1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: September 25, 2018, 07:41:55 AM
I'm holding both bitcoin and ethereum but I think I will not transfer all my bitcoins to ETH.  Although ETH is low compared to 2017 and it is growing quite well.  Every altcoin is dependent on the movement of the bitcoin.  I think the investment in bitcoin is the safest.

that could be a good move. Will you transfer some to BCH, which is similar to BTC?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: May 24, 2018, 06:35:49 AM
corsair.com has a  sale    MEMORIAL2018   is discount code on all refurbished goods.

So the 1500 watt titanium ax1500i  refurb  is 350 -20% =  280  pretty good price

the rm1000x refurb is 140 - 28 = 112 good price for a 1000 watt gold psu.

I go9t this item

Flash Voyager® GTX USB 3.0 256GB Flash Drive (Refurbished)
CMFVYGTX3-256GB/RF
In Stock
Extra 20% Off Certified Refurbished!

https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Flash-Voyager-256GB-CMFVYGTX3-256GB/dp/B00LJWSHT4/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

it is fast and pretty good price for a 256gb stick that is basically an ssd.
cant pay me to buy a refurb psu, 1 in 5 regular 5 year warranty psus will die wit continuous mining use i have found in 2 - 4 years on average, brand doesn’t matter, rossville quarks, evga platinums, xfx plats etc etc

u have 10 psu sitting here waiting for waranty returns along with 30 amd gpus lol

waranties matter folks, a refurb waranty is 1 year, just enough time for it to die and leave u stuck with a brick

theres a reason why most platinum psu vendors offer 5 to 10 year waranties

I bought three refurbished Corsai PSU 1200AXI, two died just after a year. The warranty was one year.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETHEREUM WILL WORTH $10000 on: February 02, 2018, 06:21:54 PM
Anything is possible specially in the crypto market but i think it ia highly unlikely. I am positive that ethereum price trend will continue but up to $10k is a little bit ambitious.

That is right. If the ETH is $10k and the Bitcoin is also $10k, the bitcoin is 5 times larger than the bitcoin.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If you had 15 Ether, where would you invest for the long term Today on: November 08, 2017, 02:57:02 PM
My personal strategy is to hold 5-6 of the more well-known, long established coins like ETH, Dash, Zcash, Monero, BTC, and LTC.

Beyond that I'm only investing in projects where I know someone personally, or where I see that the token is not simply grafted onto a shit business plan. Especially if the token has value sources that are relatively stable, I will consider holding it.

That is right. Distribute the funds into the top mineable coins such as Bitcoin Cash, ETH etc.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best Software for Remote Access to Mining Rigs on: September 06, 2017, 06:12:15 PM
Here i use teamview +  arduino with relays bord to restart or turn on/off my rigs.

I just use teamview, it is working well.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: February 25, 2017, 08:39:36 AM
i think ethereum can become an investment option once again soon.
it has started to show some signs of accumulation and small rises, and i believe since there has been some time when the dumping had begun, it is the time for a pump to come and  a big pump for that matter.
Bitcoin is in a good shape now which is not good news to any alt because much of the money that could be use to create pumps on the altcoins market now it is tied to bitcoin.

Not really. Once BTC reaches a high, people look to book profits.
They may convert their bitcoins to fiat or other alts as well. This could benefit the altcoin market as a whole.

That happened in 2013 and 2014.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: January 06, 2017, 10:28:31 AM
With the recent pump and then the dump of bitcoin price it was the perfect chance to invest in ethereum (if we knew it).

Because the eth/btc exchange rate was low and now it is high which makes the traders accumulate more bitcoin than before.

That is a good idea. The Ethereum price is rising.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum+Decred/Siacoin GPU Miner v5.0 (Windows/Linux) on: December 21, 2016, 03:45:20 PM
v5.0 Beta:

- added new coin for dual mode: Siacoin. Now you can mine Ethereum, Ethereum+Decred or Ethereum+Siacoin.
- added "-dcoin" option to select a coin for dual mode.
- added "-allcoins exp" option value that allows you to mine Expanse and don't recreate DAG for devfee mining.
- added Decred support for Nicehash pool.
- default "-dcrt" option value is "5" now.
- improved detection of bad pool state: miner will disconnect if pool rejected more than a half of last 10 shares.
- "s" key: now miner also shows current difficulty so you can calculate how long it will take to find a share or a block.
- bug fixes.

@Claymore, have you ever considered DMD coin (Edit: or other Groestl coin) for dual mining? Because as far I can see the two algos did not interfere a lot IMHO. It is quite profitable from time to time (http://whattomine.com/coins) and has POS w/ 25% interest annually until 2018 also. Wink
P.S.: I am not affiliated with it.

He is too busy on the ZEC miner.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: December 20, 2016, 08:57:01 AM
Interesting pattern emerging with ETC. If it's pumped up further it could start a positive feedback loop with ETH and cause another dump.

ETC is just a pump and dump coin at present. It needs to do more to be a proper coin.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: November 26, 2016, 11:04:30 AM
I'm building 2 rigs i bought 6 rx 470's for my first rig should i buy r9 390's for my second rig ? Less used r9 390 second hands with warranty cost like 255-265 dollar in here(these cards used 2 month without oc) and rx 470's cost me 235 dollar. Any tips ?

If your electricity cost is more than 0.15 to 0.2 dollar/kWh, it is better to buy the RX 470 or 480. Otherwise, buy the 390.

My electricity cost nearly 0.12 dollar/kWh Thanks for tips mate Smiley

The R9 390 is a high end card with 512bit memory bandwidth and 2560 core processor. It is good for computation.

Genoil’s ZEC Miner

Genoil13h
With the Silent Army just marching in, I figured it was pointless to submit for the open source contest, as well as putting a devfee on anything that's just about as fast as what nicehash are publishing very soon. And besides, my fame in crypto land was partially made by actually publishing Windows binaries in an easy to find place so I though let's continue like that.

github.com 1.2k

Genoil/ZECMiner

ZECMiner - ZCash AMD OpenCL stratum miner for Windows

There are several reasons why I don't publish the source of this. One of them is that I want to save you the pain of having to go through this awful junk. Another one is that I have evil plans with this junk. And finally I got John's CUDA solvers without any license stuck onto them a few weeks back, so I have no idea what he wants me to do with it.

All I know is that this works on suprnova with at least Hawaii (390X @20), Ellesmere (470 @14) and Fiji (Fury@23) (very approximate numbers there), so I hope it does for you too! Feedback and suggestions are very much appreciated!

Have fun!
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: October 20, 2016, 05:37:00 PM
This now is very imposinle is ethereum can move take over and replace bitcoin
all crypto coin and altcoin still need bitcoin to excahage in fiat money
all altcoin not run without bitcoin
maybe 5 year ago etherum can replace position bitcoin

Bitcoin and the Ethereum has different usage. The bitcoin is a kind of currency and the Etheruem is a fuel.
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: will sel bitcoin on: September 29, 2016, 06:39:53 AM
i think it is not such a difficult job you can do it very simply, you can exchange bitcoin into your local currency in exchange and then can also buy bitcoin if you feel that it is the good time to do so.
Yes , but it has a risk behind them . Especially you sell it in online sites , who knows you would be get scammed or it's just fake sites to stealing your money . But , as long as you sell it in the right place and has a good reputation you should be fine .

In online ever where you can find scammers so when you want to buy or sell something always should go with reputed sites even though they may charge a slightly higher fee for the transaction. You can find trusted sites list on this forum to trade. Don't ever trade on any new sites just to avoid transaction fees.

If you want to trade the bitcoin, it is better to go to the top 10 exchanges. They are much safer than smaller ones.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: September 22, 2016, 05:40:27 PM
I don't know the altcoin market as much as you guys but I keep following btc and altcoins from coincap.io and ETH market cap is rising everyday. So, it's always better strategy invest a little to ETH and forget it. Who knows maybe one day, 1 ETH will worth $600 too Grin

The Ehtereum price just dropped about 6% in the last 24 hours. That is due to the finish of the meeting in China.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v7.0 (Windows/Linux) on: September 11, 2016, 08:44:32 AM
Claymore, will you be looking at zcash - equihash to see if you can put out a GPU miner?

I second that. I think it is very important for the smaller miners to have access to a good miner in the early stage.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: August 27, 2016, 04:52:34 PM
By doing that, the hacker does not have to sell the stolen funds and still make a lot of money. That could be the reason for the ETC price drop.

Exactly, margin trading is where the real money laundering happens.

That is my main concerning about owning the ETC. The ETC can just be a cash machine for the hacker.
So the price will not rise much in the future.

But the hacker and his friends like that. He can make a lot of money out of it. Maybe more than $10 million.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: August 10, 2016, 03:39:03 PM
I've divested from ETC for now with an avg buy roughly at 150 avg sell 460. Actually back into ETH. Why?

ETC will need to deal with Coinbase and Bitfinex getting their coins as well as the attacker in three weeks. Finex and Coinbase users are likely moving to Poloniex and the sell walls there are already quite big. So I believe I'll have an reentry on ETC much lower. Should this occur ETH should increase in price.

So ye that's the strat

Would also add to this as Chris Ellis pointed out, this thing with the Dao has probably set back smart contract technology and ETH development by 6 months. That said I am not sure if investing in ETC is prudent for the industry as it is a lot of drama surrounding ETH and ETC when attention should be on building things. I have very conflicting thoughts about this.

That is right. Without the DAO hack, the Slock DAO will be historic. It will attract more attentions from business.

With the DAO hack, more people will hear about the Ethereum, that could be a publicity so the price will rise again.

Even though that is a bad publicity, that is still a publicity and attract some people to buy some Ethereum.

Since the DAO hack, there are more mainstream media report about the Ethrerum. The trading volume is also high.

So to some extent, the DAO hack is good for the publicity of the Ethereum. But I do not like any more hacks.

That hack gave people the feeling that the Ethereum is not safe, although it is one of the applications of Ethereum.

That hack set back the adoption of the Ethereum by several months. So did the revival of the ETC.

However, ordinary investors will forget about the hack if the Ethereum price rises in the next few months.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: July 27, 2016, 05:25:37 PM
I'd have thought more shorts would've covered, but there's still way too many open. The Eth whales are in total control.

Opened a small one from 225 and close it at 215 after I saw BTC falling, glad I got out in time. I think shorting above $15 is safe if you leverage it well and are willing to hold but the loan rates have gone up obviously so that sucks.

I would probably be tempted to start shorting at 260-270. It also depends what BTC does. I now have no doubts that this is clear and HUGEEEE (imitates Trump) manipulation.

I would not touch ETH now, lucky are those who bought at the lower price, ETH back up on it's best price and that is good for the holders who does not dump when crisis happens.

This is great for ETH and maybe I will wait until another fall back will happen and try my luck for the very first time.

The Ethereum price dropped from 0.023 to 0.02 now. That is mainly due to the trading of the ETC.

That could be a good strategy. The Ehteruem price rose a quite a lot in the last few days. It might need some correction.

The ETH price dropped from 0.022 to 0.019 now. That is caused by the ETC listing. One of them might survive.

The ETC mining difficulty is too high at the moment, it is not too profitable to mine, and the price is too volatile.

The difficulty is dropping now. That is mainly driven by the price drop. Miner will not mine it if it is not more profitable.

lawsuits can be directed at vitalik, how does one sue the ceo of bitcoin?

Developer Claims Ethereum is Stolen Intellectual Property, Files Complaints with FBI

I think that guy should sue the Ethereum and then we will know if he has any basis to do that kind of thing.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum+Decred GPU Miner v4.7 (Windows/Linux) on: June 30, 2016, 10:05:20 AM
Once the AIB partners come out with their own PCB design with possibly 2 6pin or 1 8pin connector, the PCie power issue should go away. That would also allow the card to be overclocked closer to the 1500mhz mark, which in theory should push up the hashrate, making this a decent mining card.

Of course, those running 390s or 390xs shouldn't feel inclined to buy the RX 480s.

If the RX 470s clock 2-3 below the 480, that could be the better card for mining with a 110W TDP.

Cheers

From what I can see, the 480 is able to provide almost the same hashrate at half the power?
I think they should update asap Tongue

Compared to 380x, it might use 70% of the power and provide the same hash at the same memory frequency.
