Not sure why so many people are having trouble running a NewPac stick and/or a R606 Terminus on the latest Raspberry Pi B3+ models. Unless the issue is specifically with earlier Raspberry Pi models?

Personally, I have never had the desire to own a Pi, so I never got one. Lately, so many of our customers and other members were experiencing Pi-related issues, so I finally decided to buy one last week, and just now found some time to get it up and running.

Following the latest instructions from vh as seen on the OP was a breeze (except for one copy/paste issue on the "CFLAGS="-O2" ./autogen.sh" part, which was easily fixed by typing that one line in manually.

If you have any experience with Linux or Ubuntu, getting the first R606 up and mining took me only ~15 minutes (and my Linux/Ubuntu experience is fairly minimal). I just plugged my third R606 into the Pi, after getting just under ~2Th/s from the first two were left mining for about an hour.

I am using a 94% Platinum HP 1200 Watt PSU, plugged into a USA standard 120V receptacle/outlet, paired with [an of equal quality to sidehack's breakout board], but the version X7B from Parallel Miner. Power/voltage level is set to 7 (the highest), and I am using

Code:
--gekko-serial "GS-100X000X00"

to run each R606 in a separate instance. I will let this third R606 get up to speed, and post some screenshots soon! Wink

I appreciate that @sidehack.   Integrity makes all the difference in this day and time.  It says a lot about you.  Thanks.

Message sent. My apologies for the delay, as we have been extremely busy (like sidehack mentioned). Also as sidehack mentioned, we have been talking about how to best resolve the issue you're experiencing.

Please shoot me another email when you get this. Thanks!  Wink

New build (a62385f)...

I can confirm the R606 Terminus Pod Miners are working with this build on Prohashing.com, and with AsicBoost enabled!

Anyway, thanks again vh for the new build, giving users even more, easier options to use these beasts!  Wink

Hello, i have a problem with my new pac.

I always get the error missing nonces.

Can you help me ?

For starters, the work difficulty of 32.8k for a single NewPac stick is much too high, and would rarely find shares. Have you tried a different mining pool and set your worker difficulty to ~5x expected hashrate in gigahashes? Are you using the latest vh/gekko build of cgminer with the proper syntax?
6  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: ★ [NEW] 1Th/s+ GekkoScience R606 Pod Miner & Product Sales Thread ★ on: May 13, 2019, 02:14:05 AM
I do love little USB miners, is ck still doing their little fun run pool? Might be worth it just for tinkering.

Not sure what ck is up to, but kano is fairly active in the NewPac/R606 thread, and we even did some testing together on the new GekkoScience R606 Terminus Pod Miner, capable of up to 1Th/s+ in a closed-box design, and powered via USB through an external controller!  Wink

Our Amazon listings for the R606 stand alone miner, and with 94% Platinum HP 1200W and 750W power supply unit kit are now live (although hard to keep in stock).

@kingofhammers - Especially because of your background and knowledge, I would definitely wait to hear from sidehack, and get his input. He should be on in the morning, and be able to provide the info you're asking for.

Also, thanks for your willingness to work together with this great community in order to determine if there's actually a problem or not. Unfortunately, you guys are out of my league on this one, but please let me know if there's anything I can do to help!  Wink

New build (ef74c27)...

Thank you vh! I just switched all of my R606 miners to this latest version. First, those stray characters have disappeared now, which is good. Will let you know if I experience any problems, but all has been good so far! Thanks again! Wink

What would be the best way to test for correct voltage settings, a test point to check or a particular pin?

If the fault is on the I2C bus where should I test and what logic (high/low) should I be looking for?

I'm going to do another power down, would you recommend a specific voltage setting before doing so?

Again, these units are hashing away as expected, just have a few more blinky lights.

Have you tried running only 2 or 3 units at once to isolate a potential power insufficiency (or possible limitation of pi), and/or data/throughput jam?

Sounds like a lack of power or communication jam, especially when using AsicBoost. I would try running the two units with the flashing lights by themselves, and see if that helps.

Not very familiar with raspberry pi, but ~400 Watts+ seems like a big ask?

Added the --gekko-noboost setting for btc.viabtc.com and it seems to be working. no crashes so far after 20 minutes.

I set the target freq of the R606 as 600. It has run over an hour and changed the target to 368 and then 15 minutes later changed again down to 362 which result in about 460gh. I have the R606 set to 450mv (setting 6) should I move it up to 7 or down to another setting to reach stock 750gh.

Move it up to 7!  Wink

@kano - I currently have four R606 miners on your pool, all with R606 in their worker names. My newest one is averaging 1.10Th/s on the pool if you want to grab some stats. I'm back in PA now btw, and two additional R606 miners will be online soon! Wink
10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: May 10, 2019, 05:47:29 AM
Thanks 419Mining Smiley  That makes sense.   Appreciate the help everyone.  So the r606 appears to be working as intended.  I need to look more into my newpac and moonlander's now.    I've now isolated that portion down to freq.  325Mhz seems to be the sweet spot at stock settings.  I haven't done any bumps in voltage.  At 350Mhz it'll crash cgminer.    I believe I'm going to leave them at 325Mhz as they are pulling in close to 72Gh/s per stick.

You could always try running separate instances of cgminer for each device type. I generally run the R606 pod miners in separate instances, and have had best results using the December 13 version of cgminer for the NewPac sticks, and the latest April 30 version for the R606.

Hope that might help!  Wink

So my gear came. I have it running but too slow.

Can someone show a working bat file for this?

Using the latest gekko/vh cgminer build, my .bat file looks like this:

Code:
cgminer.exe --gekko-serial "GS-1000xxx2" -o stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 -u xXxXx.R606 -p x --gekko-r606-freq 600

My guess is that you are using

Code:
--gekko-newpac-freq

but should be like this

Code:
--gekko-r606-freq

The MinersSupply GekkoScience R606 Terminus has been going strong on power level 7 for nearly 24 hours now,  using the following settings:

Code:
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333 -u xXxXx.R606 -p x --gekko-newpac-freq 775

Here is the cgminer screenshot from that run:

Our dealer sample R606 has been mining fairly consistently on kano's pool for the past few days now, using the latest cgminer vh build.

@kano - feel free to collect any data from that same worker of mine you used before, and share with vh if needed.

Your words.

horrendous cooling designs we've been convinced to call "normal" now

WE ALL have gotten used to the crap that has been coming out and keep assuming it's all crap, even though we know you build the good stuff.

Going back to the old times of 4 1/2 years ago I shipped you an BTC Garden AM-V1 and a bitburner.
Slow and useless by today's standards. But big open designs with big QUIET fans. And heatsinks the size of a car.

I actually was still running a bigger BTC garden as a space heater till I got an R4 a while back.
You could have it 4 feet away and never know it was on.

I know I made a similar comment in another thread, but build something like that and you will sell every one you make.

-Dave

The R606 IS "that", and a whole lot more! I've been averaging ~1Th/s for well over a week now, and the power usage is essentially NOTHING!

If that's what you were saying, we couldn't agree more. It seems most people don't realize exactly what this R606 really IS!

Just my opinion anyway.
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R606 up to 1TH quiet miner, available for pre-order on: April 20, 2019, 05:40:35 AM
user rockmoney who sells these, has been mining/testing one of these on and off on my pool over the past week,

Here's a test run today:

Continuous mining for a single mining clientid on the pool - stats today for 4 hours ...
From 2019-04-19 22:00:00 -> 2019-0420 01:59:59 UTC (4 hours)
Shares submitted - 915 accepted shares
Total Diff accepted - 3232896.0

So to convert that to a hash rate: Diff * 2^32 / 4 hrs
3232896.0 * 2^32 / (4 * 3600) = 964.25 GH/s

I'll await his post of the settings he used.

Thanks for collecting this data kano! Here is my cgminer screen.

Tester 3, all plugged into PC via single Plugable 7-port hub, volt setting 7

I'm re-running them now, all still at V7 and plugged into Tester 3 via a single GS 7-port hub. Should let us know what's the practical max.

We are seeing similar, UNBELIEVABLE results using the latest vh/gekko build of cgminer! These R606 Pod Miners are certainly a force to be reckoned with, especially for the very tiny amount of power consumption!

In addition to much higher hashrates, the latest vh/gekko build also seems to be much more stable. I am currently mining at nearly 1Th/s with the R606, and using LESS THAN 100 Watts of power (according to my cousins "Kill A Watt" digital meter).

I am curious as to why we are not sold out when it comes to something of this caliber!?

You are welcome.

I'm little confused. This thread title says 100GH/s but the link point to 130 GH/s. So is it the same? How can you push them to 130 GH/s?

And where is the 8 port HUB. I don't see it on the link.

 Embarrassed

If you overclock them, they can reach up to 130 GH/s.  This will require significant active cooling, as well as a high quality powered hub -- here is the link for the GekkoScience one I am using: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PP9SJ1R/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_.TjSCb6VCT63R

I have personally checked all of the links to the MinersSupply Amazon store, and all are working fine for me. I also had a couple of friends check the links, and they all worked for them as well. If you are still unable to view our GekkoScience USB hub on Amazon.com, you should be able to find it by searching for "GekkoScience USB hub" directly on Amazon.com

Additionally, we highly recommend using a server power supply and breakout board to power the USB hub (as opposed to a "power brick"). In addition to being much more energy efficient, a server PSU of the appropriate wattage will also provide much better power to your NewPac sticks.

Lastly, the theoretical hashrate for the NewPac stick miners are UP TO 135Gh/s (this does NOT mean they are GUARANTEED to produce 135Gh/s, but under ideal conditions, I have personally had single NewPac sticks hashing at close to 150Gh/s). There are also many different variables that will effect the NewPac hashrate, including available power, temperature, and voltage.

For the first batch of R606 pod miners, sales will ONLY be accepted direct through the forum. Beginning with batch #2 units, we plan on making them available via Amazon Prime, currently anticipate that being sometime in the middle of May, 2019.

@vh
thanks!

i'll keep at it,

gonna run auto tune build all night to see if anything changes. but i am running PCIe to a usb gekko hub.

What kind of power supply are you using, and what is the maximum output wattage? That could mean all the difference in the world!  Wink
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac Stickminer Official Support Thread on: April 09, 2019, 09:24:55 AM
First, I must say this is a GREAT combined effort between sidehack and vh. I don't believe most people truly realize the complexities behind a project like this. My hat off to BOTH of you for your hard work!

[if there is such a thing] I am fairly well versed with Windows. I also use the latest Windows 10 Home version to run all of my GekkoScience gear, which at times, is 3 GekkoScience hubs each with 6 NewPac sticks, all running together simultaneously from the same PC. And, they do it with ease and perfection, using the latest stable December 13 vh build of cgminer!

Please let me know if there are any NewPac stick tests that need run on this latest build, and I can get the proper logging info over to vh. If that would help, I'm here and more than willing.

NOTHING about this is easy, so again, great work @sidehack and @vh for pulling this miracle off!

Thanks to your work, it's looking like these pod miners would be super powerful miners for such little power usage. Not to mention, it's almost silent operation, making them perfect in every way for home use! It would be a definite game changer to say the least!  Wink

As a side note, I have recently brought my cousin on board to help with GekkoScience product related sales and support, as needed.

If for any reason you are unable to get in contact with me, my cousin CJ will be able to assist you with any sales inquiries and/or support related matters. For security, any direct forum sales payments MUST go DIRECTLY through ME (solely to protect customers from potential imposters). Please NEVER send payments to ANYONE else, or anyone claiming to be us.

CJ's official bitcointalk account is: cjsummers82

Feel free to contact me or CJ if needed. Thanks!
