1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is happening with all these ethereum Hack ? on: July 25, 2017, 08:15:02 AM
That is the disadvantage of the ethereum because it has a very low security and i think that they need to improve their security because it is a very big deal problem in the market because the professional hackers can make easy millions because of the vulnerabilities that they can see in ethereum.
I think there is a problem with the ETHEREUM PLATFORM. I do not think all the hackings are inside jobs but there is a problem with the ETHEREUM CODE that need sorting out or people will loce confidence in this platform. I am surprised people only use ETHEREUM for these ICOS and does not use NXT which has been much more successful in the sense that their wallets are much safer than ETH wallets.

I agree with you. Idea was great, but execution is not soo good.
It just needs a bit more time to mature, more code review would also be good.
It's all experimental so people know that they can lose money.
Another ethereum hacked ICO :

http://www.newsbtc.com/2017/07/24/yet-another-ethereum-ico-gets-hacked-veritaseum-loses-us4-5m/

What is happening guys ? eth platform not secured anymore or all ico owners are scammers ?
I know that there's a security flaw in Ethereum chain, but the main reason why they are hacked are not because of ETH platform, but by the dev themselves. The dev team of that coin is not careful enough to secure their ico funds the safest way. Even if that is the case, I won't say that all ICO owners are scammers just because of one being hacked.
It can be said that the new delevopers team is mostly weak in the field of security. This is the problem, they should still be unfit to run the project, but still impose to run it

Well I think not all platforms are perfect, there are problems that needed to be resolve or needed an upgrade.
Its not the team that has a problem so better the dev of ethereum platform will soon fix this to avoid all the loses of coins.
Ethereum is a ball of shit that gets bigger and smellier by the day. Each day Vitalik and the other scam developers add a little more shit, and stupid people continue buying it

I agree ethereum platform have security problem , they need to fix it , otherwise it will be a MASSIVE dump this week = may be price can drop below 100$ . i'm dumping my eth coins everyday
I'm not surprised that those ICO get hacked, Ethereum is an unsecure.

Guys if you don't know anything about cyber security and hacking, don't write this bull***, you make people think wrong way. Money is stolen from stupid ICO people using website phishing tricks (google it if you don't know what phishing is), Ethereum is not hacked and there is no known security issue in its code at the moment, tell me one? Last known DAO hack was fixed, but still it was not direct hack of Ethereum's code, but the DAO itself. So people just should avoid bad ICOs and don't throw their money blindly. Scammers are everywhere, in all systems, especially in successful ones.

How do you delete a miner?  If I un-install the remote agent, it still shows up in the panel as unavailable but it won't let me add anymore miners since I'm at my max,  and I'm not finding where to remove the old remote miner from the panel.

Thanks

Go to "Main" tab, then click "Options", there you will find External Miner, Managed Miners and Managed Hosts too, on the left side, then it's intuitive to achieve what you need.

DHCP is for dynamic IP allocation you dolt.

You were arguing FOR static IPs, which you wouldn't need DHCP in that case.

That aside, which you don't seem to understand the terminology which you use

DHCP is for three types of IP allocation (automatic, dynamic, manual/IP reservation/"static") and not only IP allocation. Dynamic Host Control Protocol is a common protocol to control hosts (servers, computers, mining rigs...) dynamically (with less effort, less downtime) used in all networks worldwide - datacenters, offices, houses, mining farms...

When you change your hardware such as a motherboard failure, guess what you'll be doing again?
Okay:
1. What you will be doing without DHCP - If you replace it with other model/brand motherboard, you 95% need to reinstall Windows/drivers and change computer name and/or set static IP by hand again in OS.
2. What I will be doing with DHCP - I just bind same IP to the new motherboard MAC (30 sec, easy) and after my rig is started I don't have to change anything else anywhere, ever (until the next MOBO failure), no meter what happens to Windows and drivers, how many times I reinstall them (or just clone OS), or install other OS for mining, like Linux and etc.

manage more machines as you grow over the 255 device cap, GUESS what you'll be doing again?

Since when that was a problem? BTW grow over 255 devices and I see, you will definitely need to hire someone for managing your rigs Cheesy even I refuse to handle it alone.

But okay, it's your business, keep changing computer names (especially for 255+ rigs=) and/or setting static IPs in Windows by hand, one by one, it can be okay, I never judged, just advised.
Those smart guys who aren't aware of the protocol yet, but are more serious about this industry, after reading this will probably start introducing DHCP to themselves (really not hard to learn/use) and start using it combined with awesome Awesome Miner and make there lives easier.

you dolt
You're a kid
Static IPs are for anal retentive admins
you don't seem to understand the terminology which you use

You insult me and argue about the subject you don't understand at basic level yourself, I'm a kid... Whatever you say next, no more time wasting, I'm done with you.

Yeah, you want me to pay 50k for someone to manage hostnames? *clap*

Devices change networks, they aren't always on the same network. If you're building your entire system based around nothing changing, when it does, everything shits the bed. There is dynamic IP allocation for a reason. Unless you're talking about a static part of the network that never changes (like a router or managed switch), this is silly. Once you get past 10 rigs you'll start to figure that one out on your own.

No meter. DHCP is a must in farms or you are doing it wrong, unnecessary effort.
You don't have to pay any K and don't have to manage hostnames or change computer names or anything in Windows at all, you just don't understand what DHCP is, google it. If you have some basic IT skills, you may learn and DIY from Youtube. Dynamic IP allocation is for everyday users, not for industrial cases.

When someone with expert skills is trying to help you and give you a "million dollar advice", please don't argue, just take it. And be sure I manage many times more then just 10 rigs and do least effort in the process.

P.S. I am ready to help anyone else in farm automatization, just PM me (no off topics here).

Hi,
previous version was showing GPU temperatures, but as soon as I have updated to the last version, temperatures do not appear in miner list.
I have experimented and new version of AM and previous version of Remote Agent work fine.
I have running MSI Afterburner Service (did not touch security keys and ports, they match), also checked Firewalls, even disabled both sides, but I cannot get GPU temperature info directly on miner list tab, though miner's system tab has all the info.

What am I missing?
Just to make sure - you are running the same version of Awesome Miner and the Remote Agent?
Do you see the temperatures on the GPU tab? If not, they are not reported correctly from the mining software. You can then use the button "Map to system monitoring" to bring in the information from the System tab to the GPU's.

Yes, AM and Remote Agent versions are the same. I don't see temperatures on the GPU tab, I used "Map to system monitoring" button --> "Display system monitoring data in the GPU tab", but they still don't appear in the GPU tab or status tab.
Status tab says "Interface Offline" and "Mining" and I can use start/stop/reboot/all functions. I am using "Managed Hosts" mode. As I said before this happened just after new update, when both AM and Remote Agents where updated, if only AM is updated and Remote Agent is previous version, it works fine. I guess newer version cannot pull the info from the miner, but I haven't touched mining software at all.
Can you please try to stop a single Managed Miner, then start it again. Any change?

Already tried many times, but no changes. Everything is the same for all servers, not showing hashrate/income, "Interface Offline" and "Mining".
Maybe it is not even trying to pull info from the miner software? Is there an option to disable direct Afterburner control and switch back to using miner software for temperatures like before? I tried to use different versions of Claymore too, no changes.

I have further investigated this issue and found an obvious bug:
Claymore's software is listening to port 3333 by default and AM was using the same port for pulling miner info in the previous versions, but now it looks like AM is trying to connect to Claymore through port 4028 and as I remember it is default port of CGminer.
After setting port 4028 to Claymore, everything works as it should!

I hope this information will help you to fix it and them who are using Claymore with Awesome miner.

-When you add a device through scanning the network it shouldn't add the device based on IP, it should be based on computer name. Almost all miners will have dynamic IP allocation and adding IPs is a fools errand.

I agree with some of your ideas, but what's about IP allocation, using computer names in large farms instead of DHCP IP allocation is a fools errand, nobody does that.
I suggest to hire a network administrator if you don't have the right skills for it.

Really excited to see how BTC price will react to this decision, let's hope it will get approved  Wink

Bitcoin price dropping like a rock.

Good news for natural bitcoin growth in my opinion.

A few whales will get beached, and then they will explode from there own internal gas expansion.

You'd think some bitcoin holders only have one year to live since they want to get rich so quick.

1 BTC still equals 1 BTC.

It would be a miracle if the price did not drop, right?

Maybe I am speculating, but as long as I know Bitcoin's nature (years of observation), also in regard to the current market tendency, I feel like Bitcoin will recover it's price just within the following week or two max. I'm just trying to tell you, we have no reason to worry about it right now at least, just keep BTC and wait patiently. Don't panic like others, who just destroyed the price instantly, but temporarily by so called "panic selling".

BTC ETF proposal rejection is not end of the world, it's just another lost fight of Crypto World War I against the systems, with some temporary price casualties Cheesy Wink

Trying to run this miner using the agents or locally and the miner looks like it starts and then stops right away. How can I resolve this ?
Hi, I noticed you just sent me an e-mail about this. It could be that the Remote Agent is downloading the mining software, but it's being removed by some Anti-virus software.
Can you provide me the Remote Agent log files via e-mail? The files can be found in the folder %localappdata%\AwesomeMinerService. Thanks!

I removed all Av from all systems.

For example it will jump to mine neiscrypt start up. And then stop.

Same problem here, it happens after updating AM Remote Agents remotely using AM main software. Please, help!

Thanks for reply.

Actually I can control the "server", Start, Stop, Restart, Reboot Computer and etc, but still getting this "Interface offline" error. I get only console view (successfully refreshing), but nothing else.
Excluded firewalls (totally disabled both sides for a few minutes), but still the same.

Any idea?
The "Interface offline" message indicates that the API connection to the Claymore mining instance isn't working. When the Claymore miner is starting, it typically states in the console output that the API port is being opened - can you see this message? Awesome Miner is connecting to the default port for Claymore's miner, and that should be 3333. Is the Remote Monitor provided by the Claymore miner working?

"Awesome Miner is connecting to the default port for Claymore's miner, and that should be 3333." - Now, I got it, the problem is I am using another port for Claymore and did not realize AM would use default one.
Your post helped me much, thank you!

The whole internet is full of thoughts like "Ethereum may dye, because DAO was hacked".

To explain simply, my view of the situation is the following:
When a security or financial system of big banks/organizations is compromised and they are robbed or bankrupted, the main monetary system stays mostly intact or at least alive (with some inflation and less value). Certainly in this case the bank/organization is DAO and the monetary system/currency - Ethereum.
Also we know, Ethereum had no security problems, but the DAO itself.

So guys, how do you think, do I see the whole picture or am I missing something very important in case of the cryptocurrencies that is very different from fiat systems and really meters? Is there a fat chance a fat cryptocurrency like Ethereum may die ever because of the security reasons? Is there a precedent of happening this with any other altcoins?

P.S. I am new to this world and BitcoinTalk, all your knowledge and thoughts, any comment are highly appreciated!
