1  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Win a new 32GB Google Nexus 7 Tablet from Bitspend this weekend! on: April 20, 2013, 08:21:41 PM
So you get entered automatically if you've ordered anything within the timeframe?

also sorry this is an off-topic question but do you guys have a special place where I can put reviews of your service?

Yep, anyone who orders between when we announced the give-away(Wednesday) and tomorrow(Sunday) at 5PM EST is automatically entered.  We do have a lot of redditors who post reviews both in our subreddit and in other subreddits, however there are also reviews in many other places.  Feel free to put it anywhere on the interwebz, and someone will eventually find it Wink

2  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Opinions on BitSpend? on: April 20, 2013, 07:54:26 PM
Hey BitSumo Smiley  I see you have found another post about Bitspend that you can advertise on, congratulations hehe.

@phorensic: if you have any questions before your first order, feel free to contact justin@butspend.net, cade@bitspend.net, or support@bitspend.net and someone will gladly answer your questions.  You can also call our office if you would rather talk to someone.

@recat:  There is a subreddit for everything Grin (we're giving away a 32GB Nexus 7 Tablet tomorrow on Reddit)!  And yes, fees are important.  BTC does not always go up in value every day(and will hopefully somewhat stabilize one day), a company cannot survive by speculating the market and hoping to make money off incoming BTC while paying out USD.  We'll leave that to the actual speculators.  As a business with investors(we just finished another successful round of funding including the same group who invested in Bitpay, Coinlab, Tradehill, and Coinsetter) we have to have a plan to make profits that do not include "well, we will make money if the BTC value rises, but if not, well, you lose money".

@gab1159
:  Enjoy the festival and tell your friend thanks for the business Smiley

@elwar:  Our subscription service will be ready soon, as well as our app for ordering things you find IRL, and this week we release our browser extensions for easy one click shopping without even visiting the Bitspend site!

@bitdroid
:  Thanks for posting that info, you rock good sir!  To clarify your #3, our entire site is covered by an EV SSL Cert, and we are Norton/Verisign Secured as well.
3  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Looking to buy ~400$ worth of BTC via chase bank deposit on: April 17, 2013, 09:15:03 PM
If you're interested we can help you out (Bitspend.net).  We allow locals(south FL) to come in to our offices and pick up BTC as our business brings them in all day long, but many of them have started just depositing cash in our Chase account instead of coming into the office.  I have only allowed people in South FL do buy from us(since we're not an exchange or anything), but would be willing to help you out if you need it.

Thanks!
Justin

5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone made any orders with bitspend lately? on: April 09, 2013, 11:29:52 PM
I have tried calling twice with no luck, and my emails go unanswered. Tried PM'ing their account here and have gotten no answers. Mildly concerned at this point, just hoping they're just working through their backlog or something.
We're sorry we're so behind Sad

We are still working to get caught up with all the orders and support emails that started piling up Saturday afternoon.  If you placed an order and paid for it today, it will without a doubt still be placed today on our end and you will get a confirmation email as is normal.  We usually have orders placed within 30 minutes of your payment being confirmed, but we had a backlog of hundreds of orders and emails we're working our tails off to get through.

Some good news, is that we have people here right now interviewing with Justin to fill more customer support and order placement positions, so we can continue to offer the level of support and service our customers have grown accustomed to.

My sincerest apologies for any delays you have had with your order today, if there is anything I can do please let me know.

Any idea when bitspend will reopen? Days? Weeks?

I'm pretty sure someone just re-opened the doors to Bitspend  Grin

9  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitspend.net Launches - Allowing you to spend your Bitcoins anywhere online! on: March 16, 2013, 01:48:16 AM

We launched and had an immediate surge of business, causing us to grow very very quickly.  That shouldn't be a bad thing  Grin

Any evidence of this?

Of which part Smiley

If you'd like to see our growth, then feel free to come by our new offices Monday (should you be in South Florida--or anyone else).  You can even help us get these desks up the stairs because they don't fit in the elevator!

As far as people who have used our service so far, here is one post that comes to mind: http://www.everything-voluntary.com/2013/03/my-purchase-from-amazon-with-bitcoins.html  you can also find mention of us being used by others, in many places and languages(there are Japanese and Portuguese articles).

I understand your skepticism, and it is good to have it.  However the over $7,000 in purchases made through Bitspend by our customers since Monday, show that we are doing well enough a job of earning trust so far.  Now we will continue to do so going forward, and in the end be able to earn the trust and business of those, who like yourself, will wait for further validation of our business before using our service.  We accept that challenge!
10  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitspend.net Launches - Allowing you to spend your Bitcoins anywhere online! on: March 16, 2013, 01:16:11 AM
No one said we were not a new company.  We said it wasnt an "idea" and that we had already gone from initial phase to moving into offices, in a matter of weeks Smiley

At one point, even the largest companies you know, were 1 day old.  We launched and had an immediate surge of business, causing us to grow very very quickly.  That shouldn't be a bad thing  Grin

Okay no problem! I knew it was some legal ish :-)

That doesn't mean you cannot just order the game itself from Gamestop through Bitspend!  Heck, let us know what game you want to pre-order, and we will put it through for you as your first Bitspend purchase and we will waive the normal fee Smiley

12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitspend has an amazing first week! on: March 16, 2013, 01:05:31 AM
I don't get the product.  It's not clear for your ringing endorsement of your own business or your web site.  It looks like you shop for a fee.  Maybe you should have a "How it works" page.

Are there other businesses that do this?  Do they make money?  I've never heard of it except for wealthy people who need their time for things other than shopping.

Quote from our home page:
"Bitspend allows anyone, to shop anywhere online, and pay with Bitcoins when the merchant does not accept them. Order your item through Bitspend, pay in Bitcoins, and we pay the merchant in their chosen format for you!"

I apologize if it isn't clear to you--maybe we need to do some work on that on our end to better clarify for those who do not know what site they are visiting.  For the most part, those who visit us know exactly what they are there... to buy anything, from any website, using your Bitcoins as payment Smiley

That is on you home page only 33% of the time.  I totally missed it.  Because it's part of a display that keeps changing I ignored it while looking elsewhere for a description.

Don't get us wrong, we love the constructive criticism, it lets us improve our service to you.  While the majority of those who visit Bitspend know why they are there, you have a great point.  We will work to make it more clear what our service is "in a nutshell", on a more prominent area of the main page.

Anyone who does under water basket weaving is ok in my book. I had a couple officers in the Marines that had degree is that.
I was trained in the art of underwater basket weaving by an older Korean gentleman outside of Fort Benning, Georgia.  I know Marines train close to there, maybe we all had the same master.

Newbie posting a business idea where your bitcoins can be spent anywhere.

This looks extremely sketchy.

My account isnt listed as a newbie Smiley

Also, we arent posting an idea--but a post about an existing company.  You can feel free to Google us, we have recently gone through a round of funding, and have been very public in many places since we launched.

If you look around, you will even find quotes from prominent people in the BTC community who have already used our service successfully!

Any chance for Gamestop gift cards??? Or Moneypaks?

We're intentionally avoiding any and all "gift cards" right now, until we have 100% legal clearance to do so, as there is a big grey area there when it comes to the Anti-Money Laundering laws, and we in no way want to violate any law which could threaten our otherwise legitimate business.

In the future, when(if) our attorneys give us the go on that, we will offer it Smiley

I thought about a long and comical response to give you, but I figured the cold hard fact of a definitive answer would be best.

Can I buy a car on ebay with bitspend?

Yes. Smiley

Can you use 3rd party escrow with BitSpend?

As of now no.  We know your trust is the hardest thing we have to earn as a company, but we are off to a great start.  Over $7,000 in orders have been placed with us this first 5 days!!  We have an open-office policy, meaning anyone can come by our South Florida office and say hi or even ask about Bitcoins(see our address and location on the contact us page on our site).

We operate as transparent and open as possible, so we can earn the trust of the Bitcoin community.  If you are in FL, come by Smiley

Awesome job with BitSpend.net. Simple idea and perfect execution. This is the kind of thing that will bring Bitcoin to the world.

Just wait!  You guys haven't seen anything yet  Grin

James, our head of top-secret-stuff, is about ready to allow me the honor of releasing our newest features and I cannot wait!  What we have coming will completely streamline the process of ordering with Bitspend, and will make ordering anything with Bitcoins easier than ever before.

We look forward to serving all of you in the Bitcoin community, and allowing you to finally spend those Bitcoins on anything, anywhere!

20  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitspend.net Launches - Allowing you to spend your Bitcoins anywhere online! on: March 11, 2013, 05:24:53 PM

Why can we trust you with our money?
We're attempting to be as transparent as possible with Bitspend - and this includes listing our address and allowing anyone in South FL to visit our offices to check us out in person!  The address will be up later this week.  Also, you can check Reddit as some people are already beginning to comment about our service Smiley

Everywhere? Really everywhere? Chinese, Arab, Latin pages included?
If it is possible, we will order from it yes.  Google Translate lets us navigate through most pages even in other languages.  Already today we have placed orders for people all over the globe.

If you see (legal? practical?) issues, will you charge the fee and return the rest?
If we see you're ordering something you shouldnt be (illegal items, like marijuana seeds, etc.) - then we will give a 100% refund, we wont keep the fee - why would be, we didn't earn it!

Maybe the business requires me to have the credit card that's paid with at check-in, so you won't be able to do that for me.

Do you mean things like hotels?  We can handle that without issue, we simply pay the cost of the hotel, but you are still required to put a CC on file when you check-in to cover room service, minibar, and any other fees you incur.
