For me, it is a large amount of money (3000 usd) some fee is always acceptable, because it is my fault and bring trouble to them. Sorry for your loss. I think always better check before send any coins to exchange if there is something wrong. I wish cryptopia give the option to get your coins back as some exchanges made in past as i remember and take some fee from that coins to get it if was higher amount.

Yes, next step I will find a lawyer to sue them, I am not a nz citizen. But I do think it is their fault, of course it is also mine They should help me to return coins back and i do confirm coins is still in their wallet But by now then only say they have sent mail to me and they will do nothing. I know they are busy for the hack, I can wait even for years If you are a citizen or resident of new zealand, you could possibly sue them.
They claim that their warning is sufficient but you could argue that one mass generated email does not constitute efficient.
If you are not a citizen or resident of New Zealand, you are out of luck.
Since cryptopia is a nz company, you would have to get an international lawyer that would most likely cost you more than what you deposited.
Actually, just suing them normally would probably cost you more than also.
It totally sucks, but there is probably nothing you can do.
The best way to cope with your loss is to make a strategy to make back what you lost.
Research some different strategies and get active in making up for your losses.

I sent coins from another exchange, and in that exchange I saved Crpto's addr as a lable And I did not double check the address and then tragedy happen Is Cryptopia active again? How did you find the deposit address of cryptopia if they were not active yet.
Nothing can be done now other than waiting for cryptopi to come online and request support team for refund your money.

Try to contact again with them. Try contacting their representor in bitcointalk. I hope it will work. If they don't give it back to you, it will be their shaddy behavior. I hope you get back your coins.

I sent whitcoins to cryto from another exchange, and in that exchange i saved Cryto addr as a lable So i sent whitecoins by mistake  I wonder why you mistakenly copy that address? Do you trade regularly on cryptopia?
So perhaps you are aware that it was hacked recently and funds are not yet fully return to its user so the chances of your coins of getting back is low.
Anyway, how much the value of your coin? I mean if it isn't that valuable just let it go anyway and don't stress yourself out.

If they are still control the old wallet, i think they have the obligation to help me return coins to me because I have lost some of my coins in cryptopia fully because of their neglect of duty help me to return coins back is not difficult thing. They're under no obligation to refund you those coins. But it looks like they are still controlling the old wallets, and it would be very unethical on their part if that is the case. But I am afraid that you are left with few options.

If the supporter give me some proof indicate their whitcoin wallet is stolen and no any private key in their hand, I will only regret to do that deposit ang give up I can not image wallet.dat file is not copied in that a big exchange Pretty sure to read the main problem of the recent hack activity on cryptopia. They have lost about more than 100k $ last 3 months ago. And im pretty sure they would not give back ur whitecoins since its wallet got hacked.

But as many pepole told them to secure their wallet safely, and they still had our coin stolen and it is possible some people do not know what happen and also not read mail . when this happen, who should bear the all lost? Oh dear, sorry to hear about this mate. But I really don’t think Cryptopia can do anything to return you the whitecoins, seems like it is out of their scope this time. I know this feeling suck, perhaps take this as a lesson and move on.

I do not have a deep understanding of cryptopia hack I do not know if they have the private keys of whitecoin wallet. If not, I will really lost my coins, Thank you for reply I painfully regret not to double check my deposit address I think nothing you can do about it mate, I mean they clearly state that don't deposit any coin in any amount to their wallet. They not even completely cover the lost coin when it is clearly their fault, you think they'll bother to send back coin you accidentally send. And why at the first place you "accidentally" send your coin there?
Anyway sorry for your lost mate, and its a big amount of money in my opinion. So next time you want to move your coin/token to any other wallet beside yours you better double check the address.
Maybe you could contact the hacker since he has all the private keys of the old addresses. Maybe you can appeal to his sense of pity if you grovel convincingly enough. With regards to Cryptopia, I don't think they have certian copies of the private keys of the old addresses. If they had, they wouldn't just watch the hacker slowly drain the wallets over a period of weeks. |

it is the first time i use electrum on Jan 6, 2017, and I saved my seed, and never generate other wallet, so it is the only wallet i use with electrum
and it is the right address because it can displayed as 2FA when I input all 12 words.
so it the right address and only address, I cannot imagine which step is wrong, please help me.
But I have wallet.dat file and I can do transfer normally because I can get correct 2FA code.
And I have transfer all my bitcoins to another wallet, but About BCC, because I cannot restore my wallet without correct 2FA seed, so it is very sad for my, because I will lost my several hundred BCC, please give me some addvice , thanks.
I mean I have wallet.dat and 2FA code, it should be resonable to disable 2FA with 2FA code and wallet.dat

Thanks @Abdussamad @zjt did you write down the 12 words seed of the old wallet during the wallet creation process or did you get them later from wallet menu > seed? I am sure I record 12 words seed when I am creating wallet, I copy it to my txtfile and use it to restore now.
Should I try an old version wallet to try to restore it? by now I use version 2.9.3When restoring did you make sure to select 2 factor authentication when asked what kind of wallet it was?
Electrum autodetects 2FA seeds (even if you select "standard wallet")... and will still generate it as a 2FA wallet. I'm thinking he may have 12 out of 24 words of the old 2fa seed mnemonic and he's restored the wallet as a standard wallet. Not sure whether that is possible but I want to rule it out anyway by asking him this question. @zjt did you write down the 12 words seed of the old wallet during the wallet creation process or did you get them later from wallet menu > seed? |

If you look at the addresses that are in it now, are they they same or are they strange addresses that you don't recognise? I cannot see any address on "wallet_12345" after finish restoreIf you typed the seed in and you see 0 transactions and no history... then that seed is not for the wallet you think it is for. If the seed was "invalid" Electrum would not enable the "next" button and you would not be able to create the wallet. Do you have a record of any addresses that were originally in that "wallet_12345" wallet that was created 1 year ago? First of all you don't need to photograph your computer screen. You can take a picture of it using the print screen button on your keyboard. That'll copy a screenshot to the clipboard and you can then paste that into an image editor, save it and upload it.
So what happens when you try to restore the old 2fa wallet? Do you get an error message? How many words are there in the seed of this old wallet? What version of electrum did you use to create this wallet?

I have two electrum wallet one is generated 1 year ago and one is 7 days ago, all of them is with 2FA I tried to restore them with same step with 2FA seed in electrum 2.9.3 ,but the one which is created recently is restored successfully, another one restore failed which is created 1 year ago.
