Why do you want to sync? This is a dead scam coin.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Zuckerberg and Bitcoin on: May 29, 2013, 10:59:20 AM
BTC as the currency of choice on FB? That would be sweet.

I'd love to use my mined coins to directly fund my Farmville 2 account. The amount I can mine isn't significant enough to bother exchanging to fiat or spending on anything else, and Farmville 2 isn't significant enough to spend my fiat money on. Win-win.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YACoin - cpuminer released. Very soon pools will be availaible for this coin on: May 10, 2013, 12:15:44 AM
you need to allowip Smiley

I don't think that was the problem, since I didn't change the conf and it's working now. I think I just forgot to wait until it synced all the blocks.

Why am I getting 500 error?

[2013-05-09 16:36:15] json_rpc_call failed, retry after 30 seconds
[2013-05-09 16:36:45] HTTP request failed: The requested URL returned error: 500 Internal Server Error
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many YAC do you have? on: May 09, 2013, 08:24:26 PM
5 YAC that was given away on this forum. Mining wasn't giving me anything at all (apparently the Windows client is bugged).
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] yacoin: yet another altcoin. START is now. on: May 09, 2013, 06:41:50 AM
This yacoin only CPU ?

Yes, currently.

what to use for the miner for CPU ?

The instructions I left will set the CPU to mine already.  No external miner needed.

what client?

guiminer-scrypt suitable for yacoin ?

No. You can only use the yacoin wallet client to mine.

2 years. 2011, 2013, 2015. Bubbles like odd years. Trust me, I'm a financiologist.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][YAC][HOWTO] Howto mine yacoin on: May 09, 2013, 03:23:49 AM
Also the OPs command doesn't use -server switch but maunderingcabal includes it.  Is the -server switch required to mine with a conf file or can you mine with it this switch and with no conf file?  I've been spending a lot of time fiddling with settings and no coin.

According to my testing, you need the -server switch and conf file to mine at all (which doesn't really make sense but oh well).

Not true, I don't have -server or a conf file and have mined 2 blocks in the last 4-5 hours.

That's weird. With just the -gen switch on Windows, I was getting 0 hashes per second, and the CPU usage was only ~6% (it wasn't even trying to mine).

Try removing the colon at the end of the URL in your config

15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your Worst/Unluckiest noob mistake with BTC on: May 05, 2013, 07:15:14 AM
Deleting a Virtual Machine with 5 coins left in wallet.
loosing 2 btc on an old usb stick that gave up Sad

This is why I personally prefer online wallets like blockchain.info. I know they have their disadvantages too, but I'd rather have my coins in an account than a file.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Newbie Status Really That Hard? on: May 05, 2013, 07:11:54 AM
Having to make 5 filler posts first definitely puts a dumper on the initial impulse to contribute. Maybe that initial impulse will return once I'm approved. Will it still be 'initial impulse' then? Time will tell if there's even an impulse.

They don't have to be "filler" posts. There are some interesting discussions even in the Newbie forum that one can legitimately contribute to.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is mining still profitable? on: May 05, 2013, 06:48:00 AM
I would mine Litecoins, except that every miner out there was written with trojan code (not the malicious kind, just to connect to everyone apparently) and the only way to get past it is to uninstall my virus protection..

What antivirus are you using? Microsoft Security Essentials doesn't have any problem with LTC miners...
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is mining still profitable? on: May 05, 2013, 06:42:38 AM
Ive stopped mining bitcoins, its either LTC or CHN/CNC now

I'm mining BQC (BBQ Coins, another scrypt currency). Apparently an exchange is coming soon.
