Can you explain the "Proof-of-Block" a little more? I don't get it? You can get coins when you make transactions? Or am I misunderstanding? Couldn't you just endlessly send coins to your self?
You could endlessly send coins to yourself sure, but fees would eat up your funds, its based on addresses in the previous block converted to a hex format, a snippet of that address then used to search the previous block hash for matches, if there is a match the address receives part of the mining subsidy. Its not very easy to have a match. Because of this, there is additional checking the verifies the coinbase transactions including address, value, size etc further securing the blockchain and eliminating the possibility of disabling the functionality. So how often (in blocks) would you expect there to be a match (and payout)? |

Is it still worth to mine this coin with CPU or is it only viable with a GPU?
It's my understanding that this coin is cpu-only at the moment. It is CPU only. Or at least there are no publicly available GPU miners or even rumors that I have heard of private ones. |

It will show you any orphaned blocks.
what does '*' mean here? afaik 'riecoind listtransactions' shows everything we need The asterisk shows all transactions including immature and orphans. I think that without it, you won't see immature and possible orphans. I don't have any immature blocks so I can't double check this. orphans and immature shows without wildcard Oh ok, good to know. Save my self a couple keystrokes in the future. |
