Another milestone is here: SegWit accounts for Bitcoin in TREZOR Beta Wallet!

Production wallet soon-ish?  Wink

Is there anyway to sign a LTC message if it was sent using Segwit from Trezor?

Would it as a last resort be possible to export the private seed and find out the Legacy adress it was sent from?

See https://blog.trezor.io/trezor-beta-wallet-supports-segwit-on-litecoin-b4762ad8ec32

I have already read that link, it didn't help me with my question

Then go to /r/Trezor where they hang out and ask a developer

thanks for the suggestion, I have to check that out.

mostlikely it looks like I'm going to loose all my LTC goddamnit Sad

Message signing on SegWit is unfortunately not supported as there is no agreed standard Sad

when would be the update that will enable us to accept other crypto such as ripple?

An update is sufficient to support other cryptos, yes. However, we are currently not working on any new integrations, as we are working on TREZOR 2.

this is propably nothing to worry about but I recently purchased 3 trezor devices, 2 of these had the usual tear to the box because of the strong glue, the third trezor device however the glue cleanly only was left on one side while the other side had no glue or tear marks.
I did use a knife to open these 3 as I know the glue is strong/sticky.

I'm assuming this was either lucky or just bad quality glue and nothing I need to worry about?

https://www.coingecko.com/buzz/trezor-bitcoin-hardware-wallet-review
as in this review 3rd picture has tear visible to the box, on one of my device box there was no tear at all and all of the glue stuck to one side of the box while the other side was completely free from glue / signs of tear.

edit--> as far as I can tell all 3 had the holo sticker in 100% mint condition, plastic wrap, although the plastic wrap had holes in corners on one of the boxes but this is due to shipping I assume.

If the box had no signs of tampering then it should be fine. In case of doubt, you can send the pictures to support@trezor.io and our Support Team will have a look at it!

does this mean that the Trezor OS and other stuff that makes it all work is written to it the first time I plug it in to PC?

Kinda. The device is shipped without OS, it is loaded when your first initialize it.

mostlikely it's nothing to worry about Smiley , btw when setting up a brand new trezor device it seems at first setup the device is completely wiped?

Updating firmware is not a concern. Your 24 word seed is your bitcoin; you can step on your Trezor or Ledger and destroy it, and restore your seed to a new one in 10 minutes. Back in business. You should be eager to update; firmware needs to be updated to incorporate new coins, new features. Case had a popular hardware wallet a year ago that is worthless now because they never updated firmware to adjust fees.

Thank you for the reminder, I forget some of the basic ins-and-outs of Bitcoin.  Yeah, not being able to adjust fees is a big drawback.  I only have gotten to know just the parts of the Bitcoin Ecosystem that I actually use, the rest, ah no...  I am glad I have all seeds safely stored away.

I was always super hesitant to update firmwares too because with technology everything that can go wrong, always goes wrong with me.  I was forced to do it because my trezor screen all the sudden just went black and became unusable out of nowhere.  Of course my default feeling was that I probably wrote the seed down wrong or something like that.

When you are using a hardware wallet your seed is your bitcoin and you need to get comfortable with wiping your hardware wallet and restoring from seed so you can prove to yourself that there is no danger to firmware updates. You really do want to be on the latest firmware whatever your choice of wallet.

This.

I would recommend sending a small change on the TREZOR first when you set it up. Then wipe the device and restore using Advanced Recovery method (the safest method). If you have successfully recovered your TREZOR with some coins on it, then you will know for sure that the seed is correct.

Firmware updates do not wipe the device, unless the update went wrong (you have to redo the update) or the firmware is unofficial (device wipes itself). It is important to stay up to date, but we do not force anyone to update unless it's a security update. Knowing the seed works is a good reassurance and let's you stay updated regularly.

Trezor can store ETH coins?

Yes, through the MyEtherWallet web interface. Just connect with TREZOR (guide available in the link above)

So, can this piece of hardware connected to Android device? I will be interested to get one if it is able to do so.

Yes, with Android devices supporting USB Host/USB OTG, and a special OTG cable. You can manage your TREZOR with the TREZOR Manager app, and spend coins using Mycelium. More info on our blog here: https://blog.trezor.io/trezor-manager-app-for-android-5f8b86bfc886#.cmbc2f5dh

Has there been any information on the release date of Trezor 2.0?

Nothing new compared to what I sent a few days back, sorry.

Xbach, any news for release date of trezor2?

Still, just Q2/2017. Smiley Sorry, no exciting news yet Wink

At what amount of BTC am I advised to invest into this hardware wallet? I understand there is an amount of BTC where after web wallets are difficult to trust. Also, I prefer divide my funds between web and HW wallets. So, what is the amount of funds when I am advised to consider investing into this? How much BTC did you have (if not private) when you bought your first HW wallet?

Thats like asking how many valuables you should have in your house before you buy a safe to put them in.

IMO the trezor is excellent. even if you only have 1 BTC, the trezor is a simple and secure way to store and spend it (or add more coins to in the future)

Yes. Literally, that is what I meant with that question. Sticking to the very good analogy: why would people buy a safe in their house when they have or intend to have only a small overall value there? People who invest to buy a safe, usually invest to it because they have or assume they will have a certain value to keep there. Returning from the analogy to BTC, I am interested in what this certain value is. 1 BTC, 2 BTC...etc?

I would personally recommend TREZOR when you have 10x the value of TREZOR in BTC... so right now from 1BTC above. Smiley

I haven't tried the ETH wallet with the trezor yet.   Any feedback from you guys on it?
Pretty much like wallet.trezor.io for BTC, DASH and ZCASH.  You can select only one ETH address at a time, even if the TREZOR will generate an infinite number of them.  But, you can see not only your ETH associated with that address, but also all the associated tokens (if you have any).

If you like this very brief review, send some ETH to the address below - to get me started - lol !!!

My only concern is the lack of back up.  If the website is down what to do?   With trezor.io, you can always fall back on Electrum (for BTC, LTC, and DASH) - there is a version and servers for each one of those currencies, and they all support Trezor.   But for ETH,  I don't know of any.

MyEtherWallet is open source and you can download its copy, which you can then run locally on your computer. There is still a catch though, the connection to TREZOR Connect does not seem to be working when MEW is run locally. I will look into that and will report back, but in theory, this would make you independent of service uptime of MEW.

Any word of when this newer version of 2.0 will be released? First Q of the year maybe. Undecided

Hopefully, Q2/2017 Smiley

All ok now. Thank you support!
Just curious, how did you fix your problem?

We are investigating the problem right now. Until we find out what causes the issues, you can use the fall-back version of TREZOR Wallet at https://old-wallet.trezor.io/

I want to give some quick props to the support staff over at Trezor.   Recently when I went to send some BTC, my trezor screen all the sudden would not light up.

The support staff was super prompt and got right back to me every day.  Helped me out of a  stressful situation.  Thanks again!

Thanks for the feedback! The Support Team is happy to hear that you were satisfied, sending you their regards! Smiley

Just wanted to check through a second channel if trezor.io domain does indeed belong to trezor people, SatoshiLabs, etc?

Just wanted to check through a second channel if trezor.io domain does indeed belong to trezor people, SatoshiLabs, etc?

Yep, sorry for the slow answer, all TREZOR services are being moved to https://trezor.io. One of the motivations was to limit phishing attempts, since we have owned so many domains. Old domains will still work, some redirecting automatically, some asking you to move (Wallet).

More info can be found on our Medium Blog

What's really the point of using a hardware wallet?
For security or not even... lol

Always used cloud wallets, thats why  Grin

It is really for security.

If you have your wallet on your computer, and the hard drive fails, you will lose your wallet. If you have a wallet online, and someone hacks it, you will lose your funds (if you don't control your private keys, you do not control your coins).

Hardware wallet mitigates those two shortcomings: you control the private keys and you have a backup, in form of a mnemonic seed (chain of random words in a non-random order), written on a paper.

Then you might ask, why not use a paper wallet instead? Well, spending out of a paper wallet is unsafe, as you will have to enter the entire private key somewhere whenever you want to spend your coins. On the other hand, spending out of a hardware wallet is very safe, as it isolates your keys from everything. Keys never leak and therefore your funds are safe. Hardware wallets also increase physical security; they are protected against unauthorized use by PIN+Passphrase. Paper wallets cannot do that.

Tl;dr: Hardware wallet like TREZOR combines the convenience of a computer/software wallet and the safety of a paper wallet.
17  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [40+ PH] SlushPool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: December 12, 2016, 03:57:03 PM
Yah it makes no sense. Maybe it's just greed and the fee is too high. Then again some of the other pools have fees as well - with the exception of Antpool. I've used Antpool in the past and I'm firm convinced that Slush's infrastructure and web front end is superior in every way. The graphing and charting on Antpool is crap. I'd notice mysterious drops in hashrate. In fact oddly enough with Antpool S9s were performing worse. I'd see a loss of 4 TH on the daily average, which makes me think that the miners were dropping connection to the pool very frequently or the pool's network has some routing or connectivity issue. After moving them to Slush they've been rock solid and daily average is what the miners' web panel reports.

Anyways, not sure what Slush can do to bring on more miners. Maybe he can give a "fee discount" for miners that have been mining steady for X amount of days on the pool - a kind of loyalty reward. I dunno, just saying that this pool deserves more hashing power, that's all.

Antpool has fees... they're just hidden.  They advertise 0% fees, but the fine print states they do not give any transaction fees to miners.  That's about a 4% loss of income.

Yes you are absolutely right! What is worse though is the mining practices of Antpool which are bad for the network as a whole. The only advantage to antpool is the fast solve rate, but this can also be a disadvantage I'd say because network connectivity and latency to antpool's servers becomes a big issue when miners have to rush to send their work units. Ideal mining pool ecosystem would be a bunch of medium range sized pools that have low fees and pay transaction fees AND run a full btc node.

Also, transaction fees are probably going to rise. While the next halving is far away, after it, transaction fees are going to be an even larger portion of the block reward. A transparent 2% fee on the whole reward, is better for both miners and the pool (the pool need to pay for the servers somehow :/ ). Not to mention that hiding the fact that the pool keeps the tx fees is pretty dishonest.

So, after long time reading those wonderful reviews about TREZOR device, i have ordered a 3 unit bundle package last week, can't wait  to put my hands on one.

from my understanding, Trezor is basically another layer of protection to your wallet  and you kinda forced  to open a wallet in Trezor's website right?

Can i use other wallets with Trezor and if so, what is the most reliable  wallet? been hurt already by many exit scam's.

There is a list of TREZOR compatible apps in our documentation, accessible here: https://doc.satoshilabs.com/trezor-apps/ Smiley

Is there a release date for the new Trezor?

What are the specifications of the new Trezor?

-sf-

You can find a presentation on TREZOR 2 here, on our blog. https://blog.trezor.io/trezor-security-beyond-bitcoin-c99f27b18b6b#.yn4jjv71a

Technical specifications? There is this one slide from the TREZOR 2 hackathon. On the picture, that's just the prototype

No release date yet, but aiming for Q2/2017

What do you guys think about the U2F vs. TOTP "debate" (not much of a debate yet, but hoping to start one)?

Also, constructive criticism welcome!
