1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / CGminer setup issues for Doge on: February 15, 2021, 04:40:38 PM
I have set up and mined garlic from this rig before and it worked alright, and now i reinstalled cgminer 3.7.2 in a teempt to switch to doge and now i cannot get the darn thing to detect my gpu's. is there a .config setup i need to adjust(besides the worker addresses), or a .bat that i am missing?

I'm running dual AMD radeon r9 200 HD 7900 series.  (yes i know they are older)

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: garliccoin split on: February 17, 2018, 11:29:39 PM
garliccoin came around January as a scrypt and was very easy to mine. specifically as gpu. even cpu mining was profitable for a little bit. now they switched the algorithm . the market cap shows around end of January. witch was a good sign that it would be around for a while. and even though the price was sporadic in the beginning, it seamed to level off and if not come back recently. i heard it was supposed to be like a stronger dogecoin. it still seams minable but i think the difficulty is starting to rise faster with the new algorithm.

just noticed the switch to Allium algorithm (remember to update your miners!) and the difficulty level shot from script being around 60 to 65 to allium being around 250 260ish. notably affecting my ability to produce, understandably.   is there a advantage with the now algorithm? I'm not a big fan right now as a miner but my hopes are that the price goes back up with the choice. looks like it favors the heavy miners.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: trying to mine garlic unable to use sgminer! on: January 30, 2018, 01:04:12 AM
ok with some effort i figured out how to mine my AMD setup.  I'm using a setup of sgminer called yakminer provided my the user guide of the garlic recipes website linked to the garlicpool help section. there are several provided but this is the one that worked for me. and  editing the minepool.bat file in this config for garlicpool.

@echo off

setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_MAX_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

:loop
yacminer --nscrypt --nfmin 10 --nfmax 10 -o stratum+tcp://eu.stratum.garlicpool.org:3333 -u username.workername -p x -T -I 14
echo restart miner...
goto loop

good luck and hope this helps those who need it

i was able to get around the crash by not changing the permissions by windows but the settings on my antivirus. still i have the miner closing instantly on launch possibly due to a .bat error. does anyone have a good config for garlic on a non nvidea GPU? its sg miner im attempting to use for this.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / trying to mine garlic unable to use sgminer! on: January 28, 2018, 08:27:12 PM
I have a AMD radeon 7900 series and I'm having difficulty setting up sgminer. it closes instantly on startup I can mine with my CPU no problem but at laughable hash rates. i was wondering if anyone else had these issues and is there a fix?

and another symptom is the miner .exe disappears after the first attempt to start it with getting the error "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

sorry i haven't gotten back you you in a bit as i was away, but to answer your question i would love to put all my metal under a high end tester, would take a load off my mind, but as i don't ill pm you the guy i got these from so you can take a look yourself. hes been around for a while and has good feedback so seems trustworthy, I've been collecting these for a while and was selling a couple that i have lower numbers of for myself. they don't have coa's i was guessing due to being numbed. correct me if I'm wrong but my research shows mintage has numbered and unnumbered variations.

The Enemy Unknown medallion takes inspiration from the Saint Gaudens double eagle,
to remind us of how a perceived ally may reveal itself to be our greatest foe.
Lady Liberty has been replaced by a ‘friend’ with an extended hand offeringan
olive branch and a smile on one side, hiding a dagger with a skeletal hand in
the other. Behind the figure are rays of sunshine, the promise of health and
prosperity. On the other side, in the figure’s wake, a dead olive tree stands,
with vultures circling overhead. The broken chain represents the broken chain of
commitment, when envy or malice rot away at the bonds of trust.

12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Sound Money? on: June 17, 2017, 09:42:15 PM
just as gold was 100 years ago, what would happen to bitcoin price and fees if governments were to do heavy investments, monetary stores and hedge in bitcoin. or freaky to think about, just like the gold standard, if a bitcoin standard would to come out with a paper and coin currency based with bitcoin instead of gold. you would have to deal with the fluctuations and what fractional versions would have to come out. i would assume price would go up due to demand and we would need fractions instead of a dollar it would be .00001 for a dollar (being optimistic)
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we ever see bitcoin lower than 1000$? on: June 17, 2017, 09:29:10 PM
i tend to agree with batang, I've noticed recently there has been a ratchet effect happening. there will be a spike, then a drop, then it will correct about halfway in between prior and post spike and level there for a bit before another spike. i agree that we will never see 1000 again in a long time and only if there is a fundamental issue in the technology.
14  Economy / Economics / Re: The legalization of bitcoin. on: June 17, 2017, 09:08:00 PM
the idea of a island is just that, an idea, something like that would have worked of there was a country sized pice of land that no one currently occupied, witch doesn't exist. (except Antarctica but that's crazy talk) having every transaction in bitcoin would be a bit nutty too, imagine getting a cup of coffee in the morning with the transaction fees and time needed. bitcoin in its current state is better suited as a investment commodity or large transaction currency. anything commonplace is bit cumbersome. i would be glad to see improvements in this area. as now with the volatility you would see things like in some countries where someone gets their paycheck on payday and tells the spouse to go spend it that day in fear of loosing value. there are still things to work out with the island idea.

i do believe the joe ledger action novels cover this storyline.
18  Economy / Goods / Re: Buying Your PAPER MAGIC THE GATHERING cards for BTC! on: May 26, 2017, 09:01:14 PM
i also have a pile of magic cards that im selling. my guess is 1000 to 2000 cards. i havent gone and searched the value of all of them mostly the ones that stand out and all are early decks like tempest portal, weatherlight, ice age, stronghold, visions, Arabian knights, alliances, and a couple more. if you are interested ill get a more accurate count and of what sets. i wouldn't count on anything too big in it. i sold the bazaar of Baghdad witch was the big one on eBay. as well as a mox diamond that i found. ive only have been able to go through the lands and started on items. creatures and others i haven't searched yet. but as i said just let me know if your intrested.
19  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-05-26]Bitcoin could see a 47% correction, but some say it's going to $6k on: May 26, 2017, 04:00:55 AM
i think there will be some correction but you cannot ignore the fact a government legalized the currency. japan. and as others follow there will be a higher demand. in the short term, yea BTC will jump and drop, but on a upward correlation. its a matter when the milestone acceptances happen. in my opinion
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin can ruin a Country? on: April 11, 2017, 03:53:59 PM
i tend to agree with the guy who compares bitcoin to gold. i feel the creation is a natural response to feds devaluing currency to justify spending money they don't have by just printing more. A gold standard kept that from happening as you needed something of value before you can spend on something of value for a equal trade and that's why they got rid of that restriction. they disprove of bitcoin because it takes effort to acquire much the same way the gold standard was.
