<former Prince>

If I could blow my merit load, at a 5:1 ratio to remove merits from someone, I would likely have Theymos revoking my merit source as a punitive move for dumping everything into your forum account to keep you at a negative merit count...
There you go Deputy Dawg - remember the cartoon character a proper merit whore.
my last 4 merits
Justice done.

Gee thanks Bob.
And I would not give a fuck if I had merit 0.
Its kinda like getting a star in school who ever gave a fuck about such puerile shit.
Perhaps something missing in translation.
(prince) Now King.
Hey I'm heartened with your regular updates on your ranch project.
Nothing ever worth doing did not come without major problems and ball-ache.
Your effort will be rewarded with the most worthwhile thing you ever did in your life.

While you are having a bad mood, I may just say how fucked off I was over your city boy attitude towards your neighbour farmers over what amounted to less than an acre of dirt. Whilst you won your ground legally, your action will not be forgotten by all your neighbours, who possibly have three generations or more buried in the church yard.
This needed saying.

I was on a business visit this morning to a neighboring farm.
I was left alone for a few minutes while I waited for coffee to be made.
Out of boredom I scanned through their bookshelf, I had to do a double take when I spotted the spine of a book, Bitcoin - a beginners guide.
I thought if these very conservative, regular folk (in god we trust) are taking interest in and possibly own Bitcoin, Bitcoin's time has definitely come.
Out of politeness I did not bring up the subject, but will broach the subject if the opportunity arises at a future date, perhaps over a beer. I am insanely curious.
Given the above.
To those who sold at $18800 - what the fuck! were you thinking of.
To those waiting for $15k $12k $10k good luck with that, at some point the ship will sail and you will curse the day for your inaction.
A lesson from history, I'm still waiting for my $680 order to fill.

The ugly side of food production.
So that the consumer can get pork loin for $2 a pound and chicken drumsticks $1.20 a pound.
I believe the practice of feeding waste to pigs is banned in Europe, its no wonder they ban the import of some of our meat.
If you can afford to, and not everyone can, pay a bit more and buy better quality meat which is often raised with higher animal welfare standards.
Many people would not put anything less than $8/quart oil in their car but regularly put crap food into their body.

America can not win vs Russia in Ukraine because Ukraine is Russia.

You are free to voice your opinions here, nobody gives a shit.
Unlike beloved Russia where disagreeing with the Kleptocracy about Ukraine can end you up with 15 years jail time.

Anyhow becoin never mind the fate of Ukraine - (Russia lost that war on 24 February 2022) what is your opinion on the future of bitcoin.

it seems that sub 20k is confirmed by math and science now....

btw where is the Lama when we need it

not so long ago for the WO, the prospect of twelve hundred USD seemed like a pipe dream

One Bitcoin trading for the then price, of an ounce of  gold.

Then to see One Bitcoin trade at it's peak for the price of One Kilogram of gold.

Can you imagine how ecstatic I am at today's low price Bitcoin trading for $21 thousand.

Beyond my wildest dreams.

Maths and science confirms the show has barely started

Even Llamas are going long.

Imagine having to live in that utter toilet of a country.
China: Shoppers flee as health authorities attempt to lock down IKEA amid zero-Covid policy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ehwk2SZndhA&ab_channel=TheTelegraph
As if it is something worse than what happened in the so-called civilized countries of the world in the past 2 years - or what will happen again when the summer ends. To me, such things are not at all strange in China, which is a communist country where the government decides and the citizens listen - but when it happens in countries that have guaranteed human rights that are erased overnight, then it is really strange.
According to me, the most important reason for this was the fear that was spread globally through the media. Conspiracy theorists took advantage of this coercion and propagated it well and spread fake news, which different countries, especially developing countries, faced such a situation. People were more afraid of the hospital than Corona and they considered Corona to be just a lie. If the governments had given awareness instead of spreading fear from the beginning, maybe this would never have happened.
https://youtu.be/3KFCc68Ojg0

The fear is used to get people to do something specific that the government wants. The media is merely an arm that goes along with all the nonsense.

As religion slowly fades in the west, especially left wing do gooders appear to be replacing their religious figures with politicians and want more and more money to be poured into government and make the government buildings / churches as big and plentiful as possible.

This next thing is just a joke to me, considering I lived in Scotland where crime and drugs are still rife (only place in the UK I've ever been randomly attacked by the way for no reason) and it appears to be turning into some bizarre social experiment in wokeness:

Council accused of ‘mansplaining’ menstruation after appointing man as ‘period dignity officer’
https://uk.yahoo.com/news/council-accused-mansplaining-menstruation-appointing-101956664.html

If you have time to fart around with this sort of claptrap it is a clear indication to me, there is far too much money invested into politics and our taxes can heavily be reduced. If poor women genuinely have problems accessing period products, by all means, start a charity, I'd donate and I'm sure many women would as well. It sounds like a humbling option. But does a government need to make money out of this sort of situation (if it really exists - we'd have to look beyond the media to make sure!)? It sounds leeching and opportunistic if anything that jobs are created for this!

The human race easily has the opportunity to use Bitcoin and tell governments to all fuck off with their taxes completely but people are too scared because the media said Bitcoin is bad and used by criminals.
 Roll Eyes

Government is a bottomless pit for spending your tax money inefficiently.

A previous UK Prime Minister famously said "The trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money" - Margaret Thatcher.

My wife tells me sanitary pads are 8 cents each in Walmart $3.82 for 4 dozen. Im sure its same over in Scotland.
Its more a case of people have had their self reliance, resilience and self respect stolen from them by issuance of never ending welfare so that government has more control over individuals to the point some folk need their own asses wiping for them now.

Enthralled by OutOfMemory's Astro Photography, incredible results.
To anyone interested in learning Astronomy, you don't need a telescope to get started.
Most astronomy is simple observation and a paper star Map or one one your phone to help you navigate.
Up early today busy day ahead, was hoping to view the Perseids meteor shower, sadly it is cloudy here and it will be getting light soon.
I'll try again early tomorrow morning, look to the NNE preferably after midnight when the radiant position is higher in the sky. If you are in the southern hemisphere at the latitude of Darwin the radiant position is very low in the sky and in Sydney will be below the horizon.
Another run at $25k, will it break through today?
A good day to everyone, whatever you are up to.

Iran places $10 million foreign trade order with cryptocurrency –  Deputy Minister 🇮🇷

https://twitter.com/BitcoinMagazine/status/1556957114593050624

Is this story true?

Jpost runs it with source as Tasnim News Agency https://www.tasnimnews.com/en but nothing listed there, unless it is very old news.

So we have a round figure $10mil an unspecified cryptocurrency, unspecified goods, an unnamed  deputy of an unnamed ministry. Possibly the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, nothing on their website.

It's on Twitter - oh it must be real.

OR lets spread some FUD - Iran using crypto to get around trade sanctions. Oh god I'm afraid the US will now ban Bitcoin. Shake fear tremble.

Oh FFS

Well I'm happy not to live in the USA.
We get way more vacation with a regular job. Also job security is way better. Sick leave no matter how long you need to recover, etc.

Americans think they live in the most free country in the world but that's simply not true.

Yet average GDP for every EU country except for Luxemburg is still lower than that of the USA.

Certain job sectors in fact across Europe such as IT pay pittance salaries compared to the USA. Sure, you only have private healthcare in the States but it is also of a much higher quality.
Many Europeans need to flock exactly to the States to get experimental cancer treatments simply not available in Europe.

I think you are pretty much the definition of an ignorant European who stupidly have outsourced energy security to a country you for some bizarre historical reason hate and you have also installed countless layers of government thinking it will protect you from trouble where in fact it is turning into a similar political setup that Adolf Hitler wanted to achieve: Germany in control and no one else gets a say. When someone wants to leave said political system such as the UK you shame them and completely forget it was them who saved your asses from all speaking German or Russian by now.

It is also my understanding that the once secure job market in the likes of The Netherlands now with year only contracts is nowhere near as safe as it used to be. Plus the constant mumblings over ditching the mortgage tax break would make the average worker / mortgage payer much poorer if it were to go.

The EU concept was Germany's plan B if the war was lost, to continue their dominance over Europe.
Sadly the occupied Europe of WW2 has long forgotten why they are not all now speaking German.

Am I correct in thinking you mostly live in Netherlands. I understand that thousands of farmers are to be forced to cease farming because of some misguided Green policy on reducing Nitrate pollution. Only to import food which has likely been produced under the exact same systems. Thereby outsourcing pollution, that's OK then.
Europe and indeed the entire world need as much food production this year as is possible to prevent mass starvation for those that cannot bid the high market prices needed to secure essential commodities. Shame on the Netherlands' well heeled population for their efforts to reduce that food supply.
Oh the US is no different! we are being run by the inmates from the asylum, the latest the Climate Bill $369 billion, what utter fuckwits could have conceived this and at this time in history when the world is on the brink.
Those with even modest amounts of Bitcoin will ride this storm better than most.

Full disclosure upfront: I'm too daft to know how to multi-quote (quoting and responding to different posts in one reply). So I'm trying to address every post relevant to this discussion in one go (hopefully in chronological order), in order to avoid multi-posting.

@Farmer Bill
"The EU concept was Germany's plan B if the war was lost, to continue their dominance over Europe".
The EU concept is actually rooted in the mind of Richard von Coudenhove-Kalergi, who was Austrian-Japanese, and also the founding president of the Paneuropean Union (formed in 1923).

"The WW2 propaganda" as you refer to Germany's plan B was common knowledge in Europe after the war".
No, it wasn`t. In fact, nobody ever said so anywhere before you did.
Not having a go at you, just trying to set some things straight.

"Oh well forgive and forget, the EU is now one big equal happy family (ruled by Germany)".
Sorry to say, but this is delusional. See quotes from psychodad.

@psychodad
"While I am all in for some recreational Germans bashing,...."

"It is however IMO true, that today they're calling the shots in the EU and the EURO could be seen as their trojan horse to transfer wealth into their direction".
They are the No. 1 contributor to the EU, and therefore member states, financially.
So if calling the shots means splashing out money to everybody else, you might be right. Other than that...
And the EURO as their trojan horse to transfer wealth into their direction is obviously a genius move, since the Deutschmark had failed so miserably before.
There`s a study out, I think by OECD, comparing median household wealth in the EU. You might want to look it up. From what I remember, German households are among the poorest (as opposed to government finances, which are still relatively godd, althought deteriorating fast).
With things looking like they are right now, you might have a reason to rejoice in the near future. Germany is hanging itself, while simultaneously shooting itself with a shotgun, thanks to its brilliant energy policy - along with several other self-destruction mechanisms..

No more shot-calling, Fritzes`dictatorship ends..yeah.
A bright future for all of the EU, or in fact Europe, lies ahead..

btw: No personal attack intended on you, either. Trying to be realistic, though.

Not wanting to drag this out any more, it was common belief after WW2 that the Nazis and industrialists of Germany had a plan to implement should Germany lose the war. That was economic rather than military domination of Europe.
My father born in the early 1930's spoke occasionally of it. Those who would remember are dying out by the day. Some remnants appear in conspiracy theories - Red House meeting and so on.
The younger generation can put that behind them - its good to see Europe co operating rather than warring with each other.
Giving up the strong Deutsche mark for the Euro definitely worked in Germany's favor by making their exports cheaper.
What will happen to Europe when Germany can no longer afford to bankroll the project and France and Italy too reduce their contribution with UK donations dropping off sharply after their exit remains to be seen.
Europe will also have to step up their defense spending, having too long a free ride on US taxpayer.

No ill will to anyone in this discussion.

Back to the subject matter - Bitcoin and the slow month of August, awaiting US inflation figures out tomorrow.

Farmers are not ceasing their work they are just negotiating which is normal here.
We have a tradition of getting things worked out so I have no doubt many will get compensated etc.
For a country that mostly lives under sea level we know how to pull through together.

Because we are a highly populated country with one of the highest densities it isn't strange that we generate a lot of nitrate and other greenhouse gases. Also we have one of the most advanced farming industries in the world increasing that load. Importing has always been cheaper for us and it also distributes the nitrate load. Most farming we do is for export.

Countries like France have way more space so it's not a strange concept to move farming to other places in the EU.
The problem is finding a workable solution for the farmers which I believe they will find.

On the flipside we have a working democracy so we can always kick the government out if it becomes unworkable.

And for the WW2 propaganda... without the people from the European continent you would all be living in a tipi running around with bows and arrows  Kiss

And remember who hired all the nazis when the war ended ;-)

Thank you for enlightening me on the farming situation as seen from the Netherlands itself.
So you also agree with outsourcing the pollution to increase your collective green credentials whilst benefiting from cheap imports.
As a sovereign country you must do what is best for Netherlands under current ideology.

"The WW2 propaganda" as you refer to Germany's plan B was common knowledge in Europe after the war.
But has quietly been erased from collective memory so that your generation is shocked if it is mentioned.
I visited Holland 45 years ago, where they did not like being called Dutch as it was too like Deutsche and preferred the term Hollander as memories of the Nazi Occupation were still raw.
Oh well forgive and forget, the EU is now one big equal happy family (ruled by Germany)

We don't half talk some crap here, me included while Bitcoin bounces along nicely.

Starting to eat away at that $24K resistance. I think we might see a quick hop up to $30K, but I’m still under the belief that a retest of the lows is possible when the mtgox coins are distributed. I would say that will be the time to buy, but it’s quite possible everyone else is thinking the same thing, so we’re seeing big money trying to front run retail’s re-entry by buying all throughout this dip.

I had an account at Mt Gox as did many others on WO at the time. I fortunately got my coins out before withdrawals were stopped. So most recipients of the distribution are Bitcoiners like us who would just add the coins to our wallets rather than rush to exchange them for ever devaluing fiat currency. A proportion will sell with the larger transactions done OTC. I think this event has been long priced in and at most will be a blip in Bitcoins history.

After working 10 years in 9 to 5 job, I can say that if I have put same level of energy in my own business for 10 years definitely I would be at much better place

The difference of course being, running your own business is not 9 to 5 hours.
It usually requires much more effort, more hours and greater responsibility.
Your successes are yours, the profits (and losses including bankruptcy) are yours, your fuckups are yours, the buck stops with you.
Even if you don't get rich, just being your own boss and having control over your life puts you as you said at a much better place.
If the business is something you are passionate about, the hours and effort won't seem like work.
The satisfaction gained from running your own business sees many continuing to work well past normal retirement ages, while for 9 to 5 employees retirement cannot come soon enough.
Maybe Bitcoin can eventually help with getting your own business started.

The solution is simple, withdraw your troops from Ukraine soil to pre 2014 borders, stop all hostilities, pay reparations, and all will soon be back to normal.

There is even simpler solution. Nuke the warmongers in the West and let them rot in Hell!

Even simpler solution let the warmongers of the west sit down with the warmongers of Russia, drink some vodka and talk peace like real men should. Instead of killing 8 year old Ukrainian Nazi girls and their baby sisters.

The nuke option is a very poor strategic choice due to the certainty of a two way nuclear exchange.

Nearly five months into its senseless war against Ukraine, Russia has concocted a wild new explanation for why the Kremlin’s plans for a quick takeover fell apart so spectacularly—because Ukrainian troops were turned into superhuman killing machines during “secret experiments” in American-run biolabs, of course.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/russia-says-losing-because-ukraine-104546288.html

Russia will demilitarize and denazify Ukraine which lost its sovereignty in 2014 and became US colony. This goal will be accomplished whatever it takes. Russia will not tolerate hostile US colonies at its borders.
I expect you are right, elimanating the few hundred Ukrainian Nazis will be easy especially their Nazi children. (Russian Federation has more Nazis than Ukraine) Then annexing eastern Ukraine to provide the landbridge to Sevastapol and its naval port continuing dominance of the Black Sea plus stealing Ukraine's major industial region to further deprive their economic future.
The cost to Russia: 10s thousands of Russia's finest young men sent to their deaths for the benefit of Russia's billionaire Kleptocrats. You know the KGB guys who stole the Russian people's Nationalized assets and divided it out amongst themselves.
30 years of building trust and friendships between ordinary people on both sides destroyed.
Creation of a new Iron Curtain with massivly increased defensive / offensive capabilities stretching from 100km west of Murmansk down to Sarp on Turkiye's Black sea cost.
Kalinigrad Oblast increasingly isolated.
It is telling that none of the former Eastern European 'client states' of Russia wish to return to their previous status. Having witnessed an unprecedented increase in their standards of living since those days of oppression.
Like the Germans of WW2 Russians will hang their heads in shame at what was done in their name a decade from now.
