Pr isn't 'shut off,' thats fanatical blather. It has however slowly begun to mature and has moved to its own Github at:

https://github.com/Prototanium

It is also just about to get a few tweaks including additional nodes and the ability to merge mine. You all made it clear that Pr was superfluous and as such I don't have a lot of bandwidth for whining. Its not dead; Cryptopia's doing pool maintenance; Proto.uno had connections; Pr (like all my projects) works fine without needing daily babysitting.

Don't like me or my projects? Find another coin to shill.

Possibly time to start a new thread with the next release?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Offerings to Cthulhu - 1.4 is Here! Now accepted at Coinworks.info on: August 23, 2015, 12:41:59 AM
Thanks !

Few things noticed :

- nRPCPort = 11928; - this could be confusing as it was testnet port before
- Fellow Cultist tab is acutally Transgressions, address book tab is missing
- config file should be now named Offerings.conf
- new wallet/deamon can only connect to peers on port 20000, maybe this is caused by missing upnp (field is grayed)

Otherwise updated version is much faster, loads big wallets in a blink of an eye, and no leveldb errors so far! Smiley

It appears it cannot be mined either..

Much thanks for the feedback; will make a few changes to the ports and compile in the UPnP for the next build. RPCPORT= in the .conf should change it to whatever you'd prefer in the meantime!

I hate this coin inflation.

Prototanium, Fluxulentium, what comes next??  Embarrassed     Making the period system full up to 1000???

What is this?? Don't understand the plan behind! Making more different coins than people on earth? Keep it rare!

I follow the Uno history here from time to time. I think here is no easy way for old dev to get funding and he decide to fund himself kinda aka proto move. That was useless move i think. Obviously  people do not want to give uno just like that. And dev don't need to push it ,but he did it. It's kind a nasty move and non sense. If uno folk feel to tip let it tip with uno and do not push the situation. He made mistake i think and the result is no funding again only confusing people. And the price  go down. Gecko help to for the change here. Troll or honest he change the pink color with some more realistic one.
Get ready for more cheap uno. It can go very low which is excellent for new folks. Wink

Oh damn, you caught me--I was trying to screw you out of money with something you'd have to CHOOSE to use. People are always so quick to blather but not so quick to comprehend. Guess what, I don't profit from these coins at nearly any level--I'll go do something else, sorry for being such a time wasting scammer who's only goal is to detract from the first coin he produced so that he can not make any money doing it.  Roll Eyes

Thx!!

Offerings v1.6-Bokrug Core has been uploaded to Git. Graphical builds are 24-48 hours behind as the need for Qt work is at hand. This is not a hardfork version, but it does solidify the changes needed to drop out all Peers older than Hastur level (this build) and the changes required for an additional ritual in 300Kish blocks. v1.7 will hard fork the old peers out completely by requiring Core level code or better.

Still...

Be patient; Offerings Core is soon upon us--that will cut off peers older than the last release and hopefully put this to bed once and for all.

Try deleting peers.dat and re-opening the wallet, should synch at that point.

I don't understand how this is hard to understand in 2015. I guess nobody has used a coin's testnet. It's simply "fake" coins to play with for testing purposes. If you just want to play around with UNO but not spare your real coins, then you can test mine the testnet, send coins for testing without worry of losing your Unobtanium. If you don't want to play with test coins from the testnet blockchain, then do nothing with it.

Lol save the condescension. When someone releases a wallet for the masses, the only thing missing from making this 'fake' coin 'real', is being listed on any 'legit' exchange. What you said can be said about any coin, if you don't like it, don't look.

We can go into the whole debate on 'what is real' if you would like.

All Hag did was release another coin. It really has little to do with Uno aside from having the same stats and distro which sort of pulls away from the uniqueness of Uno.

Another perspective, playing devils advocate. What if for what ever reason Proto becomes worth more coin for coin than Uno. Is it any less 'real' now? It is not.

Is it cool to see how the chains will interact with each other? Sure. Could using one chain to back up the authenticity of another chain make all of this stuff that much more secure? I hope so. I really don't know what the possibilities are for Proto. I do have some ideas as to how it will impact Uno's valuation in the short term and none of them are really positive imho but i am a big boy and can cope with this stuff.

I certainly appreciate the work that people put forth and won't bitch any more about Proto.

Yes I'm not happy to. This prototype cloning chain must remain off the people hands it is for the DEVS only to build and experiment! Why to have option to downloaded Pr if I am not a dev. And don't  exchanged it ever please-there is uno for that! If I discover Uno just now and want to invest this kind cloning things will turn me off. THERE is only one chain- the unobtanium. No cloning chains pease. Shut this thing down man and keep it as 'training , experimenting' in the future. Just my direct opinion.

Its not another coin; last time I'm going to say it. Its a client that accesses the Un testnet without needing any command line switches and lets you send coins from one network to the other. I thought my original post was quite clear about this... It lets people re-mine Un if they want to--its not a secret, its not a hidden 'dev' only network; its been in the clients for a long time, but nearly no one has utilized it. I suppose you can argue that there's no real reason to access it and use it; but then I'd argue that there's no real reason to use ANY coins--they are all a choice thing.

Why didn't people use testnets very often? Because testnet is a hassle to use in many coins. But why would you want to? Because the coins are identical, the mining is the same (for proven coins that can mean another round of mining with exceptional properties), and because, why not? Its in there--so go for it! If you think about it--some services simply don't support testnet connections, and the difficulty of using testnet at times can be a way for one or two miners to quietly mine the entire network for themselves. I don't know if testnet coins will ever come in to fashion--but why should anyone care if want to mine them and make it easy for others to do the same?

If you don't like it, ignore it. If you want to use it, download and use it. It doesn't detract from Un because it doesn't take anything away from Un. I don't expect it to make it to an exchange anyway, its simply a "thing" you can do that's Un related, giving some easy mining and the ability for those of us who don't have a huge chunk of the Un coinbase to relive the hey-day of mining a coin we genuinely care about in a new fashion.

This is my last blurb about it, I'm not here to try and defend something that thought you'd all get a kick out of. I'm sorry it seems I'm trying to throw oil in the water, I'm really not.

Not a bad idea at all--this is nerd stuff after all, its meant to be played with.

If anyone else wants some Pr, message me, I have a couple more to swap--but they are now going for 1:100 Un to Pr ratio.

Also, if you're a long time Un person, PM me for a few free Pr--as IMZ is doing, I've set aside some of mine to share with Un fans!

No, they are one in the same chain. Look at the 'getpeerinfo' from one of the clients and you'll see Un-0.10.0 and Un-0.10.1 mixed in with the Pr-0.10.1 clients. They are separate clients, the same chain.

OK, I follow, so I was correct earlier - a new client for the Un testnet "branding" the coins as Prototanium?

So again its not a sidechain it is the testnet chain and has no actual relationship to the Un chain?

I guess you're right, sorry for wasting your time trying something new.

You didn't waste my time at all, I just wanted to be sure I correctly understood what I was looking at.

Ok good, I don't want to cause waves!

Can you expand on the bit in bold?

Do you mean you can send Pr coins to a Un client? and vice versa?

Yes, that's correct. Pr and Un/testnet are completely cross compatible.

You can't send Pr to an Un mainnet addy--they don't use the same leading bit in the address (u vs U) but from the Un testnet to the Pr mainnet and back again works perfectly!

Sorry to come off curtly--I'm not trying to dilute or take anything from Un, just give some new things to play with as Un development has moved slowly in my time away. Smiley

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: July 31, 2015, 07:39:11 PM
There is no point to proto, it is a nerd thing, which i am not part of, because i really don't care about it. In my mind the 'testnet' is just like a prototype of Uno, hence Proto in the name. So how does this add any value to Uno, it does not. It competes with Uno by being a clone of Uno, yet with no value. Now instead of people buying Uno they can split their funds between the two coins.

I try super hard to stay optimistic but this is nothing to anyone holding Uno hoping it doesn't lose value. For the nerds who wanna see what side chains are all about without risking their precious Uno, i guess it is a cool thing? Never a good thing to split brands. Like Uno for her and Uno for him now.

Really the only way Proto is tied to Uno is that it was the testnet or whatever. I don't get it. It shits all over my original Uno by being a clone of it.

Should i just sell my Uno now before the market cap is split in half between the two? I really really fail to see how this is a positive thing for Uno but am more than willing to keep an open mind if anyone thinks they can explain how Proto is a GOOD thing for Uno?

I'm afraid I agree.  I'm not even clear how this is a "sidechain" - I thought the point of sidechains was a defined relationship between chains with the ability to transfer directly between the two chains in a managed fashion and unless I'm mistaken this isn't possible?

Surely its is simply the Uno testnet with another client which brands the testnet coins differently?

Oh come on now, have some levity.

Yes, its simply a new client that uses the Un testnet chain as its main chain. You can send coins cross chains without issues. Its not designed to replace Un at all; its not shitting on your Un, it won't dethrone Un's position as a leading crypto-currency--its simply a new way to access the Testnet and enjoy mining again on a coin that's established. My post made this clear--or at least I thought it had.

Its not really not designed to do anything of the sort you 'doom and gloom' type think--just a way to use an established blockchain from an established coin in a new way and side-by-side with the original client. I'm not targeting anything else so please, if you don't like it, ignore it--its not anything deeper.

Like it or not, I think we're on the cusp of cryptocoin mass adoption and die off. The coins that will die off already are; the coins which will survive are those like Un that are merged and secure. As coins get more and more entrenched, why not mine some testnet sidechains of some of your favorites? Pr simply makes it easier for people to do so, and easier to build services and apps on as its got main-net features.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: July 31, 2015, 01:15:12 AM
As promised, here's something I've been toying with since seeing siameze's request for a testnet chunk of coins. Testnet has been live in Un since 0.9.5ish, but no one's used it much. I got to thinking that testnet coins for a coin that has a great following might also be fun to mine, since they have the exact same type of rewards structure. To that extent, I present:

Prototanium. Its like Un, because it is.

Web: http://proto.uno (not much there quite yet)
Block Explorer: http://proto.uno/crawler/
Faucet: http://proto.uno/faucet

Prototanium is a main-net storage vault that is 100% compatible with the Un testnet chain. It is based entirely on the 0.10.x branch of Unobtanium but supports synching and using the testnet chain of Un instead of its own blockchain!

Prototanium (prototype unobtanium) synchs the live Unobtanium testnet; this means its a way to utilize this valuable sidechain of Unobtanium directly and allow running wallets for both networks without command line switches. It also allows for pools, block explorers, and exchanges to interact with the Un sidechain without need for recompile.

The best part is, if you're using the Un testnet now; you can already send and receive Prototanium! Everything is compatible and linked between the networks. Prototanium will give you the option of using the Unobtanium/testnet3 directory on the first run--you don't need to, but you can if you're already using the Un testnet. You can also choose to install it in to Prototanium or any other directory--on *nix, the default is ~/.Prototanium to avoid issues with daemons already running on machines and to allow Un and Pr to be run together.

Mac: Coming soon, working out the kinks from the last run of Un still
Source: https://github.com/thegreatoldone/prototanium

Completely fairly launched because its been in the client for more than a year. As of current count, there are only about 35,000 blocks on the network and most of them I mined while working on this project. I have enough to share 5 1% chunks and will offer them for 10 Un each, that's a 1Un:250PR ratio; all proceeds will go towards further development and the conference in September. PM me if you're interested!

~edit, all my 1% chunks have been spoken for Smiley

Thank you to all for the assistance! We're taking Un places.

Speaking of...I have something special in the works for the Un community--something fancy that will bring back fond memories of yore and let us all have another go with our favorite crypto-coin. Can't say much more, but it will be exciting and I will announce it here before anywhere else!

Gimme a couple more days--I think what I'm working on hasn't been done with any other coin yet--should be awesomesauce Wink
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 23 Skidoo CHAO Information on: July 26, 2015, 08:28:53 PM
Skidoo has been upgraded to 0.9.3:

This is a pre-core build, download links are the same as the OP. Core version coming in a few weeks time, (0.11.x) based--the custom Qt bits take extra time in the later code base.
