1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Ripple XRP: 1 BTC per 20,000 XRP on: May 04, 2013, 11:54:57 AM
Damn ripple price is rising very fast. My 34k is sold for .7 btc last week.

Yes it must be rising for this guy to pay such high prices.  I am going to PM and try to sell some before the price drops on me.  It seems like a bubble at this point and I don't want to be the last one out.

3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Idea of Digital Trading Cards on: January 27, 2013, 04:25:04 AM
Funny, I was thinking of the same idea basically...
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134798.0

Little different on who the cards would be about ( they are forum members here haha)  but basic concept and wanted to figure out a way to autheticate them. If you want to team up let me know I can produce them both physically and digitally but don't know now to keep them authentic.
Yep, I came across your post while searching to see if the idea had been floated. It seems kind of related to my idea. Though, I'm still green to the concepts behind Bitcoin, but I was thinking of something similar to a separate blockchain to serve as an "ownership" chain.

As for teaming up, I have nothing to offer more than the idea of "wouldn't it be cool if ..." I don't have the technical skills to implement anything like this. Smiley

Gotcha, gotcha  Wink Great minds think a like! haha....  I know I was trying to think how to autheticate against the blockchain also one thing I had thought of was a qr code when scanned in linked back to the txt ID or bitcoin payment address of the user ...only thing is if you wanted to transfer ownership not sure how that takes place.

5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Idea of Digital Trading Cards on: January 27, 2013, 04:11:12 AM
Would it be feasible to create a kind of p2p digital trading card using some of the concepts from Bitcoin? I have been thinking about this, so I wanted some feedback. Here's what I have in mind.

Collectors collect, sell, or trade the "proof of ownership" to a digital asset which is stored in the network. Miners mine for the "right" to introduce new digital assets, or rather "proof of ownership," into the network. The idea would not amount to a currency, but it would serve more as a digital approach to the old concept of trading cards.

Of course, people could copy the digital asset itself, but the "ownership" would be limited.

So, what say you all? Dumb idea? Not feasible? Cool?

Funny, I was thinking of the same idea basically...

Im interested in participating in building the mentioned site, but for me to build it alone is impossible

Same...I have access to good domains and some resources but the "rating ladder" would need to be programmed I don't do that ...lol

Great suggestions!  Round corners could be a possiability ....man, Satoshi would be the Adam Bomb! wow what flashbacks:P

I am having problems thinking of how to authenticate digital cards  but physical cards by default of being physical are authenticated.

Also, if anyone knows a good graphic designer point me to them.

What would be the purpose of the cards?

Value, Collection, Promotion?

Hedge against inflation.

And each cared will come equipped with a paper USB file, offering up more information on the profile. The first talking trading cards.

Actually, you aren't to far off w/ what your saying there.

Then I'll guess again:

It does sort of look like that haha.... wait till you see the back Tongue

A villains set of people who to always avoid Wink

What happened if new members come along and become huge contributing members but still have low post costs, upgrade their cards over time?

Villain sets haha... XXX scammer set?  Beluga whatever his name is ha.... actually, your value plummets if you get the scammer tag....unless you are in the "special group"  - MNW...

New members can go up in value based on what they bring to the community its not soley on post count it was just one of many criteria that will be put into a formula. I'm debating whether to have that transparent or not. It's like either you trust me not to game it or trust others trying to game it themselves haha...

How many would you be printing of each? too many and they'll just be paper, too few and no one will ever get the full set...

Yes, I know what your saying there.  Try to find an balance where you don't want to flood it also.

All three. At least that would be the goal. Be a collectors item for sure - each item will be filled with information about each forum member history, etc., etc,

Hi all,

Hadn't had a chance to say hi yet but hi!  So I'm able to to create both a physical/in packs and digital asset of trading cards and in this case it would be of you guessed it you guys out there!  Tongue

I have a few rough sketch up's already done - but each card will have a QR code that uniquely ID's it as yours ( meaning the buyer of it )  - gives its current value etc., etc., . Obviously, the fewer that are in circulation the more valuable it becomes.  So you could have only a few runs on of say Phinnaeus Gage or go to some poor rookie but has potential such as x0Jakeyboy0x ( he is creating Oybee ) .

There could be even a legends pack that would have  Matthew N. Wright or Atlas or Bruce Wagner  yes I said it Tongue .

Anywho,  no money invested yet just the cranking of my brain so any brainstorming would be great ....you can flat out tell me dumb idea or whatever it's all good thanks!

I haven't even read the OP yet. Just the title of the thread, then quoted the OP, just to quickly say that I like the idea. Of course, the higher the post count, the more valuable, hence scarce the card would be. I'm just sayin'!  Wink

Hi! yes, that is exactly part of the "value criteria" actually the back of the card is your Forum profile Tongue lol  I'll have a sketch-up done tomorrow and will post here for critique and feedback.

edit: glad to hear you are blushing  Kiss haha.... you want to become the Hank Aaron of Bitcoins don't ya Tongue   -minus your skin color!

FWIW, I like how you think outside the box. Don't forget the sockpuppet set, for if I remember correctly there was this Nikki the Bitch character briefly appearing here. Search for her on this forum.

Once they become popular, perhaps some outfit like, I don't know, maybe Mt Gox can set up a trading exchange.  Roll Eyes

HAHA....  sockpuppet set Tongue    Wait, was Nikki the Bitch also aka PinkPony?   Mt.Gox  the magic gathering place haha ...its back !

I don't know why you used Java for this. A lot of people don't install it due to the hundreds of vulnarabilities that have been discovered in it. There are a bunch of flash-based chatrooms you could use instead.

Yes, was afraid that might be the case. I'll see what else to use and adjust accordingly thanks for the feedback Blazr.

Working on a php version . I'm thinking of giving bits of bitcoin for people who chat specially the newbs.
