1  Other / Beginners & Help / Is anyone still gambling on the bitcoin gem? on: July 01, 2013, 06:26:06 PM
I just purchased the bitcoin gem for .1 bitcoins, but so far no one has bid on it. Has that game died out, or are people still playing?
2  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Computer crashes with three graphics running at the same time despite 1200w PSU on: June 17, 2013, 02:34:21 PM
Might be a heat issue. The case is well ventilated, and has more than it's share of fans, (top, side, rear, hard drive, CPU (obviously), etc.) but as mentioned, if an unused card if hot to the touch, some serious heat is being generated. A liquid cooled system wouldn't work because, well, with three cards sandwiched into one another where would the cooling blocks go? How exactly do people run three or four powerful cards at once without the heat being a factor? There is a way to do it...I'm just not sure what it is.

y motherboard is a p8z77-v Premium. May be heat...the two 7950 cards were running, and while they were, I touched the heatsink on the side of the 7970, and it was hot to the touch...and it not even running. Maybe heating issues? Maybe something else. The motherboard temperature is 44C (note: I only have two cards in the system now, since this way I get 975 KH/s, compared to only 750 KH/s...I'm mining feathercoins ATM).

Pvtbrutus: What is the amperage of the current PSU I'm using? I can't find it anywhere on Newegg's site, but I do know this PSU was recommended by JohnnyGuru.
4  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Computer crashes with three graphics running at the same time despite 1200w PSU on: June 16, 2013, 04:29:22 AM
The PSU is made by OCZ, and is a Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III Series. Here's a link to the specs in question.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703037

Since the PSU has a platnium rating I figure it muss be high quality...pity it's not muli-rail, but then again, buyer's remorse. Sad
5  Bitcoin / Mining support / Computer crashes with three graphics running at the same time despite 1200w PSU on: June 15, 2013, 11:07:10 PM
For whatever reason my computer crashes when I have three cards running at once. With three the computer will cut off automatically after about 10-15 minutes, and with two cards running, and one sitting idle, the computer will completely freeze up in about an hour. Is there anything I can do to fix this? The only fix I've found is to unplug one of the three cards, then two can run just fine.

This is the power supply I'm using. It should be able to handle the job since, with three cards running, only 950w is being used up, which leaves over 200w of overhead. Also, as for the RAM, I ran a memory test on it at advanced settings...nothing came up, so the RAM isn't the issue.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Slow mining speeds, and computer crashes on new windows install. on: June 11, 2013, 04:45:37 AM
@ Bitcoin Miner: Are you a troll? If not then quit posting because your not helping.

Slow speed is one thing...the card I'm using running at 1/4th of it's potential is not. Also moving the cards around has proven that the problem can be fixed somehow...that was back with only two cards though.

As for the PSU this is the one I got.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703037

I also got a watt meter, and at full load, it draws 950 watts or so. So basically I've got 250 watts of overhead. Cheesy

As for the problem happening before with only two cards, yeah, that was annoying, but somehow swapping the PCI-E port of the two cards fixed the problem. *shrugs*

The reinstall happened when I installed the third card, but yeah, before the install, everything was working just fine. Also, the computer doesn't shut down, I just get a black screen with nothing on it. The computer is still on, but no video feed is being sent to the monitor.

Everything is at stock, with no adjustments, so that takes care of voltage, and clocks. Since I had an issue with just two cards similar to this the intensity is 20 and 19 for the two 7950s, and 18 for the 7970. Also I am curently using GUIminer-scrypt for mining feathercoins. As for the temperature, since the above values are starting from cold, not all that high. However, when the temperature peaks, around 77- 79 per card when all cards are running at the same time.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Slow mining speeds, and computer crashes on new windows install. on: June 11, 2013, 12:49:07 AM
Thanks to Windows having to be reinstalled when you add/rearrange the video cards (thanks Microsoft) I've had to perform a clean install when adding a new graphics card. Okay, fine, the only problem? The computer keeps shutting down when I mine!

I have a 1200 watt power supply that is Platinum rated, two GTX HD 7950 cards, and one GTX HD 7970 card. The current hash rate I am getting is 54, and 72 for the two 7950, and around 600 for the 7970. Before installing the second 7950 the usual hash rate was around 300+.

Also, because that's not bad enough, the computer quicks working, and I have to restart it to get anything on the screen to come back up. If anyone can help me figure out what is wrong I would greatly appreciate it, because this is beyond weird.

Scam comes to mind. Anyone care to disagree?
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Taking preorders for USB miner soon on: June 09, 2013, 03:52:33 AM
What do you do though when you run out of space to put cards? Build another computer? That also eats up energy? Not good for the electric bill. Then again...the miners aren't good for the investment comparatively.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Taking preorders for USB miner soon on: June 09, 2013, 12:00:30 AM
Let me put it like this: you see the message in my sig? Okay...it is both genuine, and true, but since there is no hint of proof that I didn't just make it up (and even if there was who would care?), so far I've got nothing off of it. What's the point to this story? Same as you: even if what you say is true the burden of proof still relies on you, and even then, people won't just start handing you money out of nowhere.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / What is a good site for trading FTC, TRC, and LTC for bitcoins? on: June 08, 2013, 06:04:37 PM
I want to transfer one type of currency for another. Any suggestions for what site would be recommended? I have some amount of the above three, so a one stop shop would be nice.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is an Asic from butterfly labs worth buying? on: May 27, 2013, 03:42:51 PM
What about the stuff one ebay? I see people selling theirs at a huge mark-up. Then again I suspect a scam. One user even demanded payment using bitcoins right in the auction listing (red flag), had only two reviews, and those were in selling, (red flag again) and his username was runawayfaster (not making this up). Also, yes, I'm aware that some are buying someone else's place in line, but then again, others are saying they have the actual product in their hands, and are willing to ship. Yes, I smell a scam, but still, I have to ask.

As for the money making machine part, no, that's not what I'm looking at it for. I just want something where I can have a few hundred dollars extra a month. Basically even if it was $300 extra a month, to us, that is something substantial, even after the cost of electricity.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Is an Asic from butterfly labs worth buying? on: May 27, 2013, 01:44:35 PM
I was wanting to purchase an ASIC from butterfly labs for $2500, and while yes it would render the current card useless for about one or two years, I figured it would be worth it if I could get the ASIC in around two or three months from now. The only problem? While I believe that some ASICs have shipped from BFL (I may be wrong on this) it is a really small number. However the Avalon unit, which is about the same in performance, costs 73+ bitcoins, or about $9000. Ahhh...

*points to his signature*

No. $2500 is enough to break the bank, but it is an investment, and I'm used to eatting cheaply as possible (the 75c ramen noodles are considered extravagant living for me, and don't get me started on the $2.50 noodles that are oh so silky and fine). The point is that an ASIC from Avalone is too far outside of my price range, and as a result, I have to go somewhere cheaper which is why I was wondering if BFL might be worth fooling with. Personally...I think I'm screwed all over again. :-(
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is a good mining pool for feather coin? on: May 17, 2013, 12:25:13 AM
I couldn't find said mining pool anywhere on google. I did find these two:

https://tailfeather.cc/
http://fc.ltcoin.net/

I don't know if either are worth fooling with. Also I can't figure out what client I need to use for mining.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / What is a good mining pool for feather coin? on: May 17, 2013, 12:00:32 AM
I'm trying to look for a good mining pool for bitcoin, but because feather coin is kind of newish, I can't find that many, and to make matters worse, I'm not sure what is a good pool or a bad pool. Additionally I have a guiminer (for bitcoins), and guiminer scrypt (for litecoins), and was wondering if I would need a new miner for feather coins? If anyone can help with this I would appreciate it.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selling 10k more FTC on: May 03, 2013, 04:01:26 AM
A little over two bitcoins...sorry that's all I got. I would give you three, but you would have to wait a month. Also being on SS doesn't help, so maybe you can consider it as a tax right off? I'll give you a recite if needed.

Yes...I know I'm wishing for the moon here, just let me dream for a bit, will you?
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Has the difficulty to mine bitcoins quintupled (x4) since March? on: May 02, 2013, 10:32:44 PM
Being poor is never fun...being on social secuity is even worse...and here it was I was hoping to do something about my debts. Well, as long as the card pays for itself, I don't care.

*grumbles*

Anyway what ASICs are being sold? I know the difficulty is going to go up so high that even the $300 I blew on my card won't be enough to recap energy usage. Is it just butterfly labs, or is it others? Doesn't matter I guess...the time it takes to pay off what I owe, the difficulty will be astronomical.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Has the difficulty to mine bitcoins quintupled (x4) since March? on: May 02, 2013, 10:05:30 PM
I was thinking it might be because butterfly labs said they started shipping. I read some articles that said as much, but still, you never know if what they are saying is true.
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Has the difficulty to mine bitcoins quintupled (x4) since March? on: May 02, 2013, 09:50:34 PM
I remember back in March I was mining bitcoins with a XFX Force HD 7970. I think back then I was making a little over one bitcoin a week on that card, but now, using an overclocked Gigabyte HD 7950 overclocked to around 1200 (I had to send the XFX card back due to it being faulty), I am now earning roughly one bitcoin a month. Has something happened since the start of March and now, or have I completely messed up my numbers somehow?
