Digitalcoin, since the Foundation has been created (as it is currently known), has seen great growth and development.
We graduated from a single developer to a group of very competent and skillful developers.
What we have accomplished in 6 months is far more than I believe DGC has accomplished in its entire history. I believe this is amazing, you guys are sincerely the best group of guys I have ever worked with.
We started out with a group of bagholders and are now a very rock solid team with great motivation.
During this process I think a person with the title of "President" was necessary. It was necessary to ensure a smooth transition, it was necessary to ensure everyone stayed on task, it was necessary to ensure we took DGC from v2 to v3 without flaw.
Guess what? We did that. I didn't do that, we did that as a team.
What is a crypto currency? I'm not going to answer this question, I'm going to leave it to you to decide.
What is a title? Again, I will leave this to you to decide.
My personal feelings?
I'm not going anywhere. My role and my contribution will remain the same. I don't care if you call me "kenel" or "president" or "asshole", I'm not going anywhere. I'm just going to dance.
I will be here everyday putting in the same effort as the rest of our hard working developers. I will fight for what is right the same way the Beastie Boys taught me to.
In reality?
This probably should have been done by myself a month ago when DGC became self sustained.
Our core is, and always has been, our development team.
The role of "president" has been one of vanity.
I want to contribute to DGC more than I want to be "President".
As my last act of "President," I am removing the current and future (meaning there should never be one) title of "President" and instead rolling up my sleeves and getting trench foot with the rest of you. I would rather help push DGC into the direction it needs to go than fall victim to the hierarchy we've been following.
I believe this current hierarchy we've been following is the wrong direction, and it is time to allow open source development to help us into the future.
Long live DGC, long live our dev team, and I truly appreciate every single thing you guys have ever done for me personally and for DGC publicly.
Over the next week I will remove 'president' from my title on my signatures and avatar. I will, however, never resign from the role of being your biggest supporter and spokesperson. I will do exactly what I do now, but no titles. Titles mean nothing to me. I love DGC, I love you guys, and I will continue to do everything I possibly can to support you and make DGC everything we've discussed it becoming....just without the title of "President".
You know where to find me.

Happened to Digitalcoin, Bittrex, and a few other coins from what I can follow so far.
Someone, or some group, is making the rounds on IRC with variations of trusted coin community members nicks and contacting people asking for coins (to pump, for some project, etc.) as a loan for a few hours.
In our specific case, someone used kenei (with capital i instead of L) to fraudulently obtain crypto property under false pretenses from our channel members (in arial font they look identical).
This is a Class H felony in the United States.
The funds are deposited directly to a Bittrex account, sold immediately for BTC and withdrawn before anyone realizes this is a scam. Bittrex seems unable to help us but is aware of the situation.
As a warning, I'd like to make sure everyone is (a) aware that this scam is going on, and (b) that members of our Digitalcoin Foundation will NEVER ask for any coins from any person as a loan
Be careful out there....it's easy to get caught up in this if you aren't paying attention. Verify before sending or doing anything. These people seem to know exactly who to impersonate and exactly who to contact that would be trustful of whom they are impersonating. They are even likely idling in your channel right now.
Not sure what else I can do other than warn people of this. Let me know if anyone has any ideas -- I take this personally as it was my name used in this fraudulent scheme.

ANN Here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=785601.0
DigitalCoin V3 has now been released. From xawksow (a Digitalcoin Foundation Developer):This release requires a hard fork as we've changed from being a single algorithm Scrypt coin into a multiple algorithm coin.
From block number 1028000 which is when the hard fork will happen DigitalCoin will be mined with Scrypt alongside the two new algorithms which are SHA and X11
It was expected that the fork would take place at some point on or around the middle of December.
However this will not now be the case because someone started mining with a huge amount of Scrypt hash power.
So this fork will now happen very quickly. Please update your DGC clients and daemons as soon as you can.
The three algorithms will work alongside each other and the difficulties will be adjusted so that there should be 1 block found every 40 seconds on average regardless of which algorithm it's mined with.
The block reward will change to 5 DGC per block from block 1028000, the fork block.
The DGC V3 clients can be downloaded from here : https://github.com/DGCFoundation/DGCV3.0/releasesThe DGC V3 source code can be downloaded here: https://github.com/DGCFoundation/DGCV3.0

Update 4/12/2015: DGC Foundation is now Digitalcoin Developer Network
Welcome to the Digitalcoin Community!
Digitalcoin (DGC) is an established cryptographic currency with a transparent history. The Digitalcoin Developer Network and its committed team ensures network stability and health through evolving policies, best practices and open-ended testing. To date, DGC remains one of the most fair, and well distributed forks of the original Bitcoin software.
Click the images above to visit our various social groups. IRC and the DGC forums are our most active communities.
Technical Specifications
Network Parameters Algorithm - Blocks are hashed using Scrypt, x11, and SHA256 algorithms. Confirmations - Confirmations average 40 seconds. Difficulty - Retargets every block Mining Reward - 5 per block found. Rewards halve every three years. Maximum coins - The total supply of digitalcoins will balance out around 48,166,000 as block halvings occur.
Network Enhancements Algorithm Control - If the last three blocks were discovered by the same algorithm, the fourth block will be rejected until its found by one of the other two algorithms. This prevents directed attacks on the network from any single algorithm.
Client Features Block Explorer - Built in block explorer allows you to look up transaction history of the network. Market Watch - Live market data pulled from Bittrex keeps you up to date on the digitalcoin price. IRC Portal - Chat directly with members of the digitalcoin community (note: due to the nature of IRC no one may be around when you ask your question; stay logged in and be patient!)
Development
Digitalcoin is currently developed through the Digitalcoin Developer Network. The Developer Network is comprised of volunteer members. If you would like to offer your expertise, contact The Digitalcoin Developer Network.
The Digitalcoin Developer Network is always accepting new, dedicated (and skilled) members.
Participating Developers mrbodi (ahmed_bodi) - xawksow - HashEngineering - samson - kenel - Trenal - CoHe - SimonTower

As of this weekend, The DigitalCoin Foundation will hereafter assume the development responsibilities of DigitalCoin. Ahmedbodi, an early and reliable supporter of DigitalCoin (and great developer), is assisting with our transition and has accepted the role as developer of DigitalCoin.
The DigitalCoin Foundation will also assume the hosting and maintenance responsibilities of the DigitalCoin Github.
During this transition period, we are working on several technical upgrades to DigitalCoin to further stabilize the network and provide the reliability we've come to expect from our coin both now and into the foreseeable future. More details will be released after the initial testing phase has been completed, but they are very exciting changes!
Rest assured we will continue to improve DigitalCoin with the best intentions and the highest scrutiny. The DigitalCoin Foundation aims for absolute transparency, so please, I invite any and all questions to be asked - and answered to the best of my (or another foundation member's) ability.
To the future of DigitalCoin - A currency for the digital age!

Ahmed has challenged me to a contest for DigitalCoin (DGC) hashrate.
I am in the middle of creating a new DGC pool -- poolerrangers.com, and Ahmed is in the middle of creating a multi pool (multicoin.co).
We've challenged each other to a contest to see who can achieve the most blocks found in a 30 day period. From the 15th (July) - 15th (August).
This applies only to DigitalCoin (DGC), and only for the days mentioned above.
May the best....crypto...nerd.....win?

Recently asked them to change my order from two miners to one. Received the following response: "Hello there, I am very sorry but this is not possible as your order has already been processed. Best Regards, Alpha Technology Team" Leads me to the following questions: 1) Order has been processed yet no physical product exists? This is the type of answer I expect from, say...Amazon after my order has already shipped. How can my order not be able to be changed when you're practically begging people, in your 'newsletters,' to order more from batch 1? 2) How legal is their pre-order policy in their terms of service? I realize the UK has different laws than the United States, but the way I read their pre-order policy...it basically sums up to the following: "we're going to lead you on for months and months and finally, when it comes time to pay, we still have no physical product or even a demo of a product, but you're shit out of luck"? 3) Why is it taking weeks and weeks to answer a simple email? "I'm too busy" seems to be the general response here from Alpha Tech...(as of two hours ago per the "email update" I received): "We will be up to date on our emails within a matter of days (there will be a few exceptions so please I know nobody likes waiting but if you're not being served it just means somebody else is)." Seriously guys? Several weeks to respond to emails? I could literally take a vacation, come back home from vacation, sleep for 7 days straight, and still answer emails more timely than I've seen....and supposedly there's an entire team? I'm not the only one: http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/27qfwq/alphat_are_not_responding_to_many_customer_emails/Seems like this guy's emails were responded to....so it takes a Reddit post to get an answer to your email? 4) They have the time to update the design of their website, but not respond to customer emails? 5) I stumbled upon this reddit post in which someone visited their "office" http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/1uveun/alpha_technologys_scam_team_akram_akram_akram_and/Care to explain at all Alpha Tech? Do I need to contact daddy Akram and tell him what bad boys you've been? Or is he part of this whole ordeal? Here's another: http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/1uju18/best_explanation_by_far_that_ive_seen_on_why/And some more people skeptical of Alpha Tech: http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/1uju18/best_explanation_by_far_that_ive_seen_on_why/As a final note, yes, I realize I should've taken caution when ordering from Alpha Tech. Yes, I saw the warning signs, and yes I made an impulse buy. This is absolutely terrible business practice, and I recommend that anyone considering buying into their "Batch 1" to proceed with EXTREME CAUTION. If I were running a company and had a viable product, and was going to launch at my expected time frame, I'd take any refund requests personally and basically say "Fuck you, you're missing out, here's your full refund...good luck moron". Instead what we're seeing is...."we're too busy for our customers. Please wait some more, but it doesn't matter anyway, we'll send you a newsletter again tomorrow to try to convince you we're legit and you should complete your order instead of cancelling". DO NOT ORDER FROM ALPHA TECH.

A sister thread to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=651566.0 . Not only are they deleting posts, but they are not responding to emails to the customer service 'email' they refer you to if you have questions/problems/want to change your order. Been about two weeks since I contacted you Alpha Tech -- what's the deal?
