i'd love to know what the total XMR amount @ polo is, what % of XMR total.

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/monero/#markets

98% of the volume is on Polo.

Creenome, i experienced this issue and i dont know what the problem is exactly. what i do is just use small orders with small time delay. mostly if i use margin i market buy or sell anyway and dont put limit orders. so if i have 10 btc to play, i would fire 2 btc each 3 secounds or so directlys into the bids/asks. with that you are at least able to enter quickly with the majority of your money when there is movement in the market. becasue polo can lagg too, and when after 20 sec of lagg this message pops up (instead of "margin order placed" or whatever, its really frustrating.

I'm going to go ahead and give it another try. It's just so frustrating..

What do you think is a good price to buy?

Better late than never, right? What's 1 dollar when it rises $100? Don't miss the train or you're going to wonder why you missed out on XMR and BTC.

Does anyone here margin trade on Poloniex?

I'd like to think I'm not a complete moron when it comes to margin trading but I can't seem to get it to work.

There are plenty of loans out on the table and for the price I set in my margin buys at, however, when making a trade I get the message 'Insufficient loans to cover trade'.

What am I doing wrong?

The book varies at an alarming rate.  You need to raise your rate limit I would guess.  Don't be so cheap  Grin

I couldn't more agree on this statement. I am giving both btc and xmr loans out and I prefer higher rates to lower rates on both coins.

To get both of you in one go, I have tried it all. =/ I'll even sit there with an open order, refreshing the lending page, and I stare blankly at open lending offers that match my order. I am at such a loss. Bagholding from the start, but wanting to make that little extra.

Have you moved the coins into your margin account? If they are in your exchange account they can't be used for margin positions.

They don't even allow you to go as far as placing a loan order if you don't have XMR in your margin account. I was hoping to get someone who may or may not have had this same issue, but now understands how it works. It's really becoming a pain in my ass!

6  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoinfog outage on: September 30, 2014, 10:27:01 PM
Ive seen it happen before. It actually happened last week. I have no idea whats up but I have a problem int he same boat as you.

I deposited $650 in Btc to bitcoinfog during the day yesterday when they werent down. I submitted for a withdrawal. Now on the blockchain it shows that my money went in, and came out(to what should have been my localbitcoins account) but I havent received it to my LBC account. Blockchain shows it was relayed by the btc address's that the Fog uses for anonymity but it seems my money is gone. Only time will tell as they are down still....

When I view my blockchain, everything goes in and comes out as it has in the past flawlessly, but here I am looking at a normal in and out transaction but with no cash in my hand. I really hope they didnt steal my money... If thats the case I will never use blockchain again. This shit is rediculous.

I hope they settle both of our disputes.
7  Economy / Invites & Accounts / WTB Level 2 or Higher VirWox account. on: September 23, 2014, 09:46:19 PM
Just like the title says. I need to purchase a level 2 or higher VirWox account which isnt brand new and has been linked and used with a second life account. I do not need the second life account although it would be a bonus. Post here before PM'ing.

Thanks!

120$ HELLO AGAIN Cheesy
Have you never seen a rally before? Doesn't go in one endless straight line up.

Bitcoin is full of surprises
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 14, 2013, 08:11:59 PM
For the past 8 days the rate has been unusually steady hardly any fluctuations, I can see a pump and dump is due within the next couple of days> I expect the price to increase a moderate 5-10% more then we will see a sudden dump with a 30% fall then a steady increase as people get out their poop scoopers to collect the cheaper coins that others lost shitting their pants

Is my prediction coming true? BTC was $118 when I wrote this, now down to 110, heading below $100 I say

I guess I've failed to see the 5-10% rise since you've posted that.

Adam should rename this thread from wall movement tracker to fiction, fairy tales and dreams...

The quality of the forums is inversely proportional to the BTC/USD exchange rate, it seems.

So the higher the BTC/USD price the stupider forum users get? lol
Spending all that cash on drugs and hallucinating
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 11, 2013, 02:05:24 AM
lol that's what i'm seeing.. people selling below 118   and the ask price sticks to 118, so anyone has to buy them coins back more expensive

i want to buy in but i'd bring price over 120$ with  massive slippage..
put some asks up there people!..

Just in case you weren't trolling and because we have a lot of new people on the forum, I'll share some pro tips to deal with slippage on both sides.

For people who have no idea what he's talking about, lets say he has 100k USD he wants to use to buy Bitcoins. The price is at $118. If he puts in a market order for 100K, the order will end up buying coins at $118, $119, $120. So instead of getting in at $118, he's in at $119+. The ticker says $118 but he's forced to pay $119 to get back in. So that sorta sucks.

You only want to use market orders when you want to push the price up or down. Sometimes you'll pay the extra when buying (from slippage) because people will see a big purchase, more people might start buying, you move the market slightly higher, maybe start a rally, there's some built in short term protection for your BTC. When you market sell, you push the market a little lower and sometimes get panic sellers to join in. If you're not trying to move the market up or down you really shouldn't be using market orders.

But now you're thinking, I don't have all day to spend my 100K-500K USD on coins, I have shit to do. Fuck slippage, I want to get back in the game quickly. There's another option.

You want to place fairly big bid/ask walls near the edge. Preferably, right on the edge. The reason these walls get taken down so quickly is because the other side is also concerned about slippage. A 100k bid wall right on the edge, means people on the ask side can sell a bunch of coins with no slippage. Normally selling a bunch of coins you'd end up selling coins at $118, $117, $116 as you worked your way down to fill the order. By putting the wall right on the edge, you're letting everyone know they can buy/sell a fairly large amount and not have to deal with market orders (no slippage).

So if you're buying/selling a large amount, break it up into a few decent sized walls, put it right on the edge, they will get taken down (filled) very quickly. You can get in with your 100k USD right at $118, giving you a little lower price point. I see a lot of people getting impatient, forcing themselves in at a higher price when it's really not needed. You don't have to stick to limit orders $1-$2 below the ticker that can sometimes take hours to get filled. You don't need market orders. Go to the edge, get back in when you want to get back in, and go from there. You save time, get in more quickly, and sometimes the timing of when you get in is more important than the price.

In wonkytonky's case, a few bid walls right on the edge would have gotten filled extremely quickly, and slippage would never have come up. If anyone has different strategies they use to get in and out with large orders feel free to correct me.  Grin

Very nice write-up. +1

17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who here regrets not ordering a BFL unit? on: April 27, 2013, 02:13:08 AM
IMO BFL are the only ones benefiting from these units. As each unit comes onling the difficulties obviously going to get higher. People speculate the BTC/day for these units but I think everyone who purchased one is going to be very upset after day one.

Hey all, BigAnth here, I read about bitcoin about a year ago but only now getting into mining. Late to the party but hopefully it's a long one. In the process of building a rig to mine LTC and others.

I'd personally leave LTC in the dust. Of the crypto-currencies available today, I'd say BTC is the big fish.
All the media focus is currently surrounding BTC. Just my 2 cents.
