2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Gridseeds on Rasberry Pi3 on: March 06, 2018, 02:04:26 AM
Seeking advice on software to run gridseed orbs on Rasberry Pi3. A friend passed along a file to me named "ZeusGrid" which he uses with his gridseed orbs + Rasberry Pi (32Bit), however this file doesnt work on my Pi3, it doesnt even boot up!

Can anyone advice as to what software for the Pi3 they recommend?

3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Cat 5 vs Cat 7 Ethernet Cable on: September 23, 2017, 02:40:23 PM
Hey All,

I received some advice from a friend regarding changing my cat 5 ethernet cables to cat 7 instead. He mentioned that this will increase the amount of satoshis I receive for my hashrate.

What is your take on this?
4  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Three s7 vs one s9 on: September 17, 2017, 11:38:58 PM
Figured that much.

I am also saving up to invest in a solar array as a backup (or second location) for my miners.

I too believe that Antminers S7/S9 or Avalon miners are the way to go for now.

I am looking for a virtual debit card. I will load it up with bitcoins.
Preferably doesn't need me to be over 18.

Anywhere doing that? Thanks!

The two that I know of is bitpay and wirexapp. I have been using wirex for a while now and it seems very convenient. You only need to input personal details if you need to actually have a physical card, the virtual card is pretty quick and easy to get.

Kool,  I'll check them out

Probably the problem is about your fans. One or two of them may be working not working or with lower performance.
Pls. check the fan speed with eye inspection.Switch fans with working miners. If not solved pls give feedback.

I can attest to that,  your fans can cause your s7 miner to freak out.  Sometimes they may seem like they're working right but they're not.

Do an eye inspection to see if both are spinning at the same speeds and so check out the speeds in your miner status. They should be both at around the same speed which is >3000

Wow,  I'm liking those prices already. How reliable is this website tho?
9  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Tropical Country on: September 17, 2017, 12:35:22 AM
You mentioned 50 ASIC miners, I'm guessing you're refering to Antminers s9's because they would be more profitable.

You also mentioned that you have the electrical covered by one of your colleagues so thats not a problem.

My recommendations is managing the temperature, moisture and airflow.  Do some research on how data centers manage these parameters.

Once you've mastered that, you'll be fine.

Its one thing to manage 5 to 10 asic miners, but 50? You'd definitely have to go data center style.

I'm from a tropical country as well - St. Lucia in the Caribbean. I currently have three asic miners and plan on increasing those numbers over the next couple of months, and thats exactly how i plan to. I am also going to be incorporating Solar energy as well.

Well, if electricity isn't a concern for you, go for the most cost effective hash rate in terms of HS/price, that way you'll be able to scale more and have more profits. s7 seems like a good deal in this case.

Yes this is exactly what I'm thinking hash/price,  the S7 wins hands down.

Wish I could find good s7 miners for under 600 tho.
11  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Three s7 vs one s9 on: September 16, 2017, 07:04:53 PM
is these days a S7 still profitable at all?

The s7 is still profitable based on how much you pay for electricity
12  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Three s7 vs one s9 on: September 16, 2017, 03:21:45 PM
Hey all,

I have been mining for some time now with two antminer s7s and one antminer s5,  hashrate totalling at a little over 10Th/s. With that hashrate I am able to generate approximately $100(0.025btc) per week given the price of 1 btc remains over $4000.

Not forgetting to mention that I am not paying any money for electricity due to the location of these miners.

I am interested in upscaling my mining operation with a start up capital of $5000.

What equipment would you recommend?

I have been thinking of continuing with antminer s7's due to the availability of them and their low cost.  I belive that about three s7's will give you the hashrate of one s9 however the power consumption is triple,  however,  power consumption isn't a worry for now.  Secondly one antminer s9 is currently being sold in the range of 2500$ -  3500$, where as one s7 would be about $700.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks
13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Electrical harzards on: April 23, 2017, 03:15:48 AM
Are they cheaper than 240 volt power supplies + a step down transformer?

I got these together with my miner when purchased.  Never considered it to be a problem until now.

Now I will definitely either look into industrial grade transformers or get 240v power supplies like you suggested
14  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Electrical harzards on: April 23, 2017, 03:00:56 AM
Why would you want to step down the voltage from 240 to 120?!  Most power supplies are more efficient using 240V.

The power supplies I have are 110v
15  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Electrical harzards on: April 23, 2017, 02:39:06 AM
I am guessing that you are using something like this? http://www.world-import.com/tc-3000a.htm#sthash.cqKkiUKm.dpbs
Pretty much every "World voltage converter" I have come across is a highly under-rated piece of sh*t that uses far too thin wire for the winding's along with paper insulation.

Use a REAL 120/240V industrial rated transformer. Yes they are about 2-3x the cost but they are bulletproof. Proper size wire and core construction, generally potted in resin, UL-rated, etc...

Yes this is similar to the type of transformer I was using. I will look into the one you recommended.

Over the past couple months I had been experiencing some problems with my miner not working at its optimum speed however,  yesterday I fixed it.  (One of the wires to the second fan was damaged)...  Now that it's fixed its working at its full potential..

It is an S7 running at 4.6Th/s

Apparently,  now that it's running at its full potential,  it's drawing more current.  I had it connected to a 2000Watt transformer last night and one of the sockets to the transformer melted.

I switched it to another location today using a bigger transformer (3000watts),  only to know after a couple hours of mining,  the transformer burnt out.

Has anyone been experiencing these problems and how we're they solved?

How do you have your miners connected?
17  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S7 on: April 23, 2017, 01:42:44 AM
Finally got this problem fixed today.  The problem was with my secondary fan.  The blue wire to the fan was damaged.  After fixing it,  the miner works perfect..  Hashing at 4.6Th/s

Hope this helps anyone with similar problems.

Looks back at the pictures from above,  it's quite obvious that my secondary fan wasn't working at its optimum speed.

Thanks for the help everyone

After changing the clock from 850 to 70. And the fan % to 100%,  I get these results immediately

http://imgur.com/aEHdE7t

Then shortly after,  I get this

http://imgur.com/kO1CnEw

The same behaviour I have described here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1165628.msg17518037#msg17518037

It looks like your secon fan's speed is significantly lower. Check if both fans are starting to spin at S7's startup. I guess there will be only one fan spinning, and second will start to spin only because of the airflow of another fan. Btw, check Issue #9 here.

So it looks that your I/O board is broken (the PCB to which the fans are connected). You can try to flash your S7 with 1fan firmware (try to flash it to SD card and boot your S7 with this SD card - if something goes wrong you will be able to just exctract an SD card (when the power is turned off!!!)). In case it will work properly for a while, you can power your second fan directly from PSU.

Pretty interesting theory, I will try this and post up the results.

Hello,

I have problem in my S9 antminer . I can't open the configuration page like this : http://192.168.1.33/index.html
I try open it in several browsers and I do reset for it also I can't opened it .
note that it work and connected normally and the other antminer work good

How can resolve this problem ?

Thanks

192.168.1.33 may not be the up address of your miner,  you need to ran the ipscanner program found in the manual to find your iP address...  Or you can also use any other ip scanner program available on the Internet.
20  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Miners are offline on Slush's pool, what am I doing wrong? on: December 19, 2016, 03:56:40 AM
Provide more information such as screens hots of your miner configuration.

Do you have all your settings in right?  Eg.  Your worker name etc
