nobody would seriously try this. Tongue It's highly dangerous not to mention the risk of infection.

. . . You would be able to fashion your own x-ray machine using parts from old microwaves.
Huh

This seems unlikely.

As I understand it, microwaves have a wavelength of between 1 millimeter and 1 meter (longer wavelength than visible light). x-rays have a wavelength between 10 nanometers and 0.01 nanometers (shorter than visible light).  Microwaves mostly tend to be absorbed by the body resulting in a build up of heat.  X-rays mostly tend to pass through a body allowing an image to be captured on a film placed on the opposite side (and not building up much heat). I doubt you could fashion an x-ray machine from a microwave anymore than you could cook your food with an x-ray machine.

More energy needed for the higher wavelength of x-rays. You can make x-rays in a similar fashion to how a microwave works. ie by smashing electrons against a metal target.
Just need to up the potential used in your accelerator.
Do this by altering the coil windings or using two transformers etc. Just make sure your rectifier can handle the voltage increase.

A cathode ray TV might make more sense actually since the voltages are already alot higher.

Think a microwave is only about 2000 volts. A TV might be like 20,000 v I guess. In fact TV's have leaded glass in their screen for this reason. It can be dodgy to turn up the voltage too high when adjusting things inside due to x-ray dangers.

Hiding your bitcoin internally would keep it from the man. A laser could be used to burn the code into your retina!

Cut a wound in your arm down to the bone and make notches on the bone instead of copper wire.
When the wound heals, these notches might be visible on an x-ray machine.
This might be a good option for an apocalypse. You would be able to fashion your own x-ray machine using parts from old microwaves.

I have watched the Keiser Report but it started sending me mental.
Thinking that the reality that I was educated on and brought up in turns out to be just a fairy tale version of reality.
Max keiser wants to watch out or he might get assassinated by the man if he gets too popular.

Though do main stream economists take him seriously?
Some stuff is over my head but if you watch enough and put it into context with the financial happenings reported elsewhere it makes you think WTF.

Cheers for that, Looks like I had better wait.

Maybe look for an alternative exchanger in the mean time in case it takes long for blockchain.info to get their act together.

Maybe I should look into getting another online wallet to hold/transfer bitcoins in as well.

Up until now my experience has always been pretty good with blockchain.info
Only problem I ever had was sometimes the currency displays would revert back to dollars after I had set it to pounds as well as certain small anomalies with the totaling of transaction history. Non of this seemed to affect the core functionality though.

"in order to mine coins you have to buy an expensive graphics card and spend hours and electricity money operating it"

We waste more energy and man-hours mining precious gemstones, they serve no function other than being pretty to look at.

At least now, the common man on the streets can get into the mining biz.

Heck, we spend probably use more energy transporting bottles water to parts of the world where there is no shortage of the stuff.
The world is a messed up truly whacky place to be alive. Long live bitcoin!

"    there is no reward for somebody who is intelligent: the only thing you need is just brutal computational force!  "

You need a little bit of intelligence to look into and analyze the benefit/cost and then the confidence to make the investment in hardware.

Hi, I would like to procure some bitcoins via pingit and blockchain.info.

But reading up there are people having problems with this.

Today is 2nd Jan, the world has not ended and alot of people are back at work and cracking on as normal with life. Am I safe to buy some bitcoins or will I lose my money?

I would post in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134074.20  , but I'm a newbie and cannot.

Should I try buying just a £10 worth of coins and then report back here if successful?
It would be better than losing £100 but I would still be gutted as hell:(

Hi,  I am requesting a whitelist so that I can leave feedback for the mercaBit.eu exchange service which I used this morning.

I have placed a post in the newbie thread here  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=15672.msg1266958#msg1266958

I will read the rules to find out if you are allowed to link to external sites but assume that Internal links to other threads are OK.

I will likely only post if I have something useful to say or need help that I cannot get from google-ing.
I will try to keep any posts I make on topic, in the relevant section and I do not intend to spam or troll the boards.

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi, I am new to bitcoin but have been doing some research.

I set up a wallet at blockchain and then earned £0.27 by filling in some online surveys and watching videos.

It was taking too long to earn bitcoins this way so I bought some from mercaBit.eu

The transaction went through smoothly this morning.

Been lurking on various forums to get a feel for how this works and also gained an interest in how international monetary and currency systems operate.
