov has a huge following as the creator of VKontakte, effectively chased out of the position and out of Russia.

They said there'd be a major update this week. Hopefully will come today. Where did they say that, can't remember seing it. Atleast not in this forum. In the group chat for Beta testers, on Saturday.

Is this still being worked on? Seems to have died down. Any updates?

A few more minor issues:
1) After update, sync takes forever. For one user it stalled indefinitely.
2) For another user, once the sync ended, they couldn't see their balance in fiat, it was saying 1 BTC = 0 USD.
3) Same user couldn't change their currency settings "no results found".

I'm experiencing some bugs with the Bitcoin wallet recently.
1. When sending fiat amounts in Group Chat, it often tells me I don't have the funds, even when I clearly do. It allows me to send if I denominate in bits instead.
2. I am seeing some of my transactions twice in the wallet, and it's counting them twice for the balance.

Would you guys consider adding support for a Coinapult-based USD and/or EUR wallet? It seems to be the trend of having services which have fiat currency accounts but use Bitcoin in the background, even if that does add some costs. ChangeTip have found that people are pretty wary of Bitcoin due to volatility, but Bitcoin can be just an implementation detail the user doesn't have to know/care about.

I introduced GetGems to my brother recently, and strangely one of his recent transactions isn't showing up in the app. This is the address Gems told him to send to: He sent to that, and it's clear on the blockchain that the transaction went through: http://btc.blockr.io/address/info/1Korug3RmQy5fAMhgvqAY82tiTAMR92pTzHowever, all that shows up in his transaction history in GetGems is an earlier transaction. Can anyone help?

Awesome! Let's get back to the best part of GetGems - Making it HAPPEN! I hope things like this doesn't happen again. But we can never count on them trolls or a**hole*. Gotta have contingency plans! MORE NEWS!http://btcnews.jp/deep-dive-israel-the-bitcoin-startup-trend/not sure what it says. anybody care to translate? You do realize that procaiming "MORE NEWS!" and then linking to a story that has nothing to do with Gemz and that is written in Chinese such that even you don't know what is says is a little strange, right? It's Japanese, not Chinese, and the story features GetGems clearly in the conversation. You only have to do a CTRL+F for that.

Well Poloniex is CRAZY slow with coin transfers these days so I have a feeling it's an issue with them and not with Gemz.
I actually wish I had some spare cash lying around now. I could pick up gemz for a fraction of what I bought it at a week ago. Another life lesson.......save. I wouldn't worry about it, we're at the pre-pump and dump price now (I had a feeling that might have been going on). If you believe in the app, basically nothing has changed. We might even have gained a little out of it. Yeah, I was just freaking out a bit because I was thinking, oh shit, what if the dev's just up and left. But that makes no sense because the vc investors would never allow that.......I think. As far as pump and dumping goes, I am relatively new to the crypto scene, been around for a year or two. I see it happening alot. I guess it could be compared to a stock ipo. It is easy to get caught up in the excitement. When is gems rolling out the feature where commercial advertisers can contact users? I am currently between jobs, so with nothing else to do, clicking on their ads actually sounds like fun. I believe that follows the airdrop in terms of priority. I wouldn't expect it too soon personally. I don't think an exit scam is likely. Daniel has put his face and name all over the place for this app. He's also been really helpful and dedicated in terms of dealing with bugs that users are having here. Not typical of exit scammers, who would spend much more time trying to pump the coin. They would likely have to deal with a response from Coinbase, too, given the Julia bot. Remember that Israel is well ahead of the US in terms of time zone, the devs are likely all just sleeping.

Aside from that, it's in violation of the license given by Telegram.
And what are you basing this statement on exactly? https://telegram.org/appsEvery version of Telegram is licensed under GNU GPL. It requires that further changes must also be shared under the same open source license.

GetGems has sold itself on privacy, but the only way you can be secure in that is if the code itself can be reviewed for flaws by the public. It's also an app that people hold money in. In order to be secure in that, it needs to be possible to review. Closed source code has higher potential vulnerable to both external actors like the NSA (or Mossad, given that the team is based in Tel Aviv), hackers trying to steal your Bitcoin, and even exit scamming. The whole point of Bitcoin is to not have to trust external actors, there's no way I can recommend this as a Bitcoin wallet to my friends until I can be comfortable in it's privacy and security credentials.

Hello all,
So are we basically all sitting back and waiting (with our fingers crossed) for the app downloads to start growing exponentially, at which point advertisers will start buying up Gems and the price will moon? Do I have that about right?
I'm waiting on: Airdrop Open Source At that point I will start proselytizing it as much as I can, because I'll feel more confident about the privacy of an open source application. Also looking forward to with great excitement: attention economy features.

I know this was mentioned before, but I will mention it again.... I know that Gemz is a phone based currency, however it would be nice to at least have the option of being able to transfer coins to a desktop wallet. When Gemz goes to $1+ per coin, anyone with several tens of thousands of coins or more will want a super secure way to store them and I'm not sure people with that many coins will want to trust Bittrex or their phone. Other than that, this project is super exciting! Just joined yesterday and it seems I found this coin at the PERFECT time! You can also join us in the getgems group chat within the app, currently around 40 members, you can also join andoid beta testers or iOS beta testers. Just send me a message in the app. How do I add you as a contact? Is there an option to search for GetGems username?

I just watched your interview with CounterParty here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrMoRcXDTWYYou mentioned the possibility of buying and selling bitcoin within the app, but also having a shop within the app. Sorry to be frank, but the latter idea sounds really horrible, it could very easily bloat the app unnecessarily and remove focus. Buying GEMZ and BTC would be more than enough, and I would hope you'd focus on the 'attention economy' features long before trying anything like that.
