So in other words gridcoin is doomed because someone somewhere (in a chat I guess because I didn't see anything on reddit or steemit or any other website) had some kind of a discussion about cannabis. What kind of bullshit is this?
The fud on gridcoin is getting more retarded each passing day.
As usual, FUD creates more FUD. That crap is contagious like a yeast infection. It started with a superblock, now it's cannabis, tomorrow we'll have a thought-crime. Always the same slippery slope.

Hey can I get a bit of advice, I'm pool mining and currently working on the Collatz Conjecture project. The last project I contributed for (and this was a while ago 6+ months) would submit a project package every 10mins or so, but I'm getting an estimated time of 4 days! Does that seem right? I'm with grcpool.com and hashing with a 970. Also I'm using my CPU for NFS@Home and the package time there is 50mins x3, on an i5 3340. So I'm just worried I've set myself up wrong with GPU hashing.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 should be a fine GPU for crunching Collatz. Still, I am not sure what the problem is - estimated runtime is 4 hours for one Collatz GPU task? That doesn't sound right, you want to make sure that you aren't crunching any Collatz tasks on your CPU (takes a long time and not really profitable).

More low-quality nonsense. You are in good company.

Is there any plans for other than BOINC like computations ( think Golem in terms of modified BOINC manager ). Or is Gridcoin is fixated only on science related computations?
BOINC can be used for any sort of computations, not only science-related. If you need some computing power, nothing stands in your way to create a BOINC project, even if it's commercial and for profit. Check here for more details: https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@cm-steem/boinc-project-brainstorming-thread-july-2017

Very frustrating coin... BOINC is great, but GRC is like schoolboys prank: wallet crashes, no magnitude, diagnostics tool is a joke and so on and on...
On the other hand, closest competitor is Golem: no computing, no wallet and the latest one - no deadlines.

Hi everyone. Windows client is killing me. I'm trying to download blocks for the third time and it's always stuck at 99,99%. ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) It's so frustrating. Please guys help me before i smash my laptop ![Angry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/angry.gif) It most likely isn't stuck, but the estimate is wrong. When it's at 99.99% it's actually more like 66%, so it needs more time, but the counter can't move past 99.99% until it's really finished.

Why do you so believe in this coin GRC ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) ?)) Gridcoin has 4.3 million registered BOINC users to recruit. And those are not ordinary "which coinz gonna rise" noobies, many of them have been involved with IT and volunteer computing for years: devs, sysadmins, webmasters, engineers, scientists. When we recruit just 5% of them, only sky is the limit.

I'm not understanding something here.
Neural net shows me as being around 630 magnatude - why is the wallet showing me at 0?
Yes, I read that cryptocurrencytalk link - still have no clue why the current wallet version seems to be broken.
Is there an ETA on when this issue will be fixed?
Wallet is not broken - we had an incomplete superblock yesterday and it screwed up everyone's mag (or nearly so). Things will most likely return to normal today, with the new superblock (which is automatically generated every 24hrs or so). Devs are working on it too, to prevent it from happening in the future.

How much one can earn mining Gridcoin?
Up to 5 USD per day (with a single HD7970 and AMD Ryzen), if you choose right BOINC projects (yafu and Milkyway, in this case).

|
|
any clue on this?
Verify paths to your BOINC dirs? Try without double slashes?

QuintLeo is right, I am aware of both Distributed.net and Prime95, they launched well before SETI@home.
But today, miners and potential investors aren't interested in such details - you can't present the whole history of distributed computing in only one paragraph and even if you did, most people would find it boring. The point is: Gridcoin can change the world, unlike any other crypto. Of course, there's also Curecoin and Folding@home, I support them both, I would upvote their content, but their presence on Steemit is unfortunately very weak.

Yes, Golem has pumped a lot but there is no moment in GRC coin. This year GRC price has changed from 500 to 3600 stats but still, it cannot able to secure good marketing strategy in the market because we need to focus on large marketing skills in order to make GRC reputable.
That's the hard truth, yes. But it's almost impossible to find a marketing professional who is willing to volunteer and we can't seem to make up our minds about finding and hiring one (although there's 30 million GRC in the Foundation, stored away for such purposes). So Gridcoin is still the 'raw deal' - no hype, no extravagant projections, no flashy animations.

very interesting read, are there estimates what you can earn with a decent pc, and are you able to contribute pc power and still work on it or is it lagging and slow?
Lots of BOINC projects with different computing requirements (FP32, FP64, integer, CUDA, OpenCL, AVX etc) so it's difficult to produce a reliable estimate. But with a decent PC (high end GPU, high end CPU) I would say it's still possible to mine about 110-120 GRC per day (using both CPU and GPU, 24/7). That amount will slowly decrease, as Gridcoin's cruncher base grows and competition intensifies. No lagging will be noticeable, except in FPS games which are graphically intensive (but BOINC is preconfigured to automatically suspend GPU computations when user activity is detected).

One out of two coins in green @poloniex, i like this trend!
Golem pumped yesteday, some of the hype occasionally spills over to Gridcoin, largely thanks to Nate ( https://www.reddit.com/user/NateOnTheNet) who is relentlessly promoting Gridcoin on Poloniex, Reddit and on his own website.
