hi there technical question here.. say I have a receive address in my bitcoin wallet, already received some coins on that address. I backup my wallet. after that, I receive some more coins on that same address. do I need to backup my wallet again? I figured that the backed-up wallet already contains that address, so that should my wallet get corrupted, I can simply use my backed-up wallet again and it will show the same amount of coins that I had before it corrupted, but after the last transaction. not completely sure if it works like that though.. so to be sure, does anybody know? thanks in advance!

I've been making music all my life, mostly drum and bass, but I never really 'did' anything with it, except doing some gigs at local venues. Never joined a record label or pressed actual CD's/vinyl's.. Thought it was a bit of a shame my music was just withering away on my harddisk without people being able to hear it So I've decided to create a site for it, and since I love bitcoins, I accept them as donations http://bitplane.nlHope you like it! Criticism on both the site and the music are most welcome. (except for the js player, I can't really do anything about it's super miniature progress bar, I guess, since it's not mine) ps. may add .ogg and .flac later on

When I'm visiting friends and someone needs to send me some coins, it annoyed me how I could never tell them my BTC address since I didn't have them with me. I decided to write a simple website for it, and thought, "why not just make it available to everyone? There must be more people with this problem!" And so I did, and here it is! Cryptocurrency address shortener - have your addresses at hand, away from home!http://zipb.it/ Please let me know if you find any bugs! I tried to make it as secure as possible (the main threat is if someone else could change your addresses), and I think I did a good job at it, but if you notice security issues after all, please be nice and let me know I've always been pretty broke, so donations are most welcome! BTC donations: 15ZioEHhSEbyUA6v1jR5v8EwXXjSBfL9iV WDC donations: WNsixWHzym2wjRQwRzfQuPEcjzbDUGe6Y4 Hope you like this service!

Recently, I've done a lot of research on altcoin announcements, appearing on this subforum. Though the number of coins being announced seems to be strong, their popularity clearly is in decline. The formula I came up with after weeks of research is this: for time >= ~june 2013, Popularity(time) = ((2561 / 153.52) * 891.97 + (3.5801 * pi)) * t * 0.0
Creative extrapolation using this formula gives us my prediction on the future amount of random coins being announced: We can rest safely, as the craze will be over soon

I'm still wondering.. For coins that have low hashrates, because price/difficulty is becoming too low on the exchanges, what happens with the price shortly before/after a retarget? Look at Mincoin for example: http://calc.vircurpool.com/The price on mcxnow has been around 0.001 for quite a while now (though very slowly dropping). The hashrate has been going down for a while, and probably will go down more. Then, in one or two days, the retarget makes the difficulty absolutely PLUMMET by around 7 to 10 times. Profitability goes up massively. People will recommence mining. What does this situation, on average, do to the price of a coin? If anything at all? I reccon more coins will be created, so they'll be worth less per coin; but at the same time, more people will be interested in the coin, maybe driving the price up.. I'm at a loss here

I think one of the biggest drawbacks with BTC are the long transaction times. So, if there's going to be an alternative coin getting to be (relatively) 'mainstream', I'm sure it'll have to be one with short transaction times. Of all the 390527835098723 recently introduced CloneCoins, Worldcoin seems to be the most popular (for whatever reason) at this moment. I'm curious if this one is going to stick, or if another coin will overtake. To get to a conclusion on this, I think it's important to see if there's other things that new coins could improve on, relative to WDC and BTC. For example, how bloated will WDC's blockchain get? I think this is a problem with Bitcoin, and I'm not sure how Worldcoin handles this. Any input from people less nooby than I? Personally, I hope it sticks, I really love those fast transactions
