1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEN] Horizen: Bringing Privacy To Life [EX ZenCash] on: August 30, 2018, 05:51:12 PM
Horizen (ZEN) Statement On Mining Algorithm

The Horizen team carefully evaluated the pros and cons of changing from the existing Equihash Proof of Work mining algorithm. This was caused by two events that happened close together in time. One was the double spend attack that was made against an exchange partner, and the other was the appearance of Equihash ASIC miners for sale to the public.
https://blog.zencash.com/horizen-zen-statement-on-mining-algorithm/?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=social&utm_content=mining&utm_campaign=mining+algo
At least, till now, it seems that ZenCash team (by now, it is Horizen team) have made smart decisions to change the algorithm.
Being ASIC-resistant is one of the most important things to maintain good ROI for miners and partially prevent terrible Replay Attacks, alongside with high required confirmations, Secure Nodes, Service nodes, etc.

Totally agree. We need more miners.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy Monero then Hold? on: April 14, 2018, 05:06:27 PM
Like as i follow news about monero ini this forum, i think monero is the best choice for investment. It's good privacy and most secure, also it's have good future. So if i have more capital, i think will choose monero. Wink
monero pretty good coin, but to invest all the funds in it, I would not recommend it. I keep only 10% of my bank in the monero.

I have Monero in my portfolio. It is small proportion, lower than Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin.

I got the bytes from the airdrop but didn't the the blackbytes, were they already distributed?

Black will be distribute a few days later.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 15, 2017, 12:47:04 PM
Anybody knows whats these black bytes are useful for?
Why cant we trade it in any exchange like GBYTE?

There is no use for them at the moment.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: March 20, 2017, 04:00:52 PM
I had many Ethereums before, in 2015, but I sold most of them and I am regretful now, my average sell price is 0.003 btc according to poloniex, I missed a 10x gain.

Sorry to hear that. If the bitcoin is in trouble, the Ethereum will rise further.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best GPU's For Mining? on: December 21, 2016, 11:35:55 AM
you can show this too :

https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/#/equipment

for me, the best choice is sapphire nitro rx470 8gb.
it's cheap, consume is very low.
with zcash gpuz and hwinfo show 70W, with eth 100W, with anorak's ps mod bios.

Sapphire is my primary go-to brand, but the Nitro is overpriced for the performance on mining.
 I just wish their blower-type RX 470 model wasn't a backplate design.

For mining, it is better to use the cheap brand and unvolt or under clock. It is not profitable without underclocking now.

That is right. If you pay high electricity price, it is better to undervolt.
7  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you hate about Bitcoin ? on: October 22, 2016, 04:32:02 PM
I love bitcoin but unfortunately i hate the transaction when it comes to receiving and sending/receiving bitcoin
Because it takes too long time before the transaction being confirm. I hope it will be fix soon.

I don't think there is anything to hate about that as if you add some extra fees then your transaction will get confirmed in very quick time, I have never faced any issue with that.

If eveybody add extra fees, there will be slow confirmation for everybody if the block size is not increased.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best GPU's For Mining? on: September 28, 2016, 06:10:57 PM
Don't bother. time for XMR mining was 2013.
Mine other coin and trade for XMR if you think it will raise further.
Good alternatives are LBRY (if Nvidia) or traditional ETH + 2nd coin combo if AMD

That is right. The mining difficulty for the Monero has also risen quite a lot recently. So it is not the most profitable.

The mining difficulty of Monero has dropped about 20% in the last 4 days. That is similar to the price drop.

The mining difficulty of the Etheruem is an all time high now. It increases with the increase of the Eth price.

The hashing power for the Ethereum dropped a little in the last few days. Where did not hash go?
9  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you hate about Bitcoin ? on: September 22, 2016, 06:40:24 AM
You don't hate slow transaction time? I wait painfully 1 confirmation sometimes. We need to have up to 1 hour for 1 confirmation. Miserable

When there are a few block time or 15 mins or more, the transaciton will be held up. It will frustrate us greatly.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: September 11, 2016, 08:06:58 AM
@mtnsaa. We will see. For me that strong support is the last for now. If that breaks I speculate that ETH will fall below 150k satoshis or lower. Maybe this is the first of the altcoin bear market starting again? I am seeing Dash is also falling down now.

I think you can't compare ETH to Dash really. 99% of altcoins are based on hype and potential and I'm sure we'll have plenty of rumors and progress updates on devcon 2 as I detailed plus the exposure to the chinese market. That's what I'm betting on, however the entry point is not clear to me (if only it was that easy!). I don't want to get greedy expecting prices below 150k...I don't think that's very probable in the short term unless there are some very bad news coming (alas EF being investigated by the FBI/SEC or any other dirty details about the hack).

For that scenario I do have some very low buys set close to 0.01 and well below, but I'm not convinced this would be a possibility. To me the DAO and the hard fork were devastating scenarios for ETH and look what happened. I was expecting prices to be around $1-4 bucks at some point...they never came and now the price has basically doubled to where it was before the DAO ICO started.

This means Ethereum, their supporters, devs and overall interest on its tech from investors and traders won't go away any time soon.

But is it not that ETH is also based on hype and promises at this point right now? There is no real world use case for Ethereum right now and all the value it is getting in its market cap is all from speculative investment. Not one company is using it to offer products and services that we could truly believe that matter to the ordinary person.

Exactly, to me Dash and many other cryptos are based on absolutely nothing, no real world usage (sorry if anyone gets offended). Similar to ETH in that sense yes, but trading and investment is all about psychology. I know Monero won't be used by anyone, the pump was based on hype, people really think dark markets (which they know nothing about) were gonna use it for everything and BTC was dead. I don't know if that will be the case, but currently I know there's no real usage either. You can see it dropping like a brick now people realize it.

Similar to ETH, in the next weeks investors and traders will get exposed to all these great projects coming, china exposure and upgrades (Raiden, Casper, etc). A new bubble will most likely start.

It's all hype (even BTC), you have to discern which hype is gonna move the masses and the money.

I think the DEVcon2 wil make a big difference to the ETH. I am not sure about the ETC.

The best gpu for scrypt mining is the Asus strix r7 370 4gb. This bad boy is power efficient. It draws 110w and gives you 15mh (17mh OC) of ethereum mining. Right now you can get them with a $30rebate brand new. https://www.amazon.com/Radeon-Overclocked-256-bit-DisplayPort-Graphics/dp/B00ZQ3QVJK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1471500653&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+strix+4gb&linkCode=ll1&tag=technology304304-20&linkId=15ea6672c1c998b748dfe71d0d8ab041

I have 5 of these gpu“s in my rig. To power my rig I chose Evga 1000w Gold with 6 pcie vga cables.

Very important to get a real good power supply.

It is better to use the RX 470 to mine the Ethereum. The price is lower than the 480 and has similar mining performance.

I heard that Eliovp has modified the RX 480 BIOS and can mine the Ethereum at over 31 MH/s. But he has not made one for 470 yet.

Some people has made some BIOS mod for the 470. It seems the 470 can achieve similar results as the 480.

there are modes for the 480x also which will give you more hashes if care fully done. the price difference matters after an extend!!!

Do you mean if both are mod to the maximum, the RX 480 is still better than the 470? If that is the case, I will buy the 480.

I think the only two things that i hate about bitcoins are slow confirmation and the price of bitcoin that is continue rising because i can't afford bitcoin now because it's too expensive for me lol.

Do not worry too much. If the confirmation time to too slow, there will be not much usage of bitcoin, the price will not rise too high.
Lol seems you do not need to fear it bitcoin has fluctuations so it is unlikely prices will always go up dude. there are times when the price of bitcoin will go down it is an exact science. so do not be afraid bitcoin prices will always go up? it is impossible? IMO
but for the time wait for confirmation I can not solve the problem

The volatility of the bitcoin is too high. If the volatility is less than 5% in a month, more people will use it.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: July 27, 2016, 11:44:48 AM
I'd have thought more shorts would've covered, but there's still way too many open. The Eth whales are in total control.

Opened a small one from 225 and close it at 215 after I saw BTC falling, glad I got out in time. I think shorting above $15 is safe if you leverage it well and are willing to hold but the loan rates have gone up obviously so that sucks.

I would probably be tempted to start shorting at 260-270. It also depends what BTC does. I now have no doubts that this is clear and HUGEEEE (imitates Trump) manipulation.

I would not touch ETH now, lucky are those who bought at the lower price, ETH back up on it's best price and that is good for the holders who does not dump when crisis happens.

This is great for ETH and maybe I will wait until another fall back will happen and try my luck for the very first time.

The Ethereum price dropped from 0.023 to 0.02 now. That is mainly due to the trading of the ETC.

That could be a good strategy. The Ehteruem price rose a quite a lot in the last few days. It might need some correction.

The ETH price dropped from 0.022 to 0.019 now. That is caused by the ETC listing. One of them might survive.

The ETC mining difficulty is too high at the moment, it is not too profitable to mine, and the price is too volatile.

From the http://cryptomining-blog.com/8054-performance-of-the-amd-radeon-rx-480-for-other-algorithms/
1070 is better.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best GPU's For Mining? on: June 29, 2016, 07:30:40 PM
so it seems that the new 470 is better than the 480? same bus but less consumption

It depends on what is the limiting factor. If the memory bus is very fast, you need the 480, if it is slow, you only need 470.

From the information from early miners of the 480 RX, the memory is the limiting factor, the core frequeny does not matter much.

Doing a mini-pump on ETH as it just surpassed ATH in dollar terms. Will be interesting to see where this one goes. ETH/USD is undeniably bullish, but ETH/BTC looks weak.

That is because the bitcoin price is rising too fast. Maybe it is good idea to buy Ethereum with bitcoin and sell later.

Both the bitcon and the Ethereum is rising fast. But with differerent speed. So it might be a good idea to trade both.

At the moment, the Ethereum is rising faster than the bitcoin. It is quite difficult to choose which one.

I m very happy about my ASUS  R9 280 x ( 4X ) , old generation, but still solid !

And Asus have 3 years warrantly, so i never have any problems with us... some fans bug, but asus changes my problems so fast.

Sapphire is good too, and i hate gigabyte Cheesy
How much you can earn daily with r9 x4? looks like this one one of a cheaper gpu to install.. and i am looking for the best mining rig..
Can you share your daily earnings With your 4 gpu..

4x 380x is about 80 MH/s, so it will earn about 0.8 Eth per day. But be careful, the difficulty is rising fast.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How will this change the world of mining?? GTX 1080 / 1070 on: May 21, 2016, 02:09:06 PM
polaris is expecting to be released next month, so still in time, but first wave of gpu would be expensive as usual

i would look at the new 470 it should consume something like 40w and hash at 15MH at least

I would prefer the high end ones. You can have more hash per rig and that will reduce the cost of the system overheads.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How will this change the world of mining?? GTX 1080 / 1070 on: May 08, 2016, 10:49:30 AM
The memory bandwidth does not increase, it is still 256bit for 1070. So even if the Core clock increase, it might not be faster.
