Since there's a gpu miner for XPM now, it would be conceivable that RIC is new for a gpu miner.

dga doesn't already have a ric cuda miner.  Wink

There's a CUDA miner for it already? Any in works for AMD cards?

No, there is no available GPU miner for RIC to my knowledge.  I certainly don't have one.  User supercomputing may or may not have something working.

XPM has 3 GPU miners out. RIC will eventually happen too with a GPU miner.

Sure.  See previous discussion.  It's just a matter of time and the efficiency ratio.  I've got a new release of the CPU miner in development that will keep the CPUs fast for a while longer, at least.  Big internal changes, though, so it may be another week or two before I get enough of the kinks worked out.  (Amusingly, it'll make it easier to do a GPU implementation based on my code, too. :-)

I spent less than 2 hours converting my Primecoin GPU sources to RIC GPU sources - Nvidia CUDA complier (version 5.5) was not happy with then end result (kernel is too large) - so the development work is on the back burner until May. Primecoin and RIC mining procedures are almost identical with a few exceptions (sieving offset calculations + arbitrary-precision arithmetic).

I am betting on RIC and  mini Maxwell (Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti), hopefully the Maxwell architecture does not disappoint for 32-bit integer (multiplication) arithmetic.

Hmmm, I wonder what Professor Andersen is up to - I cannot improve my RIC CPU miner any further. Perhaps I can steal some of your ideas.

i supposed the 3rd one is the Nvidia one?

Stuff you may have already done - I moved from a trivially parallel model of independent workers to one using a shared sieve and many workers doing primality testing.  Sieve generation is parallelized across about 1/4 of the cores, overlapped with testing of previously-found candidates.

Saves a lot of memory, good for performance, lets you use a larger sieve without hurting performance, and is really annoying to get working optimally on high-core-count NUMA AMD machines, which is why I haven't released it yet.  Oh, and the occasional deadlock. :p

This was the next (and one of the last, though not quite yet) bits of low-hanging fruit before having to start really thinking.

Yup. Its a great idea! The foundation will attempt at this as soon as we get an idea of the budget we are working with. Right now, it is just independent work from foundation members. I know one is working on block explorer and paper wallet for Riecoin and another is working on a faucet.
Working on a block explorer and faucet? Get me some hosting with ubuntu I'll get both running within 1h.

The foundation will discuss your proposal and get back to you. Thanks for the offer! Can you set up an alternative pool as good as ypool?

Just a reminder, if you guys feel like something is missing from the website riecoin.org, please notify me via PM, post on here, or edit the google spreadsheet linked below so I can update it immediately. This includes new exchanges, new pools, new games, etc. Just anything new that is not on the website and is riecoin related.

September 17 (Riemann's birthday) would be a good date to target

Yes! Smiley

Any other important dates that happen sooner? That is six months out, it would be nice to get things moving a lot sooner.

Well, it would definitely be possible to find something sooner, I'm sure. But:
-Most schools are out over the summer, in north america at least, and I assume europe is on a similar timeline
-This gives plenty of time (five months actually) for the people involved with the foundation to get this organized (I might help after my summer timeline gels). I have a lot of contacts in the west coast Canadian universities and would be happy to see if I can't get my network interested in this.
-Gives lots of time to get the word out and give various bureaucracies to decide give it the go-ahead.
-This kind of thing needs momentum, rome wasn't built in a day, etc.

I think the September timeline is pretty much perfect if targeting universities.

Perhaps do a push with a different vector rather than universities? Maybe try to do a big corporate push? See if you can't get Google or Amazon or any of the big cloud computing orgs to donate a (minimal to them) number of cycles on a given day? Good press, would get other smaller orgs involved, I'm sure. Just a thought.

September is a good timeline as well. We plan on doing another press release soon and I am hopeful we can have enough donations for a proper distribution instead of hand emailing one by one. A good PR blast costs around $300 for basic distribution and last I checked we had around $50 in the kitty so what we really need is people to donate...

We've been having some more donations since last week so we are actually about $70 now but we still need more if we are to make Riecoin stand out.

At least $500 with a goal of $1000. $300 for marketing and the rest to development.

I repeat: why don't you accept donations in BTC? I would donate if you do so as I don't want you to sell RIC charshing its rate.
